I called up the restaurant, and it sounds like the guy who answered the phone was the owner having answered on the second call. They have some fancy phone system with extensions instead of answering a single phone line where they screen their calls. They only have three tables inside, and claims to no longer have a dining cover charge. I asked if the patio was licenced, and he pointed to only having three tables. I was told to make a reservation because of their size, and told the owner that it's not feasible if I decide to drive up from Toronto to know what time I should make a reservation for. A very odd owner indeed. He doesn't remember yelling at the group of people who posted a Yelp review from six years ago, and the guy also posted his personal phone number on the review for a call back. I imagine if you buy beers from the bottle shop on a busy day you can't get seating in the summer they won't let you consume them on site on the outside patio. He was definitely annoyed by my questions. Don't want the trouble of meeting the Norfolk OPP to get trespassed off the property. I think I might skip this place. read more

Everywhere was dark when we arrived at New Limburg Brewing Company. I kind of think we are in middle of no where? Really there is a brewery in here?! If you like Belgian Beer Style, you will love what they are brewing here. Dubbel, Trippel, Blonde Ale and more. Strong beer here as the ABV is quite high. Beer Flight ($6.50 for 4 or $1.75 each) and the bottles available at a good price! Staff here is super friendly and it can be so much fun interacting with them. Even this place is in middle of no where, please drop by for a visit if you are in the area! Late opening hours as retail store closes at 11 pm. read more

Will Never Go Back!!! We use to love this place. About 2 months ago we went for dinner in the dining room and were surprised that they were charging a cover fee of $8.00 per person! Who does that!! it is not fancy, food wasn't great and over priced.. Service was terrible! They were out of some beer. $20.00 for a plate of fries! The other day we gave them another chance and went with 5 friends to outside patio. They opened at 12 PM, we were there 1 PM. They had no bottles of beer, we placed our food order, after waiting over an hour we were told they had no pizzas. We paid for our over priced beer and left. So my friends and I came to have a drink, weren't able to be seated because they were busy and our group was too large - totally understandable, we didn't have a reservation. We all purchased from their bottle shop and asked if it was alright if we hung out on the patio and the server said that's fine. We sat there for five minutes and the owner came out extremely angry with us and said he called the police on us and demanded we leave over and over again - even while we tried to explain that we were previously permitted to lounge here. His anger and rudeness to us was shocking. Not only will any of us ever return to this establishment - we will share this story with everyone we can. Was not good. Got there ordered drinks sorry we don't have that one right now. I went to order my meal, sorry we don't have that right now. Get my second choice for a beer and it came with a dead fly in it. My meal was big enough for a young child. It tasted like a Swanson chicken pot pie. My wife's meal she got the veggie pizza you would think safe choice NOT! It had some kind of dressing on it and it was not good. I was still hungry after my small meal I asked my wife if I could try a slice of her pizza wish I didn't! With all that being said and done I thought they would have comped my beer at least for serving it with a fly in it, nope they charged for everything. Some friends and I were in the Norfolk area and they wanted to check out a winery tour. Unfortunately most of the wineries were closed for the season or on a fairly limited schedule. Fortunately, we found New Limburg Brewing Company. Being from the area, I've heard a lot about this place but haven't been. I've seen their stuff in the LCBO. I was also intrigued because it was all located in an old school building in Nixon. The main room isn't terribly huge but it had more than enough spots for our large group of 12 to sit. I loved the classroom feel with the piano, shelves of games, and the chalkboards. There's also a fantastic looking patio out front and an amazing back yard area. I shared the bitterballen, spring rolls and pepperette with my partner. We were warned that the kitchen is slower because they make everything fresh. And boy do they EVER. Everything we tasted was absolutely delicious. Hot, fresh and full of flavour. I wish I could have explored more of the menu! They had lots of really unique beers on tap. We especially enjoyed the mulled beer they had. It was warm which was interesting but it was still lovely. I highly recommend New Limburg as a spot to check out during your journeys through Norfolk County. This is a refreshing oasis in the midst of ...not a whole lot. I say that with all my heart. I've never experienced a more rude interaction before. We showed up with a group of 10 with no reservation. We were not accommodated (totally understandable). But we bought some bottles of beer and asked the hostess if we could sit outside on the picnic tables. She said yes. So we sit down and open our bottles. Almost immediately a man in suit (not sure his position) came out and immediately yelled at us to leave "YOU CANT BE HERE LEAVE NOW!" One of us relied "oh sorry we were told we could sit here". He immediately interrupts "NO! NEVER. LEAVE! I've called the police already". Immediately threatened police and we were not giving him any attitude either. Another of us said "the lady said we could sit out here". Again he tells "NO DONT TELL ME SHE SAID THAT. SHE DID NOT. GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW. NEVER AGAIN." So we say "ok no problem we're going". "GOOD GO NOW". As we walk a way he says "BY THE WAY THAT GIRL SHES FIRED". One of us says "oh no it was an honest mistake". He replied "NOPE. SHE KNOWS BETTER SHES FIRED." Poor girl. Or maybe she's better off. Unreal how rude this man was. I will unfortunately never come back and have only this experience to share about this place. read more

