I planned to eat dinner while doing some work and asked for a booth. The restaurant was 10% full but the hostess-/waitress said I could only sit at the countertop or it would be a wait. When I asked how long, she said she didn't know and repeated there would be a wait unless I sat at the countertop. We just walked into the "Brass Fork" on "Father's Day" and were happily surprised to get right in! Our server, Nadine, was so nice, friendly and funny! We have been here a few times and love the food and desserts. Tons of seating, kinda of a darker calming atmosphere. Not super bright. I will say the customer service is not very good. Each time we have been we always get the same person who is not attentive, doesn't listen to what we ask nor bring it. When we ask someone else to bring us what we ordered they don't. So a lot of times we are sitting there trying to flag someone down for attention so we can get the items we ordered so we can eat. I know not all waitresses or waiters are like this so I still recommend trying this place out as the food is great especially breakfast. I think we just have bad luck to continue to get the same person. The last time we went there, we were told it was a 30 min wait for a booth though there were booths available but that we could sit at bar. The second we sat down, they started filling the booths which I thought was extremely unfair and in polite as we had just asked for a booth seconds ago. I was excited to see that the Grand Cafe was changing to The Brass Fork, as I'm a bit bougie and like smaller, fun, hip menus and I've been to another location at a different Station that I liked. Eeessshhh.... I was wrong to be excited. The service and the food have all taken a step down. The pricing has gone up, which I understand in these times, but there doesn't seem to be a real update to justify this. The dining room still looks exactly as it did before and honestly, I think the food quality has taken a nose dive. We sat fairly quickly, which was nice and were given menus and silverware fairly quickly. Our server was ok but I got the feeling that once we didn't order drinks, she was done with us. Every interaction with her afterwards was forced and awkward but it also may have been that maybe we seemed needy to her? There are no substitutions made on any of the meals (which is so so so dumb for the kind of establishment this is) but fine. My mom can't have anything spicy (ulcer) and trying to convince us we can't have rice or mashed potatoes or french fries instead of poblano peppers is ridiculous. She dead looked me in the eye and said poblanos are the sweet peppers. No hun, they are not. And it seems really odd to me that you aren't willing to literally serve me a piece of salmon without any of the accompaniments, for the same price. We wanted to also get a side of fries, that we would be PAYING for. She still refused to let us order the salmon plain. I think "no substitutions" may need to be redefined. I will say that the 2 star "Could Have Been Better" rating would be a 1 star "Not Good" if all our meals came out like my bf and my dad's. Super greasy chicken fried steak (and I mean you could push the breading with your finger and oil came out) with extremely greasy eggs and soggy potatoes. Raw pea fritters and hard french fries. However, my mom's salmon (on top of a Caesar salad) was good and my prime rib was actually quite tasty. My husband and I stopped in for a late dinner after a busy day. We chose The Brass Fork because we dined at their location in Palace Station and we liked it before the pandemic. This location inside Sunset Station was amazing with awesome staff. The restaurant is clean and pleasantly decorated. The booth was comfortable and spacious. It wasn't busy when we arrived and that made it nice. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He checked on us during our time while dining there. We decided to order the loaded nachos with carne asada added to it. The wait was short and a large amount of nachos were brought out to our table with two small plates. We were famished so we dived into the cheesy goodness with jalapeños, sour cream, carne asada, onions, etc, We washed it down with iced tea for me and ice water for my husband. Prior to COVID, we used to eat here at the Grand Cafe frequently and never had an issue with the quality of the food or the portion sizes. Now that we are finally vaccinated and ready to dine in again, we coudn't wait to try the 'new' Brass Fork'. Their are very few physical changes, however the menu has been 'updated'. I ordered my favorite old standard breakfast with a new name, "the Lucky 3 Way" (three eggs any style, bacon or sausage links, three pancakes, choice of hash browns or home fries). They have always had delicious hot cakes and they are as delicious as ever. The problem was the Sausage that I ordered...our server asked if I wanted links or patty sausage and I chose the patty. When my plate arrived, I was shocked to see ONE teeny, tiny little patty...check out the photo with my fork included to show just how small it was! The single patty was literally no larger than a silver dollar! The pieces of potato in the home fries to the left of the sausage are almost as large as the sausage! Came to the Grand café after last minute Christmas eve shopping with my boyfriend. The Grand Café is inside the Sunset Station and the casino was busy. Grand Café is one of our spots to go to if we can't decide on what and where to eat. The place is 24 hours and if you are a gambler you are able to use your players card and accumulate points. Layout of the place is so spacious we even saw a family of 20 on a big dining table. We usually sit at the bar so we are able to get the waitress attention a lot faster and its convient. I regret what I ordered last night which was the Grilled Salmon with Rice pilaf. When it came out it looked appetizing but some of the rice pilaf was hard and my salmon was dry. It was probably old rice from the bottom of the rice cooker. When the manager came out and did her rounds by asking everyone how is everything? I ask her if the Rice Pilaf was supposed to be hard? She said no and she was kind enough to give me new rice pilaf and not charge me the rice pilaf. This time the rice pilaf was soft. I did not bother telling her about my salmon because she was kind enough to not charge me the rice anyways. My boyfriend ordered his usual, Liver and Onions... ( EEK) He loves it every time. He says it reminds of his mothers liver and onions growing up. ( BTW he is from Midwest of Windy City Chicago) My experience is always on point with customer service. But sometimes when you go to a diner restaurant customer service does not always match up with food experience. Don't know if the Chef/cook is not experience enough? Bad day? or being lazy that day since it was Christmas eve? My theory is that when you are dining at a restaurant you should always order what the restaurant is known for and signature dish. In a nutshell - the food isn't the greatest ever, but it isn't terrible either. I came here with the