I'm happy to update my review, and positively, at that! This Once Upon a Child location saved the day. I was driving all around town trying to find pajama pants that would fit my tall son. It's surprising how difficult it is to find older boys' pajama pants. Anyway, I thought to try Once Upon a Child, and they had a plethora of pajama pants to choose from. It was a relief. I grabbed three pairs of pants for under $20, too! The service was great: fast and friendly. The aisles were organized and the store was clean. I will definitely be back to shop again! read more

This store WAS good and now gets worse and worse every time I come . One minute they begging for clothes seasonal and toys, you bring it in and leave with the same bags you came with. WASTE. When I walked in I was "Wowed" with the brightness and organization of the store. The end caps were carefully thought of with shoes, jackets, etc to complete an outfit. The selection of Winter jackets is incredible. If you are looking for baseball cleats this is your place. The staff was super friendly and even helped me find a particular item I was looking for among the vast inventory. I understand there are new owners. If you're familiar with other Once Upon a Child locations, note that this one is much less organized and clean. I was surprised to see so much of the inventory scattered in the walkways and the staff wasn't as helpful as I've seen elsewhere. Ultimately, we found a few pairs of winter boots so I'll call it a success. Given all of the other locations in the area, I'll probably go elsewhere in the future for a more organized experience. Unlike other locations where the staff check in your items, this location has a self service kiosk. I wasn't aware of this and the staff member present, whom was a younger Hispanic woman, watched me just stand there for over 10 minutes when I genuinely didn't know about the kiosk. I dropped of my items around 11 am and was not texted to pick them up until 6 pm! Phone was disconnected so I couldn't call! Just beyond horrible service! read more

store is becoming a joke they always say they need seasonal items or looking for a lot of clothing the amount of times we have gone in there and their offers are a joke. don't advertise certain things when you can't make a decent offer, like really 12 dollars for taking a pair of shoes and a few items. we have seen your shelves half the time and they are bare. we also know true and well that the clothes we bring are either near new or in great condition but tall way to picky for being a kids clothing store. read more

I went here for the first time for the purpose of consigning some items and figured I'd also check out the items for sale while I was there. The consignment check in process was really simple. You give your phone number and then receive a text to sign up. You just need to enter your contact info and drivers license. Then, you receive a text when your items are ready for review. I used the downtime to look around the shop and WOW they have a lot of stuff! The items were well organized by gender, size and type. It was easy to find what I was looking for. I picked out a set of 12 month Burt's Bees pajamas that were in great shape for $5! This store has so much more than clothes; there is a wide selection of baby gear from bassinets to strollers to walkers. I did not have to wait long to receive my text that my consignment items were ready for review, but keep in mind I went right when they opened at 9:30am on Saturday, and it wasn't very busy at all. I was offered $20 for my items, which included about 3 new-with-tags items and probably a dozen new or like new items without tags. So, don't go in thinking you're gonna become rich! But, if you're looking to get some items off your hands and into someone else's hands who can use them, plus earn a little extra cash, this is a great place to go! Great place for the deals and products they sell and membership deals but seems their employees lack customer service experience and empathy in general. Considering it's a discount store for family's you would think you could get a "how can I help you?" or "are you ready to check out?". No you get eye rolls and standing at the register trying to control your kid(s) while people glare at you until finally someone says something and makes you the inconvenience because you didn't say something sooner I'm guessing? Anyway this store is the closest to my house and my daughter grows like a weed so I'll still be going but I've learned my lesson about going in with expectations of a pleasant atmosphere. read more

I was looking for toys but found the organization to be about the same as Goodwill. Their kids' clothing was very nicely organized and displayed, but it's like they just gave up and threw all the medium-sized toys in open bins, on the wall. Staff was not welcoming and seemed put out to have to stop sorting clothes to get something down from on top of clothing rack. I WANT to shop here because of need and convenience, but I may be driving further to get what I am looking for. read more

