This review is specifically for the pizza. I have had a lot of wood fired pizza and a lot of pizza Opinions. That may be the best Neapolitan-style pizza crust I've ever had. Not exaggerating. It's perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. Then they give you this special dipping oil for the crust that is just...magic. It's magic. I don't know what's in it. (The pizza I had was pepperoni and I did appreciate that they went all out on the meat. ) The grounds are lovely, beautiful little corner of the world next to a river and lots of outdoor seating. read more

I love this place! I love everything about it! They (Sava) did such a great job at making The Boro a distination for all people and events. Its suitable for a dinner party or special occassion (but make reservations), and it's also perfect and accomodating for families (kids/dogs) if you want to pop by for a pizza (wood-fired-- amazingly yummy....seriously, the best I've tasted!) and sit outside by the creek (tons of space and picnic tables). You can even pop into the bar to grab an alcholohic drink (bring it outside to your picnic table), and then wait for them to bring the pizza to your table. It was so easy, relaxing, delicious, and reasonably priced. It was the highlight of our day (completely unexpected and unplanned)-- we'll definitely be making this a weekly family outing. My wife and I were excited for our first experience at The Boro. We parked at 10:05 am, walked in and ordered two honey and cinnamon oat milk lattes, Almond Croissant, and the "breakfast sandwich" with no cheese off the morning menu. We then waited in our car to receive our order. Our experience is a mixed one, both good and bad. At around 10:15 someone came to our car and told us they were out of almond croissant so we opted for a chocolate one instead. We waited until 10:34 to get our order. The honey and cinnamon lattes tasted so good, but unfortunately they were lukewarm at best. We then waited to get home before we dived into our eats. The chocolate croissant was sooooo good and melted in your mouth. Definitely recommend. Just the right amount of chocolate for our tastes. The sandwich was really good too. The bread it is made on was amazing! Almost a mix between a good brioche bun and a biscuit. The texture was something we have never had before. Unfortunately it had cheese on it, which was the one thing we had ordered it without. The box it came in even said "no cheese". The good...tasty drinks and the food is delicious. The bad...long wait time. Almost seemed like they forgot about our order. We waited 30 minutes for two drinks, a croissant, and a breakfast sandwich. Our drinks were lukewarm, the croissant we originally ordered wasn't available, and the sandwich we ordered without cheese came with cheese. Saw reviews and decided to pick up a mushroom pizza from pictures alone. Will say I'm not a pizza person as I dislike tomato's. The mushroom being a cheese base was amazing. I got it with friends and we have spoke about it often due to how delicious it was. It's what I would hope any stone or fully handmade pizza should be made as. The mushroom was weirdly sweet, the ham and pineapple, the pineapple was burnt, the sausage one could have been OK but huge hunks of sausage tended to fall off the slices. The only one I'd give a passing grade to was the garlic one. All were unevenly cooked. Gooey in the middle, some burnt on the crusts. Overall a very disappointing experience. read more

Having lived in California and a big lover of tartine, I was super excited to have this come to A2. Unfortunately so far the bakery doesn't live up to the hype. I got both the croissant and the almond croissant on a Sunday morning. Both were over done and outside tasted bitter and burnt to me. If I'm paying $5 for a pastry, I'm expecting better results. Hoping they will work out their kinks since this is their soft opening. Other issues included tiny to go area so you have to wait outside if you want to avoid close contact with other patrons, and they don't have a separate card swiper set up, so you have to hand over your card to the cashier. They do have a remote ordering option and they will bring stuff to the car. But if you want to see the available options, this is what you have to deal with. read more

Tried this spot for the first time tonight, and overall thought the experience was worthwhile. We dined in (which has only been open for a week) and loved the space. It's open, light, and has a great ambience. We ordered the potato puffs, the scallops, the burrata, and the asparagus salad. The presentation of all the dishes was great. However, they were all very acidic and/or salty (to an extent where it took away from the experience of eating them). The scallops were by far the favorite and had a great texture, while the potato puffs were the least as they were accompanied by a hollandaise sauce that was SO ACIDIC. Lastly, get THE MORNING BUN. It was an amazing pastry with the perfect level of sugar and crunch. I hope this place works out the kinks and finds the right balance of acid/salt because it's a great space with great staff! read more

