Ate here tonight for my friend's 50th bday after a great round of golf. 4 couples and we sat outside by the fire with an impeccable view of 18th green. Service was top notch; cocktails amazing (strawberry mule and flying the green were a hit....but the espresso martini to close out the night was the best). I walked in and was a little underwhelmed. Maybe it was due to the view being blocked because it was before the US Open or maybe it was the unfriendly attitude of the hostess at the front. Either way, the seating under the covered terrace was tight and the presentation seemed a little lacking. I'd go for a more casual lunch/dinner even though the price point is a bit high for casual. This place is located at The Lodge at Pebble Beach Golf Course and it overlooks the 18th green with a wonderful view of the ocean. We brought our dog and were seated on the patio. We shared a pepperoni flatbread, essentially a pizza, that was very good. The service was outstanding. Prices are a bit high but that should be expected for anyplace In the area. Our view was obstructed due to the construction of a grandstand for the US Open (not the restaurant's fault) but it was still very scenic and enjoyable. It costs $10.50 to enter 17 Mile Drive but, if you bring your gate receipt, restaurant staff will refund that amount from your bill. read more

Came here for a late dinner/drinks and so glad we snagged one of the last tables outside with a fire pit! We ordered the mussels, bread ballon, mushroom flatbread, and Mac and Cheese. The broth in the mussels is excellent! I will definitely be back for those! It was butterey but yet had a hint of spicy zing to it. I also enjoyed the bread balloon but the seasoning on top was a tad bit too salty for my taste. The mushroom flatbread was good (nothing special), and although the Mac and Cheese looked amazing unfortunately the taste was sub-par and lacked the cheesy creaminess a good Mac and cheese needs. 4 stars all together for the great service, mussels and ambience!! read more

This place is amazing from the view to the food. We were lucky enough to sit outside and enjoy the view while we are. Service was outstanding. We started with the falafel panzella (amazing) and our entrees were the sea scallops and filet. We ended with the s'mores skillet. Everything was so delicious! Sitting outside by the fire pits makes all the difference so I highly recommend that if you are good to dine here :) The best time is around sunset!! Excellent Restaurant We were looking for a restaurant that had vegetarian options and accepted dogs. We loved the views at this restaurant and were thrilled they allowed dogs. Our dog is large (90lbs) and the staff was very welcoming to him which was great. It was a warm day so luckily he was was able to lay in the shade under the table. We brought our own water bowl. There were 4 other dogs on the patio but all were well behaved. I ordered the roasted cauliflower, it was delicious and cooked perfectly. It appeared to be vegan and there were about 4 other vegetarian options on the menu. Others at the table tried the mushroom fries and thought they were tasty and the mushroom flatbread was a generous portion. The restaurant patio had a great view of the golf course and the water. It was great that we were able to have a nice lunch and have our dog with us. We would love to dine here again with our dog on a cooler day. Notes If you are dining with a large dog that can't do stairs you have to walk around the the building to the left to get down to lower level where the restaurant is. It is a bit of a walk but it is completely flat. Also if you sit at the square tables along the cement wall they sit multiple parties together at the same table if you don't have 6 people. read more

Our entire trip was last minute. My husband loves golf so we had the idea to come here for dinner. The restaurant was completely booked the entire night. We were able to be seated at the shared seating on the patio which was beautiful and had a fire place. The nights are cooler and the server brought a warm blanket and put the fire place on for us. The setting over the 18th hole was beautiful. The food was surprisingly good. The shrimp appetizer and the pizza were amazing! I would highly recommend it. read more

We went to The Bench spontaneously, after stopping at Pebble Beach during a weekend trip to Carmel. Cannot recommend this spot enough. While the food was phenomenal and the setting is spectacular (the restaurant is located just above the 18th green, overlooking the water & Carmel coastline), the service is what made our visit so memorable. Our waiter, Jason, was one of the nicest and most genuine servers we have ever come across - Jason truly took care of our every need & made us feel so at home. My parents were in town for Mother's day and I wanted to take them somewhere quintessential Carmel Valley/Monterey Bay. After seeing the stunning pictures of the Bench patio and its unobstructed bay views, this seemed like the perfect stop after completing 17-mile drive. I knew that we would basically be paying for the incredible view and sceney vibe (lots of shows of old/new money and golf culture here) and I was perfectly fine with that. That said, I tempered expectations with regards to the food and kind of just expected overpriced pizzas. The food was actually above average - not mind-blowing - but definitely tasty. We ordered the balloon bread which came with a sampling of greek dips. The bread was freshly baked and came out hot from the oven like a "balloon" - it was reminiscent of Indian naan. The falafel bowl was also surprisingly hearty and fresh -lots of chunky cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, and house made feta. The service was a little slow - we waited for our check for almost 25 minutes and our waiter passed by us many times . I didn't really mind as we were taking in the dusk views and snagged some unclaimed patio seating by the firepit for a few minutes! Note: if you actually get a firepit seat, you'll also get blankets and cushy seating. :) Definitely a memorable place to visit with out of town guests, on special occasions, or as a stop through 17 mile drive! read more

