Found this place on yelp today. Atmosphere and food were great. My friend and I got 3 appetizers to share. It was more than enough food. We got the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and lump crab, cheese plate and a side of kale. The shrimp and lump crab and the cheese plate was amazing. I will definitely order again. Just celebrated my sister's 65th birthday here last night. We were supposed to celebrate at a different restaurant in Downtown Charleston but hurricane Dorian changed all that. However, it was Bistro on the boulevard to the rescue. And although they could not provide us with a private dining room like the Charleston facility, James Emily and Meredith were completely amazing as were our wait staff Hannah and James!! We had a party of 27 and we were handled with such great care. The staff was friendly and willing to accommodate our every need. The food was just as phenomenal as the customer service!! Not one complaint from our very large party and we were all 1st timers at the establishment. It was our first time but it definitely won't be our last time. I had the shrimp scampi and the portion was so generous that I ate last night and had leftovers. I hated to see it go it was so yummy!! This place is a keeper! We found it because a favorite musician, Jim LeBlanc was playing music there. We felt right at home as soon as we sat down.We had the Crab Dip Appetizer, which was delicious & more than plenty for the 2 of us. For dinner I had the Pistachio Encrusted Grouper with Mashed Potatoes & Asparagus, my husband had the Bayou Chicken Pasta. Both meals were amazing!! Great flavor & perfect seasoning. We never even reached for the salt & pepper. Our server Tony was always right there taking great care of us! A very casual, welcoming atmosphere.It's a great place for a nice dinner, to grab a burger, or an appetizer & drinks. I'm so happy to have a locally owned restaurant in an area filled with chains. But it's disappointing. My husband and I have been here a few times. Our best experience was outside on the patio this past Spring. We came back this weekend and it's just so underwhelming. I'm happy to pay the prices they have if the restaurant is clean and nice. It's not. Our booth was dirty, there were 2 candles on our table, not lit and looked dirty. They seemed to be just thrown on there. He ordered the filet tips appetizer as his meal and I got a pasta dish. His food came out before mine. Granted, our server (who was great btw) did ask if he wanted his because it came up first. Of course he did, it's steak- you don't want that sitting under a heat lamp. But it's not enjoyable for him to eat his meal while I wait on mine. He also got a $4 side of asparagus. 4 pieces of asparagus for $4, $1 each?? Crazy. I just wish they would step up the cleanliness, inside atmosphere and the timing of the food. There is so much potential here but it will be a very long time before we go back, if we do. read more

I made a reservation for two on their app and requested that there be a booth set aside for my reservation. When we got there Joni was the hostess that "assisted us" I use that term lightly because she was rude, her tone was cold, I didn't get my booth despite several being open... and me and my party did not get any silverware. It took over 10 minutes for us to meet our waitress, but once we did, Andrea was amazing. Attached is a photo of my cup that I was given to drink out of even though the rest of the restaurant had glassware. We ordered an appetizer and then about 15 minutes later Andrea came back and took our food order. Once again her service as our waitress was amazing and it seemed as though she was trying to pick up the slack of other waiters/waitress'. It shouldn't take my waitress going to the back and rolling my silverware after i get my appetizer (yes, I saw her go roll our silverware which means I wasn't the only one without). My salad tasted old and gritty, almost as if the leafy greens were not washed before the rest of the salad was prepared. Needless to say I didn't eat it. Once our meals came, we were disappointed at how under seasoned the steak was. It was cooked perfectly, but has absolutely no seasoning. My friend got the pound of crab and he stated that it was overcooked and under seasoned as well. Once we were finished our meal, we paid our bill and tipped our live musician which was amazing. Very disappointing, read the menu online that they had a grass fed steak was very excited to find a place with some values only to open the menu upon arrival to see it had been removed from the menu. They should definitely update their online menu. Decided to try the specials, worst grits I've had I think they actually had pimento cheese in them, no flavor in the fish, and tasted like mint was in the corn. My daughter treated me to lunch on Mother's Day. They had a very nice brunch buffet with an array of choices. My daughter choose the buffet. I really enjoy Shecrab Soup. I was too disappointed. The soup was tasteless and little evidence of crab. It was more on the lines of a thin potato soup. My salad was a large serving greens and a nicely grilled potion of chicken. My salad had a few shreds of cheese and a couple pieces of tomato and lots of croutons. I was not happy, but my daughter was doing her best. I didn't complain. My fiancé and I ate at bistro for the first time last night and were very impressed. All of the apps sounded amazing but we opted for the fried green tomatoes and shecrab soup and they didn't disappoint. I had the Chicken Marsala with sautéed