The food was cold and greasy, and the service was worse. I was told that it wad not the employee's fault that the menu was not correct and that I did not get what I ordered -the implication seemed to be that I was at fault for ordering in the first place. I will not be returning, and I advise all other potential customers to take their business to one of the many other establishment in the area - somewhere that am8ght ctually care about their customers and that does not serve them crap and then blame them for the poor quality of the product that they had the misfortune to pay for. read more

When I go back to a place the very next day - I know I really liked it. I'll get to the coffee - but lets talk about the actual place. It used to be a house. Well, I guess it STILL is a house, but now it's been converted into a business. There's a couple of different rooms and I love that one day I worked out of the bedroom - the next from the living room. Head down the hall, and peek your head into the various rooms, you might meet some cool folks - or find an empty spot to plop down. The first day I shared a room with video game programmers planning their game, two gal pals gossipping and a student. The next day another student - and what I figure is a writer or poet, feverishly scribbling down words on paper and then reading them back to himself. Awesome mix of folks - all young, hip and mainly creative types. Now - the staff. I had the same lovely young lady take care of me both days. She remembered my face - and even remembered I liked half whole half skim milk! SUPER NICE and she might be a manager - totally forgot her name...and I'm usually FAIRLY good with names. I had the Sneaky B - a frozen, whipped, sweet concoction that was amazing! The second day it was a lot colder so I opted for a Marble Espresso - white chocolate, dark chocolate, espresso! Delicious and gave me the perfect afternoon pick me up! All around I can't say enough great things about this place. Come crack a laptop open - or a book - or bring a friend to chat - or interview someone - or whatever. And that's not to underestimate how SOLID the coffee is. It was exceptional! read more

Super tasty! Enjoyed a dirty chai iced, a matcha mint chip frappe, and a chai frappe. They have sandwiches and pastries too, but we were too full this time. The drinks were great, and the lactose challenged person greatly appreciated the almond milk option. Staff was also super helpful and patient- important when you are trying out a new coffee spot. The outside seating and available dog bowl were nice additions. Will definitely be back! read more

No frills, high on make-yourself-at-home. Wi-Fi is reliable. Furniture is from the rescue shelter, and the art is college-hip. Coffee is good, not great: cold-brewed is a little watery for my tastes. But there are few better places to meet people to talk (there are rooms that you can camp in), or to read or to work on your novel or whatever. It's quiet and the music choice isn't offensively cloying. Could do with a seminar on the perfect brew, but otherwise the best home office in the Fondren area, and perfect for late night study groups. Edited to add: last time I went, Music was a problem. It was LOUD, in every room. A hundred bucks at Radio Shack and they could put volume control in every room so they can take advantage of the great spaces. We love the bean! It's been one of our favorite spots lately. Great place for an evening cocktail that isn't your typical loud bar. The atmosphere is chill and relaxed. They also offer a great selection of little snacks to go with your drinks. When they have live music too that's always fun. I don't do review often so listen up: This place is rocking. I've been coming here for several years and I would say it's the best all around coffee shop in Jackson / Jackson metro area. The new ownership has transformed this place into a really nice establishment and should be very proud of the business they run. Coffee is really good but I would say the consistency between baristas is not as good as it should be. The food here is noteworthy: pastry counter is phenomenal. Regular entrees are just fantastic. Employees are very kind here and it is a good atmosphere. The decor is very impressive and clean. And all this remains true whilst operating in Jackson city limits. This is definitely a hangout for the pals and pups! The menu is filled with options and variations. I had the butterbeer latte (to satisfy my HP love) my first go around, then the monkey mocha. Both of these drinks are AMAZING! I want to make note of the slices of banana in the monkey mocha, definitely a surprise but yummy! The service is friendly and quick, and there was only one barista! The price is average for a typical cup of goodness. The shop is inside an old home, so the sitting space is split into rooms that are great to explore. There are couches and stools and comfy chairs, then there's the patio/porch area! The bathroom is a bit of a "pass" for me, but I didn't come for the bathroom. If you have allergies or an issue with dog hair choose your seat wisely, as the pups are allowed to lounge on the couches and chairs with their pals. There are dog treats and water bowls available for the puppies and they enjoy people watching just like the best of us. Parking is on the street, but I didn't have any issues finding a spot. If by chance you have to park a little further down the strip, the walk is still enjoyable because of all the little shops along the way. read more

The iced cold brew is really good. The avocado toast is a little bit much. I wasn't expecting there to be thaaat much balsamic on the toast, kinda overwhelmed it. Not a ton of avocado on there either. Otherwise it was good. I would not come here if I wanted a quick coffee and breakfast because nothing about this place is quick. Definitely a Jackson gem. This place fits right in with Fondren and is an exceptional location to enjoy coffee, get some studying done, or just hang out. The porch area is great, although I strongly dislike that customers and workers are able to smoke on the porch. And there's usually some cigarette butts lying around. The inside is quite large, which one might not expect looking at it from the street. There is ample room inside for both large and small groups. There's a great atmosphere inside and out. The coffee is superb. I usually opt for the lattes, which are not as sweet as some other places (unless you ask for it to be). I like that you can actually taste espresso and not just sugar and cream. The carawhite and peppermint bark are two of my favorites. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Overall, excellent place but 4/5 due to cigarette butts on the porch and the fact they are passing out free lung cancer to their customers whether you want it or not.. read more

Sneaky beans is a great place in Fondren to hideout and have a up of coffee while planning your bedroom style on Pinterest. That's what I do at least. The baristas are helpful and very good at their job. They offer coffee, beer, and snacks but I've only had the coffee. There are a couple different rooms to sit in which is nice. Also outdoor seating for the nice days. What makes sneaky beans special is during events like Fondren's First Thirsday they have performances on their porch so it's a cool place to grab a beer in the afternoon as well. read more

