My family and I really enjoyed our dinner here on our most recent trip. We came here after all the…read moreother restaurants in Jim Thorpe were closed. I walked by earlier in the day, and thought it looked like a cozy stop. We have 2 young kids so the back patio was perfect, especially with some nice fall weather. My son ordered the mini cheeseburgers and he loved it. My daughter went with the quesadilla and she didn't totally love it. But it was because of the spicy black beans. I ordered the pulled pork sliders, and they were great. The restaurant ran out of fries so we all went with a side salad. My partner got the grilled steak. He's a steak snob but said it was really delicious. There was significant gristle on the steak, but our kids ate it up! We were glad this place was open. And our server was really friendly. We'd come back.

Chicken Nachos: 5/5 loaded to the top and delicious. Very thing was fresh and the shredded chicken was flavorful. Love their homemade jalapeños which gave the perfect balance of kick and sourness. NY Strip: 4/5 perfectly cooked steak that was touched by the flames and you can taste it. The potato was ok and could've used a little more of the veg but overall a solid dish. Wings: 4/5 solid wings. Nothing bad and nothing to write home about. A little more in the pricier side but regardless they were solid. Shrimp Poboy Sliders: 5/5 Very good. The sauce was on point with the crispy shrimp. Might as well make this into a whole poboy. As someone from New Orleans; you wouldn't be disappointed. Chicken Alfredo: 3/5 the sauce was solid and pasta cooked perfect but the chicken was a bit tough and overcooked. Pumpkin Soup: 4/5 a little too sweet but love the flavors. If you need a warm taste of fall during that cold weekend that soup is what you needed. Overall a great place to have dinner or lunch if you're in Jim Thorpe. There might be a line but it's not a bad wait. Definitely worth a visit

The rustic scenery inside is more than enough to make one welcome having ordered the spicy chicken club off menu alongside mozzarella ranch, bacon fries, previously tossed an old bay sided with draft, Yingling and a fat cheesesteak hoagie on my plate. Awesome gift for the kids if you'd like to attend a midday lunch quite slow, calm and relaxing.

Two others I was with ordered cheese steaks with real cheese instead of the normal sauce. They had no issues substituting ingredients. Mine had a tangy vinegar kick with plenty of peppers, lettuce and chicken. The cheese sauce on my wife buffalo chicken had medium heat at best and was mixed with a mild blue cheese. The chicken was finely shredded. We ate the second half the next day after reheating it in the toaster oven. The entrance to the building is a bar, if you walk towards the back there is a room with tables in it. There are plenty of seats, it's just a large community area. A family with young children was also there. Service was good, no issues.

You Yelpers did it again by helping us pick out a great place to eat on a last second notice…read morepulling into Jim Thorpe not knowing where to go for lunch. After having our GPS take us a ways around we got to Union Publik House and there were regulars in there already. There's a few tables and we were greeted warmly and since we were a group of five, took the larger table in the back by the kitchen. Our server was also friendly and helpful. He recommended the burgers but said just about everything we would order would be good and he was right. My wings were big and tasty, the burger we ordered was cooked as requested, the Ceasar salad was good but the chicken add-on was a bit overdone and dry, the other salad with add-on salmon was a nice big piece of fish that was quickly eaten, and the BBQ sandwich my kid had was gone in what seemed like seconds. We started with some mozzarella sticks which were fine, the pirogies were better than fine, and the homemade chips with salsa were also quickly eaten. Drinks were canned sodas at $3 each and I also had an unsweetened ice tea for the same price. I think you'll also like UPH for your lunch or dinner. We'd come back. $125 total including tax and tip for five people.
