My favorite dive bar ever..."dive" being the operative word. If you're looking for decor or attentive service look elsewhere. But if great music, cold beer and an on- site food truck speaks to you, you're going to love it. The highlight for me is the music. On every one of my visits they have had multiple bands playing 5 or 6 songs and then moving to the next. With the quality of musicians in Nashville, it is always outstanding. read more

I visited the 5 Spot the other night on a recommendation from a friend. The music there was a Waymores reunion concert. I had never heard of them but one of the musicians introduced himself to me out of the blue which was very nice-- thank you, Don Henry. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the harmonies, the playing, and the song writing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One thing that the Five Spot has in spades is an a-mazing sound system. We were in Nashville for a few days and after dinner our first night decided to head to the 5 Spot because it was nearby. We figured being the music-centered town it is, we'd have decent luck most places (and could move along if we didn't). The 5 Spot was great! We likedthe vibe, both bands we heard, and the selection of beer, n/a, and CBD drinks available in addition to liquor. It's a great dive/music venue and we arrived to a decent crowd even at an early-ish hour (we arrived around 8:30). We'd definitely be back next time we're in town. read more

First time tourist in Nashville and had 1 night out during a conference. I landed at the 5 Spot after trying to find music on Broadway, which I quickly learned was not my vibe. I love this little dive bar. Small, friendly crowds. Seen a couple really cool bands like Tim Carroll trio, and the Tiger Beats. The french fries here are so good I get them every time. Just a great spot where you can go see a band at 6pm, and be home before it gets dark. Super easy to get to, and parking is not hard to find. read more

Went for the first time for the Funky Good Time Dance Party. Cover was just $10 which for Nashville is pretty cheap. It was absolutely amazing, great dancing and great cocktails. Bartender was nice and the bathrooms were clean. Has a pretty neat area for smoking or if you just need to be able to hear yourself think. I honestly hate leaving bad reviews but I've been to the 5 spot a few times before and have had this issue twice. My boyfriend and I went there for NYE this past weekend and when tabbing out tipped $15 on a $20 tab. I have now been charged $50 but since I don't keep receipts from bars I can't dispute it. I was not inebriated and am completely sure of what was paid. Unless there was a $15 charge for tabs that night, someone just added to their tip. read more

Came for a Lightnin 100 event. It was filled with tons of people, but they have plenty of standing room and a handful of tables with stools to choose from. Tons of beer choices to choose from with good prices. The downside was that the female restroom was flooded. read more

Well if not, let me tell you about it... you may have been born in the 90's, maybe even the early 2000's but let me tell you, you know a LOT of Motown and it's the best music for dancing. Yes it's a DJ, and yes you're in Nashville, but this place is worth it! You'll see amazing dancers pick up and jive with folks they never knew and your jaw will drop to the floor. How did they do that move? How are they so well coordinated? Impressive doesn't begin to describe the dancing at 5 spot. If you're in need of a break, head to the back patio for some fresh air and a moment to think to yourself, but then lace up your shoes and get back up there because this will be the best Monday night you've had in a long time! read more

My life is like a series of ADHD moments. You got into one thing with a good intention and then it snowballs into something completely different than the direction you were going for. This is exactly what happened to me on Monday night when I was sitting in the Starbucks near my home where my complete was open ready to do homework. The guy next to me at said Starbucks started talking to me about one thing and we landed on the subject of swing dancing. He told me that dancing was going to take place that night at The 5 Spot. I had never heard of it nor did I know of its dancing. I had only been swing dancing at one spot so far here and though I enjoyed it, I was looking for something that offered something more. I considered going to Brentwood, but it is my understanding they are a bit of a more babyboomer crowd. I love dancing with them, but I enjoy a mix of all ages versus it being lopsided in the aging of dancers. I packed up my laptop, ran home to change and off I was to The 5 Spot. I arrived before 9pm where I got free entry. After 9, it costs to enter and dance. They call it Motown Mondays, but truly is a mix of all genres from the 50s to 70s. They offered more traditional swing and rock n roll until 10:30pm before turning it up to some other stuff. I loved it. The crowd evolved with the music. Once the swing dancing music concluded, many of those people dispersed and a new type of crowd appeared. It was extremely lively and fun. Everyone had a great time, especially me! I didn't leave until nearly midnight. This was on a Monday, too, as I said! Drinks were reasonable. I didn't have anything, however, after talking to a few fellow dancers and getting to know them - they vouched that the bartenders served up some booze heavy pours. All drinks are under $10. Parking might be a bit painful, but if you get there early like me - you won't have any issues. Just leave all valuables in the trunk of the car or leave them at home since they really do not have a place for you to store them. What to wear - wear comfortable shoes! Ladies typically wear weekend attire or period clothing of the era of swing dancing. I personally always wear a dress with leggings because if I am spinning around, I sure don't want any of my stuff being shown. Guys wear jeans usually or slacks along with a casual shirt or button down. Again, this vastly depends on how deep you are into the swing dancing scene. People later in the evening wore clothes that were more suited for going out than for deliberate dancing like the earlier crowd. This particular night I went, they did have a DJ. This would seem pretty obvious from the above statements, but the 5 Spot does have live music as well. was drugged by the bartender. He used two different bottles of fernet for our shots, one of which was hidden in the back of the fridge. We had two shots and a beer. I blacked out and was found on the side of the road. I have drank far more and never had this problem. After talking to other people in nashville, it seems drugging there is a common occurrence. This is such an amazing music venue and bar. It's atmosphere and service are reason enough to go there, but the owners were a driving force behind sustaining so many music venues during the Covid pandemic. One of the beautiful things about Nashville is the live music ! I love that is a smoke fee place so you can enjoy it without feeling the smoker heaviness and smell. The cover was $10 and the show was great that night. They have a full bar and also they had a food truck but you can make the orders at the bar and pick it up at the food truck outside. Here for funky music $10 cover Bring id Wow we came for a show on Saturday night and was suppose to start at 9pm but it was 1030 and hasn't started yet! They were still trying to set up and it was for funky music yet since it was Cinco de mayo -- they were just playing the "themed" music. We waited until 1030 and realize that they were stalling this whole time. My local friends love this place and took us here because they usually come on Sundays and they were as outraged and thrown off as we were that this was acceptable. read more

I know, I know... when in Nashville I am supposed to listen to the plethora of still undiscovered country singers on Broadway Ave and appreciate the lyrical geniuses strumming their acoustic tunes on songwriters nights. I noticed their anger/frustration was mostly towards young folks (like freshly 21 and early 20s) and I am assuming they were just trying to set a precedent of "don't eff off around here". I loved this little venue. It is not in the chaos of downtown, but also not so far away from lots of things going on. The night I went was a 90s coverband. There was a cover at the door ($10) but it supposedly was a fundraiser to get women into music, so I was fine paying it. We got there moderately early and there was plenty of space. I can imagine it gets packed for more popular artists. The drinks were shockingly cheap and bartenders were super easy going and nice. Bathrooms weren't the cleanest, but what do you expect from a divey venue. The venue is small enough to feel intimate, but not too small that it holds enough people. This place is rather eclectic with the music. Nothing outstanding to remarkable about this bar. The sound system is great. Nice back patio. Parking is a bit challenging. Bathroom could use a good cleaning and the painting of Elvis is rather creepy. The menu was posted in the bathroom. Lol. A bit expensive for drinks. The music was good from the first band. The second band needed a lot more practice. Not up to Nashville standards by any means. For a cover charged bar, I'd expect better. The doorman was t very pleasant. The bartender worked his butt off.