Amazing restaurant! I loved aventura and was feeling very sad about not being able to go. But then I heard that the owner of aventura and Sava opened this new restaurant with a Michelin star chef from San Francisco. His resume is quite impressive: competed on top chef, worked at the French laundry in San Fran and many more. His wife is also the pastry chef (pastry's are amazing). The food is incredible but also vegetable filled and healthy. The produce is so fresh doesn't taste like it is from Michigan. Prices are reasonable for the high quality. In the pandemic they have outdoor seating with heaters that was not that cold even on a 45 degree day. Also it was dog friendly! The indoors is stunning and is projected to be opening in early may. We had the dinner prosciutto, Brussels sprouts and chicken. Custom cocktails look delicious. Also, the breakfast also looks incredible will be trying next time. This new place is a wonderful addition to the Ann Arbor food community specially in the area where it is located. There is no other restaurant like this. Once the pandemic is over I am sure they will grab a lot of crowd. Over all it is a very nice and big place with efficient service and plenty of free parking. During the pandemic they are encouraging everyone to order 15 minutes before and do a takeout. They do have plenty of outdoor sitting arrangements under warm heating lamps. There pastries looked good and the prices were not cheap but didn't look very pricey either. I had one latte with honey and cinnamon flavour and I suppose they have only one size of drink. My drink costed me near about $5 and was really good. I had learnt that there salmon was one of the best from my friend so I ordered the smoked salmon for my main course and I have to admit that it was the best tasted salmon I had. It was moist and the lite glazed outer surface was doing its magic. The avocado sauce was so nicely balanced with savoury and citrusy touch in it. It was full of different types of tastes in one bite. But that being said it was way way to pricey. The portion was super small. It came with no sides. I got three large bones in my salmon. The fennel's in the salmon was so hard I couldn't chew on them. If I am paying $20 plus $5 tip I do expect much out of it. Specially in Ann Arbor area where food game is really top notch. I am not at all impressed with my food in terms of the value of it Other than the taste. I will definitely give this place few more tryout before I come to my final judgment. But I am happy to see another new addition to this wonderful community. They are wearing masks , gloves. There were hand sanitizer and they did separate used and unused pen in two different containers. 2nd visit, Crispy Otoro Tart, flavor wise is good but not the texture. Why does it call crispy when the whole thing is soggy. $60 Duck Breast, I thought I would get a half duck but it came only 1 side of duck breast. Not that I can't afford but I was just had duck somewhere else $100 and I got whole duck Risotto, I'm sure Thai restaurant intentionally want to make all the Italian upset. I never have risotto that's looks like and texture like breakfast oatmeal. I think I would call it porridge or pudding but not risotto. read more

This is a considerably over-priced restaurant with delusions of grandeur. The menu is ala carte so your 55-80$ entre doesn't include a salad or even a vegetable. The low priced options are pizza and a burger. These are 20$ plus. My sausage pizza was not impressive, either in the toppings, which were scanty nor flavor, which was bland. Dominos is not far away from Dixboro location and would provide a better pie. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The pace of the meal was right for a group of friends who wanted to linger over the food. My wife liked the Cod and another friend enjoyed the oysters. The Caesar salad was small and uninteresting, without anchovies, the Fennel salad was a strange jello-on-endive concoction. The wine list was again overpriced, but the wine was good quality. For 6 people, including desserts, which were not very good, the tab came to 540$, including tip. This might seem reasonable to some people, but our table avoided the expensive menu items, and still ran a tab much higher than we wished. It was an experience that we would not plan to repeat. If value for cost is no issue to you, the Dixboro Project might be a place for you. Worth the hype!!!!! I drive through Dixboro everyday and have EAGERLY awaited the opening of this restaurant. As of right now, they have a limited menu and are only open for take out. I stopped on a Saturday for a coffee before heading into the office. Their bakery items look amazing. I ended up having a bacon/cheddar/chive scone. Only thing that would have made it better is if I had warmed it up. I love the kosher salt on the top. They have plenty of sweet items as well. The latte was absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to stop and try their pizzas, cocktails and other menu items. I highly suggest viewing their menu prior to visiting and ordering online. They will bring items to your car. When I stopped on a Saturday morning at 9:30 it was already busy! They have great plans for the restaurant and the grounds around the restaurant. I can't wait to visit again! read more

I had been meaning to try this place for awhile, and since the weather is nice, I decided it was time for a late lunch on the patio. The space is beautiful, it's a lovely drive, and it was nice to sit outside. The signs to find the order counter were very confusing. The cheese pizza was delicious, the cheeses, crust, and sauce were all on point. It was a touch on the greasy side and needed a little finishing salt. We waited nearly a year to go here on friends' recommendations, and can honestly say it offers delicious food for outrageous prices in a reasonably quiet atmosphere. Try $75 for a 16-oz steak. First, who needs 16 ounces of cow meat; second, seriously? And forget about a pre-dinner cocktail unless you want to pay for a glass what you could make with a bottle. We opted for meals that were "only" in the $40 range and got exactly what we expected: really wonderful chef-prepared food with great plating and perfect portions (unless you're a fan of those Buca De Beppo/Cheesecake Factory portions that need a suitcase to lug the leftovers in). But as someone else noted here, there are chef-driven places all over town with more reasonable "look at these fancy prices" prices. Unfortunately have to rate this a one-and-done. read more

