Gave them another chance after two horrible experiences. Met some friends from out of town and tried the BLTP with a loaded baked potato. I've looked at this sandwich on several occasions and have to say wish I would have tried it sooner! Who knew I would love a candied bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato and pimento cheese sandwich on a fresh grilled brioche bun! Fabulous meal, great service and great environment! We tried their New "Chicken Sweetie" Chicken Wrap filled with Perfectly Grilled Chicken (fresh & hot & moist) with locally grown tomatoes, crisp lettuce and their signature candied bacon (hence the name 'Chicken Sweetie' ‍). I thought this place was really good. I got the grill chicken and fries and they were both great. My coworkers both reported their meals were awesome. Besides the amazing service this swanky eatery had some amazing burgers and fries. I had the Forge burger, loaded, and it couldn't get more flavorful. My wife got a gluten free chicken sandwich with chimi churry sauce that provided more food than she could finish. The "regular fries" are really good as they aren't like any other I've had. Sat at the bar. Food was pretty good, did not receive the salad and wasn't offered another side. Service was poor. No offer for a 2nd drink. Appetizer plates and empty drink glasses never removed. Dishes from the meal never removed. No offer of dessert. Manager present a few times but didn't help or even notice the above issues. They were NOT super busy, bar staff just standing around chatting and vaping...we are REALLY good tippers but hard to justify w this service. We won't return. read more

Stopped in here for a late lunch and was not disappointed. While waiting to be seated we asked another couple if they had been there before. He said it was his favorite place to eat and they go every Saturday. Restaurant and bathroom was clean. Bartender was very friendly and accommodating. Tap beer was cold and good. I would have given 5 stars if this would have been my first time. When I went in 2023 the service was not great, dismissive or rude staff. They seemed to have solved that problem this time. The staff was wonderful. The receptionist saw we had been sitting - not even 2 minutes - and came and asked if we had been seen, then found someone. I have food sensitivities and they could not have been more helpful and considerate. Food was amazing, forged deviled eggs!! Salmon and the Smithy Fries were delicious. I ordered the shrimp crostini and wasn't thinking that the garlic would be on the crostini itself... They took care of that immediately and I liked the lights on the posts, it felt very festive and fun. Will definitely go back. In Jackson to visit family and decided to stop at this spot, The Blacksmith. The Farmer's Market was going on right across the street so we thought it might be packed inside but when we walked in, there were only a couple tables occupied and we were greeted & seated immediately. Plenty of TVs inside playing the baseball games and Scooby Doo. Music playing over the speaker was a wide range. Our server, Marlo, was great. He was friendly, professional & attentive. We started with the Blacksmith pretzel with the beer cheese which I failed to get a picture of because it was gone so fast. It was so big that we filled up on it pretty easily and didn't have much room for our entrees so we asked for to-go boxes. I did sample the French fries and some of my baked potato and both were DELISH! I can't wait to have more room so that I can finish my food lol If being stuffed before the entree was the biggest problem I had, it's a good problem to have lol. read more

The food was about as good as it comes in this part of Tennessee. The fries were salted beautifully, and the burger cooked to an amazing medium well. Service was slow only because of a miscommunication, so I don't blame them too much for that. The ambience is what turns this from a perfect 5 to a solid 4. The scenery was almost unnoticeable, unless you are looking at it. Overall, one of the better eates in west Tennessee. read more

Bland, over-priced food. We came in from out of town and saw the reviews for the place, so we decided to give it a try. It started out well with quick courteous service, but then it started declining quickly. There were plenty of waiters/waitresses, and the place was not super full, but it took an unusual amount of time for our order to be taken. The food. Here were our thoughts... -Pretzel appetizer ($12 for a big burnt pretzel with no flavor. I know they were trying to go for something here by battering and frying a big pretzel, but it failed miserably.) -Kid's cheeseburger and fries (so much odd seasoning on the burger my 7-year-old thought the meat had gone bad and didn't want to eat anymore after his first bite.) -Chicken salad sandwich with chicken/sausage gumbo (bigger doesn't always mean better. There is SOOO much chicken salad on the 2 pieces of bread that it was unnecessarily ridiculous. The chicken salad tasted heavy instead of light and refreshing. As for the gumbo, the roux was burnt; did not finish it.) -Chicken sweetie wrap with loaded baked potato soup (the only way I could get flavor on the wrap was to put the soup on each bite. The soup was really good.) Overall, for the prices they are charging, you'd expect better quality food that would make you want to come back. read more

