Came here for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time. Their new back patio is also a really nice touch place to relax. Food: Of the fancier restaurants in the OBX area, this is one of the better ones. It's good for a nice meal or a fancy occasion. All of their seafood is fresh, local and changes per the season. But if you aren't a seafood fan, there is certainly other items on the menu to enjoy. Service: Service here is quick and the team know their menu and restaurant. Feel free to ask them questions or make special requests. Decor: The inside is a bit dark with dark furniture, but if you are lucky enough to sit by a window, you get a beautiful view of the sound. I do wish they highlighted their windows more but one look outside and you don't really care about the interior. It is very clean though. We noticed that they clean tables within minutes of folks leaving. Price: This is a staple of the nicer meals in OBX and fresh seafood is not cheap. For it's value, its priced well. No real knock to Aqua down the street but they are way overpriced for the area. Notable Extras: When I say fancy, its OBX fancy. Don't show up in flip flops for dinner with a hawaiian shirt but at least come in with an ironed shirt. Jackets are not required but you will see the range of folks that are more dressed up and folks at the bar more dressed down. Just don't be embarrassing and enjoy! read more

We came here last year just out of season and enjoyed it. Good food etc.. Returned today for a couple of late afternoon drinks and to book a table for this week. Sadly met with a very over fussy woman who took exception to our choice of table as we were only having drinks - even though the bartender had pointed at the table. Left with impression that diners mattered more than people having a drink, even though all the tables were empty. To make matters worse I asked for the WiFi password to be told 'we don't have public WiFi and can't give you the password'. Guess, a small bit of service goes a long way to build customer satisfaction. Maybe some places are just too busy now that Covid is over. I'll eat somewhere else this week. read more

This was highly recommended by the staff at the Hampton and they were dead on. As a matter of fact, they even called the restaurant for us so we could make reservations. I would definately suggest making reservations because they fill up quickly. We had reservations for 6:30 and while there were still tables available, by 7 pm the place was packed. We were promptly seated when we walked in the door, given menu's and drink orders taken. My iced tea was promptly delivered and our server apologized and explained that my wife's Pomegranite Martini would be out shortly. In the meantime, he explained the menu and specials and the Martini was delivered. We both chose items off of the dinner specials. I ordered the Flounder while my wife ordered Jumbo Lump Crabcakes. Both turned out excellent and while you don't normally see much of it, the presentation was excellent. For desert, she ordered Creme Brulee and I had the Pecan Tart. The Pecan Tart was good but not great because it was overly dry. It's a nice restaurant, an adventure in Find Dining at the Beach with a nice view of Albemarle Sound. Would recommend to anyone but again, make reservations. As we were leaving, they was having to turn away walk-in's because they did not have reservations. read more

The original fine dining option in Duck! Great food, interesting menu, attentive chefs and great service. This is a diverse menu with a lot of options to appeal to many palettes. You have a lot of seating options from tables, booths and high tables in the main dining room, to a quieter porch seating area, and finally a SUPERB lawn sound-front bar that his a hidden gem in Duck. Go there for sunsets, specials and live music. If you have a dinner reservation, get there an hour early and sit on the lawn and enjoy some cocktails. The food is excellent, but priced accordingly with smaller portions than you might expect. If you know that going in, you won't have any problems ordering 3-4 courses to experience many different flavors. OR, go for lunch to sample their menu with a much cheaper tab. While reservations may get full, if you show up as a couple later in the evening, you can probably get seated for a late dinner or deserts, so don't feel like you have to make reservations if you just want to play it by ear. We last visited Blue Point 3 years ago while on vacation, and if there was one thing I remembered, it was their porkchop. I was relieved to see it was still on the Manu albeit with different seasoning and sides. It is now serves with jerk seasoning, ham Mac n cheese, and grilled pineapple/pickled onions which was absolutely perfect. We started with the Shrimp ramen bowl which was OK, and I immediately regretted not ordering the soup of the day (red curry). My wife had the Mahi special with corn, avocado and some other veggies. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. For dessert we had the brownie which was unfortunately overcooked, but came with a very good raspberry swirl ice cream. Some hits and misses, but between our last visit and this one, I can't imagine too many better spots in the OBX. read more

