You've heard the expression "small, but mighty," right? This very aptly describes this very narrow, very small coffee shop over in Severna Park! It might look tiny, but don't misjudge the coffee and other drinks they are making here! I actually went back after my first order to try another beverage, it was that good. I started with a Fall-flavored 'refresher,' though I can't honestly remember the name. But, it was amazing! I was down the strip a few shops for an event, so I popped back to The Big Bean before they closed for their "Not Ready for Winter" coffee concoction. Another winner! I also picked up a couple of biscotti for later. When we did finally get around to trying them, they were incredible! Very hard and crunchy as a biscotti should be, and perfect for soaking up some coffee for dunking. And the flavors are perfect. Other people were ordering their breakfast sandwiches, which honestly looked and smelled incredible... I just didn't have room for food that day. Or, I would have totally ordered one just based off of others' orders alone! The real five-star facet here, though, was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful, despite how busy they were. They still found time for friendly and cheerful banter while ringing everyone up. I don't think team members get enough credit when they go above and beyond, but please take the time to tip or at least acknowledge the fantastic folks here! Overall, it's a wonderful coffee shop that I wish were closer to home! And... had more parking! The number and orientation of spots here isn't ideal, but it's worth an extra walk (huge lot across the street) for the drinks, snacks, and people at The Big Bean. This is a staple to Severna Park. The staff is friendly and local students. Great coffee to take with you on the road or on the trail. Great location on the trail so you can get something to eat or drink on your Saturday morning ride or run. Small place inside and it's more designed to sit outside, but they still have a few small tables inside. read more

This is a cute little coffee shop with limited seating and a delicious chai latte. They make it with Oregon Chai syrup. My husband really liked his Toasted Caramel Creme Brûlée (it was one of the specials). The baristas were great with accommodating my son's request for marshmallow syrup in his "frozen hot chocolate." The woman taking our order was sweet and laughed with us when we joked about names we gave. The service was prompt and kind. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

A great coffee shop and lovely seating right on the bike path for the B&A trail. You can sit outside and enjoy your coffee while sitting under some blossoms. My friend and I both had iced lattes and they were very good. There's a window on the back of the shop that lets you order your drinks and sit outside. I went one Saturday morning for coffee. I'm not a huge coffee guy. Once the temps are in the 70's at 6am I don't drink hot coffee. 2nd Alarm has closed, and I wanted a cup. I got a hot Mexi and the feta spinach pretzel. The staff was very pleasant and everything was fine but...if your tastes are similar to mine( I like coffee, not desert), I would ask for whatever you're getting "half-sweet". Nothing at all negative to say, just a personal preference. The location is easy to get in and out of and the drive-thru menu was bright and easy to read. I just walked up though because I'm not a fan of ordering at drive-thrus. Again, that's just me. read more

THE cutest little coffee shop! Easy to find if you run/bike/walk the BWI trail. Plenty of parking if you drive. So many coffee and teas to choose from. I love the many sugar free syrup options. Oat Milk, Almond, Coconut are available as well. I loved my iced chai with sugar free salted caramel and oat milk. So delicious! Oh and the cute little cake pop by the register, I could not resist! Wanted a local spot for coffee meet up with sis. I chose and absolutely loved the Mexican coffee. It was the perfect balance of flavor for me. The chocolate chip muffin was moist and the two together satisfied my sweet crave. Friendly staff with great customer service. First time visiting here. Came for my usual iced americano and a light snack. The pastry selection was nice. I got a biscotti and it was tasty. My iced americano was alarmingly black in color. I love strong coffee, don't get me wrong, but the coffee to water was imbalanced. The espresso was extremely over extracted and bitter- it tasted akin to poison. It will work for purpose of emptying my bowels, but I won't enjoy it on the way down! read more

My daughter and I wanted to check out the B & A Trail (that's Baltimore & Annapolis) and decided a good motivation to walk a couple of miles was to have a goal. We couldn't have chosen a better one than this adorable coffee shop! They are very "trail-friendly", welcoming all who frequent the trail, even the 4-footed walkers! My daughter had bulletproof coffee and pronounced it "excellent", while I stuck to my favorite, iced mocha. Also excellent. Prices average for specialty coffees these days, around $8 not including tip. As others have mentioned, the customer service was great - a friendly greeting and chat was very welcoming, from the barista. We have so many other segments of the trail to cover, we might not walk this way again. But I would definitely swing by if I was driving anywhere in the area, to have some great coffee and try some of the luscious-looking goodies on display. read more

Great nice people that run this coffee shop and work there. The coffee and service are %100 outstanding and the two shops are such happy places to go to and chill out, like a nice sunny day. The Ice Nitro's are brewed right there , kind of thick, and taste great!!!! I had Nitro's other places, but the Big Bean does it right. A gem find for a local coffee shop. What caught our eyes were they had Mexican hot chocolate and Mexican mocha. We just had to give them a try! They were really good. It reminds me of a local coffee place in the Midwest where I found the best Mexican hot chocolate ever! This come close to it! They also have kiddie cups for kids! Love it when the establishments are kid friendly. The kid got warm hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles per recommended by the worker. He asked for more when he finished his!