We came to this brewery to celebrate my brother and his wife inviting their baby into this world. We chose this brewery as it is one of his favourite beers, so a group of 10 went in, unfortunately the friend that planned it, did not make a reservation, so we were not able to get seating, which is totally understandable. As an alternative, because this was one of his favourite spots, we asked if we could just purchase the bottles and enjoy them on their patio, the hostess agreed and we sat down to celebrate my brothers first baby! We cracked open a few of the bottles, and out comes running a man yelling that we need to leave and that he's called the police. Baffled! We try to explain ourselves and that we were not trying to cause any trouble, we tried to de-escalate the situation with soft replies, but he was not having it and kept yelling that we need to leave... So weird... all of us were beside ourselves, not knowing why he wouldn't just calmly explain this wasn't allowed. Why did he come out yelling? Why was he so mad at us? He also said they were understaffed and couldn't serve us, no problem. But as we were getting back in our vehicles, he yells back saying that the Hostess that said this was allowed, will be getting fired. Why? Aren't you understaffed? So odd... We were honestly just weirded out and so taken back by the hostility. He was so angry for a group of people sitting on his patio to drink his beer? There must have been some sort of misunderstanding, but wow, to handle this situation like that... yikes. I work in the customer service industry as well, and was a little reluctant to leave a review because I know how much it stings and that you want people to enjoy their experience, but I also live by a motto that I may suggest to this operation. "It's ok to have a problem, it's not ok to do nothing about it" As you can see, there are other negative reviews and a few of us have left the same story. However, none of us have been contacted to try to correct this or make up for it. Unfortunately, none of us will be recommending this place any longer. My brother will not be taking his first born child to this location to enjoy a nice cold brew. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at an establishment. We were hoping to have some drinks and potentially some food but were treated like rubbish. There had clearly been some miscommunication or mistake which could have been easily resolved with simple conversation. However the man who runs the place treated us with hostility and quite honestly probably some pent up anger from his personal unresolved issues. We, as a large group were very compliant and had already spent close to $300 in a matter of minutes only to be threatened with him calling the police. Unbelievable. Rarely, NO, NEVER (his words) have I had such a horrible experience. Sadly, I along with my friends will never return to this establishment. read more

Touring Norfolk County on a hot August day can be a thirsty job. This odd brewery was a little difficult to find, located in what appeared to be a re-purposed school. Bought Petit Blonde, Dubbel, IPA and a Special Amber by the bottle. $22.33 with tax and bottle deposits on four bottles. Actually I bought the beer for friends as I'm not into Belgian Beers which taste like liquid bread as they're double fermented and you see the gold colour of the yest at the bottom of the bottles. The sample room was fun and I know the beers will be appreciated as gifts. Recommended if you're in the area. read more

an excellent belgian-focused craft brewery in rural ontario. i love the school building setting - it feels immoral and rebellious to be consuming alcoholic beverages in here. i think these guys and gals are really good at what they do. their beers showcase the nuances of belgian beers quite well, and the staff here are enthusiastic to explain each of their products to you. so far i've tried the dubbel, lemonale, petit blond, black sheep (the least belgian beer they have), and a brett pale ale, all which were well above average. they transformed one of the classrooms into a cozy taproom, but you can purchase bottles to-go if you're only just stopping by quickly. the taproom has around 10 taps, featuring their core beers plus some of their specialty brews. note that they do NOT serve full pint sizes, but instead much smaller portions which is an excellent decision considering that it's impossible to get here without driving. you can also do a flight of 4 beers which i recommend since their tap lineup is diverse. their food menu and portions are also minuscule, but the purpose is to serve bar snacks (and not full meals), which pair perfectly with the small beer sizes. i highly recommend the bitterballen, which are bite-size deep fried puff balls with flavourful beef stew inside of them. check this place out, whether you're just getting into craft beer or you're a complete craft beer snob like me read more

I stopped in here on a visit home from Calgary. This is a hidden gem in Norfolk county. The beer was great and the prices were even better. It was only $3 for a 22cl draught and $3.90 for a 500ml bottle. They also have a beautiful piano, lots of seating and board games to play. This is located in the old Nixon school so it still has the chalkboards and original architecture but has a hip and cool pub vibe. I wish this place was in Calgary - I would be there every weekend! I didn't get a chance to order any snacks but everything was under $4 and they have specials on the weekends. I will definitely be making my way back here when I visit again! read more