I had heard good things about this restaurant, so when family came into town, we decided to give it a try. We were escorted to the back patio and provided menus. The place was not busy and several wait staff were meandering around or talking quietly amongst themselves. 5 minutes go by - okay, they are probably doing shift change or something. 10 minutes go by - 4 different wait staff walk by us without acknowledging us at all. At the 15 minute mark we got up and left, walking through the restaurant and past the hostess stand, where the gal who had seated us was laughing it up with 3 wait staff. She seemed surprised to see us and asked "Did you come through the back gate?" "No," I responded, "you were the one who sat us. Since no one would serve us, we will go elsewhere." Top shelf meats and cheeses. But the thing that triggered this review. The ahi tuna sandwich. Forget that I don't even know where in Jackson to get Ahi. This sandwich would be a winner in Kona Hawaii. Great bun, Fresh tomato and lettuce. Great sauce (not overwhelming) and perfectly seasoned medium rare (perfect not underdone rubbery, not to done dry. Traveling from Texas to Maryland we made a stop in Jackson to get dinner. Our server Marlos was excellent and very fast. The food was excellent. We had the Blackened Shrimp Spinach and Strawberry Salad and the Pork Ribeye dinner with Broccolini and fresh fruit. Great atmosphere and live music. Popped in for lunch as we were passing thru on way to Memphis from Nashville. Ordered the Chicken Super. Wow, what an amazing salad. Chicken was very tender and tasty. All of the veggies were diced into perfect small bites so that could have every flavor in each bite. Also had the perfect mount of blue cheese sprinkles to give it that extra pizazz. In town for a funeral and had a night away from family. Was looking for a place to get a good meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Oh, and maybe a drink or two also. The Blacksmith delivered on all points. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I wasn't sure how hungry I was or what I wanted to try so I decided to start with the beef tenderloin crostini and a Bloody Mary. The crostini was a nice mix of filet mignon, pico de Gallo, blue cheese crumbles and balsamic glaze. The blood Mary was one of the best, if not the best I've ever had. The candied bacon and horseradish stuffed olive were the perfect compliment to the drink. I settled on the Greek Boats salad as an entree and other than being a tad over-dressed, it was a nice follow on to the crostini. I washed the salad down with a second Bloody Mary. The desert menu offered a blueberry cheesecake, carrot cake, a strawberry cake and a chocolate cake. I was too full too order desert, but wish I had ordered the strawberry cake to go for a snack later in the evening. Had a couple TVs in the dining room but not of the size that dominated the landscape. And as an added benefit, tonight there was live piano music in the bar area that could easily be heard in the dining room. Best meal I've had in Jackson. If you decide to stop in....Pass on the meat and cheese charcuterie tray. Menu describes it to contain prosciutto but it was country ham. Gouda was middle-of-the-road. Not all the advertised meats and cheeses were served as indicated. Just not worth the money. Main course arrives. I was excited about the blacksmith slaw but it was only "OK." Got a BLT with pimento cheese and again was excited. Looked good, but it was also just alright. The facility is quite nice including the bathrooms. All was clean and inviting. I'm hoping they revamp the menu and hire a cook/chef. read more

So happy to have found a restaurant in the downtown Jackson area open on a Sunday!! We dined on the patio even though it was raining because we had our dog with us. The staff was super friendly and excited to see a pup dining too. They brought ice water for him which we thought was very thoughtful. The manager Melissa dropped by our table to check on us and we ended up having a nice conversation about dogs, puppies and training. Our waiter Dillion was on point. Great guy, friendly and seriously knows what it takes to be in the hospitality business. Food was good and the burger patty we ordered for Shadow was really good too ( yes we tried it ) We will be back on another Sunday to support this great local business. read more
