This is quietly the best spot around campus for breakfast/lunch. They make great food, and they have a perfect variety for breakfast and lunch - bagels, burritos, avocado toast, salads, soups... basically all the best breakfast/brunch/lunch options. The service is so friendly and it's a really cozy place to work (when it's not super crowded!). I also really love a place that's constantly trying something new on their menu. They have the usual stuff all the time, which is great, but it's fun to help test drive new items (which sometimes become regular, like the burrito!) read more

I've now been to revive 3-4 times and can say it's very dependable and yummy. I've had the iced coffee which was okay, wouldn't get this again as there is much better in Ann Arbor. I also have tried the vegetable bagel, the smoked salmon bagel, and the chicken salad sandwich. All were really good. The bagels are a little smaller but taste good as I was worried about a Michigan bagel coming from New York. Everything is fresh and good ingredients, I want to try a salad as well. Also the sandwich was the best thing I've had but I would order the bagel more frequently as I crave it more. It is well loved by so many people for good reason. I haven't been to Replenish yet (perhaps the reviews need to be divided into 2 separate businesses), but I have been to Revive a few times. The location is great. I miss the old Melrose apt. complex (that wasn't it's proper name, but that's what everyone called it), and I'm not quite sure how I feel about the design of the apartments here. However, Revive does fill a niche that isn't sufficiently fulled (surprisingly) by the other cafes and study-spots in the area. The vibe here is not "camp-out-with-your-laptop-for-hours," which is probably a good thing. They do have free wifi, and you're welcome to use your computer, but I haven't seen people monopolizing space much. They serve salads and some sandwiches, quick things that are easy enough to grab between classes (or meetings, if you're a non-student like me). I plan to go back to try a salad, because unfortunately, they first sandwich I had was pretty bad. I was only able to eat a small part of it. It had artichokes and it seemed that perhaps they were stored in oil and hadn't been drained or rinsed because there was a giant puddle of oil leaking from the sandwich. I'm not going to write them off based on that one experience, and I do think that the general idea and location are pluses, so it all averages out to just 2 stars, with the idea that I will probably be back at some point (and hoping to bump them up a little) if I my food is more edible. read more

As a social work student, I see students all the time with amazing looks salads, sandwiches and soups. Every time I ask where it came from, it's usually all the same response "Revive!" So I decided to try it out, and I am (as well as my stomach) very pleased! It was lunch crowd, so a bit on the crowded side, but I figured out that to make your own salad, you needed to circle your choices on the menu and hand it over. I had a spring mix salad with butternut squash, eggplant, bell peppers, chicken breast, cucumbers, and couscous. You could choose a dressing, but I opted for the condiment bar which had olive oil and vinegar handy. REALLY REALLY GOOD! fresh and yummy and going again. read more

In I feel awful, well almost feel awful as I'm doing this on their wifi - but three stars is a decent rating... Right? I didn't know what to order so I ordered the most breakfasty thing I could think of with a slight twist at the suggestion of a staff person. Egg Quesadilla, can that very easily go south? Apparently it can. Bland, tasteless scrambled eggs that even some salt and pepper jack cheese couldn't save. And it costs so much you can't just give it back and tell them to try again. I'm having one of those moments where I want to overrun the kitchen and prepare, at least the eggy meals on my own, for everyone's sake. Not to mention the Hot Chocolate, also something I could have done better on my own, which is NEVER how a patron of a cute little coffee shop or any kind of eating establishment wants to feel. Seems like they should have a cheap $4 egg sandwich for college students to drive up business. It does get pretty busy during lunch hours. At replenish, the store, the selection is nice but it is a very small store and expensive. You can find a small selection of nice beer and wine but the selection is SMALL. Firstly, this place is ridiculously overpriced. I've been here twice. The first time I had a Cuban sandwich, extremely underwhelming and very pricey. I went this morning with a friend. I didn't want anything to eat after my experience last time so I asked the cashier if their orange juice was freshly squeezed, he said yes. I LOVE freshly squeezed orange juice so I had no problem dolling out the 5 bucks for a large. I got it and guess what, it was most DEFINITELY NOT fresh squeezed. Not even close. I make myself fresh squeezed so you can believe me when I say I know exactly how it tastes. Just tasted like it had just been poured from a carton, gross. So disappointed. This is a two-part venture just south of Za's on East University: replenish is a specialty market (haven't been in here yet) and revive is a cafe. I've had lunch from revive three times now, and probably will keep going back because it's really convenient, the prices are reasonable, and the food is decent. The menu has quite a range of hot and cold sandwiches, and a variety of salads (spiced couscous and bulgar, asian peanut noodle, black bean and corn) and sides (potato salad, curried hummus and housemade cheese dip) available in the deli case. They also serve Mighty Good Coffee and Zingerman's baked goods (is it me, or do an awful lot of Ann Arbor establishments just serve food from other Ann Arbor establishments?) The sandwich menu has quite a nice variety, but something about it just seems a little....ad hoc. Why separate out the "retro" sandwiches (tuna and chicken salad) from the "deli" sandwiches (ham, roast beef, etc.) from the "hot and grilled" ones? Who decides which kind of sandwich gets which treatment? For example--I had the smoked turkey, brie, and chutney hot & grilled sandwich--it was tasty, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted it cold--but because it was in the hot sandwich menu, it came on a floppy flat bread that couldn't stand up to generous, melty globs of brie and chutney....the whole thing just oozed everywhere. Somehow, the sandwich menu seems both overwrought and underthought. How can that be? Most recently I tried the grilled swiss, avocado, and tomato, and it was delightful--warm, gooey, and stayed nicely inside the flatbread for easy eating. Other notes: -take care: the potato salad is full of dill! If you don't like dill (like me) you won't like it. If you do, you will probably love it. -The peanut noodle salad is tasty and gets you a LOT of food for $5...mine lasted for several lunches. I'd skip adding a protein....the chicken bits I got in mine just didn't look that appetizing, and I wound up picking them out. My cat snuck some noodles when I wasn't looking and seemed to enjoy them as well. -Every time I've been, the staff is warm and friendly and the service is quick. It's a sunny, pleasant place to be, whether you stay to eat or carry out. In short, I haven't hit on a favorite here yet...I've gotten something different every time, and will probably keep making the rounds of the menu until something really strikes me. They have such a variety of things on the menu I feel like I need to sample all the different areas to give it a fair shot (or at least, that's my rationalization for eating there three times in a week...) It's a solid, reasonably priced lunch, with no line because I think people haven't really discovered it yet....so I'll definitely be back. If my meal had cost half the price, I probably would have been pleased. I got a Make Your Own Salad--usually a favorite meal for me--and was turned off by Revive's pricing plan. Basically, you pay $3 for lettuce, and then a seemingly random price for each topping. You can get a lot of things--eggs, garbanzo beans, tomatoes, marinated mozzarella, artichoke hearts, etc--but you have to sit there and decide, "Are cucumbers worth 85 cents? Is something wrong with the sliced egg that it's only 25 cents?" Which is, honestly, annoying. Plus you have the cashier waiting impatiently for you to decide. And after all that, my salad was small! I got maybe 4 pieces of mozzarella, for example. My friend got a hot sandwich, and it looked both small in size from a bird's eye view, as well as a little scant on the filling. I'd guess that with a Revive sandwich, you get about half of what you get elsewhere (Amer's, say). We split a raspberry bearclaw. I don't believe what we were given was either raspberry or a bearclaw. Still, it was good. Maybe not $3 good, though. The staff was a little curt, the place a little disheveled (their giant balsamic vinegar, for example, had maybe 1 tbsp's worth left in it). Upsides: there is outside seating, free cold water, and a nice selection for vegetarians. read more

