During the COVID-19 era, stylists are requiring appointments, a waiver form, and a text message or phone call before your appointment so they can greet you at the door. I followed Margie from Jae Valentine Hair Studio (also in Downey) because she does such a nice job. Prices for long, thick hair for wash, cut, and style are currently $70 (as of 6/16/20). Yes, a little steep, but you get what you pay for. Clean, stylish salon in which - from what I can tell - stylists rent their own rooms. TIPS - contactless payment such as Venmo is available - wear a mask that attaches behind your ears as you will be wearing it for the duration of your appointment

She has always been a very fun caring lovable and straight forward woman. Let me start off by saying that when I came to her I came with 3 hair colors and she fixed my beautiful blonde hair and I remained blonde for those 3 years and my hair was full and healthy due to her and her products.. I've been so loyal to my hair stylist because she's very honest when it comes to your hair and she will tell you exactly what she can do and can not do to your hair in regards to not damage it. And if you come with very bad hair or someone messed it up Bely is the one to help you out and make you feel yourself always and feel beautiful These hateful comments she has on her Yelp account to me that says they don't know her and the real woman she is AGAIN because no matter what of the hate or envious people her salon still packed and her agenda is still full thank god I'm glad and happy to see her succeed knowing the fact she started from home and now she has her salon running with lots of work. Anyways here are some of the content I have of the 3 years I have been with her and all the changes she has done in my hair and how healthy it has looked

They were trying to charge me $450 and she kept insisting on the work she'd do. When I asked for something simpler she still said it would be $300. I have gone to places where it's not as expensive. The vibe from this place is that they try to up charge you and add things you don't want. I ended up finding a place that can do it for $80 and she had the audacity to say "goodluck finding someone cheaper", and I think her goodluck backfired on her, because I did.

But I had to move and it was just to hard to get to her. So when I moved to Paramount I talked to a few different salons and found one right up the street and he sounded like he knew what he was doing (Big Mistake). Before I could even answer his question which was how would you like it done, he had stared cutting 1 1/2 inches off and then he made a statement to me this is how I like to do old ladies hair. I was frozen in the chair hoping there was away he can turn it around. I walked out of there so embarrassed. When my grandaughter walked in to pick me up she gave me a look as if to say. What did you do to my grandma I was so shocked she didn't I think she knew that would of made me feel worse But then I talked to Isabelle and I'm so glad I did. I was so afraid to go to another unknown stylist but the minute I sat in her chair I was at ease. The gray in my hair had grown out so badly I was nervous it couldn't be covered up but she did it with also a great color choice. She was so sincere after the color was done and she finally was able to take a good look at the cut she kindly said Geri there's nothing we can do about the cut until it grows out. She could of simply said oh I can fix it don't worry you'll look beautiful when I'm done and charge me more but that's not the woman she is though. The time you spend with her while in the chair isn't awkward at all So Monday I'm going to call to see if I can get in next Tuesday to cover the grays and a cut I hope it's grown out to be able to start the process of a great hair cut again. She also brought me home so I didn't have to pay for a taxi. Someone's character is so important in life. Thank you I'll see you soon.

She finally answered and gave me a morning appointment. When I got to the place, I hesitated to get out because the salon didn't look anything like the publicity they had on Facebook. It was a totally different place. The lady was lying down on one of the couches, on her phone, but I decided to try it because I really wanted to cut my hair. I got out, and she asked me to sit down. She started cutting my hair. At first, I thought it looked good, but when I took a shower the next day, I noticed that one side was longer than the other, so I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. She messed up my hair, and now it's even shorter than it was before. I don't recommend this place for two reasons: 1. They falsely advertised the location, and 2. The lady who did my hair was just terrible. She talked about her personal life, which I don't really care about. I just wanted a nice haircut, and she messed it up.

I had a very disappointing experience at this salon, and unfortunately, I will not be returning…read more Before my appointment, I called the salon and specifically explained that I had five boxes of tape-in hair extensions. I asked how much it would cost to have them installed, and I was given a price. When I arrived, however, I was told that the extensions were not considered "bundles" and that I would therefore be charged significantly more for the installation. I asked what she meant by "bundles," because I understood a bundle to mean the amount of hair contained in a package/box. I explained that I had approximately 100 grams of hair. Despite the change in price, I decided to stay and proceed with the appointment. Before starting, I also asked whether the amount of hair I had would be enough for my entire head. I was told that it would be. Once the installation began, it became clear that I did not have enough hair. I was then told that I would need to purchase additional hair and pay an additional installation fee. At that point, the total cost was going beyond my budget, so I decided that I could no longer continue with the service. Since the service was not completed, I was very surprised to be told that I would still have to pay a $175 cancellation fee. I understand that stylists need to be compensated for their time, but in my situation, I feel the experience was unfair because the original quote had changed after I arrived, I was initially told that I had enough hair, and then I was informed that I needed to spend significantly more money to complete the service. I also felt uncomfortable because pictures were taken of me without my permission. I didn't say anything at the time because I was already frustrated and simply wanted the focus to remain on my hair, but afterward I realized how uncomfortable that made me feel. To make matters worse, the tape extensions that had already been installed were very visible around the crown of my head, which I was not happy with at all. I understand that pricing can depend on the amount of hair and the work involved, and I respect that hairstylists deserve to be paid fairly for their work. However, I believe these details should have been clearly explained before the appointment, especially since I specifically called beforehand to discuss my hair and the expected cost. Overall, I left feeling very disappointed and frustrated with the experience. I regret not walking away when the price changed upon arrival, and unfortunately, this is not a salon I will be returning to.
