Compression socks
Nicolas J.

They helped me with two inner tube replacements the sizes I had weren't right so they helped me with the right size and even guided me on the sizing in case I wish to get the inner tube myself next time. I bought some compression socks as well to support this small business. Thanks for being a positive benefit for the community

That's some of the Long Beach Veterans Adminstration recumbent trike riders in action.
Santiago B.

I went in to rent a storage space for my recumbent trike. Being a disabled veteran I figured this is great a bicycle garage right next to the main transportation hub, downtown. But this was not to be. The workers were unable to decide if my three wheeled mobility device was allowed in their facility. ( perhaps unseen frolicking was taking place when the humans were away?) So in the second largest city of Los Angeles County there is no where that I have found to park my valuable trike overnight in safety and security. Any real solutions readers?

Cruising Long Brach
Susan C.

This bike shop is close to the convention center and about 1/4 mile from the beach. They only rent cruisers with peddle brakes. No road bikes. Staff friendly and efficient. They adjusted our seats, gave us a map and off we went The bike lanes were well marked which made them easy to navigate. We followed the bike lane all the way to the Queen Mary and then onto Belmont Shores. Nice scenic ride!

R u guys open today?

Hi Shelly, apologies for the delay! Each year we are closed on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after.

After researching the many places you can rent bikes in this town, I decided on Bikestation for a few reasons.

Horrible experience…read more 1) Couldn't get signed up because of a corporate email recognition issue. 2) Get signed up, went on one bike ride that was decent. 3) My second go at renting a bike was much worse. Unlock a bike and find out the front tire is flat. Put it back, get another bike, the back wheel is locked. Put it back, get another bike which is decent although a bit rickety. 4) Ride to dinner, lock the bike to a pole and eat. Turn back to go home and... 5) The bike won't connect to my phone, or the cloud, or whatever ambiguous system it is "connecting" to when you attempt to unlock. Try, try, try again, toggle Bluetooth and force quit the app as suggested, bike still won't unlock. 6) Get harassed by a mentally ill person because now I look like a dumb, desperate yuppy with a yuppy bike and a yuppy phone who can't get his yuppy ass back to the 'burbs. 7) Fill out a support request form and submit it, ditch the bike, call an Uber. Oh, wait, **Now** the app will let me call and speak to someone. 8) Call and speak to someone who (admittedly was very polite and friendly and was the best part of this experience, kudos to her) tells me to toggle bluetooth and cycle the app. 9) The customer support agent finally was able to give me an override code for the keypad on the bike. I was only able to get this code over the phone. What a clusterfuck. Shouldn't the code be available no-matter what? Maybe my phone is offline, dead, bluetooth disabled, cloud came crashing down, etc. Horrible interface. Also, the bike doesn't have any lights built in. I have used three other bikeshares that come with peddle-powered lighting. Peddled home in the dark on the sidewalk hoping I wouldn't get run and/or pulled over. Should have taken my car, won't take Zagster again. Use the powder blue bikes the City of Long Beach installed... they have lights and they work.

A Zagster customer locked a bike to a tree next to my house 3 days ago. Bike I.D. 4574. These bikes are supposed to be returned to designated Zagster stations. In my area, that would be in Playa Vista, a neighborhood about a mile down the road from us. My wife called Zagster's 24 hour customer service line listed on the bike. The recording at that line directs you to contact them via the website, which is your only contact option. She did so on Sunday. They responded by email the same day to say they would send someone ASAP to get the bike. It is now Tuesday. The bike is still there. I contacted Zagster through their website again, but as yet have received no response.

I stopped by The Bicycle Stand about an hour before closing looking to get a quick tire…read moreswap--switching to a different rim, adding sealant, and filling it with air. It was a pretty simple job that I assumed wouldn't take long. At first, they asked me to leave the bike overnight, but after explaining my situation, they decided to help me out, which I genuinely appreciated. The staff member was friendly and helpful, and the work was completed when I came back. That said, I was a bit surprised by the overall experience. For $40, I expected a little more clarity and consistency. When I asked about labor pricing, I was told they charge different prices for different things, which felt a little unusual and unclear to me. Also, while I understand I didn't specifically request sealant for the front tire, I just assumed it would be part of the service since the rear tire was being handled. In hindsight, that may have been my expectation, but it still felt like something that could have been communicated more clearly. On top of that, the pricing just felt high for the amount of work done, especially given how quick the job likely was. It gave me the impression that I was charged a bit more due to the timing and urgency of the request. Overall, I appreciated the willingness to help me out last minute and the friendly service, but between the pricing and lack of clarity, it left me with mixed feelings. I probably wouldn't return based on this experience.
