Came here with a small group on a Saturday night. We found a table quickly and ordered once our server came by. I ordered the Galway Reuben which was good, while my friends ordered chicken tenders. They had a debate over whether Blue Lep's or Charley's had the better tenders. It's still being debated, but Blue Lep's tenders are certainly a better bang for your buck. As for the service, our server was nice and attentive, but the time it took to bring out the food was way too long. read more

I stopped by with a couple friends last night. Ordered a single bottle of beer and handed the bartender my card. When Jacob returned with my receipt I looked and a bottle of miller lite was $8.65 with the tip line and total like usual below. I inquired and asked how much a bottle of miller lite is to the other bartender and that is when they let me know that auto grat is included. This is illegal to not post that auto grat is added to all bills or verbally inform the customer. It also feels like they are stealing from customers with their dishonest customer service without informing them of auto grat and in addition to building the tip in to the total cost of the drink so it looks like I still needed to tip. This is bad ethical practice and poor service. read more

We had the meal delivered to us and the grilled cheese bread somehow had mold in it! When I called they told us to first bring them the moldy grilled cheese in the 16 degree weather when we had it delivered for a reason, and later changed to sending a picture of the mold. I came here on a Friday night around 11pm and the place was very empty. We got drinks and food, both of which were rather average. The drink menu is nearly the same as the menu at Brown Jug, except Blue Lep charges higher prices for the same drinks. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap and it was quite mediocre. It came with too much sauce and the chips on the side were a bit stale. You're better off going to Brown Jug or Charley's, as both offer better food and better drink specials. read more

My friend ordered chicken strips and fries and they were prolly the most bland and dry food I've ever had. It was honestly hard to even eat it so I would skip out on the food tbh. The drink selection is a lot more promising, so I would stay away. There's a dance floor type of situation goin on downstairs but we stayed upstairs because it was sooo dead lol I wanna try this place out again to give it a fair chance, but ehh idk. If you're a young woman stay away from this place!!!!!! As another reviewer said - this is the worst trashiest run down bar you can possibly go to in Ann Arbor. Tons of underage drinking. Everything is cheap and you'll be treated horribly by the staff. There's a 25% gratuity added to your bill with out for warning or explanation - how is that ethical? I wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy. Go to Brown jug, Circ, or Good Time Charles instead. A man was harassing me and threw a drink on me. For no reason. Pretty sure whoever works there most weekdays around dinner time totally judges my boyfriend and me. Let me tell you why. Firstly, we are here more often than we should be. The reason we are here all the time: half off appetizers until 9pm. I love drinking here on the weekends or on St. Patty's Day, but I'm here more for food than for drinks. Two pounds of wings end up being around $7. I liked the seasoned one a lot. I don't recommend getting their bleu cheese - it's watered down and almost tastes like beer batter? I don't know what it was, just odd. I also like getting the nachos with corned beef. It's an extra $3 for the corned beef, but they're super generous with it. Also, get the fried mushrooms and anything else fried. Karaoke nights are fun here on Wednesdays or so I hear. They do trivia as well. If you want mediocre foods and cheap drinks... then this place is for you... two great combination that draws college kids to this establishment. The place is always jammed packed and very noisy... don't go here if you want to have quiet place to chat with your buddies... rather go if you want to drink your stress away and don't want to think about the next day. My friends and I went here to view the last football game of the season for 2014 and it wasn't too packed. We came around second quarter and there was still a good amount of tables open. I got the buffalo chicken burger while my friend got the quesadilla. The other people ordered a bunch of appetizers to share. My buffalo chicken was decent, a bit too heavy on the sauce. I just got chips since the fries were extra $. My friend was not eating her quesadilla at all and the waitress came by to ask us how we were doing with the food. I replied "It's good, thanks!" and the waitress noticed my friend wasn't too happy with her food and offered to take it off her bill. I thought that was really good customer service. My friend didn't complained but the waitress still knew. I also stopped by here on a Friday night once to celebrate a friend's 21st and this place was packed! They have outside seating too for the nice summer nights. I think this is a good place for a college bar! But I think the food can be skipped. read more

That atmosphere was awesome! First time going there since it was a going away party. We went when there was a $10 special and 1 lb of wings and a pitcher of miller light. I had high hopes for Blue Lep from hearing about others experiences. I visited this past Saturday and was disappointed. I ordered the chips and queso and the chips were extremely stale. I then ordered a flatbread, about 15 minutes after ordering I was told they didn't have spinach, so my flatbread came out with the bread, feta, huge tomato slices, and canned olives on it along with whatever oil drizzle came on it. Very disappointing to look at and very disappointing to eat and pay full price for. My service was ok, but I would have preferred a different entree if I would have known it would look so sad. Would I go back? No, I would even drag my friends away from this place based on this experience as there are other places just a few doors down that at least have edible food. read more