guys on a late night and we decided to stop in and get some food. This place is actually open 24hrs despite the Yelp hours. (I'll submit a correction right after this review.) The restaurant itself is brightly lit and clean, the booths looked very comfortable. The place itself actually looks pretty classy for a café IMO. We were greeted by a friendly waitress even at 3 in the morning. She was very patient with us as we looked over the menus. There's even a couple deals in there for people that have a player's card, so make sure you get one! Like biscuits and gravy for $1.99! The food is where I think this place is kind of a miss. I got the biscuits and gravy special and an All Day Breakfast burger. The biscuits had a decent texture, but the gravy's seasoning was almost non existent. The burger was cooked a perfect medium and it had a perfect over easy egg with perfectly cooked hash browns. However, it too - had no seasoning. It was all bland. Very bland. Even the fries that are supposed to be Parmesan fries (according to the menu) had 0 seasoning and no trace of Parmesan at all. Bland. I was so sad that everything looked great but had no seasoning or taste whatsoever. I think somehow even the bacon had no salt. ‍ The kitchen was also pretty slow for only having a handful of customers in the place. I almost feel like the restaurant itself is too nice for the menu that they have. I can't argue the prices though because some things are a pretty good value. Brass Fork is located inside Sunset Station Casino by the check in area. They have a really nice pastry display upon the entrance that really make you want to save some room for dessert. The one thing I really appreciated was that we arrived at about 8pm and didn't realize that the venue was closing at 830 for maintenance. The hostess that evening told us not to worry and we could take our time to dine in. I was so impressed by that. The restaurant offers a full menu that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. The night we stopped by I tried the soup of the day, Bean soup which was actually pretty hot and delicious. I also ordered a Greek salad which had a good portion of hummus and a good amount of dressing with it. It was probably one of the best salads I have had in a long time. Upon asking the server on the maintenance, we found that the venue does this regularly. We've eaten here SO many times and the food is always delicious. Ruthie the hostess is outstanding and Donovan was our server tonight; he's great! We've had him a few times. Real problem tonight with the hostess Mandy. She sat our Party of 4 at a booth near an exit door for the casino and it was COLD. We asked to be moved to a booth further inside the restaurant and were met by Mandy with a resounding no. Her demeanor was mean, rude and incredibly off putting. She said she couldn't put us further into the restaurant because she was rotating servers and it would mess that up. She would re seat us a few booths down from the door where "the wind wouldn't reach". While we are waiting for this new booth she walks a party of 2 right past us to a booth in the exact area we had wanted to move to!! That was really unbelievable. This table that wind wouldn't reach; spoiler alert: it was still cold! We complained again and Ruthie who is always an angel and knows us as loyal patrons was able to move us without hesitation she was ready to fix the problem right away and Donovan was able to still be our server and all worked out. We were hungry for corned beef and cabbage on this holiday to celebrate drinking, oops, I mean St. Patrick! The cafe had a $9.99 corned beef meal, which everyone in our group ordered. Out of the 3 plates, the meat on just one looked pretty good and the rest not so much. Mine had a lot of fat, and no seasoning on the beef. The cabbage was fine, and the potatoes were good. After asking our server for butter and not getting it, we asked a busser and then finally got it. One plate was sent back for a reuben, which was a good choice. We should have sent them all back. Well, we had another terrific meal today in the Brass Fork restaurant at the Sunset Casino. The food continues to please: hot and fresh, consistently well prepared, and most of all, tasty!! The place is always clean and comfortable. But what really sets the Brass Fork apart from the competition is the staff. Clearly, the cooks are very good because we love the food. Kitti, our preferred waitress, is the absolute best!! She's so friendly and helpful. She knows our drink order without even asking! She takes care of all her customers with a truly caring heart, and everyone just loves her. The best hostess/cashier you could ever ask for is Ruthe. She's another Brass Fork gem who really cares about her customers and takes care of everyone as if they were family. And she always suggestive-sells the pastries. We have bought so much at her suggestion (it's obvious as seen in our increasing waistlines). These two women personify all that we appreciate about the Brass Fork. If you're staying or playing at Sunset Station and plan on eating here, be sure to have a player's card, as they sure have some great deals! (at least they did in October when we were there). I ate here four times during our four night stay. Husband joined me for three of them. They were featuring some $3.99 specials for player's card folks, including breakfast and a burger. I had the breakfast one a couple times. The first time, it was sheer perfection! Eggs over-easy, crispy bacon, nicely browned hashbrowns with terrific rye toast. Had the exact same thing later in the trip and it was good but the hashbrowns were not as perfectly executed (less brown), and Husband experienced the lesser browned version as well. I also tried the BLT which was very good (lots of B), and another time tried the $3.99 burger special which was quite decent as well. Servers work really hard here, especially as it got closer to the weekend and it got a lot busier. Which also meant longer waits to get a table and even longer to pay on the way out. read more

The food was good. The service was unacceptable. I was sat at a table without being put in queue meaning no one knew I was even sitting there. Then the waitress says since you had to wait so long, I expedited your food which was BS. They actually provided me food that tasted like it had been sitting for a while the french fries were hard and stale, and the burger was cold and dry. The cheese was discolored. I informed the waitress that my food was not fresh and she called me a liar, stating it was impossible for my food to taste like it had been sitting for a while, (liar) talking about the waitress. I asked for the manager and he called me a liar. They didn't offer to replace my food. They didn't apologize. They didn't care. I refuse to spend my money with people who think they can treat me this way. I will never eat at the brass fork again, because this wasn't my first time being mistreated there, which is starting to look like a pattern for me and I refuse to let anyone treat me like I am less than. read more
