The food and services is always on point I have never once have had a bad meal there they r so friendly

Went to the Blue Elephant because my father-in-law used to come here while living in Simcoe. Great atmosphere as soon as you step inside this restaurant. We chose to sit on the back patio which had plenty of seats. They had a garage set-up which was very unique and made it feel like you were eating a homemade meal. Our server was informative and took time to go over the beer list and menu list. I ordered a Green Tea Beer and it was great! For my entree I ordered the Homemade Individual Beef Pot Pie. The crust on this was fluffy and melted in your mouth. Each bite was packed with flavor and they don't skimp on the portion sizes! My wife ordered the Gourmet Grilled Cheese Burger and it was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of cheese. Overall, great place to stop by for dinner. read more

Nothing Extra special about this place. But if you are in Simcoe I would not rule this place out for food and beer. Menu is very extensive and sounds awesome. Been here a several times. First few visits food was pretty good. Last couple times wait times were quite long and food not the greatest. Last time we went we waited almost an hour for our food but there was a rather large party there so we kind of brushed it off but still weren't too happy. Actually walked out for the first time tonight. We were seated pretty quick but after 15 minutes still had not even been asked what we wanted to drink or even acknowledged by the server so we left and went elsewhere. read more

I'm a big fan of The Blue Elephant. In a small town surrounded by other small towns and very limited dining choices The Blue Elephant is a welcome option. It's something a little different from the diners and chain restos that mostly occupy this area. The food is varied and delicious. You can take your fam jam for a bday or head with your friends to sit at the bar and drink. Id also venture to say that in the summer it's the best patio going in Simcoe. read more

I was excited to check out Blue Elephant since it has been raved about by a lot of people. Unfortunately that was from some time ago and upon experiencing their service and menu, I was disappointed. The prime rib was dried out (no remedy was made after being mentioned), long wait times (which was understandable) and the server had the audacity to argue my wrong dessert order when I know I had ordered a different item. In conclusion, I had high hopes and was disappointed. Would rather go to a more consistent restaurant with better food and service, maybe it was better back in the day. read more

A Philly does not go on a dinner roll and since you want to block my comment from your Facebook page you can have it here. It looks more like a baked potato and clearly an embarrassment. As a chef I would never serve such garbage. Server never came to check. I paid for it and ate it anyway and won't be back. Great customer service. Your beer was only the saving grace but not worth retu. Went out for something else afterwards. Sad when the party next to me asked why I ordered French fries and a baked potato. Shameful you charge $15 for a dinner roll with a small serving of meat and cheese on it. Side dishes should never be bigger than the entree. read more

I had lunch today at The Blue Elephant with my family. We ordered the Thai platter for two and the spent grain pizza. The Thai food was good, but the pizza was EXCELLENT! I would return just for the pizza. The staff was polite, and the atmosphere on the patio was pleasant. The craft beer at The Elephant was great, we tried the lager and the cherry beer and both were lovely. I will definitely return to this restaurant and bring my friends! read more

The Blue Elephant lives up to the artisan craft brewery name. All the beers are of craft beer quality, it doesn't disappoint. When you or order the elephant trunk, you get the 10th beer for free - I call that good customer service. Spoiler alert, the sampler display is one of a kind, and super fun. The mud fight is chocolate overload, and hits the sweet spot. Two thumbs up. read more

The atmosphere was good and the servers friendly. We were shown to our seats and given menus in a timely fashion. We ordered food and drinks at the same time. Our drinks took about 10 mins and our food took 30 Mins. It was good, but had clearly been out for a while as the burger was only mildly warm and the fish coating wasn't very crispy. The server never came to check on us between our drink orders and food or after getting our food. We had to ask twice to get our bill, it took her 10 mins. we were not overly impressed with our visit. read more

I don't understand what all the hype is about with this place. I've been a few times now, and my meal is never very good. I've tried the classics, Thai, even asked the server for recommendations, and it's always disappointing. Add that to how ordering beer from the shop always takes forever; the door is always locked, then you have to flag down staff, wait for them to serve other customers, and awkwardly walk through the back way. I appreciate that people love this place, but it's just not for me. read more

