Open mic and shopping, my passions
    Kevin L.

Ellie and Emily were excellent hosts for a Thursday night open mic. They are also the most friendly people we met this week in Nashville, I mean everyone in Nashville were friendly, just Emily and Ellie were extra! Cozy and very good sounding stage. Rich and decadent espresso. Unique vintage clothing for men and women, with affordable pricing. Very cool rock bike leather jackets made by Bowery Vault. Will be back!

Stage with live music at any time, play here yourself or catch a cool band.

Today, I had the good fortune of discovering The Bowery Vault. To say this artfully curated vintage clothing shop has charm is an understatement. It's a time portal. Hang out, have a beer, try on some (affordable!) clothes, hope you catch a talented band while they're on residency. Either way, GO THERE.

Now that Southern Grist has been acquired by XUL Beer Company in Knoxville another Amazing brewery I've visited several times and watched grow. This feels like two epic forces coming together. Think of it like two legendary bands collaborating on a "Greatest Hits Mixtape." I can't wait to see what comes next from this powerhouse combo! Today I went with a couple of flights and here's how it shook out: Engywook - Wild stuff. The cinnamon and nutmeg absolutely jump out at you. A small taster was perfect for me it's definitely a conversation starter. PG&J Mixtape: Grape - This is my jam (literally). So good. Sweet, nostalgic, perfectly balanced. In my opinion, one of the best in the country. Freezes & Hoverboards - Solid beer, well made, just not my personal favorite of the lineup. Peach Black Currant Strawberry Hill - Very good. Big, layered fruit flavor with great depth. Strawberry Delight Hill - Sooooo good! This is a must-have. Bright, flavorful, and dangerously easy to drink. Peanut Butter Copra - A stout with peanuts and a hint of toasted coconut. Let this one warm up a bit and the flavors really open up. Rich and smooth. Batch One Theory: 10th Anniversary Stout - Very good anniversary brew. I caught a subtle barleywine note blending into the stout character -- complex and interesting. Overall, this is a great place to sample some seriously creative beers. Plenty of space to sit inside or out, relax, and work your way through a flight. If you're a fan of bold flavors and breweries that aren't afraid to experiment, this is your spot.

While I loved their O.G. location, I think their new location is an amazing improvement. Tons of free parking, a delicious in-house food vendor, a beautiful patio space, and of course, the gnome murals we all know and love ... this is the quintessential neighborhood brewery! If it's your first time at Crazy Gnome, I highly recommend ordering a flight. It's a fabulous way to try a few of their signature offerings without committing to a full order. Their drafts rotate regularly - and I love asking what's new on tap whenever I have the chance to stop in! I also love their sister brand - Cyanide Cider - which is crisp, dry, and also available on draft. Come hungry, because FAB Pizza is a must-order. Crazy Gnome is family-friendly, and they put on a variety of events throughout the year, which is all listed on a calendar on their website.

I forgot the name of my beer but it was one of the fruity options and it was very good. The prices are pretty decent and good seating indoors and outdoors. Otherwise you can try to find street parking somewhere around.

The atmosphere is exceedingly diverting, and the service unfailingly attentive. Their selection of drinks and cocktails proves most agreeable, and the live music, I must say, is of exceptional quality lending the evening an air of spirited delight. We placed an order for two cocktails and we opened up a tab. We then proceeded to place an order of food. We finished our cocktails and finished our food. After waiting for about 15 minutes and no one acknowledged us, we waved one of the bartenders down as she approached the cash register and requested to close out. The bartender seemed bothered that we flagged her down and quickly turned back using a micro aggressive tone and responded that she needed to complete helping a customer before she can help us. I have worked in customer service/food and cocktail industry and her tone/response was completely unnecessary. We have been to a few "dive" bars in the past In CA, NY, AZ, TX, AL and other parts of Tennessee and we have never encountered a response like that before. Maybe it was a busy Saturday afternoon or maybe they do not cater to diversity. Regardless we will not be returning.

And from the moment we saw the M.L. Rose sign go up, we were absolutely pumped to have one of our favorite spots coming to our end of town! This location anchors a small plaza and is deceivingly large. Upon entry you walk into the large space that holds the host(ess) stand, waiting area to the left with a few games and cocktail tables, then it opens up to the bar and the main dining area...if you walk through this area and take a hard left it opens up into even more seating...then you hit the door and wander into a delightful two-spaced patio! All the spaces have the M.L. vibe, they did not miss a beat there...but what this location does have that others do not is the large-suspended owl in the dining space leading to the patio. A cool piece for sure! We have no absolute favorites at M.L. as we have sampled our way through the menu across the city. A few go-to's are the chicken nachos and Sgt. Pepper burger, both absolute legends and always delish! I do also enjoy the wings, even though the price of $22 for 12 gives a bit of sticker shock. Recently tried the Brussels and they were tasty as well. Of course, the bar is always on point as well. The taps are flowing and the beers on rotations are always solid. Parking here is plentiful on both sides of the building. As long as you are in and out within 2 hours it is complimentary, but the main lot is a pay lot. Service was great from entry to exit.