We've eaten here for years and always considered them the best restaurant on the outer banks. I wasn't sure what this year would bring considering all I've read. Our reservation for an outdoor table (For 4) was successfully handled through Resy, and subsequent confirmations and information were helpful. We were seated promptly and professionally. The service throughout the evening was top notch, on a par with other years. The food and drink was excellent, even if slightly below our other visits. What made the evening so wonderful and earning a five star rating is the spectacular outdoor seating. While there is a roof the sides are completely open bringing in both the breeze off the sound and great sunset viewing. They didn't have high chairs which was strange, but my 1 1/2 year old used a booster seat (for the first time) and it worked fine. The cornbread basket was a nice touch. Made reservations through Yelp and it was seamless and without incident. We arrived at our time and were seated immediately and with perfect timing! We sat and watched the most glorious sunset right in front of us! We ordered cocktails - Me a BP Old Fashioned and my partner a French 75 (Monkey 47 gin, lemon juice and Bailey Lapierre Reserve Brut. and were able to just chill and enjoy the remnants of the sunset. I had read the menu and had my heart set on the Seared Scallops. Just perfect! The quinoa and veggies were a nice platform for the stars. My partner had the crabcakes and she raved. Two perfect little cakes that had no visible means of support, meaning no binding that we could detect. Great wines by the glass and a very attentive but relaxed wait staff. A really great evening. If you dare to walk in with a mask, be prepared to be treated like garbage. Twice now my husband and I have tried to eat here and been forced to leave. Tonight, we called ahead and were told that while outdoor tables can't technically be reserved they'd hold one for us. We arrived and were told that someone with a reservation arrived before us, and and someone sitting indoors decided to move outdoors, so it'd be at least an hour. Frustrating that this happened despite calling ahead, but the more aggravating part was the complete hostility of the hostess, rude tone, and complete lack of sympathy. She very matter-of-fact told us, "outdoor is full, you can sit inside". They have a serious arrogant/ego problem here, would recommend many other places in OBX if you don't want to be treated like a burden. read more

Beautiful restaurant located right on the boardwalk. Stunning views of the currituck sound make your dining experience truly wonderful. Stopped in just towards the end of lunch. Staff was pleasant and preparing for the evening. The menu selection was very appealing. Any restaurant that tells you the name of the chief and seus chief is going to be delicious. To me it shows that the chef takes pride in his meals. We ordered a variety of lunches. The Carolina pulled pork with house made chips. The quinoa salad topped with Mahi-mahi and avocado. Hearty meatloaf and garlic mash potatoes and the lump crab cake sandwich. When you go with family the benefit is you get to try all of it. The pulled pork was perfect the quinoa salad was so flavorful and refreshing. The meatloaf was moist and garlic mashed potatoes were perfect side for a nice southern comfort lunch. The lump crab cake sandwich was well-made excellent flavor one con with the crabcake was the size could be a little bigger given it's on the same size sandwich roll as the pulled pork. Came here for 25+ years. Food still OK. Service isn't just deteriorating though .... it's pretty much non-existent. no water refills. we saw our waitress 3 times and had to tracker her down for the bill. Over a 2 hr meal due to her cluelessness and the kitchen putting out food so slow. rent down the road a few times a year and I'll never be back. And will never suggest friends of mine go there. With the outdoor area the game has simply changed here. They don't care about or allocate enough staff to take care of the inside customers. We asked the maitre'd to help get drink refills when she came by. Said she'd tell our waitress. Watched her never even look for the waitress and go back up front. From an enjoyment perspective they'd be better off closing half their seating areas and doing a better job. But I doubt they will. They can print money with tourists by being less than average. read more

service was fine. the salad was alright but for $15 i expected more flavor and ingredients for the salad. additionally i would've thought seasoning (salt and pepper; at least) would be included for the $8 side of mac and cheese. i also appreciate a broiled mac and cheese moment but it felt like it was an attempt to camouflage the lack of flavor and seasoning my friend got the shrimp and grits and to her dismay, there was a veined shrimp included. on top of the sloppy preparation of the dish, it also lacked seasoning, the grits were coarse and it was accompanied by a dozen too many bay scallops. this was disappointing considering the dish was $33. the crème brûlée was fine but the crust was too thin for it to really crack. read more

Easy to park. We sat outside for lunch. There were not a lot of options to choose from on menu but everything sounded very good . I went with a seared tuna special which was fantastic. I'm normally a huge fan of The Blue Point, and so was excited to nab a reservation for my birthday dinner. The food, as usual, rocked. Really fantastic. The she-crab soup was fantastic, as was the low country sampler, the Scottish Salmon and the scallops. Cocktails were perfect and on point! One thing to add - would make sure to ask for crackers with the sampler. They serve it with just the bread basket and muffins. Otherwise you're eating a lot of bread. The service, however, was easily among the worst services we have ever experienced - and certainly not what we are used to at Blue Point. Took 2.25 hours to get thru dinner. And our server was haphazard and inconsistent. I have waited tables before and can say it wasn't because she was weeded. They had more than enough staff on hand to handle the patron load. It was that she didn't seem to grasp that dining out, especially at Blue Point, is about the experience. And she is responsible for helping to create that experience. She just didn't seem to care. Drinks took, on average, 20 minutes to appear. We ordered a bottle of wine right after our appetizer - it appeared well after we were done eating the main course (which sat on the table for 20 minutes after we had finished becuase our server never stopped back). She seemed irritated when we asked her to first tell us about the specials - it was as if she expected us to know them already! The first martini showed up in a rocks glass with ice. That had to be sent back, and she seemed shocked when we asked her to remake it (versus just strain it into an up glass) Food was strange in how it came out. The appetizers didn't come out together. The country sampler arrived in 15 minutes, which was acceptable. But it was a full 25 minutes AFTER the sampler appeared before the she-crab soup appetizer showed up. The most random food serving I have ever seen, the server seemed to act as if it were completely normal. We had 1 check-in after the mains were served and then nothing until the wine appeared, which was well after we.were done. The fantastic finish? We sent the bottle of wine back (because we didn't want to drink an entire bottle just for dessert), and the server complies, but then immediately brings the check - without our requesting it. Never asked if we wanted dessert, she was clearly ready for us to leave. We disappointed her (the look on her face showed it) when we asked to order dessert. I appreciate that she wanted to flip the table and get another set of customers there, but the 2.25 hour pace of dinner was completely her fault, not ours. Blue Point - you can do better. read more