kale and sweet potato fries (yum) and he had the special Farmer's Ribeye which was cooked perfectly and topped with bacon, egg (perfectly runny) and apple BBQ sauce - he raved it was one of the best steaks he's ever had, and that's a big deal coming from the "ribeye grill master" himself. Our drinks were great and reasonably priced as well, I loved my ginger mojito! Hoping next time the humidity will be down and we can eat out on the spacious patio. Service was attentive and friendly and the owner made sure we were well taken care of too. The menu selection is well rounded but not overwhelming, overall great atmosphere and delicious quality food that far exceeds what you'll get at any chain restaurant (and for about the same price!). If I could give this place - I would. The service started poorly from when we were at the hostess stand. It was three ppl in my party. We asked the hostess to be seated by the TV and she rudely replied "I didn't even know we had a TV! " When the TV can clearly be seen. I took a trip to the restroom and on the way back I stopped by the bar to check out the drink specials to notice misspelled words on the board. Once ready to order the waitress seemed as though she didn't want to serve us, poor attitude & poor customer service! The calamari appitizers came out cold & the sausage & shrimp appitizer came out with NO sausage at all. We called the waitress back to the table to point out the issues & again her attitude was terrible! We then asked for the Manager to tell her about the waitress's terrible attitude & the issues with the food. Once the appitizers came back out the unprofessional cook/chef (if you can call him/her that) did NOT make fresh appitizers but added raw (half cooked) calamari on top of the previous cold dish & added sausage on top of the other dish?!?!?!! I was flabbergasted!! Needless to say this was one of the WORST experiences I've had at a restaurant! After we couldn't get past the appitizers we decided the place was not trustworthy enough to eat dinner, paid for ONLY the drinks & left hungry... Wow did we get lucky! We found Bistro on Yelp along with 50+ other places but chose Bistro bc of the excellent rating and very reasonable costs. We were NOT disappointed. Our server, Wes, was amazing! The crab cakes and mixed vegetables were the best. My husband couldn't eat all of his Caesar salad so I can honestly say it was delish, bc I finished it off for him. Update time. I have been back at this place twice and no complaints. I order both times to go because in the middle of the week you just do not want to go out so you send you husband to pick it up, "Me". We order Voodoo Skillet (App), Shrimp&Grits, and Ahi Tuna one time. The shrimp&grits was 10 out of 5 stars. I will have to pay off the cook for the recipe one of these days. The Voodoo was good and everyone liked it. The Ahi Tuna....I want more!! It was that good but more fish please. That is how they reel you in again and again. Wanting more when you leave. I will add one more thing, I juice at home. Kale has a bitter taste to it but you order kale from here it won't have it. The cook knows what he or she is doing in my opinion or some good training is happening in the kitchen/back end. Oh, the bartender was awesome. This place is incredible! The owner came to our table to check on us and our waitress was top notch! The food was equally as incredible. I dined at this restaurant with a group on 3/24. We waited more than an hour for our meals, all the while watching others who arrived after well us getting served. The excuse offered by the wait staff was that large group orders take longer, but our main course food came out of the kitchen in waves over a 20 minute period. If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. And it would all be the result of our interaction with the manager. Of course, over the course of the 2+ hours we spent ordering/reordering and waiting for our food, a number of unacceptable restaurant practice events occurred. Twice we were told the meal we ordered was no longer available. Once, we were told that the delay was due to "a backed up kitchen." Food was cold, and not served as ordered. But the one star is a result of the terrible, and i mean terrible, customer service from the manager. The manager who was informed of our experience and did/offered NOTHING to make it right. And, with an attitude I can only describe as oblivious and uncaring, he said perhaps we would come back another night. And our check in no way reflected any concern on their part. When we walked out I said, "I hope you have as little concern for Yelp reviews as you do for your customers." And with a look of distain, without words, he told me that was true. read more

Had the pleasure of dining here last night. This is the same location as the former Catch 22 restaurant in Irmo on Lake Murray Blvd. The place was definitely spruced up a bit, there were new tables and chairs outside and also on the inside. The booths looked like they had been re-done as well. All the wood all around appeared clean and shiny. There was new artwork and lighting and it all looked very nice. The staff was friendly and attentive. The menu was good and they had daily specials as well. I had the She crab soup, it was a bit watery but pretty decent. I don't know if it was happy hour or what, but our house Chardonnay was very good and only $3 a glass (stated $4 on the menu). They gave you a generous glass of wine, a nice touch as most places give you much less for at least $6 or $7 a glass. There was a decent crowd at 6:30pm.
