The two stars for me comes with a mixture of ridiculously high prices and not so friendly service. The prices are a little outrageous, and maybe that's just because I'm not some super wealthy individual. But I can't justify spending over $100 on a shirt for my 2 or 6 year old nieces. Then comes the service. Everytime I come in to look around I'm faced with two scenarios: 1. They think I'm stealing and hound me like a hawk. 2. They treat me like there's no way I could afford anything in their store, so I become leper-zoned. It really ruins the experience for me, making it difficult to ever want to actually splurge on anything they sell there.

Know before you go in that you are probably going to spend $100-150 per outfit. (And you can get some of that money back reselling on eBay or in kids consignment if you take good care of them.) I have purchased outfits for photographs at Piper on four separate occasions and have had assistance with selection and fit that was helpful and respectful. I returned a couple of items that we didn't end up using with no trouble at all. My only complaint might be the limited sizes available. There were dresses and shoes I would have purchased, but they did not have my daughter's size in stock. However, it's a small store with only so much room for stock.

This little store can easily cost me $$$ because I want to get one of everything. I also really enjoy their active social media presence and seeing all the new products come in. Very nicely curated and styled so even though it's a small space, it seems to pack a lot in there and the displays are constantly changing. Only complaints? Since it's a small boutique, the sizes I need are often sold out, especially if I'm trying to get my boys to match so I can't always find the right item in the right size. And second, I've sadly noticed the quality isn't as good as some of their Target and Gap standards. Several pieces that cost more than my clothes are already losing threads after one wash or starting to pill. So I feel I end up shopping here to support local and enjoy the cute trends, but not necessarily to find items that will last all season or be passed down.

This store is a little fancy, but not overly so. It's very carefully curated, and the color palate is beige-taupe-oatmeal-neutral toned. It's like if Restoration Hardware created a baby store. If you're looking for neutral baby clothes, Hey Little Diddle is your place. The prices are a little too rich for my blood, as I prefer outfitting babies and toddlers in hand-me-downs that they can throw up on, fall down in, get muddy and messy, and also don't cost $125. The clothing here is adorable, though, and you won't find outfits like these anywhere else in the area. I wasn't looking for baby clothes, but more like toys or trinkets. Lunch Money Boutique emphasizes sustainable fashion for the kiddos (Am I the only one who wrestles with whether to spell it as kiddos or kiddoes?). Lunch Money is located next to Byrne's Grilled Pizza. I really do love this corner, though it's definitely more of a premium corner in terms of shopping. Lunch Money? The styles are adorable (and yes, leaning toward "luxury"). The employees are friendly. The store itself is nicely designed and a genuinely pleasing atmosphere. I'm not sure what it says about me that these newborns have better fashion sense than I do, but if their parents shop here it's definitely true. For those with mobility issues, entering from the back is your best option in terms of accessibility. There is a step up-front. It's my one major downer for this entire neighborhood - it's just not particularly wheelchair friendly. I didn't end up buying anything on this visit, though I undoubtedly would. If you're looking for more premium options and care about sustainability, I'd definitely recommend a visit here. As an added plus, this is also the same building as Kids Ink. While I'm getting old enough that most of my friends don't have young children, on those occasions when I am looking for options for the children in my life I won't hesitate to return here.

This store is not a local mom-and-pop shop, but it's worth mentioning on here because the clothing is so well made and so much nicer than almost anything else you'll find around. It's actually part of the Gymboree Company, but these clothes seem to be a step up from even that. They are more "boutique" in style, I think, and the prices reflect that. Be ready to spend a pretty, shiny penny on anything you get here. But it's worth it. Especially if you're shopping for a new baby. After doing that, I was then told everything needed to be refolded again. Completely unnecessary and a waste of time. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and acted like helping customers was a burden. Combined with the slow process and how selective they are, it's just not worth it. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be the norm--long waits, inconsistent rules, and very low payouts. Honestly, I don't understand how this place stays in business when the experience is this unpleasant. Save your time and take your items somewhere that actually values customers.
