I've stayed at Nantasket Beach Resort at least twice a year for the past 15 years, and it has…read morebecome one of my favorite places to relax. My experience has been consistently positive, which is why I wanted to provide some balance after reading a few reviews that I don't believe reflect the overall experience. The biggest draw is, of course, the location. The oceanfront rooms are wonderful, and waking up to the sound and view of the Atlantic never gets old. I was especially happy to see that there is now an excellent restaurant on the first floor (independently owned, not operated by the resort). It's a great addition for dinner. I also highly recommend The Parrot for lunch or dinner and The Saltwater Diner for breakfast. We've returned to both many times and have never been disappointed. Hull itself isn't a destination with endless attractions, but that's exactly why I go. If you're looking for a peaceful beach getaway, it's perfect. If you're traveling with children under about 10 years old for several days, however, they may run out of things to do beyond the beach. My grandchildren love swimming, but after a few hours they're ready for other activities, so we will wait until they're older before bringing them for an overnight stay. Over the years, I've never had problems with the front desk, the cleanliness of the rooms, or parking. On one visit, our air conditioning stopped working, but maintenance repaired it the very same day. The staff also immediately offered to move us to another room if we preferred not to wait, which I thought was excellent customer service. I've noticed some complaints about parking. The covered parking is reserved for condominium owners, and it's clearly marked as such. Resort guests use the designated outdoor parking area. In all my years of visiting, I've always found a parking space without difficulty. I've also seen just a few complaints about the indoor pool. Personally, I can't imagine choosing an indoor pool when one of New England's most beautiful beaches is just steps away. The beach and ocean are the reasons we come. After 15 years of annual visits, I continue to recommend Nantasket Beach Resort without hesitation. For anyone looking for a relaxing oceanfront getaway with comfortable accommodations and friendly service, it has been a wonderful choice for us year after year.

All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and I wanted to make note of that considering the other reviews really shocked me! You can also text the front desk with questions which is great for those of you with social anxiety haha. Another positive- This is the first hotel I've stayed at in a long time where the air conditioner actually blew cold all night long! I deducted a star for accouple reasons. The shower was visibly not clean, and had black mold in the cracks and crevices. And the late checkout (of an hour and 30 minutes extra) cost HALF of the already pretty steep room cost for one night. Otherwise we had a great experience here and for the views from the balcony/room alone I'd love to come back for a relaxing weekender!

A relaxing getaway in the South Boston…read more After a trip to Montreal and NYC, we were seeking a little solitude from our typical trip to Boston. In most cases, we would stay in the heart of the city. This is a great side trip outside of summer, when the rates are great and you don't want to go as far out as Cape Cod. This trip took us from plane to city, from train to boat, from taxi to city and from car to village. In Hull, we were 30 minutes or less from everything we needed to access; Plymouth (the rock), Milton (the grand babes) and the towns of Cohasset and Hingham (for coffee, food, and shopping). The owner of the Beacon Luxury Waterfront Inn greeted us, as we arrived before dark, with easy upfront parking. Into the Atlantic suite, with water views (and although fall, the weather was temperate, not hot, but not too cold yet). We selected this room, as it was on the corner with water views. The suite itself was huge with a private bath, jacuzzi tub, fireplace and I must admit they were both used nightly to not only to slow down from all the traveling but also after sightseeing, outings and spending time with family. Each morning a simple continental breakfast is served. This is probably the thing we liked the least, but we knew what to expect. We prefer a bed and breakfast with a full breakfast, but we did enjoy our room and slept comfortably with the amenities available. If anything, not being food focused got us going earlier in the morning for a new adventure. I highly recommend stepping outside the city sometime and exploring the smaller places. This is what makes New England so charming. #OutsideBoston #Hull #TheBeaconLuxuryWaterfrontInn #NewEngland

The hotel is located right off the side of the road, and is around 2 other hotels and a small shopping area/strip mall across the street (that includes a well stocked liquor/beer store). Check in was a breeze. The front desk clear was super helpful, and have us plenty of options for room choices on the first and second floors. She also set us up with express checkout. The hotel lobby is small (a sofa and a few arm chairs) and the breakfast buffet area is right behind it. It's a little dated, but very clean. Our room was on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. The king bed room was very spacious, with a desk, mini fridge, microwave, dresser, and TV, as well as two large night stands, an arm chair, and an ottoman. The bathroom was nice as well, although the shower head was low for my 6'1" body. The room was super clean, and the housekeepers did a great job the next day. Breakfast was solid: pastries, bread, bagels, eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, fruit cups, coffee, juice, and a waffle maker where you can make fresh waffles. The attendants both days kept the buffet clean and well stocked and on a Saturday and Sunday, only a handful of people were there, so it never felt crowded. The only downside (and they are minor) is that the only ice machine is on the first floor, and the lack of elevator. The staff were always super nice and helpful.. Next time I'm in the area, I'll come back.

