The main area of our room. What an entrance!

Holy moly I'm in heaven. This is an amazing gem in the South Shore. Please do yourself a favor and indulge in a night or weekend here. If your in-laws are coming, have them stay at your house and you can escape here. The spaces here are divine. The personal touches give a feel of being a welcomed guest in a beautiful home instead of stuffed in a standard hotel room. We were lucky to have what appeared to be a master suite. I wouldn't mind living here in this space permanently. The bathroom was gorgeously adorned with personal touches and Devine decorating. Absolutely indulge in a relaxing bath in the jacuzzi tub, with provided bath salts! The living space was spacious and again met personal riches to make me never want to stay anywhere else on the south shore ever again. Had the pleasure of meeting the on-site owner / manager in the morning. She is lovely to talk to. Perfect for a romantic weekend, trip with or without kids, an escape for a mom/dad who maybe wants to lounge all day in and out of bed. I assure you, you won't want to leave.

Great experience. Went for just a night, but had a wonderful time. We got the Atlantic room which has a great view. The room was amazing. Very spacious, but cozy with a gas logs fireplace. We got in touch with the service desk a few times and they were very helpful. There's also a few places that deliver, even in March.

The B&B is just large enough for about three couples: with three rooms and three parking spaces. Each room is on a different floor of the three story house, so you feel as though you have a quiet area all to yourself, but still get to meet interesting people and socialize with the proprietor at breakfast. The room we stayed in (M&M) was very homey, clean, and comfortable. It was quiet at night despite being off a busy street. I can't say enough good things about Josephine's: it was an easy location to find, right near the beach/bay and wonderful hiking at World's End. One of the only minor things was that mini shampoos were not provided (only aromatherapy body scrub), not that I expected any, so that doesn't take away any stars in my mind. Highly recommend!

They were warm and welcoming, and the food was outstanding--most especially the raspberry French toast! Our spacious room was on the top floor, off the B&B's common area. Josephine's is extremely clean, comfortable, and charming, decorated with antiques, old family photos, rocking chairs, desks, and an abundance of books. It's in a scenic area with easy access to the ferry (if you're headed to Boston or the airport) and other pretty areas to explore. Annmarie generously shared recommendations of her favorite restaurants, printed out directions for our destinations, and was also eager to investigate special areas of interest to us. We look forward to returning!

All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and I wanted to make note of that considering the other reviews really shocked me! You can also text the front desk with questions which is great for those of you with social anxiety haha. Another positive- This is the first hotel I've stayed at in a long time where the air conditioner actually blew cold all night long! I deducted a star for accouple reasons. The shower was visibly not clean, and had black mold in the cracks and crevices. And the late checkout (of an hour and 30 minutes extra) cost HALF of the already pretty steep room cost for one night. Otherwise we had a great experience here and for the views from the balcony/room alone I'd love to come back for a relaxing weekender!

A true, traditional, historic B and B can't be beat, and that is what Timber Post is! She dealt with my questions very helpfully over the phone before arriving, and then the moment I arrived. Vivian has every little beautiful or welcoming detail covered, and the place is immaculately clean. There are intriguing antiques and pictures everywhere to add to the ambiance. The breakfast is sumptuous, but despite all that work, she was kind enough to make me something I preferred. I stayed two nights, at the start and end of my road trip, in two different parts of her lodgings. Both were lovely. It's quiet, for a light sleeper like me, and also important for a woman traveling alone, I felt safe. Vivian even has done the genealogy on the Inn from its early years, and discovered she's descended from the some of the original owners! She said how the community there has been so kind to her. Now that's real sense of place. I highly recommend Timber Post for a true New England Bed and Breakfast experience, in rural Hollis. A delight.

Note: I deleted and reposted this, bc her response illegally posted some personally identifiable information. The response also showed the inability to internalize feedback, and misguided perspective on that feedback. Example: We SHOWED her the booking.com website where it clearly stated private bathroom in multiple places. I've added the photo to show that it said private bathroom, and yet she's insisting that it does not show this. This is how delusional she is.

The entire walk was full of little shops and galleries-- no hardship to wander past those again and again. Breakfasts were spectacular-- multi course affairs with fantastic coffee and amazing locally pressed juice. Fresh baked scones and gorgeous fruit tarts and shakshukas. All delicious. The entire experience was just beautiful. It sounds a little cliché, but it really did feel more like being invited to stay with your eclectic aunt than it did like a hotel stay. Just wonderful.

The house itself is a 300-year-old farmhouse that has been owned by only 5 families throughout its history. Most of the original structure remains today, giving the place an authentic rustic feel -- not kitchy, like so many other bed & breakfasts. The hostess is cheerful and charming, and more than happy to give you a tour of the grounds (including a tunnel in the basement that was part of the underground railroad!). For us, she made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies fresh upon arrival. We stayed in the Carriage House, which really is a bargain for the space. The two-story suite includes a fireplace, kitchenette, television, desk, couch, armchair, and small table with two chairs. This is in addition to an outdoor porch attached to the unit, and the beautiful upstairs bedroom (with air conditioning). Off of Route 2A on Lexington Road in the heart of Minutemen country, I arrived at the Hawthorne Inn, my favorite bed and breakfast in Concord, Massachusetts. The owner of the inn, Marilyn, greeted me at the entrance and showed me to my room. The inn is furnished with furniture, art, and artifacts that are representative of colonial New England of the 19th Century with other kinds of art, such as Japanese ukiyo-e prints, Haitian voodoo masks, and 17th Century Persian helmets, scattered about here and there. Walking into my room, I noticed a cat on the 4 poster bed in my room. She was friendly and didn't seem to mind me hanging out with her. http://static.px.yelp.com/photo/gsDWbndD_Nix9s_MOTuYYQ/l The room had teal wallpaper, lots of folk art, a love seat near the roll away desk, and a rattan reading chair by the bed. It was very comfortable, very cozy. I hung out in my room with the cat for a while before going out to downtown Concord for dinner. After dinner I sat in the sitting room downstairs where the fireplace was blazing and I met some of the other guests in the inn. We talked some more in the morning when we ate breakfast in the communal dining room together. Breakfast included your choice of coffee, tea, muffins and other baked goods, a seasonal fruit plate, yogurt, or granola. Rooms at the inn range from $125 - $325 per night depending on the season. After breakfast, I went into downtown Concord to look for an essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance, which I found in a book in my room. In the essay Emerson emphasizes the importance of avoiding conformity and trusting in our own ideas and instincts: "Trust thyself, every heart vibrates to that iron string...." This spirit of individuality and the belief that there is no problem that we can't handle if we apply ourselves to the solution is what attracts me to New England, to Concord, to the Hawthorne Inn. There's a sense of history there where our country was essentially founded, a creative energy burns there also where so many creative thinkers and writers lived. Walden Pond, the Minutemen Park, the old North Bridge where the "first shot heard round the world" was fired are all in Concord. It's worth visiting to remember that "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles."
