Really good brunch! Came here during our day trip to whidbey island. There was a 30 min wait so we passed time by walking around the cute area. Theres plenty to see so it didn't feel like a long wait. Husband got the breakfast burrito. He said it was really good, only con was that the salsa that came with it was like an ice slushy which would have preferred not cold. I got the salmon hash which I thought was one of the best hashes I've tried. The eggs and potatoes were seasoned and cooked perfectly and there was a lot of salmon - good ratio of everything. Only other con was that after we got seated we waited 30 mins to get our food. But service was really good and we could tell the cooks were busy with other tickets. Beautiful homey brunch location-- that is the only way I can describe it! It's located right next to the fire station that's been repurposed to a glass ornament store that you cannot miss as soon as you drive into Langley from the Clinton station. I saw signs that there is parking located nearby but we just parked on the street in the small shopping area. We ordered the fried chicken plate with roasted local greens and potatos as our side and a salmon skillet with biscuits and eggs on the side. The fried chicken on the plate was fairly thin with majority of it being batter. The greens tasted like the alcohol hadn't been fully cooked off yet. The biscuits were extremely buttery and not salty at all, a huge plus if you asked my party! However the salmon was sort of lacking in flavor as well. Our server was really nice and gave us 4 plates to share the orders amongst ourselves. There is a restroom outside near the outdoor patio seating and conveniently there is the access code right at the door to the patio. There are also "to go" containers near that exit as well. Very mixed feelings about our brunch. The food was mostly great. The service was not. Decaf coffee came cold. Asked them to make a new pot. Later, when we got refills, it was cold again. As the saying goes, if 99% of the people in a restaurant are white, stick with the sandwich/burger and you'll be fine. And this time, I was more than fine. I didn't expect my pulled pork sandwich to be this good. It was tender, juicy, and most importantly, packed with flavor. Every piece of pork was soaked in and had absorbed the barbecue sauce, a true flavor bomb. It even reminded me of some of the pork stew dishes my grandma used to make, and she's not European American. Honestly, I wasn't too excited when I noticed the lack of demographic diversity as I walked in. I was worried it'd be just another overpriced sandwich seasoned with only salt and pepper, but luckily, that wasn't the case. The burger bun was actually my favorite kind of bun (oh geez, I hate when Instagram influencers say "wow, that's actually good" about some mediocre high protein low fat dessert nonsense, but now I kind of have to use this phrase here). Firstly, I highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist online ASAP- you'll likely still have decent time to stroll around downtown Langley. The food and service was great. Thoroughly enjoyed my generous slangin' salmon plate, and maple iced latte with cold foam. The raspberry jam and spiced apple spread they have tableside is phenomenal, as well as their ketchup, which also tastes spiced and less cloyingly sweet than storebought generic. Great fried chicken dinner! I don't normally order fried chicken, but this one peaked my interest. Passing through town we stopped for dinner. We weren't interested in a popular place where food is overpriced and to be able to say, "I ate there". We just wanted good food and didn't have to wait 90 minutes just for a table. No problem finding street parking, and no wait if you're okay sitting outside (which was perfect since the weather was nice). There's a restroom nearby too (just need an access code). I have only one negative thing to say about The Braeburn, so I might as well get it out of the way at the start: the front of house management needs a little work. When we checked in, we were quoted a 1 hour, 20 minute wait time, which was fine with us; we received the text message with our place in the queue, and proceeded to wander about Langley Village and do some shopping, window and otherwise. We would occasionally wander back by the restaurant and glance in, noting a handful of un-bussed tables that say there for a good portion of that time. Around the one hour mark, we decided to head back and sit in the lobby area, as the weather was a bit cold, wet and windy. We happened to notice one of the tables previously mentioned had been bussed, and was sitting there idle. After about 15 minutes, I remarked sarcastically to my wife that "if they seat us at that table, I'm going to be a little upset." I'm sure you can guess where we ended up. Now, I'm no restaurant manager, host, or server, but when a table is wide open, there is no shortage of waitstaff, and customers are made to wait simply because someone doesn't know how to turn tables...if I *were* a manager, I would not be happy. There was literally no reason for such an extended wait, only to end up at a table that had been empty for close to 30 minutes. And to be clear, this wasn't the only open table: there were several that sat unused