There were 3 mice traps alone in my room. I walked in and found an open cxndom wrapper behind the bed. Mold in the bathroom. The sink is falling apart and the wood is rotten. Dunkin' is right nearby for coffee runs, and Lucca--a great spot for dinner--is just a short walk away. * Quiet Stay: The hotel and surrounding area were calm and peaceful. Great for getting rest. * Room: Not the most modern decor, but clean, well-maintained, and the bed was comfortable. * Amenities: There's a restaurant and full bar on the second floor, which is a nice bonus if you don't feel like heading out. Cons: * Only one working elevator while I was there. In the mornings, it got jammed up with cleaning and service staff, so you could be waiting 5-10 minutes just to go down. Frustrating, especially if you're trying to get out the door quickly. Fix the elevator situation and it's a 5-star stay. Solid pick overall.

I once stayed at a Motel 6 where the bed felt like it was made of cardboard with a duvet on top. At…read morethe price point of a motel, some things are forgivable. When we come to a four-star hotel, my standard become a higher. Something I cannot corroborate is issues with cleanliness. I brought a blacklight, and nothing stood out. The only thing I noticed was some water spots on the bathroom sink, which is a non-issue. What I can get behind is the age of the rooms. The furniture had more than its fair share of dings and other signs of aging (such as the poor nightstand in the photo I attached). As for the mattress, it was notably springy, not necessarily uncomfortable, but either of a lower quality, or very old. Speaking of bedding: The blanket was a european style of a blanket/comforter that inserts into the top sheet (not a big deal, just strange). What is a bigger deal is the lack of a fitted sheet. While tucked in, this is suboptimal for someone who tosses and turns like a rotisserie chicken (such as myself). Before I forget - the chair that comes with the desk was unexpectedly uncomfortable. I've sat in better metal and wood chairs than this nonsense - and it is supposedly cushioned! Finally, the room I was in was noted as accessible, though not requested as such. However, some things did not seem well adapted to a person with disabilities. The shower has a step as opposed to being roll in, there is a grab bar in the shower, but no such bars around the toilet. The only things I was able to notice is a doorbell connecting to a siren/strobe (which can thankfully be turned off via a lightswitch to prevent 3am pranks), the shower bar, and lowered shower controls (though not toiletries, it seems?). If you are in need of an accessible room - proceed with caution. Finally, there is the brunch. This was pretty basic with some pastries, porridge, breakfast meats, fruit, and scrambled egg product (I doubt it is real egg). The quality was not great, but the price tag was somewhere just under $20. I think the brunch is emblematic of the whole experience. That being: it was acceptable, but at this price point and caliber, it needs to be better than just acceptable. The only really good thing is that there was a hook outside the shower to grab a towel right as one leaves.

If the Marriott is going to host weddings and other events, they should designate sections of the hotel for event people to stay in so that regular guests don't have to hear loud talking, shouting, loud music, kids running through the halls, doors opening and slamming at 1:00 in the morning, etc. I've stayed in other hotels that were hosting weddings, but the hotel management in those places knew how to organize space to make wedding attendees and regular guests both comfortable. Not this Marriott, sadly. And I am a Marriott Bonvoy member. FYI, no lobby coffee. Starbucks opens at 6. Early morning in the lobby there is rather loud piped in music, so I tried to go outside for peace and quiet -- wrong -- the patio was blocked off for somebody's special wedding event, at 6:30 in the morning already. There is no other outdoor seating. Also, there is no microwave in the room, which is a normal amenity for even lower priced hotels. Water $5 in the lobby market. There is a mini fridge in the room. Staff is nice and professional. But I wouldn't stay here again unless I was assured there were no private events being hosted.

I went over the room and bathroom with a blacklight, and things were pretty much spotless. As someone who cleans his own house using one, this is difficult. Absolutely no complaints, and they met my high expectations (I mean, how many guests examine the foot of the toilet using a blacklight?! The Room - The room was notably small. There was very little space on either side of the bed. I seem to recall a desk, so it's not like a pod hotel, but still cramped. As I was one person staying one night, it wasn't a big deal, but thought it was worth mentioning. Speaking of me being one person: Desk Staff: The person when I was checking in Thursday night was not welcoming at all. I walk in, and he growls "Reservation?" I say "yes", followed by a "good evening, by the way" a few second after. During the check in process it was repeated ad nauseum that I am not allowed to have any guests in the room who are not on the reservation, even after I specifically stated it would just be me. Clearly, they've been burned on this in the past, but that is no excuse to treat me as if I brought an extra person after being told not to. The person working the next morning was much kinder, friendlier, and more welcoming. Moving on... Bedding - The mattress and sheets were pretty average. Just fine for an Inn, and I had no issues with either. Bathroom - The only complaints I have is that the soap was a cheaper variety (common in places like this and even nicer), and the lighting above the vanity was harsh. Otherwise, the hot water was plenty hot, and the water pressure respectable. While it appeared more like the set up one would have at home, for an Inn, I have no complaints. Breakfast - Surprisingly, it was on par (if not slightly better) to what I had in the DoubleTree in Rockland, and Doubletree charges almost $20 for theirs, while this one was free. It was some pastries, pancakes, sausage patties, and some egg, IIRC. Thus, an experience that exceeded my expectations, and would have resulted in a five-star rating if not for a staffer who would seemingly make people swear on a religious book of their choosing that they're categorically not going to bring any guests into the rooms.