YUM! I saw a "now open" sign while driving by so I called in to check-they're doing to-go orders right now! I ordered three pizzas: the mushroom, the sausage, and the margarita and chose to do curb-side pickup. You park at a numbered spot, call in and tell them which spot you're parked in, and they bring your order right out! The pizzas took around 30 minutes from the time I called in until the time I picked them up. All of the pizzas were really tasty, especially the mushroom and the sausage!! Wanted to try this place out because we've heard great things! Cool ambience, very secluded with a ton of space outdoors and very modern inside. Great cocktail selection unique and fancy drinks. Amazing Polenta - just melts in your mouth such a great flavor. Yummy Focaccia bread! For entrees we tried a few things, Scallops were delicious loved the pistachios sprinkled around them. Roast Duck was phenomenal - Chef's favorite thing to make so of course I had to try. Super crispy and had a tasty blackberry sweet curry sauce that went with it. Brown Butter Chicken was wonderful! Chicken was so soft and moist surrounded by a pesto rice/beans that were oh so delicious. All the food we had here was fantastic! My only cons: Pricey Drinks around $20 each Entrees $45+ and small portion sizes, one dish is not enough for one person. The only entree that was a decent size and filled up the whole plate was the half chicken. Otherwise order a few starters / accompaniments like the risotto or focaccia to help fill you up. Here we sit waiting for our food. It's been one hour. They did not inform us of the long wait. Secondly, the drink we ordered arrived in a container that looked liked a flask that had a lid. A small amount of the drink made me nauseous. on closer inspecroon the drink had an expiration date that was over 2 weeks ago. when I complained they took the rest of the drink, did not offer a replacemenr. After a request for a replacement they declined because we had already had the drink that was making my stomach rumble because I had had a very small amount of a very expensive drink. Some how it was my fault that they served spoiled outdated ingredient. I was finally able to visit this place with my ladies for lunch on Monday (so a lot less crowds, that was good) We ordered 2 pizzas and a salad to share. It was good & enough portions for 3 ladies so we couldn't try their pastries and deserts at the end. I love the outdoor seatings and indoor, too. The stuffs are so nice and kind to let us move in inside once it started raining so hard. Unable to make a reservation at The Boro, we waited for our table at the high top tables found next to the bar. We were able to order drinks while we waited for them to text us that our table was ready. The elderberry spritz was a nice refreshing cocktail. They had a good variety of drink options. We had 3 couples in our party. Each couple ordered one entree and one pizza to split. It was plenty of food for all of us. Next time I would easily get the fresh spaghetti for myself. It was composed of grilled spring onion pesto, burrata, and summer truffle. It was so delicious that it made it hard to share! read more

Came here on a Friday, parked and ordered thru the online menu. It sucks you can't see the baked goods, but I trusted my gut. I got the pain au chocolate, croissant, and savory scone. The croissants are absolutely delicious--I saw someone say they were a little burnt on the outside, so they may have off days, but the day I went was amazing. If you've ever been to Bouchon in Napa (I live in CA and visited my partner over winter break), it was on par with them. Absolutely fantastic. The scone was delicious, really would make a fantastic breakfast sandwich. I also picked up the charcuterie. You should def have some extra bread on hand, because their (admittedly delicious) toast isn't quite enough for the massive portion. Easily feeds 4 people. A little pricey, but no more than what I'd expect from an eaterie in the Bay Area. I remember coming here six or so months ago and seeing it in the process of being built, and it looks very modern and chic. read more

I have one principle when it comes to fine dining- it should be worth the value. And The Boro, for me, ticks off all the boxes. Going by the reviews, I felt the quantity would be quite less. So to be on the safer side, I ordered more. Me and my spouse ordered, mushroom pizza, crispy chicken cutlets, bread pudding and brûlée cheesecake. To my surprise, the quantity was so much, that we felt that we can easily have 3 meals with this amount of food. We agreed if we had just ordered either of the entrees and the bread pudding, it would have been enough. My partner's chicken cutlets was a meal in itself, it had carbs, greens, salad and protein. My husband felt the cutlets were a bit on the drier side, but overall it was good. He liked the cheesecake more. I am a bit allergic to cheese and that's why I avoid eating pizza. But to my pleasant surprise, I found that there was very less cheese in the pizza. There was a hint of sweetness, maybe it was from the aged maple. There was a generous drizzle of rosemary which balanced it out. The mushroom were bite sized and didn't absolutely blend in with the crust, which I liked. And I love thin crust pizza, which this pizza was. The wood fired flavoured thin crust reminded me of pizza from Mani Osteria, another of my favourite places for pizza. My teeniest gumption was the food would have tasted better if it would have been hot. But maybe it got cold, on the way home, as we have ordered a takeout. I liked the bread pudding, it reminded me of bread puddings my grandmother used to make. My spouse said, he preferred the cheesecake but I would still go by the bread pudding, as I have not seen bread puddings much, here. And to the added bonus, I found chunks of chocolate in the pudding. Overall, me and my partner, both of us has reached this consensus-- we are coming back for more experience. read more

