The building used to be an old military hanger which is where they get their iconic domed ceiling. I know I can always count on the host greeting you right at the door, food coming out at a reasonable time, and water being refilled before having to ask. Seared perfectly in butter and the only place outside of France that has done this fish justice. James had the Scallops and Pork Belly. It was a new spin on surf and turf. Judging by how little he spoke to me during his meal, I am assuming it was fabulous. He did give me a bite and the scallop was prepared perfectly and was probably the best scallop that I've had in DFW. The restaurant sent us over 2 glasses of house-made bourbon crème for our anniversary. It was similar to Baileys, but on steroids. For dessert, we walked back over to the bar for after dinner drinks. James enjoyed a glass of Abelour Scotch neat. It's his favorite as it's not peaty at all. Jamie, the bartender, made me the best espresso martini that I've ever had! Fresh espresso mixed with espresso liqueur, reposado tequila and bourbon cream. She hit the top with flame to settle the bubbles in order to add espresso beans. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. Goodwin's burger was rated one of the best and it lived up to their reputation. We had one burger medium rare and one burger medium well and we had one patty melt, along with salad and fries. All were cooked perfectly. Service was a 10 and the ambiance was a 10. Drinks were great and they had every bourbon we asked for. I would definitely return with my spouse to spoil her.