When we got there, it was packed with people but John set us up outside for some drinks while we waited for our table. The menu did not make it easy to choose a meal because they all sounded so good, but I ended up getting the shrimp and clam platter with the she crab soup and it was delicious! The backyard seating for sunset was beautiful and the drinks were quality. I had the chocolate brownie with coffee ice cream which was the cherry on top of it all! We have been dining here for decades (many times / year). Visited last night and the servers were great and food as wonderful as ever, until.... Unfortunately, there was a very unruly 6 top across from us and not only loud but using very foul language. Requests to the host to deal with the situation resulted in no action. Not sure if i should have confronted these customers or not but our dinner was ruined by the experience. The worst part was that when i asked to speak with the manager after paying for our meal, the lady I spoke with was very condescending, unapologetic and made the conversation about us as opposed to what they could have or should have done to make it right. When i looked on the sight this morning to send them an email i noticed that the place is under new ownership. Too bad. We are reconsidering our long term patronage of this otherwise great tradition. read more

My family and I had a lovely dining experience at Blue Point. I loved the restaurant as soon as we walked in. The decorations were modern and elegant. The tables, lights and dinnerware were trendy and visually appealing. We sat on the back patio, which had live music, with our drinks while we waited to be seated. The food was phenomenal. I had serious difficulty deciding on an entree. Literally, every single menu item sounded delicious. I settled on the Local Mattamuskeet Jumbo Lump Crab Sauté with herb onion spoonbread, salmon and chopped tomatoes. It was served together in one big bowl. The blue crab was locally caught and tasted extremely fresh. I loved how the ingredients tasted mixed together. The variety of consistencies was perfect. I've never seen a similar dish on any other menu. My mom and Aunt ordered the fresh crab cakes, which were also amazing. They were served with a tasty lemon dil yogurt. For dessert, I ordered the espresso brownie with coffee ice cream. It was very good, if you don't mind a strong coffee taste (which I love). All of the ice cream is made at the restaurant. Our server, Elaine, was very attentive and helpful. She was happy to help make recommendations when we were feeling indecisive. She also could not have possibly been sweeter. If ever find myself in Duck, NC again, I will certainly be returning to Blue Point. read more

I was very impressed with this restaurant. From the moment walked in ownership/management made you feel like a local. Terrific interaction with customers. This was with a heavy New Year's Eve dinner crowd. You could tell the bartenders have a big local following and they interacted well with all their customers. It is difficult for a restaurant that caters to tourists to have a local feel and this one certainly does. Food was excellent. Appetizer wise we had the calamari (not fried and very well sauted). The tuna sashimi dish was very good as well. Not normal Sushi grade frozen tuna but fresh caught Atlantic tuna appeared. For dinner I had the flounder with succotash and it was excellent (not always a succotash fan but this was excellently prepared and would get again as the limas were well cooked - most places just don't get everything well cooked). Others had the short ribs and rockfish. Everyone thought there dish was excellent. Waiter gets an A+ with great interaction and recommendations. Overall the staff really made the experience great. I try to reserve 5 star for the best of places in my opinion and this one very much deserves that ranking. I'm not a regular to the outer banks but will surely make my way back here next time I have the opportunity. read more

Went to the Blue Point last weekend. Happy to report it's still our favorite restaurant in the Outer Banks! This time we even got a seat by the window and the sunset was GORGEOUS. COVID - felt super safe. Everyone had masks and tables were spaced appropriately or had clear walls between the booths. Food - excellent. Had sweet potato biscuits with ham and omg best thing I've had in a long time. My fiancé and I split the fish special which was just okay. Not a huge fan of rockfish but he really enjoyed it. Steak was delicious! We split some kind of apple dessert that was delish. I recommend you grab a drink at the back bar before you go for dinner. We enjoyed sitting by the water and had cocktails off their cocktail menu. read more

The setting, which is absolutely beautiful, is still amazing, but based on our recent visit, everything else has gone downhill. I ordered the cornmeal gnocci, which was a strange, soggy and tasteless. It took forever to get our food and our server said she couldn't do certain cocktails because who was bartending that night.