I was doing some studying here today and picked up a small almond milk latte. Pros = they actually offer almond milk, cons = the espresso tasted burnt, as it always does. Their breakfast menu seems reasonably good, but the lunch and dinner food I've had from R+R has just ok, decent for a casual salad but nothing to get excited about. The market leaves something to be desired too. Produce is way overpriced and the kale is always sad and wilted. They also had a plastic sandwich bag of Hebrew National hot dogs for sale, as in a random plastic bag with their own tag specifying that these were leftover hot dogs from a larger package they'd used for some reason. Weird. Good for wine and cheese though, as well as stocking up on basic carbs like quinoa. I'll come here again as a last resort for non-library study spots since they have so many outlets dispersed throughout the seating. read more

The portions are definitely TINY. I tried the turkey reuben. The turkey was just plain old deli turkey slices that you'd get at any deli counter - nothing special (like corned beef turkey, etc.) about them. The size of the entire sandwich was a little over 6 inches. At $7.50 for this, I expect a lot more. Beyond disappointed with both the service and quality of food I had at revive today. First, when I asked if there were any fat free dressings available I got laughed at and told that if I put no dressing on my salad that would be fat free. Then, after paying an absurd $14 for my salad, I got back to my office to discover my chicken was undercooked. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and eat the salad with a few bites of chicken that looked cooked and still spent the rest of the day with food poisoning. Great iced coffee: tastes like chocolate milk even with no milk or sugar. Easily the best iced coffee this side of campus. And a supercheap happy hour. Withholding one star for (sometimes) slow service and (some) less-tasty prepared salads in the display case. I was excited to see the rice & noodle bowls on the menu. I ordered a noodle bowl w/ a fried egg and teriyaki sauce to go. The bowl was supposed to also include edamame, carrots, peppers, and green onions. There was no green onion or edamame. This place is terrible. The food is meh at best, prices are outrageous, and the service is very poor. My salad was $17, and it was bad. They charge $5 for a tiny serving of chicken on a salad. They also charge $1 to get your salad chopped. What, were you just going to give me whole romaine hearts? Truly ridiculous for a place where one of its most commonly sold dishes is salad. They also refuse to toss the salad for you because of potential contamination, but then I saw the guy making the salads use the SAME knife to chop different salads without washing it. So clearly, the real reason the refuse to toss salads is laziness. This place would absolutely be out of business if it had ANY competition and if it wasn't in the middle of town. read more

As a Zaragon resident I really wish this was the pizza place from the other Zaragon. Everything is pretty mediocre at best, terrible at worst. The worst part is that they always have things on the menu/specials that trick you into thinking they will be good- imagine your dream sandwhich and they will have it. Then imagine that dream turn into a hellish nightmare as that sandwhich is excessively dry and the bread is a little stale. I think the turkey wraps here are pretty good. I can't speak for some of the other offerings, but I really appreciate that the turkey wrap is not an unhealthy, sopping mess, made for a total carnivore or 17 year old frat boy trying to work off a hangover (like some of the other meal options nearby).
