I've been a customer of The Bicycle Stand for over 14 years, ever since I bought my beautiful city bike from them more than a decade ago. They have kept me rolling safe through Long Beach with their excellent tune‑ups, thoughtful service, and genuine kindness. As my dog aged past 15, it became harder to get him in the bike basket, I locked outdoors and it started to look a little rough and sounded squeaky. After my sweet dog Sid passed, I ended up in an accident I caused myself. It damaged my shifter and bent my fender into the wheel. It had some other damage too. The helmet I bought at The Bicycle Stand literally saved my head. That helmet cracked during the fall, but I didn't. Yay. I am emotionally attached to my bike and I didn't want to give up on it, so I brought it in. Tony (from Boston), the crew and the owners, Evan and Nicole, treated me with so much care, even when I was feeling especially embarrassed. They restored my bike so it rides as smooth as the day I bought it. The team does an excellent job and they are always on point. Their helmets have always been top quality. I feel safe every time I purchase essential gear from them. Getting back on my bike with my new helmet feels amazing. I cannot recommend The Bicycle Stand enough. I gotta say it... Juan is a fantastic human that cares where the community and looks out for the individual instead of maximizing the sale. You know the feeling at a corporate chain like Jack's bike store? They're trying to fit everything they can in your shopping cart and grin as they take your money. This is the opposite. I stopped by The Bicycle Stand about an hour before closing looking to get a quick tire swap--switching to a different rim, adding sealant, and filling it with air. It was a pretty simple job that I assumed wouldn't take long. At first, they asked me to leave the bike overnight, but after explaining my situation, they decided to help me out, which I genuinely appreciated. The staff member was friendly and helpful, and the work was completed when I came back. That said, I was a bit surprised by the overall experience. For $40, I expected a little more clarity and consistency. When I asked about labor pricing, I was told they charge different prices for different things, which felt a little unusual and unclear to me. Also, while I understand I didn't specifically request sealant for the front tire, I just assumed it would be part of the service since the rear tire was being handled. In hindsight, that may have been my expectation, but it still felt like something that could have been communicated more clearly. On top of that, the pricing just felt high for the amount of work done, especially given how quick the job likely was. It gave me the impression that I was charged a bit more due to the timing and urgency of the request. Overall, I appreciated the willingness to help me out last minute and the friendly service, but between the pricing and lack of clarity, it left me with mixed feelings. Well I once thought this place was great but? After they moved I took my bike in for them to sell it on consignment. When I dropped it off I was told that they would evaluate the bike for function and safety, and let me know what they were going to list it for. I waited about two weeks and did not hear anything from management. I went back in and asked what was going on and they told me again that management would reach out to me and let me know what they were going to list it for. A week went by and again, I never heard from anyone. Another week went by and I went back in this time. They told me that they had gone through it. They hadn't found any issues and then they were gonna list it for a price that I thought was very high but OK let's see what happens. I never once received any communication from anyone at the bike stand, unless I went in physically and asked. At this point I just considered they were storing the bike for me. I actually started to worry that the bike may just disappear and they'll say we don't know anything about. I became very concerned with their lack of professionalism. I finally went back in and retrieved my bike when I explained the situation to the owner (I did not get her name) told me that "that's not how we do business here" but it is exactly how you did business, so unfortunately, I would not recommend anyone bring their bike into the bike stand to sell on consignment. I would like to say that the service and repairs I have had done on my bikes there were very well done and were reasonably priced. Service and maintenance 4.5 stars taking your bike in for consignment not so much. read more

Bicycle Stand is still my #1 place for bike repairs and tune-ups! Update on tune-up rate: $95 Schedule an appointment. They're usually a couple weeks out in involved repairs and tune-ups. My front wheel was recently stolen, and they were able to replace it with a used, vintage one for $40 + new tube and labor $65. You can bring your bike in anytime they're open to assess and go from there. They are very knowledgeable. They also have great new and used bikes as well as parts. read more