This place is in an old house, and as such there are different rooms to hang out or study in. I've been here twice now, once to grab a beer and leave to walk around downtown and the other time to study. Today I had the iced chai (pretty good, a bit milky) and a bagel (nothing fancy, tastes like one you make at home). The staff are very friendly. There's light, alternative, chill music playing in the front room but not in the back rooms. You can hear it still but it's not disturbing. It's quite nice as background music actually. The tables to study on are a bit small if you're going to sit with a friend. The place though is funky and chill. Hipsters love it. There's a little patio out front... usually with some hippies on it playing their guitar. Overall, a nice place to study. Good luck on your exam! read more

All college students gather- this is one for f the best spots for a study date or meet up with friends. The quirky coffee shop is in the heart of Fondren right next to Walkers. It's customers are the friendly people in the neighborhood. The coffee is always hot and fresh and you'll often run into familiar faces on your quick coffee grab. Their are functional study rooms for a bit of privacy during those extensive exams or when you decide to work remotely their are many nooks to set up shop. The tea selection is pretty great as well. The keep the coffee and teas pretty basic so you don't have to have a vast vocabulary of terms to memorize before ordering a simple dark roast. read more

Friendly, young and not so young crowd doing homework, writing reports, surfing the net, talking and arguing and laughing. Bulletin boards of local events. This coffee shop has given Cups a run for its money. I stopped going to Cups in Fondren a while back because of all of the moping teenagers smoking cigarettes and complaining loudly about any and everything. Sneaky Bean (in my opinion) is for an older, more mature crowd. I love that there is art for sale on the walls and all the little nooks where you can just get lost in your coffee and good book/paper. The before mentioned pluses in other reviews: they sell beer, and its good beer; and the occassional live music. I would add that they sell breakfast and lunch that is actually made, not just nuked. Its hit or miss, but usually people aren't coming to a coffee shop to get a meal anyway. Another bonus? This coffee shop has a porch. And who doesn't love a good porch? read more

When friends come through Jackson, I always try and bring them to Sneaky Beans to hangout. Whether it's a morning coffee, midday smoothie or an afternoon beer, Sneaky Beans is the perfect place to chill with a couple friends. During the day, the atmosphere is quiet and productive. The shop is divided into several, separate rooms, each with sofas, tables and chairs to choose from. It's well lit with plenty of outlets and surfaces, which makes working or studying here a breeze. The coffee is excellent. We Jacksonians take our local coffee pretty seriously, and Sneaky Beans offers some of the best unique coffee flavors in town. They're always switching up their roasts and offering a great variety. They don't usually sell "real" food, but they always have delicious muffins and pastries as well as some really great energy bars. In the afternoons, the Sneaky Beans front porch is easily one of the best places to sit in the city. Grab a couple friends and a couple of craft beers from inside, sit back and relax. Nestled in the heart of Fondren, you can people watch to your heart's content before grabbing dinner at some of the neighborhood's best restaurants, all within walking distance. read more

If you want baked goods though, you could walk across the street to campbell's bakery. I think they should actually be in cahoots with them, campbell's is so close and has the best cheapest baked goods. Really cute, couches in back if you don't feel like studying at a table. also has music on some nights. If I lived in Jackson, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't come here often since the lattes are watered down then overly sweetened. The cakes...well, just don't bother trying them unless you are a non-diabetic and still plan on injecting yourself with some insulin. The girl behind the counter swore by their desserts, and I'm regretting my decision on that. Pure sugar and no flavor. I'm still giving it a three though, it isn't a bad place to study and it has charm. If you find a space in one of the quieter rooms, it can be a great place to relax. Great place to grab a coffee, beer and meet people! Sneaky Beans is an old house right in the middle everything in Fondren. There are few rooms, so it is easy to find a quiet place for yourself, or to hang out with friends. The front porch is great - since you're in the middle of everything, it is great to sit out, enjoy the weather and people watch or socialize. A warm coffee on a cool day or a cold beer on a warm day - the front porch is a key feature of Sneaky Beans. They often host a musical on the front porch, which can make a lovely (if crowded!) evening. The coffee is fine, I may not be a great judge of that. Their food selection is lacking, but it kind of exists. They do carry a good range of beers priced very reasonably. The service is always great though. This is definitely one of the most social coffee shops I have been to, while at the same time, it is still excellent for buckling down and getting some overcaffeinated studying done. This is a must visit place if you're looking for something to do in Jackson! The coffee is great, but they also offer smoothies, teas, and a variety of bottled bears. With such a cozy atmosphere, this is a great place to get a drink and sit down to read a good book. If you look behind the front door you'll see tons of posters advertising anything from marathons to local shows. The decor features many pieces from local artists that are often for sale, and Sneaky beans also has a small selection of CDs and vinyls for sale from local bands as well. Very good cafe au lait, friendly baristo, and decent environment. By virtue of the neighborhood (Fondren) this place seems to be frequented by hipster types of which I distinctly am NOT. Even so, service was friendly and prompt, and it was not busy the cold January night we came by to kill some time before a show at nearby Duling Hall. Coffee prices were affordable. This place obviously tries to be involved in the local community and support the arts which is totally cool. The bathroom was kind of not great - it was extremely tiny, and the door locked with an old-fashioned latch-into-an-eyelet thing, but it was functional enough. Bottom-line: I would definitely swing back by if I visited Duling Hall/Fondren again. And if I come back to Jackson, I'm sure I'll be visiting the Fondren - it's happening. Oh yeah, it's probably not "the" Fondren, but that sounds cooler to me, so there, I said it. read more
