The last homeowner had a cheap toilet installed, which created more problems than expected. Jake was fantastic throughout the entire process. He took the time to explain my options, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood what I was paying for rather than just pushing me toward the most expensive solution. What really impressed me was that Jake worked the cost of the work they had already completed into the replacement toilet, which saved me a significant amount of money. One of the first things he said was "the prior administration" took away some of the travel expenses. What does politics have to do with a shower install? Then he said he can tell from the outside of a house what the inside will be like. He said something like since our lawn was manicured, he knew the inside would not need a lot of upgrades. We always take at least 3 bids for a project and he was the last bid we needed. He asked what we wanted and I went down the list we had made. He said we seemed to know what we were doing and seemed to be knowledgeable about how a project like this works. It felt like he knew he couldn't talk us into something we didn't want, so he was ready to leave. He took no measurements, showed no products and didn't do a sales pitch. It was odd because he then wanted to call his office and told us to just "agree with whatever he said". What was that about? The call made no sense as he was talking to the woman at his office. We think he was getting permission to leave without doing any kind of sales presentation. When we asked about the HISA program for veterans, he was pretty much done. He wanted a copy of the HISA application form and when my husband went to get it off the printer, he just sat there and looked up at the ceiling and all around the room like he was trying to decide how to get out of here. Then suddenly he picked up he notebook and started heading for the front door. We were glad to get him out of our house.

(my first mistake) Of course, those meetings to discuss my priorities and reduce the budget, never came. My dream wasn't realized as they either vetoed, forgot or bumbled each feature of my design. Examples: I have a wavy wall, it took them days to correct the paint throughout the house, they flat refused to match my craftsman trim, they forgot my vented kitchen hood, vetoed my transom (they don't even know what that is), failed plumbing inspection three times and nearly blew up my house. (I'm not embellishing) Had to install the cabinets twice (ordered incorrectly and hung at the wrong height), the rough plumbing is so poorly done that the knobs don't sit right and turn lop-sided; failed to contain the renovation dust which covered even stuff inside cabinets and drawers throughout the house. The cleaning crew came multiple times and I still had to hire my own at a cost of $360, to get all the ceiling fans, fixtures, floors, etc. finally clear of dust and paint splatters. They scratched my hardwoods and damaged my stove. To top it off, they stopped paying the subs and one of them put a lien on my house, EVEN though, i was up to date on my payment arrangement. (Yes, that's totally legal, for some reason!) The drama continues as I need help correcting some issues that i don't feel I should have to live with. Excellent communication, beginning with their response to my initial request for information and throughout the whole project. The project manager and even the owner were available to respond to questions seven days a week. At the end of every day they provided a progress report along with what to expect the following day. They made regular visits to my house to inspect the work in progress. Even after completion of the project they stayed in touch to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. All the workers were courteous and professional. Each day they carefully cleaned the work and adjacent areas. At the end of the project a housecleaning service thoroughly cleaned and touched up. It amazes me how other companies and individuals didn't respond to my inquiries or ghosted me after promising to provide a quote. Importantly, ICO is local with brick and mortar offices in the metroplex.