I live in Pebble Beach. To experience the Bench is one of the most fantastic outdoor fireside casual elegance, beyond your wildest dreams beautiful ever!! I dine with my husband and family almost exclusively in Pebble. The service and ambiance and quality of dining is beyond the highest expectation ( which I expect). Never a crowd. Golf cart took us to my car so my mother (74), didn't have to walk. Look no further than the Bench. Ocean kissing the golf green. I can't wait to go back. See you next week. read more

This restaurant is GOALS! I had never been to Pebble Beach so on a Saturday on our way into Carmel, my boyfriend and I picked out this restaurant to begin our day. Holy moly! So glad we did. It would be an understatement to say that we felt like we were living out our dreams on this patio! Situated on the Pebble Beach Golf Course, this restaurant is the perfect place to sit outside and take in the incredible views. Although we visited on a cloudy summer day, the view from the patio was still incomparable. There are both tables and couch areas with fire pits for outdoor dining. We enjoyed snuggling up on the couch and overlooking the beach and golf course. The food we ordered was equally tremendous -- portobello mushroom fries anyone?!) Yah, words cannot describe the deliciousness of those giant fries and aioli. We also ordered the bread balloon which was an experience all in itself. I feel like you must order this is you visit The Bench as everyone had one! Side note -the cocktails were TO DIE FOR! Whether you're looking for a romantic spot to share a drink and some appetizers or you're just wanting to lounge a little bit and soak up the sun and views, this place is a must. Had been to Pebble beach multiple times and had been wanting to try this place. Finally, went there last Tuesday. South Bay weather was pretty warm but it was foggy as usual in Monterey. We got the patio seating with the fireplace on the center of the table. Gorgeous view of the pacific and the golf course, engulfed in the fog which slowly spread to the patio as well. My family and I drove 400 miles to come to this exact place and let me tell you, best decision ever. The food was immaculate and the service was amazing. We came 30 minutes before closing and they were very open to let us stay and eat even though they were cleaning up. My family and I got two beef ball soup pho, one veggie pho, one meat egg roll, one veggie egg roll, and fried rice. The meat ball pho was so good. My daughter is a picky eater and she enjoyed it. We only had drinks and an appetizer as we had dinner reservations elsewhere. As soon as the waitress discovered we weren't going to be drinking or eating a lot, she wasn't all that attentive; however, she also did not rush us to leave which is amazing given that the tables are always in demand. We ordered the duck fat fried potatoes, which I thoroughly disliked. Husband didn't finish my half either, so neither of us would order them again. Wine and beer were, of course, delicious! The broccolini was also perfectly flavored. Proportions on our lunches provides the perfect amount. The burger was cooked perfect and the fries were super crunchy! After walking pebble beach we hitched a ride on a golf cart and headed for lunch to the Pebble beach country club. We had a lovely view overlooking the water on this lovely sunny day. We ordered Arnold Palmer Iced tea Blt salad with extra grilled onions Burger with fries Duck fat potatoes The burger was juicy, succulent and slightly charred My Blt salad was excellent. My boyfriend is an avid golf lover, so we picked this restaurant (located on the 18th hole of the Pebble Beach Golf Resort with AMAZING views) to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. I made a reservation well in advance, but there were a decent amount of open tables available on a Monday evening around 7 pm. It is worth noting that you have to enter Pebble Beach via 17 Mile Drive to get here, so you may have to pay the $10 fee. We sat inside and it was lovely, but they also have outdoor patio seating around fire pits. We ordered the falafel panzanella and roasted beets to start and both were fantastic. For my main I got the Calibrian chili shrimp, and my boyfriend ordered the tagliatelle Bolognese. We both enjoyed them! We also got their famed strawberry cobbler dessert which was TO DIE FOR and the caramel Budino. Everything was delicious!! Excellent service, as well. I really enjoyed this place. The bread balloon was excellent. It was a Puffy circle of pizza dough that we dipped in a yogurt sauce and hummus. Then I had mussels while my husband had a BLT salad. The Bench at Pebble Beach is the last place you'd find something like me. Why exactly? Probably because of my Levi Jeans and Target t-shirts. But regardless, there I was. On the 18th hole at one of the most world-renowned golf resorts in the world. If you ask me about my golf game, you will get a hundred small chuckles from me. If you want to see the World's Most Uncoordinated Person, I make most of my money on tips. There is no view like the patio of the Bench. The view of the greens and the misty air and overcasted skies. At nightfall a few bats arrived and teetered above us while we ate, which sounds scary, but I promise you it's not. The pizza, delicious. The shishito peppers, incredible. If you find yourself in the area, and lucky enough to be at Pebble Beach, spend some time here. Even if you aren't a golfer like me, you can find yourself enjoying being on the course for once. Especially when your tongue is getting numbed. read more
