To say that Langley is a small town is an understatement. Most of the stores tend to be open for tourists on the weekend and if you come during the start or the early week and didn't know that, you find out that they roll up the sidewalks by 16-1700 (4-5 pm). However, small towns do tend to truly have one-of-a-kind gems, and THE BRAEBURN RESTAURANT is one of them. This come-as-you-are, neighborhood eatery is a step above a "Diner". It has a small bar and the glassware is all made by the glassblowing store right next door.  Which only adds to its feeling of local and community. The seating is comfortable all around and there is even a small outdoor patio. Even working with a reduced team, I found the service to be very fast, and I don't mind that I have to still scan a QR code to get the menu. I enjoyed a chicken sandwich that had two VERY crispy pieces of chicken that were juicy with perfect skin. It was served on a brioche bun with mayo, pickles, red onions and I added bacon.  I washed this down a Stardust IPA that seems to be common in the area. All in all, if you ever want a weekend get-away from the city, not only can I recommend this town and this restaurant. The ONLY thing I didn't like about it was that they serve their beer in mason jars. Which is cool but, the lips around them tend to dribble as you drink. read more

This place is a little gem in the small municipality of Langley. We came here early right as they opened to make sure we got a table. Food was delicious. As you can see from my photo it was an absolute bash. Chicken was cooked beautifully and the maple butter had great mouth feel- you can tell chef had a good time making it. This place is so cute and quaint. They make you feel welcomed. They have created a menu that sets them apart from the others. The ingredients used in their food is very thoughtful because their flavors really shine through. My son really enjoyed the country fried pork chop! I LOVED the fried chicken benny! My husband said his cowboy burrito was so good that he refused to share. We're definitely looking forward to taking another ferry to enjoy some good eats right there! read more

Came here on MLK day around 11:30am and were seated within ~8 min for party of 2. All the staff were friendly, and the interior was very trendy and clean. We ordered the Cowboy Burrito and Chicken and Waffles, and both were delicious! My fiancé commented on how such he liked the salsa with the burrito and overall as pleased. The potatoes that came with the burrito were still good, but not as crunchy, crispy on the edges like some people might be expecting. As for me, I LOVVVED my Chicken and Waffles. The waffle was thick but still cooked all the way through, and the pieces of chicken were massive. The flavor of the breading on the chicken was by far one of the best I've had, and the chicken was so tender and juicy! My food was so filling that I couldn't finish my last quarter of waffle, but at that point I ran out of chicken and syrup anyways. read more

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on this beautiful fall day. The coffee is amazing, he got iced and I got hot. We ordered two of their signature dishes, the Nasty and The Braeburn. The food was delicious and unique, and the service was great! It was super busy when we got sitted, which was okay. Bloody mary was good, I ordered the chocken and waffles which was really good, except the goat cheese didn't go with it. Hubs had a Reuben (which he called a p*ssed a*s Reuben) which had the teensiest of thousand island dressing. (They took it off our bill) I would go there again, to try something else. Had a pretty good size party but was able to get a table. After we all ordered it took awhile for the food to come out, which was ok since we had about 10 people. The general consensus was the food was not good. The meatloaf was more bread than meat & the 3 people who ordered didn't care for the flavor, I had the risotto & it was okay. The people that had the fried chicken said it was dry & just ok. After the meal was served, our waiter, barely came around our table . A guest of the table had to go tell him we were ready for checks & then he brought over 1 check when at least 1 couple said we wanted separate. The server finally took care of that, but we sat there for a good 20 minutes waiting. Will probably not go back which is a bummer since we like to support local businesses. read more

The time is 2:50 pm August 2nd 2024. We got on the waitlist at 12:45 pm. Quite incredible that at the time that I am writing this message, the food has yet to arrive. Not blaming the staff as the equipment is not under their purview but with 10 minutes to close I am curious if they're just going to ask us to take the food home with us. Regardless, after we had waited an hour it was only then we found out that their chicken and pork items were off the menu due to equipment issues. Would've been nice to know prior to waiting so long. Alas, 2 hours into this ordeal we've been visited twice and have only received our drinks and small pieces of bread. Mind you, we placed our orders soon after having sat. Our food was not brought out at the same time, leaving some people waiting even longer than others. When we asked the waitress when the equipment had problems. She told us it had happened around 11. The lack of transparency about the situation, the wait time, and the wait for food is part of the reason for the low review. Terrible experience, hopefully this restaurant brings joy to others in the future cause it certainly won't be me. read more

I brought an out of town guest here for lunch after picking her up at the Clinton Ferry. First, the service (albeit friendly) was incredibly slow despite being seemingly well-staffed. We each ordered a sandwich with a side of potato salad. Her BLT was pretty lackluster. My Ruben was terrible. I'm not sure the meat was even pastrami. It seemed more like the consistency of chipped beef that had been over cooked to the point of being dry and crumbly, but then was glued together with some melted Swiss cheese. The potato salad with apple and bacon sounded promising but tasted overwhelmingly of what we could only guess was garlic powder and liquid smoke. Very bizarre and unappealing taste. read more