The building's interior is beautiful with great art and subtle but classic furnishings. The exterior fits into the wooded surroundings perfectly and the style is modern and rustically chic. The wait staff is excellent. Our bartender and server were both courteous, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive. Unfortunately, the food was overly complicated and disappointing. I had the scallops, and for the price the portion was small, but beautifully presented. The dish was so salty that, after a bite or two, I couldn't taste anything else. The wood fired pizza was uninspiring, just average in taste and presentation. If I had to recommend a visit, I would say, "just have a drink to see the architecture and environment, but skip the food." read more

The pricing is outrageous and overvalued. Coors and Miller light $6? Basic cocktails ranging from $16-25$?! It's not like we're on a roof top bar in NYC. The food was unremarkable and the dishes did not come out together. Focaccia was tasty but edges were burnt. I received my dish first and my boyfriend didn't receive his dish well after I finished mine and after I already waited for his dish to come out. I am not sure why his dish was so delayed. We ordered the risotto as well and it had to be the worst $16 spent. It was also delivered AFTER we finished our pasta dishes even thought it was ordered as a side. It was also incredibly salty and such a small portion. The timing of the food was awful. Overall, nothing on the menu was valued appropriately but the service, plate presentation and decor was nice. 0/10 would not recommend and will never return unless I feel like wasting my money and time. read more

Saturday night, knowing this place would be busy, I stopped by and put my name down for a table for two at 6:30 pm. I was told 1.5 hours, gave the hostess my number, and confirmed she would text when ready. By 8 pm, still no text. By 8:15 pm, I was asking the hostess for an update. First, she asked if my reservation could be under another name. Then, she told me she texted me, but I never showed. When I asked her what time she texted, she told me she couldn't remember. I had my phone out the entire time, never got a message; the hostess was lying. She attempted to shove us off to the bar, which appeared to be a habitual tactic in this place. We ended up getting seated at a table just before 9 pm. 2.5 hours of waiting for drinks that were watered down, pizza that had great flavor, but flimsy/mushy texture, scallops that were almost inedibly salty and mealy after losing their sear to a thick sauce, and pasta that tasted like literal dirt. The chocolate tart for dessert was fine, not great. Additionally, the manager was pandering to the table next to us because they had waited 2.5 hours for a table. She introduced them to the chef, chatted with them incessantly, and brought them one of every dessert on the house. She didn't even so much as ask our table how our evening was going, despite us being situated 6 inches behind her. If you are one of those managers that walks around to tables to check in, one would think you would care enough to walk to EVERY table, especially considering we also waited 2.5 hours for a table. The only redeeming aspect of this experience was our server, John. He was polite, knowledgable, and was the only staff member who acted like he cared about his diners' enjoyment. I realize that this restaurant is so busy that they don't have to care about a few unhappy diners, but when you enter into HOSPITALITY, you should, at least, pretend to care. I will neither be returning nor recommending The Boro to anyone else. read more

Arguably one of the best restaurants in Ann Arbor (tied with Miss Kim and Spencer). I docked one star because occasionally they are really slow and the food can be a bit off for their guest chef events. Otherwise, it's solid and one of my favorite places for brunch, cocktails, and wood fired pizza. I appreciate their menu is seasonal, but one of my favorite meals there was oysters with a strawberry mignonette, hamachi crudo, and a lil' gem salad with a bottle of bubbly rose. Yum! Their seasonal egg dishes are also great when the herbs come from their garden. For dinner, you can't go wrong with one of the maple mushroom pizzas. Cute ambiance too. read more

I went to take out and was about to give my order and the cashier decided to by pass me and help the guy behind me first who was returning his pizzas because they were cold. When I commented there was no apology. Then I ordered my drink and she asked me if I wanted hot. I said yes. As she went to enter it into the register she said "that's cold right?" No attention span. However, the real issue was she and the other girl did not even wait until the the door closed behind me before they decided to make a rude comment. Four of us had lunch here. The dishes are very cool. There are unique vases on each table with fresh wildflowers. Two of us split a pizza and salad. The pizza sauce was fantastic and the crust was perfect. The salad had great flavors with toasted almonds, fava beans and prosciutto. The water glasses were delicate and etched with flowers. I loved them! Every staff member was friendly and the service was great. It is a bit noisy since the ceilings are high and the floors are wood or tile.
