I went in to rent a storage space for my recumbent trike. Being a disabled veteran I figured this is great a bicycle garage right next to the main transportation hub, downtown. But this was not to be. The workers were unable to decide if my three wheeled mobility device was allowed in their facility. ( perhaps unseen frolicking was taking place when the humans were away?) So in the second largest city of Los Angeles County there is no where that I have found to park my valuable trike overnight in safety and security. Any real solutions readers? read more

I realized recently: I'd never written my local bike shop a review! I've only been here twice, both times for expensive repairs outside my control: once a couple years ago when I learned an expensive lesson about which bike tire to lock up if you can only lock one (the back one: it costs way more to replace if someone steals it, I learned when I had to replace my back tire here!), and then again a few weeks ago, when there was a freak fire in our condo's main communications room because 2020 was that sort of year, and it happens that that's also our bike room, and I guess bikes got moved hurriedly in putting out the fire, so end result was, they put out the fire, but I needed a new bike seat (damaged) and one new handlebar grip (missing). I'm I checked their current covid status - they were really friendly when I made a reservation - I literally called them that morning when I read they required reservation, they said the next one was at 10:30, so I said sure and then showed up right at 10:30! They probably wouldn't have been nearly as friendly if I hadn't had a reservation and just showed up, but that's not their fault that people don't check the website and then ignore the signs in the window! Anyway, I showed up right at 10:30, they were super friendly, showed me exactly what they had for replacement parts, got them to just install both of them for $65 after taxes and labor costs - went around the corner and got a coffee from Recreational, came back half an hour later, had a new bike seat and two new handlebar grips, all better than the originals. I figure I could've gotten the parts cheaper on Amazon and tried doing it myself, but they probably gave me better parts than the cheap ones I would've bought cause I didn't know what I was doing, and I could've messed up the installation, too! I'd have no reason not to keep coming back here. read more

They adjusted our seats, gave us a map and off we went The bike lanes were well marked which made them easy to navigate. We followed the bike lane all the way to the Queen Mary and then onto Belmont Shores. Nice scenic ride! read more

OMG. I don't usually have the time or patience to write reviews. But I am so incredibly impressed right now. I have a bike that has been sitting outside in my patio for over a year-- so needless to say it was not in great shape. I am leaving for school in a little over a week, and I really needed to fix up my bike before I leave so I could take it with me. I tried calling several other bike shops, and all of them were unfortunately booked out for at least a few weeks (my fault for procrastinating). I called Pedal Movement and they said to bring my bike in so they could take a look at it and determine if they could repair everything within my timeframe. They were the first place to say yes to me, so I immediately schedule an appointment. I came in and was helped by Jasmine. (Sidenote: covid protocol was followed perfectly-- appointment only, sanitizer available, plastic shields at the counter, social distancing, signage, everything). Jasmine was SO nice/awesome/helpful. She made it clear that I would have to spend some coin to fix my bike, but at the same time she was definitely trying to save me as much money as possible. My bike needed to be deep cleaned, polished, new tubes, derailleur, and several other parts needed to be replaced. It was NOT an easy job. I told her my situation and she said she would try to have it done ASAP, and it would probably be ready the day before I had to leave (which was fine with me). Fast forward to today, the day after I dropped off my bike. I get a call from Anthony (?) who said he FINISHED fixing my bike and it was ready to pick up. LESS THAN 24HRS! I was in shock lol. With starting school, moving, packing, etc etc, it has been a stressful time. So to have Pedal Movement take this one thing off my plate-- I'm just feeling very grateful and want to give them a big fat shout out. Keep being awesome!! read more

Let me start by saying that former employee Mike was a great guy plus very professional, I was very disappointed with the way the company has moved forward with the people that they have hired "Anthony" has a horrible attitude and has no respect for customer. I left my bike that I have had over 15 years at the shop for service about a year ago or so and was not available to pick up because of a life hiccup. I called today and spoke to Anthony just for him to tell me that " they have donated my bike" TOTAL BULLS#IT. I explained my situation to them and instead of being helped I was called names when they thought they put me on hold like "that Fuc#en guy" and "Fu#k him!!" I was so disappointed in the way this whole situation was taken care off, My advice stay away!!! Worst part is that Nick the store manager justified there actions by saying that Anthony was frustrated, All over 270 dollars thanks Pedal-movement for nothing. I will seek some legal advice. Only complaint would be both bikes came with baskets and they didn't install them and offered to throw away boxes but luckily we kept them because both had the baskets inside. This is the place to bring you two-wheel friend when it's in need of some care. Long Beach is really becoming bike friendly more than ever (checkout the new bike lanes). The Bikestation is in a good location on Broadway. This whole area of town has been upgraded over the past couple of years and more imporvements are in the works. This review is for the free bike valet service at the Long Beach Southeast Farmer's Market on Sundays from 9a-2p. They also offer door-to-door service to your home! This is a wonderful service that is FREE to those who bike to the farmer's market and graciously accepts tips. Check-in is easy, with a ticket stub given to you and they offer tune-ups, fill-ups on air and a bike cleaning. The staff was friendly, energetic and passionate about this cause. Customer service here is off the charts. I spoke to Jacob over the phone and he was so helpful and friendly that I felt comfortable enough to come in. He was able fix my front handle bars and adjust my front fender. Justin is also helpful, he put air in my front tire and took initiative and put some in the back tire without me asking. After not riding my bike for 12 years I brought it to Bikestation for new tubes, chain and a clean up. They first advised that I stick with my former bike and not buy a new one. To just have the tubes replaced and possibly the chain. I brought my bike in and they cleaned it but but were unable to replace the tubes because they required a special process. They referred me to two other bike shops that could help, they said my chain was good and only need some oil and they had cleaned up the bike. They charged me $0.00 (yes zero) I put a generous tip in the tip jar and will return if I need anything else. read more

Truly the most honest and friendly people I've met in any bike shop anywhere. After having a pretty bad experience with another bike shop in Long Beach (will not be named), I went to Pedal Movement and they got me squared away in no time. During this pandemic they are taking appointments only so make sure you schedule one if you need your bike looked at.
