Chili relleno & enchilada combo plate with a taco on the side. No, I couldn't finish it.

The food and margaritas were absolutely outstanding and portions were very generous. Everyone we encountered was friendly and very accommodating. My husband claimed it was the best salsa he had ever had and we eat at Mexican restaurants throughout the Northwest, West and Southwest. I found it cute that each table had a picture that had been colored by a previous young guest. It was also conveniently located to our hotel.

Nice little place. Staff were super nice. A short walk from the hotel. I ordered extra so I could have food for the week. And the chips and salsa were tasty. I ordered a 2 item combo with a chile relleno, cheese enchilada, rice and beans, a ground beef taco, and a side of bacon wrapped shrimp and a root beer in a to go cup. The shrimp, rice, beans, and enchilada were the best thing. I ate the taco cause it would have gotten too soggy to save for later. It was ok. Not the type of ground beef I was expecting. Too much seasoning. The huge disappointment for me was the chile relleno. It looked like the egg was broken on the flat top, mixed around a bit, had a slice or two of cheese placed on top, then placed a grilled Pasilla pepper on top of that and then folded. I'm sorry, but that is not a chile relleno. I couldn't find the cheese and the egg whites were still runny. Grossed me out so much. I did share my disappointment with the waiter and he offered to have another one made but I just couldn't. I asked them to charge me for a taco and enchilada combo instead of charging me for an a la cart taco. I also debated taking some soup back to the room and asked if I could taste a little of the broth from the Albondigas to see if I liked it. Well, they said no. They said the Albondigas were not hot cause they made them in the morning and it would take too long to heat them up. I didn't order any. In the end, they didn't charge me for the a la cart taco, the shrimp, or the soda. I really wanted to go back to try the Albondigas. . .

Super friendly and attentive service! We ordered the fish tacos, beef enchilada, and carne asada plate. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were generous. I highly recommend this place, especially the fish tacos they are impressive! It was my dad's birthday, so I told the server, and they surprised him by singing and giving him free ice cream. The restaurant and restrooms were clean as-well. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience!

What was left of the pico that came with the fresh chips

This was across the parking lot from our hotel. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. Chips were fresh and salsa was a bit spicy, the pico mixed with fresh cabbage was a nice surprise that was served along with the typical chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants. All ingredients were very fresh and we all enjoyed our meals. Prices were also reasonable. I was a big fan of the addition of the fresh cabbage to both the pico and the salad that accompanied my entree.

    Chicken Mocajete

We ended up here by chance traveling through and will be returning all the way from Coeur d'Alene Idaho the food and service was so good! The salsa was a great indicator, super flavorful and yummy. We had the carne asada burrito and chicken mocajete and were not disappointed! We didn't try a margarita due to our drive home ahead of us but maybe next time!

It's my honor to present a new business to the Yelp community! This is my first trip to Omak, even though I lived on the northern border for 6 years. Omak isn't exactly a place you stumble across, if you know what I mean. That being said, I've lived up north long enough to be suspicious when I'm told that the new "Mexican" joint is good. People in this area aren't very tolerant of spicy food, so I was not expecting the awesomeness I received. The first person I met as I entered was the owner, Mario. He's a hands on kind of guy. And his lovely wife helps him keep the place together. She's the glue that makes it all work ... So, let's get down to business! I have a pretty basic matrix for deciding if I like Mexican food: Salsa Beans Margaritas Quality of the meat Like movies and wine, we all have a different opinion of what makes Mexican food good. I grew up eating Tex Mex, so it has a special place in my heart, but I'm agreeable to all the other variations. First off, this place is NOT Tex-Mex. so get that out of your head. It's also not the food you'd get in a Mexican resort while lounging on a beach and sipping margaritas. El Torito is an amazing marriage of "Americanized Mexican" with "traditional Mexican", and the result is spectacular. The flavors are rich and robust, with unique seasoning that sets it apart from the competitors. SALSA: a chunky blend of tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, garlic, and a splash of--oregano? The salsa is spicy, but not blistering hot. And, God bless them, they don't force a ton of cilantro in it. Even though it's chunky, it's still pretty drippy, so expect to keep a napkin handy. This salsa is worth discovering! BEANS: the refried beans are clearly made in-house. They are not too thick or thin, but are a consistency that makes them functional for loading onto fajitas. They aren't excessively seasoned so they don't dominate the flavors. They serve as a great side and are complimentary to the main dish. Which is exactly what you want! MARGARITA: the house special was a straight forward margarita, completely consistent with the standard quality of the restaurant. It was neither too tart, nor too sweet. And by the time I reached the end of my second serving, I was satisfied they didn't water them down for the strange Out-of-Towner who suddenly showed up asking tons of questions. MEAT: I ordered the chicken fajitas, and I nearly made myself sick trying to cram it down my gullet. Before I continue, let me say--Mario recommend the steak tacos, but I wanted to conduct my review on something more mainstream. The chicken was robust and bursting with flavor. Again, it wasn't Tex-Mex. it was unique to Mario. The flavor was bold and daring, and soul-satisfying. I had been traveling for more than 12 hours and desperately needed something comforting, something that would satisfy my hunger and nourish my soul. This was it! Let me circle back to the basics before I end up writing War and Peace ... The salsa comes with a cabbage side, which is light and refreshing. It's a true throwback to genuine Mexican cuisine, and should authenticate their legitimacy. Mario and his wife started this place in the dead center of the covid crisis, and survived! The hour or so I sat there, more than 2 dozen locals came through and ate. They were the kind of locals who come for the exact same meal and drink. They are the backbone of this place, and they are as mad as possible at the Governor of Washington State. Why? Well, the Gov decided to return the state to Phase 1 restrictions, meaning this restaurant will slide back to take-out only. Bless his heart. They will survive. They will thrive. And you, Mexican food lover, are the winner! #todaysdiscovery
