The time is 2:50 pm August 2nd 2024. We got on the waitlist at 12:45 pm. Quite incredible that at the time that I am writing this message, the food has yet to arrive. Not blaming the staff as the equipment is not under their purview but with 10 minutes to close I am curious if they're just going to ask us to take the food home with us. Regardless, after we had waited an hour it was only then we found out that their chicken and pork items were off the menu due to equipment issues. Would've been nice to know prior to waiting so long. Alas, 2 hours into this ordeal we've been visited twice and have only received our drinks and small pieces of bread. Mind you, we placed our orders soon after having sat. Our food was not brought out at the same time, leaving some people waiting even longer than others. When we asked the waitress when the equipment had problems. She told us it had happened around 11. The lack of transparency about the situation, the wait time, and the wait for food is part of the reason for the low review. Terrible experience, hopefully this restaurant brings joy to others in the future cause it certainly won't be me. read more

I brought an out of town guest here for lunch after picking her up at the Clinton Ferry. First, the service (albeit friendly) was incredibly slow despite being seemingly well-staffed. We each ordered a sandwich with a side of potato salad. Her BLT was pretty lackluster. My Ruben was terrible. I'm not sure the meat was even pastrami. It seemed more like the consistency of chipped beef that had been over cooked to the point of being dry and crumbly, but then was glued together with some melted Swiss cheese. The potato salad with apple and bacon sounded promising but tasted overwhelmingly of what we could only guess was garlic powder and liquid smoke. Very bizarre and unappealing taste. read more

It was super busy when we got sitted, which was okay. Bloody mary was good, I ordered the chocken and waffles which was really good, except the goat cheese didn't go with it. Hubs had a Reuben (which he called a p*ssed a*s Reuben) which had the teensiest of thousand island dressing. (They took it off our bill) I would go there again, to try something else. For a brunch place, the coffee was horrible. The mocha tasted cheap - like they pumped Hershey's syrup in my coffee. The special of the day was good! That's where the three stars come in. Don't remember the name but it had fried chicken, waffles, got cheese, and bacon jam. Husband ordered their hash and was super unimpressed. He didn't finish it and we split my meal instead. Took a trip to Langley and stumbled upon this quant little restaurant. My wife and I originally came to Langley for just a cup of coffee and when we noticed this place we walked right in. Upon first impression it looks very nice. New paint, modern, and bright. No hostess at first but one lady showed up and asked how many. I said two, the lady then said okay I think it will be like 20-30 minutes, even though I noticed several tables open. I was slightly taken aback by that but whatever, I just shrugged it off, most likely I was just hungry, she did seem flustered anyway. Thankfully the bar was open seating so we sat right down. Our sever was awesome and friendly. The coffee was great! The mugs were funny random and unique, giving small coffeeshop vibes. I ordered The Saratoga omelette and my wife ordered the chicken & waffles and OMG! The food was phenomenal. My omelette had red onions, greens, pesto and goat cheese and it was *chefs kiss*. Even the chicken & waffles were perfect, the chicken was juicy and tender served with real maple syrup. 10/10 will be coming back soon. read more

I love the look of the inside of this place. Almost Vermont like with all the wide beadboard. Green paint with the white beadboard just made the place look aost stark but still inviting. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend ordered the mash. Also ordered a maple bacon old fashioned which was quite tasty. Presentation was lovely on both plates. And, everything tasted great. My only complaint was was that the eggs benedict were only lukewarm. I know they heated the plates because I felt the rim. I think sometimes you have a very delicate situation because you don't want to overheat the poached eggs because they will cook more, but the hollandaise must be very warm to override that situation without the hollandaise breaking. Also, is fantastic is a biscuit looked, it needed more salt and had very little flavor. That said, I would ome here again. read more

Such a hard review to write. Everyone has an off day and unfortunately it was one of those today we felt. Not sure if it's the chief that's been changed or what. The last time we came the chicken and waffles were so amazing that we kept wanting to come back. And we tried coming back three times in the past but we were not never able to get a table due to its popularity or we showed up on a day that's closed. Today we brought other grandparents & the kids and after patiently waited 90mins for our table and waiting another full hour for our food. We were sourly disappointed with our food. The batter for the fried chicken was extremely salty. The waffles came out cold and hard as a cardboard. Such a shame we had such a good experience last time we have been dying to come back for so long. read more