My personal experience of bikes is one of variety of bikes and using them at the right place and right time. My mountain bike had some weird clicks in it and The Bike Stand fixed it up...in fact, the business owner, Evan, who is often right in the mix and on the front lines of service, jumped right in to put the finishing touches on my bike fix up...He cares and is dedicated to fixing bikes. I think it can be kind of intimidating sometimes walking into, or cycling into, a cycling store if you're not a certain level of bike enthusiast. I have never felt that way anytime I go into the bicycle stand. I'm just your regular girl who enjoys riding bikes sometimes when I pop in there they answer my questions, they help me if I have an issue and I think they charge a fair price. Not to mention everyone that works there is pretty nice and easy to talk to read more

2 years later, The Bicycle Stand continues to be a great shop. I've come in here a few times, most recently to change a tube. $15 labor and $10 for the part; the employees really do their best to help you out. I had an issue with the tube we replaced and came back in a few days later and they were really helpful in troubleshooting it and helping me get my bike in good condition. I absolutely would recommend taking your bike here for maintenance or to let them help you find a bike for your needs. They are very knowledgable. I'm going to be moving away from this being my local bike shop, which is unfortunate--I hope in my new neighborhood, I will be able to find a place like it! read more

I road cycle 150-200 miles a week but beyond cleaning my bike and repairing (ugh) the occasional flat, I prefer to rely on a bike shop to handle the real guts of my bikes with good service at good prices. The Bicycle Stand does both. Locally owned by Evan, he and his mechanics do a great job. One of my two bikes is a triple which usually means that many mechanics are inexperienced with this tuning up. My other bike is a less known Felt (but actually a Southern Cal product) and they do a great job with this bike too. It's always best to call ahead just to see how their workload is going but they usually do a quick turnaround. read more

This IS the bike place to go!! First of all- OPEN ON SUNDAY !! Bike pedal came off, found this place after calling several others that were closed. Fixed the pedal, no problem & no charge also "bring it back if it comes off again"! While riding, gear shift totally fell apart on our another bike.... What time do they close on SUNDAY ? 6 pm !! Threw the other bike in the truck and dropped it off !! This commuter is so thankful for shops that are open on Sunday because I have no time during the week. Gentleman was SUPER helpful.... Went in for a wheel repair as I walked away I noticed a small bump forming on the tire I thought it was tape that was possibly set wrong .Going back to the store minutes after I left the tire literally exploded . Destroying my original tire I only had for 3 months . They charged me full price for a new tire and said they didn't charge for service this time which I already paid for when I originally came into the shop. I asked for at least half price on the new tire since my original which was destroyed immediately after service with them. It's not their job to give free product but destroying a tire due to bad service and not even compromising any discount to a new tire and saying the free service is enough compensation even though the first service was the reason I went back in the first place. Basically they were trying to make it sound like it was my fault. This is bad business and I personally won't come back to this shop ever again . read more

I've been shopping here since they opened. Staff is always helpful and friendly. They are flexible and sometimes have done small jobs for me on the spot, like broken spokes and stuff. Their time estimates for bigger jobs have been spot on, and the prices they've quoted me as well. I drop my wife's bicycle 4 weeks earlier for a service... I knew that the price for these services would be over 20% in cost for other bikes shops... but I was ok believing that they will provide an extraordinary service: I was mistaken. I drop the bike early June almost 3 weeks with them... They told me that bike would be ready in 9 days (actually 7 office days!!!!!): only BECAUSE I am Not on the neighborhood, I came back 14 days later... and I arrive 14 days later TO WAIT over 40 MINUTES for a guy to finish it. His reason WAS that they were waiting for a "PART" (a chain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!): pretty basic!!!!!! for a bike shop to HAVE spare parts like chain ...(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))))) Short story: I hope owners read this feedback and DO better for their customer service in the future (even if they have a good flow for walks in...).