Being a first time mom during a global pandemic presents quite a challenge. So having Once Upon a Child take the time to create curbside pickup orders with new and gently used clothing pieces was a wonderful experience! They had $25 and $50 grab bags that they took time to put together and I loved all of the options they picked. Here's what you need to know about this Once Upon A Child location: -There is a Dunkin Donuts across the parking lot if you need to fuel up before bargain hunting. - They have a few carts for you to shop with or plop a baby carrier in there - Come ready to hunt, there are a lot of well-worn/dated/off-brand items to pick through before you find those good ones! - I've never waited less than 25 mins (an eternity if shopping w/kiddos in tow!) for then to sort through my items and make an offer, regardless of the # of people ahead of me - Call ahead if you're in the market for something specific to see if they have any. -They buy based on inventory so call ahead and ask what they need. If you sell items they have an abundance of you'll get next to nothing for it. Summer clean out time. Cleaned out my teens closets and took a quick trip into Plato's Closet with an overflowing tote, 20 mins tops and I was out of there with $46.00, they also told me I had a couple youth xl sizes they could not buy and recommended I take them to Once Upon a Child I thought, ok, quick trip 30 minutes after they open how bad could it be? I was told 2 people were ahead of me and I could not leave the store or even sit in my car outside the store or my items would go to the end of the line so I stood for 40 minutes because they do not provide chairs and looked at their dirty floor but then decided to sit for the additional 80+ minutes of my time there on the window seal next to some dust bunnies. Oh and does it make sense that 4 people were working and the 2 that were checking the clothes to purchase were the ones that kept stopping to ring people up while the other 2 girls were hanging clothes on hangers off too the side? Nope not at all!! Plus, they saw every large object that came in the door BEFORE my 1/2 tote! Store is still very chaotic and messy, but going on my lunch hour rather than in the evenings guaranteed less chaos from the mini me set :-) I went in again looking for snowsuits for my 15 month old grand daughter since I was successful last fall. Found one that isn't very thick but will do as a backup for her daycare. Found some other cute stuff...and a halloween costume...6 items all for under $30. Unbeknownst to me...on Thursdays every article of clothing for 0-24 months is an additional 25% off. Score!! read more

Their sign says "we give you $$$" but in reality they give you pennies on a dollar. When they take stuff from you they want to purchase, usually they cover it with a big item so other small items below the big item aren't "visible" so when they offer you $10 it doesn't seem very low lol. They turned away my Gymboree, gap clothes said the tag was "too old", I bought the same clothes back in a week and they accepted almost all of them lol. read more

I've popped in a couple of times to shop. Both times I've found clothes I wanted to buy, I like that the selection is eclectic, there are brands that I like, and the prices are fantastic. (Last week I bought 8 items for a total of $35). All of the clothes I bought were clean, although I of course wash everything again when I get it home. Kids grow out of clothes so fast, I feel that shopping here makes a lot of sense. read more

I have shopped here before and come home to stained or ripped clothes. What they give you for items to sell is pitiful.....then mark it up 4x what they gave you ((I have a specific example of selling something for $5 and later saw they marked it $20.) Also, they would not "buy" a piece of clothing that I just bought there but didn't have the receipt. At first, she said that it had a flaw. When she couldn't find the flaw, then another one said "well, maybe we have too many of those right now. The return policy is crap 30 days OK great,but when I bring back baby shoes with Price tags. You only offer me a 2$ for them when you sold them to me for 12$ So you mark them up over 10times the amount once on me and your going to do it again on some one else. I have Such a hard time with spending so much money on brand new clothes for her when I know I won't be passing them down. My only gripe is that I wish things were more organized sometimes. I am a frequent shopper and have found many great buys. It's usually the first place I go when my daughter needs something in particular whether that be snow boots or a new size clothing. If you are selling clothes they make you stay in the store which for a busy mom is very hard because I spent 2 hours in there one time waiting for them to go through my clothes. Imagine a 1 year old in a store for 2 hours waiting. The staff is also rude. This location will not be getting my businesses anymore. The one in speedway is much better. There you can drop your clothes and run your errands come back and pick up your money and the staff is much friendlier. read more

I rarely buy anything here unless I am selling - the prices are a little high for what you get. I have seen used items tagged at $4-5 that are the same price or lower at Target or Kohl's. Today's experience was wretched...when I brought in my outgrown toys & clothes I was told that there were 4 people ahead of me. Almost 2 hours later, they were finally through with my stuff. Overall the staff acted like they really hated their jobs and the customers, but the girl helping me was kind. I think I would rather donate my old stuff to Goodwill than deal with this again...it was one of those things where I'd gotten myself far enough that I wasn't going to quit on if, but in hindsight I really should have bailed after the first hour wandering the aisles! read more

Before yesterday I had only always went to the Carmel location, however after a bad Experience there of being lied to by a very rude Customer Service Associate who was doing the buying for the store, and a VERY gruff older lady who was also working. My family and went here to this location, they were VERY nice here to us all, and had a nice children's area and they didn't seem to care that my oldest was even trying to play with the toys that were for sale. The clothing selection at this store was Awesome for both of my children, and they were Very patient with us, even though they were pretty busy, They still took time to look over Everything well, and explained to us about the clothing that they didn't buy, and gave us good prices for what they did buy.plus the gave us a frequent buyer/seller card, that allows you to get points for what you spend and sell, and at the end of the card, you get more $$ off of what you buy from them, plus right now they are giving out coupons to be used for the month of May, anytime in May, so as a busy wife and mom, I am super happy about getting coupons especially for children's clothing and toys and books ect. This store location is MUCH further from our home, than the Carmel location, however this 86th street location is where I will be coming again when I am ready to buy or sell my children's things. read more

Very upset!! I had a credit of $15 on a bonus buck with the expiration date left blank. I went back months later and picked out some cute clothes for my daughters bday. When I got to the counter the cashier was very rude and said that it had expired. When I pointed out the expiration date was left blank she said an employee must have forgotten to fill it out.