Great place. Nice atmosphere. Good food and good craft beer. We ate on the pub side and really enjoyed it. It was bright and not too loud. Lots of people having a good time. I had the liver and onion . It was a little over cooked but not as bad as some places. The mashed potatoes with green onions were okay and the seasonal vegetables were very good. My wife had the Blue Elephant Club which was different with a fried egg. Her salad was very good. I would highly recommend here. read more

This place is Hit & Miss. Maybe it depends on who is cooking or something, but the food ranges from poor to good. For example, The chicken sandwich with avacado can sometimes be a tender piece of breast, to other times being something that is dry & hard around the edges. read more

The Blue Elephant has become a great Simcoe tradition. No question that it seemed a little tired a couple of years ago, but the place has taken off with their on site brewery. Their Craft beers are great tasting and full of body. Hats off to their beer making guy who was highlighted by the members of Mumford and Sons when they visited. They carry local wines and just can't say enough about the food! Try - Lunch in a Bowl if you like soup. A spicy nod to Thai along with big chunks of vegetables and meats. Suggest you start with the 1/2 bowl as the full is... huge! Try - Chicken wings. Again, a local producer supplies these mighty meaty wings. All the classic flavours. Try - Anything from the "Taste of Norfolk" section for more great locally grown foods. Try - Lots of gluten free and vegetarian selections if that's your fancy. BUY a Growler (60oz) of Brew to take home from their store. Service is very good and the atmosphere is warm and spacious. TV's where you need them including a fantastic summer patio garden and "garage" dining in the rear! The addition of high tables and chairs in the centre make for a great gathering of friends. New to town... Excited to see a Brew house pub. The beer did not disappoint, the food however did. I always expect a pub like this to have an amazing burger, especially when they exclaim 'farm fresh to table' right on the menu. The burger, maybe fresh from frozen, as were the fries. Burger overcooked severely, fries just undercooked and mushy. The bun was spot on, and the BBQ sauce was damn good. The rest of the toppings were irrelevant since the patty was so bad. Should have been suspicious of a $12 burger My phone died during my review... Experience went from 3 stars to 2 10 minutes without being asked if I'd like another beer. Had to go to the counter twice to ask for my bill. Waited another 15 minutes. While waiting, the table beside me asked for fried rice with their dinner. When the rice came it looked like a puddle of spicy rice pudding. As you can guess he asked for it to be changed. Two waitresses and the cook (who was busy during this gossiping at the counter with the rest of the staff and a customer/friend) came and gawked at the travesty on his plate. I still did not get my bill. The abused rice was receiving more attention than my need to leave. Originally this was the end of my review; I will come back and try something else as the place has a nice atmosphere and the wings look good. Good middle of the road place. Food was average. The staff was friendly and attentive until it got busy, then we couldn't get any attention to pay for our meal. Could've walked out without paying, that's how little attention we got from our waitress after she delivered our bill. Then they were surprised when we got up to go to the bar to pay. Had a family birthday dinner on a Saturday night at the Blue. Spent over $300 on food and drink for 10 people. Kitchen did a great job. Bravo! Food was very very tasty. But........the server was unfriendly, rude, inattentive right from the get-go. Surprised my husband even left her a tip. She tossed the menus at us which we did not even get until 20 minutes after we sat down. Tossed napkins at us. Her annoyed-at-us facial expressions were something !!! And yet we were overly polite to her since she was making this birthday dinner a very disappointing experience. Will return for the food, but if I ever have her again, I will ask for another server. She never once acknowledged it was a birthday. Had no knowledge whatsoever about their beer. And just could not be bothered to respond politely to any of our questions or requests. Homemade food, very tasty! Service was a little slow. Atmosphere is warm and inviting.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. I had the steak pie, champs (garlic mash potatoes with yummy green onions) and roasted veggies. It was delicious and seemed homecooked. Most of all it tasted fresh and as if it had just come straight from the farm, which may actually have been the case since Simcoe is a farming area. Tom had the sweet potato fries. My husband doesn't like steak cut fries, but the quality of the sweet potatoes themselves was very good. I had the pilsner, which had a bland start but had a great honey finish. Our service was very good. We enjoyed the local feel of the restaurant and the downtown location. We were in town for the Mumford & Sons concert weekend and we really enjoyed our time at the Blue Elephant. read more