for extended periods of time, before, during and after our meal, all of which could have been put to effective use and bringing in income and tips more efficiently. All told, I say this not because it irritated me (it did, but only slightly), as I am no drama queen, and I don't get my feathers ruffled very easily. That said, this sort of mismanagement can harm a restaurants reputation AND bottom line, and I've seen more than one fold because they couldn't flip tables fast enough to keep up with costs. This is absolutely an integral skill that cannot be trusted with people who don't have the capacity to be aware of the restaurant's state of capacity at all times. Anyway, I digress. How was the meal, and the service...the actually important parts, from a customer's standpoint? Exquisite! Our server, a bearded, red-headed gentleman whose name I shamefully failed to collect, was fantastic: welcoming, efficient, helpful, encouraging, personable - everything a spectacular server should be! The spicy Bloody Mary that I ordered ranks easily in my Top 3 of all time, and the Shakshuka (plus sausage) blew every other iteration of the dish I've had out of the water, hands down. If and when we ever come back to Langley, I will order this, without question, and without consulting the menu, along with another (or two) of those Bloody Marys. Similarly, my wife ordered the Pumpkin Pancakes, with bacon and an added side of sausage, and loved every single bite (as did our two-year old son, who shared them with her). However, the portion was so unbelievably large that, even between the two of them, almost half was left remaining, and since we had a 4 hour drive back home, there was no way they would survive, and they had to be left behind. I guess I should also note one more slight negative, that being the time it took for our order to arrive. Our drinks came quick as a flash, but the entrées themselves were somewhere near a half hour behind them. Considering how busy the restaurant was, I guess that shouldn't be surprising, but it is something of which to be aware, since this, plus the wait times for seating, means your investment in a meal at the Braeburn is likely to be a 2 hour affair, so bear that in mind if you have time-sensitive plans. There is no doubt in my mind why the Braeburn is popular; even one of the local shopkeepers remarked that a lot of their business comes from people waiting for a table there, and it's easy to see why. Unfortunately, its those wait times that are the only blemish on this otherwise impeccable experience. Although if the hour+ wait times are helping to keep the other businesses in Langley Village afloat, perhaps its for the best? read more

Okay, look: if you go on a perfect summer Saturday (and then go again on the following perfect summer Sunday) at 10:30 in the morning, you're going to wait for a table. Somewhere in the neighborhood of an hour. They're cool about it, though, so they'll text you when your table is ready. You can use the time to do something else fun - join a protest, say... or just people-watch in the sun. Whatever else you do, don't go to Langley (or anywhere else in South Whidbey, and *not* eat at the Braeburn. This place is seriously spectacular. Over two brunches we tried roughly 1/3 of the breakfast side of the menu and everything was delicious. The namesake chicken and waffles dish killed. The special beef hash was an absolute winner (smoked mushrooms, people!). The special chicken and waffles dish was a revelation (again with the smoking...this time BOURBON NECTARINES!!!). They have fun (and tasty) coffee drinks, and probably a lot of other things that we'll definitely try the next time we're on the island. I almost forgot...the breakfast bread pudding! Aaaagggghhh.... Seriously, this is a brunchie must-try. The service was rather slow due to the incredible volume of people at each table, but the food is definitely ten THOUSAND percent worth the wait. Our server, though I didn't catch his name, was incredibly apologetic for the wait and gave us some wonderful recommendations. I had the tomato basil soup (v) and the veggie hash, and wow... It's a very nice, bright, and cozy space. First thing we noticed were the beautiful water glasses they used (which is provided by the studio next door). I tried the country fried pork chop - it was good. At first glance, it looked incredible. Once I started eating it, it didn't quite live up to how it looked. Pork chop was done well. Gravy was a not as flavourful as I had expected, and the potatoes were a bit soggy. Egg and biscuit were fine. But high points for being a bit different. A good portion size. The family shared a Tuna Melt Lunch Combo and the Chicken & Waffle and they were happy with their meal. Service was super friendly. We were treated like regulars and made us feel right at home. I've been coming to the Braeburn for years and they never disappoint. Everything on the menu is delicious from the eggs benedict to the stuffed french toast. You have to order the breakfast potatoes which are my favorite by far. They also have a really good espresso martini. I hadn't been here in a few years since I moved off island and they renovated the inside and it is gorgeous. It's also set up nicely to keep the line moving. read more
