I'll admit, it is obviously a small business but I really wanted to give them a chance and I'm so glad I did. The smoothie itself was as smooth and immaculate as I was craving. Will be back soon :)

After a 3-hour plus hike at South Mountain, I was looking for a snack on a Saturday evening. I…read morehopped on the trusty Yelp app, and found that Robeks Fresh Juices & Smoothies wasn't a far drive from the park. I made my way over and parked in the lot they share with Nothing Bundt Cakes and several other businesses. While it's a busy shopping center, I didn't have trouble snagging free parking. Ambiance (3/5): Robeks is pretty much a grab-and-go spot. There's a counter inside, but not seating. Directly outside of the juice and smoothie bar, there are two or three tables. I sat outside after my order was ready. Service (3/5): Service isn't a big part of the experience. You order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. The employee working wasn't too friendly and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. All good. It happens. Drinks (N/A): While they have a good number of smoothies, I went with an acai bowl instead. Food (2/5): I'll start things off by saying I'm a big acai bowl fan. I've had them at so many locations that I've lost count. This was the worst acai bowl I had. I went with one of their seasonal selections that had an acai base, strawberries, bananas, "granola," and honey. Man, where to start. The acai base was on the lower side quality wise compared to what I've had pretty much elsewhere. I even found an ice cube in my acai. That was a first. The "granola," rather than being the standard granola you have everywhere, was partially rice krispies or something similar to that. I was super confused. And then when it came to the fruit, there were a total of five strawberry slices in my bowl. That's less than one strawberry. I don't know if I caught them on an off night or if this is the norm. Robeks has several locations across town. If you download their app, you get a discount on your first purchase. Which I'll think about doing. Outside of that, I don't think I'll return.

On this occasion, I got the super fruit bowl, which was really good and lower in sugar than some of the other bowls. I also grabbed the original mini açaí bowl for my husband. In hindsight, we probably could've just shared the original size and cut that in half. Overall, it was really good. I probably would've preferred more fruit as it seemed like you got the same amount of fruit whether you got the mini bowl or the original so I would've liked to see more of a fruit layer to be incorporated in the bowl that I got however I'm sold and I'll be back to try more.

I came on an overcast day, but can only imagine how refreshing this will be in the summer. They have a menu of different flavored lemonades, açaí bowls, toasts, flatbreads and Shaka salad bowls. This place is a must try! I ordered the original açaí as I've never had one, and it was delicious to say the least! I also ordered the mango pineapple lemonade and it was so good! Their lemonade base is Homeade and delicious. The lemonade sourness with the mango sweetness was incredible. Service was quick and hospitable. So I just drove there anyway. It's in a dated shopping mall next to a coffee spot and pizza place. These are purely protein powders mixed together to create the flavor of what you order off the menu. I didn't notice this until after I had ordered. I got the Banana Strawberry. However, that means I can speak to what's probably their busiest time of the day. The line was long, and there was a sign at the door that offers a discount if you order ahead online. We started to try, but we both wanted to ask questions about menu items so decided to stay in line. There's two areas in the small location, which you could consider more like a food stand that has an indoor area to order. It's VERY small. When you walk in, you're in line to order off the curated menu. If you want to build your own, you don't pay until after, but you have to leave the line and visit the Build Your Own area further into the space. I asked the girl at the register which sauces had dairy in them, and she gave me a wrong answer (per what the man at the BYO counter clarified later, and he gave me the impression he was an owner or manager). It was chaos in there - they were keeping tabs of orders by sticky note and word of mouth at the same time, and when my BYO bowl was done nobody would have noticed if I just walked out without paying. Obviously I paid, but I was concerned for them being that they're on a college campus and students can be reckless. We added those coconut/date energy ball things and sat outside in back. Our bowls were fine and it's definitely a solid cleaner food option - a great thing to have on campus - I would have loved this if I were still in school. The man who I think is an owner or manager actually came out back while we were eating, apologized to every group individually for the wait, and asked how the food is. THAT is why I'm giving this place four stars. I really appreciated the acknowledgement of the craziness and him being so personal with each table, and it ultimately made me happy to return (not during a lunch rush, though. Lol) If I remember correctly, the owners are former students and full of nutritionists/entrepreneurs and I love the concept. Keep going!
