I stopped by The Bicycle Stand about an hour before closing looking to get a quick tire swap--switching to a different rim, adding sealant, and filling it with air. It was a pretty simple job that I assumed wouldn't take long. At first, they asked me to leave the bike overnight, but after explaining my situation, they decided to help me out, which I genuinely appreciated. The staff member was friendly and helpful, and the work was completed when I came back. That said, I was a bit surprised by the overall experience. For $40, I expected a little more clarity and consistency. When I asked about labor pricing, I was told they charge different prices for different things, which felt a little unusual and unclear to me. Also, while I understand I didn't specifically request sealant for the front tire, I just assumed it would be part of the service since the rear tire was being handled. In hindsight, that may have been my expectation, but it still felt like something that could have been communicated more clearly. On top of that, the pricing just felt high for the amount of work done, especially given how quick the job likely was. It gave me the impression that I was charged a bit more due to the timing and urgency of the request. Overall, I appreciated the willingness to help me out last minute and the friendly service, but between the pricing and lack of clarity, it left me with mixed feelings. My front wheel was recently stolen, and they were able to replace it with a used, vintage one for $40 + new tube and labor $65. You can bring your bike in anytime they're open to assess and go from there. They are very knowledgeable. They also have great new and used bikes as well as parts. read more

I think it can be kind of intimidating sometimes walking into, or cycling into, a cycling store if you're not a certain level of bike enthusiast. I have never felt that way anytime I go into the bicycle stand. I'm just your regular girl who enjoys riding bikes sometimes when I pop in there they answer my questions, they help me if I have an issue and I think they charge a fair price. 2 years later, The Bicycle Stand continues to be a great shop. I've come in here a few times, most recently to change a tube. $15 labor and $10 for the part; the employees really do their best to help you out. I had an issue with the tube we replaced and came back in a few days later and they were really helpful in troubleshooting it and helping me get my bike in good condition. I absolutely would recommend taking your bike here for maintenance or to let them help you find a bike for your needs. They are very knowledgable. I'm going to be moving away from this being my local bike shop, which is unfortunate--I hope in my new neighborhood, I will be able to find a place like it! read more

I road cycle 150-200 miles a week but beyond cleaning my bike and repairing (ugh) the occasional flat, I prefer to rely on a bike shop to handle the real guts of my bikes with good service at good prices. The Bicycle Stand does both. Locally owned by Evan, he and his mechanics do a great job. One of my two bikes is a triple which usually means that many mechanics are inexperienced with this tuning up. My other bike is a less known Felt (but actually a Southern Cal product) and they do a great job with this bike too. It's always best to call ahead just to see how their workload is going but they usually do a quick turnaround. read more

Went in for a wheel repair as I walked away I noticed a small bump forming on the tire I thought it was tape that was possibly set wrong .Going back to the store minutes after I left the tire literally exploded . Destroying my original tire I only had for 3 months . They charged me full price for a new tire and said they didn't charge for service this time which I already paid for when I originally came into the shop. I asked for at least half price on the new tire since my original which was destroyed immediately after service with them. It's not their job to give free product but destroying a tire due to bad service and not even compromising any discount to a new tire and saying the free service is enough compensation even though the first service was the reason I went back in the first place. Basically they were trying to make it sound like it was my fault. This is bad business and I personally won't come back to this shop ever again . read more

This IS the bike place to go!! First of all- OPEN ON SUNDAY !! Bike pedal came off, found this place after calling several others that were closed. Fixed the pedal, no problem & no charge also "bring it back if it comes off again"! While riding, gear shift totally fell apart on our another bike.... What time do they close on SUNDAY ? 6 pm !! Threw the other bike in the truck and dropped it off !! This commuter is so thankful for shops that are open on Sunday because I have no time during the week. Gentleman was SUPER helpful.... I knew that the price for these services would be over 20% in cost for other bikes shops... but I was ok believing that they will provide an extraordinary service: I was mistaken. I drop the bike early June almost 3 weeks with them... They told me that bike would be ready in 9 days (actually 7 office days!!!!!): only BECAUSE I am Not on the neighborhood, I came back 14 days later... and I arrive 14 days later TO WAIT over 40 MINUTES for a guy to finish it. His reason WAS that they were waiting for a "PART" (a chain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!): pretty basic!!!!!! for a bike shop to HAVE spare parts like chain ...(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))))) Short story: I hope owners read this feedback and DO better for their customer service in the future (even if they have a good flow for walks in...). I've been shopping here since they opened. Staff is always helpful and friendly. They are flexible and sometimes have done small jobs for me on the spot, like broken spokes and stuff. Their time estimates for bigger jobs have been spot on, and the prices they've quoted me as well. Check here before you order online - their prices are competitive in my experience, and there are so many cool historic bikes to see here as well. One of the friendliest shops around. I think the biggest compliment I can give is that it's about as far from corporate-feeling as you can get at a bike shop.