Four stars for how long it took to get drinks and place our orders. We sat for some time before our order was taken and that definitely sets the bar for the rest of the experience. My wife and I dined here on a Sunday morning during the town's annual "Murder Mystery", which brings in a ton of tourist and patrons to restaurants. With that being said, restaurants all had a wait time, and this restaurant did not have a call ahead option. We had to put our name down and the wait was about an hour. No big deal, we totally understood the situation. There's a nice coffee shop across the street we waited at until our table was ready. Once seated, we had a very friendly, knowledgeable waiter. He was the only waiter for the side of the restaurant we were on, so he was slammed, but yet took the time to explain everything to us. For drinks, I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary with bacon! It was definitely spicy, but in the perfect way. My wife ordered a pineapple mimosa, which isn't on the menu, but definitely should be--it was delicious! For meal options, my wife got the Braeburn. The chicken was so crispy and the seasoning was spot on. This is a big hit! For me, I ordered a double cheeseburger, which also isn't on the menu, but they completely accommodated my unnecessary food order. The burger was massive, had delicious melted cheddar cheese, house made pickles, onions, tomatoes, and a good amount of mayo for dressing. The burger was absolutely fantastic! The restaurant was busy and the ambiance is hustle and bustle, but we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. The Braeburn is a must stop for brunch if you're in Langley! read more

Day trip to Whidbey Island started with breakfast in Langley at The Braeburn. Short wait for a table, of which they had both inside and two outside areas for seating. Both front of house and table staff were great, which is why this review is as high as three stars. The food was mediocre at best. Not sure how a brunch restaurant can mess up pancakes, but their kitchen definitely managed it. We had a predictably long wait because we went for brunch on a holiday weekend, but easily amused ourselves window shopping and walking along the waterfront. Completely worth the wait. I had the chicken and waffles which was absolutely flawless - maple compound butter on the waffle, perfectly fried chicken, a generous serving. I'm not a clean plate person and that dish went back spotless lol! My daughter had the stuffed French toast and said she's not usually a huge fan of compote but this was different. My wife and I came to Whidbey Island for a weekend getaway at a friend's house, who recommended this place. We were only on the island for a weekend but ended up coming here twice. Everything is nice about this place -- charming area, friendly and kind staff, and the food is very delicious, with some very unique items. I particularly loved the seared oats. If you are an oatmeal lover you will love this. It was warm, with almost a grilled taste and was topped with yummy cinnamon apples and a cream sauce. My wife enjoyed the tuna melt with caesar salad. I got the French dip sandwich and the worst part of all... they forgot to add the dipping au ju to the bag!! And it was such a bummer because the sandwich was actually really good - just dry because there was no sauce. The food was decent-- not amazing but not bad either. There was definitely some snark/rudeness with the staff. This was our 2nd time. First experience was similar. Unfortunately won't be coming back. we went on a Saturday and it was quite busy. -- some one came up and said the hostess will be with you in a while --- when the the same person came up minuets later he said you can sit in side if you want ---we repeated and asked if there was a table open on the patio--- the host /server said i dont know let me look-- he came back and said there is a table out there but i have to clean it ----okay thank you------- when we were seated out side there were 3 clean tables to be sat at and we were sat in the only one in full sun----- this is okay as i like sun but not so much the hub=== while we were debating about leaving we saw-- a customer ask again for ice for his drink and someone send their food back at it was prepared wrong-- and a third table ask again if they could please have their bill --we decided to stay since we had driven over 4 hours and needed to eat and the pizza place was on a hour wait-- i asked what ipa they had on tap and again the server -who moments ago was the host said -- let me go look i dont know --- seems to me you should know your menu-- maybe its me??- we decided to stay-- i had a Caesar salad and the hub the Cuban sandwich -- it seemed to me we had top rated ingredients thrown together by the 3rd string team--- my husbands sandwich wasn't event pressed and toasted in the manner of a Cuban -- yes it had been hit with a press for seconds and in fact was soggy-- and poorly made-- it had a scoop of potato salad about a 1/2 of cup maybe and then it had half of it removed == i had the Caesar salad and in it was micro greens and spinach mixed into my salad-- not life or death but certainly cross contamination --- i have to say again the ingredients and the menu were top notch-- the people working were not. Only once and after we had finished eating were we approached to see if everything was okay ----- we had over a $ 76 dollar bill and left $ 80 dollars and i am saying as a server for over 30 years ---YOU EARN YOUR TIPS---- read more

There was only one lady running basically everything- serving food, collecting the bill, seating people, answering the phone, etc and you could tell she was very stressed out, and therefore wasn't necessarily being the nicest. But I get that it was from lack of help and not anything on purpose. The main reason I gave 2 stars was the food, it really wasn't very good. I probably wouldn't come back. So charming and cozy!!! we ate here twice for dinner during our stay on the island. The food is delicious, portions are generous, and the staff is all super friendly and welcoming. Excellent cocktails from the bar too, we had 2 variations of a hot spiced apple cider that were amazing ( among several other mescal cocktails). The chef here is young, energetic, talented, and creative. They do everything in house on site. Be prepared to be wowed, my girlfriend and I can't wait to go back.