For a brunch place, the coffee was horrible. The mocha tasted cheap - like they pumped Hershey's syrup in my coffee. The special of the day was good! That's where the three stars come in. I love the look of the inside of this place. Almost Vermont like with all the wide beadboard. Green paint with the white beadboard just made the place look aost stark but still inviting. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend ordered the mash. Also ordered a maple bacon old fashioned which was quite tasty. Presentation was lovely on both plates. And, everything tasted great. My only complaint was was that the eggs benedict were only lukewarm. I know they heated the plates because I felt the rim. I think sometimes you have a very delicate situation because you don't want to overheat the poached eggs because they will cook more, but the hollandaise must be very warm to override that situation without the hollandaise breaking. Also, is fantastic is a biscuit looked, it needed more salt and had very little flavor. That said, I would ome here again. read more

Took a trip to Langley and stumbled upon this quant little restaurant. My wife and I originally came to Langley for just a cup of coffee and when we noticed this place we walked right in. Upon first impression it looks very nice. New paint, modern, and bright. No hostess at first but one lady showed up and asked how many. I said two, the lady then said okay I think it will be like 20-30 minutes, even though I noticed several tables open. I was slightly taken aback by that but whatever, I just shrugged it off, most likely I was just hungry, she did seem flustered anyway. Thankfully the bar was open seating so we sat right down. Our sever was awesome and friendly. The coffee was great! The mugs were funny random and unique, giving small coffeeshop vibes. I ordered The Saratoga omelette and my wife ordered the chicken & waffles and OMG! The food was phenomenal. My omelette had red onions, greens, pesto and goat cheese and it was *chefs kiss*. Even the chicken & waffles were perfect, the chicken was juicy and tender served with real maple syrup. 10/10 will be coming back soon. read more

Such a hard review to write. Everyone has an off day and unfortunately it was one of those today we felt. Not sure if it's the chief that's been changed or what. The last time we came the chicken and waffles were so amazing that we kept wanting to come back. And we tried coming back three times in the past but we were not never able to get a table due to its popularity or we showed up on a day that's closed. Today we brought other grandparents & the kids and after patiently waited 90mins for our table and waiting another full hour for our food. We were sourly disappointed with our food. The batter for the fried chicken was extremely salty. The waffles came out cold and hard as a cardboard. The street front on 2nd Street is filled with stores, The Braeburn Restaurant is located right in the heart of that street. The decor and friendly service is what you noticed first! Day trip to Whidbey Island started with breakfast in Langley at The Braeburn. Short wait for a table, of which they had both inside and two outside areas for seating. Both front of house and table staff were great, which is why this review is as high as three stars. The food was mediocre at best. Not sure how a brunch restaurant can mess up pancakes, but their kitchen definitely managed it. My wife and I dined here on a Sunday morning during the town's annual "Murder Mystery", which brings in a ton of tourist and patrons to restaurants. With that being said, restaurants all had a wait time, and this restaurant did not have a call ahead option. We had to put our name down and the wait was about an hour. No big deal, we totally understood the situation. There's a nice coffee shop across the street we waited at until our table was ready. Once seated, we had a very friendly, knowledgeable waiter. He was the only waiter for the side of the restaurant we were on, so he was slammed, but yet took the time to explain everything to us. For drinks, I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary with bacon! It was definitely spicy, but in the perfect way. My wife ordered a pineapple mimosa, which isn't on the menu, but definitely should be--it was delicious! For meal options, my wife got the Braeburn. The chicken was so crispy and the seasoning was spot on. This is a big hit! For me, I ordered a double cheeseburger, which also isn't on the menu, but they completely accommodated my unnecessary food order. The burger was massive, had delicious melted cheddar cheese, house made pickles, onions, tomatoes, and a good amount of mayo for dressing. The burger was absolutely fantastic! The restaurant was busy and the ambiance is hustle and bustle, but we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. The Braeburn is a must stop for brunch if you're in Langley! read more

I really wish I could give this place a higher review because so much of my own experience is circumstantial to me. I really hope to come back to this place and maybe dine in to get the real experience and upgrade the review. We ordered take out because of COVID and it was all pretty decent. My wife and here sister shared the fried chicken for two plate. I ate a piece of the chicken and it was average to me..? Nothing amazing tbh. I got the French dip sandwich and the worst part of all... they forgot to add the dipping au ju to the bag!! And it was such a bummer because the sandwich was actually really good - just dry because there was no sauce. Can't have a French dip without the dip :( All in all, I think the fried chicken would have been better if it was fresh out of the kitchen, and the French dip would have been amazing if they packed the dip. read more

We had a predictably long wait because we went for brunch on a holiday weekend, but easily amused ourselves window shopping and walking along the waterfront. Completely worth the wait. I had the chicken and waffles which was absolutely flawless - maple compound butter on the waffle, perfectly fried chicken, a generous serving. I'm not a clean plate person and that dish went back spotless lol! My daughter had the stuffed French toast and said she's not usually a huge fan of compote but this was different. Friendly, quick service, great cozy vibe in the restaurant. Real coffee drinks, fountain Coke products (Iykyk). Absolutely worth a detour. We'll be back! read more