One of the better restaurants/bars on south U based on price, but not as good as it used to be. They have a great happy hour, Monday- Saturday 4-8pm they have $3.50 well drinks, $4 bombs and $6 appetizers. Not as good as their original half off appetizers and $3 well drinks but definitely still a good deal. They DO NOT honor these specials during game days or special events which is kind of a bummer, but that can explain why they're not as packed as other bars on game day. They have a cool layout where there is room and a second bar in the basement, along with the bathrooms. This helps to spread out some of the crowd. As for the food, it's definitely good for bar food, but not exceptional. I can tell prices have gone up in recent years which is fair, but chicken tenders are $10 which seems steep because last time I remember them being $7.99 or so. Two words: grad night. On Tuesday nights everything is half off for grad students (except for Specials, which are cheap anyway). This means that my $7 Bombay Sapphire and tonic is only $3.50. It also means that you can get one of those, plus two shooters, three bombs, and an order of onion rings to share, for about $15. I don't know about you, but I have never found a place with as good of a deal. Now on to my second favorite part of the Blue Leprechaun: happy hour. Happy hour gets you dinner for a total of $3 (my favorite is the buffalo chicken strips), pints of various beers for $2 and well drinks for $1.50 before 8pm, besides the daily specials that last all night. The place is never that crowded during the week, and the chill atmosphere is accompanied by songs that make you say, "Oh, man, I remember this song. This song is awesome!" Various sporting events are always playing on TVs above your head, and the waitstaff is accepting of requests to change the channel. And speaking of waitstaff...on Tuesday nights we always have the same waiter who is both attentive and friendly. He is patient with our indecisiveness and even sits down to chat about various topics, such as how our days are going and "that weird guy at the bar." The bottom line is: if you are a poor grad student and need to take a break during the week, the Blue Leprechaun is the perfect place to hang out with friends and drink to all the work you should be doing. read more

Still, there were stiff vodka pineapples, shimmery shots, an appearance by the Michigan basketball team and their "entourage," and just lots of the general revelry and idiocy that people envision when they imagine "college." CHEEEEEEAAAPPP! Or shall I say 'inexpensive' for all of you that love to come here, but don't want to be classified as cheap. We went last night and drank like little fishies...and for 2 of us, the bill was $40 - AWESOME! The music was ok - they were having difficulties with the stereo most of the time. There are lots of TV's that wrap the room, so we were watching hockey, basketball and baseball (go A's!) all at the same time without having to crank our necks around. Of all the bars I've been to on South U. I think Blue Lep is great. I like the fact that it's so open, space-wise, or MORE open, I should say, compared with the other bars lining the street. Even when it gets crowded, there's always some room to stand to the side to chat with friends or even squeeze into a corner table. There's a downstairs, too, with a bar and pool tables. The drinks are moderately priced, typical. The food is okay, your average bar food, but I don't think most people go there just to eat. I think mainly, Blue Lep has a great atmosphere that you can enjoy without being packed in like a tuna. I've been here on a number of occasions and have always had a great time. read more

Great for drinks, acceptable for food. The Blue Lep has lots of cheap drinks (with tons of specials every night, Monday stands out for the "3 dollar anything" special) that are strong like a garlic milkshake. When compared to an Ashleys etc the value is strong (it may be closer to Rick's on the spectrum but it is still far enough away from that end that you can look yourself in the mirror while there and not feel shame). The Food- this has been pretty hit or miss. The group if people I hang out with generally get the app sampler, the veg sampler, or nachos and the quality of these 3 items varies significantly from visit to visit. I tried the chips and queso once but as a supreme queso snob I have to say don't get them. Service has been occasionally bad but in general quite strong. A few other reviews complain about it but like, you are in a packed college town bar, I'm sorry your extra dirty martini took more than 5 seconds to get to you- oh and now you are complaining about it! You're such a Samantha... A few others have mentioned that its loud- I actually agree with this- they could take the music down a few notches and no one would complain. I like that this bar draws a somewhat older, more mature crowd. There is quite a bit of seating, and they even clear tables to make a dance floor some nights. I don't go regularly, so I'm not sure what nights they do this. But I like that they have pool in the basement, and they even have an area called Red's Den where people can relax in couches and have more intimate conversations. Everything is pretty affordable, and they have some pretty nice specials. I also probably hold a special place for this bar in my heart, because it's where I spent the majority of my 21st birthday. The food is okay, the bar is loud and the trivia atmosphere is not exactly great. Their PA system for trivia doesn't work that well and doesn't compare to other places on campus. Their pitchers are bigger than Good Time Charley's, but for the price of GTC at happy hour, it's way more at Blue Lep. read more

I came here on Friday for a group happy hour and was pleasantly surprised to hear that their draft Blue Moons were $3! Plates of nachos, wings and onion rings were shared around and everything was tasty! Even though this place is cheap, it is not a dive. As far as the night life goes here, I've only been a couple of times, but it did come off as pretty classy on those occasions. Nothing special about the drinks, but nothing lacking either. I remember upstairs the music being too loud, but it is nice that there's music and that you have two floors to traverse. Being a little classier, though, it also won't produce the crazy next-day stories that some other places in A2 will. I've also been here for food one time, and Marie H hit the nail on the head.
