The bottom was falling out. The springs were so far gone that every time you sat in it you felt like you might actually fall through. Artisan Interiors rebuilt the interior completely, eight-way hand-tied springs, the whole structure, and saved the original fabric his grandmother had chosen. All of it. They polished the wood while they had it. Two to three weeks, reasonable price, no drama. David runs the operation and was easy to talk to from the first conversation. Knowledgeable, straightforward, no overselling. It's a family business -- his father is the upholsterer -- and it shows in how they treat what you bring them. I didn't fully understand how damaged it was until I got it back. Now it feels the way it was supposed to feel. Solid. Sturdy. You can sit in it comfortably without holding your breath. First we meet in the office to go over colors and fabrics. David had incredible knowledge and great suggestions of what would fit with our space and accounted for our pets. We landed on a thus great blue color that wouldn't be harmed by cats and great at dealing with moisture. Then his people came to our home, quickly but carefully took all the chairs and bench and they were off. I wanted to change out my fabric cushions on my office chair as it was staining and creasing. After I picked out the new material all I had to do was wait and get the cushions back. Everything fit perfectly as cushions are taught as if they were brand new. Even with the new material the grooves and contours were all maintained. I have an old car because I enjoyed restoring it, but there are things I don't do because I want it to turn out great and I don't have enough experience; Headliners, alignments, exhaust, and glass installation are those things I do NOT do. I brought my firebird to Concord Auto Upholstery because of the fantastic job Freddy did on my 69 Camaro headliner back in 1997. He didn't remember the car, but I remember the headliner he did in that car, it too was fantastic. The price was half what Sergio in walnut creek quoted and Freddy finished it in a few hours.
