Okay, bare with me. My boyfriend and I visited The Bodhi during a lunch rush on a weekday on campus, which was obviously our mistake. However, that means I can speak to what's probably their busiest time of the day. The line was long, and there was a sign at the door that offers a discount if you order ahead online. We started to try, but we both wanted to ask questions about menu items so decided to stay in line. There's two areas in the small location, which you could consider more like a food stand that has an indoor area to order. It's VERY small. When you walk in, you're in line to order off the curated menu. If you want to build your own, you don't pay until after, but you have to leave the line and visit the Build Your Own area further into the space. I asked the girl at the register which sauces had dairy in them, and she gave me a wrong answer (per what the man at the BYO counter clarified later, and he gave me the impression he was an owner or manager). It was chaos in there - they were keeping tabs of orders by sticky note and word of mouth at the same time, and when my BYO bowl was done nobody would have noticed if I just walked out without paying. Obviously I paid, but I was concerned for them being that they're on a college campus and students can be reckless. We added those coconut/date energy ball things and sat outside in back. Our bowls were fine and it's definitely a solid cleaner food option - a great thing to have on campus - I would have loved this if I were still in school. The man who I think is an owner or manager actually came out back while we were eating, apologized to every group individually for the wait, and asked how the food is. THAT is why I'm giving this place four stars. I really appreciated the acknowledgement of the craziness and him being so personal with each table, and it ultimately made me happy to return (not during a lunch rush, though. Lol) If I remember correctly, the owners are former students and full of nutritionists/entrepreneurs and I love the concept. Keep going! read more

If you are a fan of clean eating with hearty, filling and satisfying food, Bodhi is a place you want to check out. This was my second time here and I will say that I enjoy this place. The Mother Earth bowl, inclusive of organic quinoa, onion, sweet potato, mushroom, red pepper, spinach, cucumber and pesto, was $9.45. I ordered this bowl off of the menu but if you don't like any of the options, you can make your own bowl! Overall, my food was great! For an extra two dollars, they offered a deal where you can get one of their fresh pressed juices. That certainly completed the meal! I like the food because it has just enough flavor without it being overwhelming or over powering. The only thing I would note that is not as positive is the fact that the Brussels sprouts were a little mushy and salty. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The place is clean and the employees are super nice, friendly and will always give me a little extra food! This place is located on College Ave near the ASU campus. I think the value for what you get is pretty good compared to some other places around the area. I do forget about this place since it's a little farther down College Ave but when I do remember, I never regret my decision! read more

Their juices are $5 and drop to about $3 with the purchase of a bowl. After tax and tip, lunch here was $16. Definitely on the pricier end, however all their ingredients are the definition of clean eating and taste delicious. Something worth mentioning is that these bowls come cold. The ingredients are laid out like Chipotle, however the vegetables and meats aren't hot. They still taste good, but the temperature caught me off guard. Also the juices are really small. There's plenty of seating inside (no outside seating) and most seating areas have outlets! Parking is metered street parking. Would I return? Maybe a few pay raises from now. read more

The service is extremely slow since there is only one person working. We ordered the "Early Bird" avocado toast with tomato and a hard boiled egg. We didn't find out they were out of hard boiled eggs until we had already paid and ordered. Inventory should be checked before costumers order and pay. They don't check inventory the last time we went there were moldy baked goods for sale. The building it self is also under construction and just does not seem like they are ready to be open. This was actually the worst avocado toast I've ever had and it wasn't cheap, idk how you mess up avocado toast but Bodhi sure does. Would not recommend. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Walked in and felt like I was home. Everything is fresh, organic, organized, and eco friendly. Plus, they have a selection of vegan friendly and gluten free menu options. I ordered The Spicy Vegan and my mouthed danced with every bite. Stopped in to grab dinner a couple days ago. I was craving something healthy and this seemed like the perfect spot. I wasn't sure how the process worked, but the girl helping me was very kind and patient. I did a build your bowl. You get a base, 4 toppings, a protein and a sauce. I got spinach with peppers + mushrooms + roasted potatoes + cucumbers topped with chicken. I got the chimicurrra sauce, but the server let me also try the basil pesto sauce which was also fabulous. There is 30 min parking that makes it convenient to grab and go. I usually try to avoid this area of Tempe, but I would come back for a healthy meal and a place that makes vegan an option. This was my first visit. Friends took me out to lunch and we divided on a healthy place close to campus. I had heard about Bodhi from a coworker who enjoyed his meal. The menu has many options. I settled on the Greek bowl which had falafel, kale, feta cheese, red peppers and more. Lentils and rice filled out the bowl. I am a volume eater so I like my plate full. When the dish came out I looked on the smallish side. Surprise! Half way through the meal, I was full. It must have been the healthy greens and grain. So good and I felt good knowing it was a healthy meal. There were two kinds of ice tea. I had the cactus bloom tea. No sweetener required! Amazing everything plant based I ordered the spicy vegan it was delicious yes it was all cold (I did not have any meat or eggs) in AZ being hot asf we need more of this. So yummy! I love finding new healthy "fast food" places. Parking is a little annoying being that it is right in the middle of college town but it's worth it. I always choose the build your own bowl option. As a base - I get cauliflower rice (it's the best cauliflower rice I have ever had, I want to know their secret!), then I add my veggies and protein. Everything can be sautéed together, making the meal warm and that much better. I LOVE their steak, the chicken is good as well and my hubby is obsessed with their turkey! You must get the spicy almond hummus as your sauce, it is so flavorful and has the perfect amount of spice. The portion sizes are great and food is decently priced. They also carry juices and have kombucha on tap - the way to my heart. I am hardly in the Tempe area but when I am I make it a point to get food here. My only critique is service... it could be a little faster. I understand why it's mostly young college kids working here but maybe they need 1-2 more people on staff at a time. read more

But it was cold. Precooked and pulled out of the fridge cold. $7 delivery fee + $3 in extra veggies and a total of almost $50 for JUST TWO BOWLS and you can't even get it delivered hot. This is the second time I've tried The Bodhi. I have left both times less than impressed. This time I ordered the Rise and Shine bowl. The sweet potatoes were literally burnt black on the outside and there was little spinach disbursed in the bowl. Was there lots of food? Yes, plenty of eggs, but the bowl lacked in flavor unless one liked the taste of"burnt sweet potatoes". This place is indeed healthy and earth conscious, but it certainly lacks in flavor. A lot of restaurants pay lip service to "healthy options" with whole wheat wraps and salads on the side butThe Bodhi serves actual whole food cooked simply with a good mix of legumes, green vegetables, whole grains and lean meat (optional) presented with far from ho-hum flavor thanks to amazing sauces. The spicy middle eastern bowl is amazing and something that makes a full wholesome dinner. It's counter style (take out or eat in) and informal but clean and friendly dining room. Highly recommended as a balm to the myriad gut-bomb-type restaurants in this area. read more

This place is hit-or-miss honestly. I had to retract my good review after my last visit. Id originally said only nice things and given them four stars but I can't stand by it. I usually order a build-your-own bowl, with half brown rice and half spinach, and this time they said "we've started charging an extra dollar if you get 1/2 and 1/2 base" and I was at a loss for words, how can you charge a whole extra dollar just because you had to take the time to scoop one more ingredient. I've been coming here for a year and I was already unimpressed with the consistency of their ingredients, you never know if the vegetables are going to be under- or over-cooked, so ordering online or over the phone is a gamble, but now I'm even more reluctant to go back. read more
