We ordered a Goulash soup and potato soup: only the potato soup was good. The roulade was okay Their Schnitzel was good but the sauce was extremely salty. The potato salad was great but not authentic. Their red cabbage was okay. Their black Forrest cake was terrible. But I was soooo hungry so, I ate it. The place was gross and stinky. My clothes were smelling like mold when I left. The place is dirty and kind of sad. I guess is good that they are closing soon. Maybe that's why they don't care about their appearance and bringing back new customers. There were two ladies, their customer service was meh. They force 20% tip and later ask again for tip. Shameless. A lot of elderly people go there, they may not realize and tip twice. Yikes. read more

This is a wonderful German restaurant, the ambiance is beautiful on the inside with the pictures and decor and the server who was very attentive and cook who we got to meet are very nice people. HORRIBLE SERVICE , HORRIBLE FOOD,OVERPRICED. Most of the food was microwaved (you could hear it) the pretzel was horrible you can get better at a gas station, and the "pretzel sandwich " is a tiny junior pretzel roll with some spam and thats it no sides for $14.00 THEY CHARGE A 20% gratuity and they charge for mustard "thats included in the plate on the menu" sounded like the owner or manager was arguing with someone in the kitchen over their finances well i do hope they close that sh*thole read more

My family comes here often and we enjoy it every time. I looooove the kartoffelsalat and often get extra to take home with me (we drive an hour to get here and eat). Their red cabbage is also fantastic as well. We are never disappointed and Mt Dora is always so picturesque too which is lovely. read more

We have been to this restaurant before and wanted to go back because my wife got her first Radler (Shandy) there and loved it! She was able to get another one and all the food we got was delicious. It is a very cute little restaurant with dining in and outside. Our waitress La was excellent. She couldn't have been any more helpful. Forgot to take pics of food! I've been to Hollerbachs in Sanford so many times. This food was outstanding compared to Hollerbachs, which I love too. To start the goulash soup had nice taste but very difficult to find any meat in that soup. First disappointment. Potato pancake had no taste, no onion or any seasonings in them, second appointment. We had the sauerbraten for dinner, very tender but again lacking tastes that you expect when ordering this meal. No ginger snaps and seasoning again. We ate at the Bavarian Haus last night. The restaurant had the typical German flair to indicate the gemütlichkeit. We arrived the around 6:15 and the waitress said she had two large parties of 6 and that our food would be about 45 minutes. We said ok, but wondered what she was talking about because the place was 1/2 empty. She hurriedly served our beers and rushed us into selected our meals. I ordered the leberkäse with mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the pork Schnitzel . The waitress was not very friendly. The dinners were terrific. By 7:00 while eating our meal we saw her turn away at lease 6 parties of 4 and more by telling them the same thing she told us: big parties to serve and their wait would be 45 minutes to get their food! What was really shocking was by 7:30 she told the people they were closed! We looked on the website which states 9pm. We challenged her on that and she said they haven't closed at 9pm in a long time. One guy asked if he could at least get 2 glasses of wine to go. She did that. Then she turned downed 4 people who wanted to have 4 strudels to go and she said no they ran out! I said, "wow ours was delicious"! She then told them "ok, I'll get those for you"! She also encouraged people cash only which was disturbing. I would give this restaurant a 4 for authenticity but wow very questionable business practices... Strolling through the little hills of Mount Dora, we stopped by this place for a nice pint. We ordered the original German lager and it came cold and crisp. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Came here this past Friday at lunch time. They had just opened. Place is cute. Seated immediately and ordered our drinks and food. Beer came out quickly but the food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive... & when it did it appeared the dreaded bidenomics had hit this restaurant. The chicken schnitzel was literally paper thin and all beading no meat. The potato salad was ok. I don't know if our visit was at a bad time or not but we won't be back here. Stopped in before a show at the Mt. Dora Music Hall. While it's great to see more German restaurants in Central Florida, this one was disappointing to me. Admittedly, me and my friends only had a beer and a snack rather than a full meal, so perhaps I am being narrow minded. But, the pretzel we ordered was pretty soft and did not have the heartiness of those served at other places. ***DO NOT COME HERE*** Please save yourself the embarrassment of having to pay for this "food". I'm not sure what these other reviews are talking about. This place was disgusting and extremely rude. Party of 2, we were seated quick. We ordered the bratwurst with french fries, sauerkraut, and, undoubtedly the most disgusting thing I've ever been served, the German pasta (I believe they called it Spatzle). The chef kept coming out of the kitchen, walking around aimlessly and murmuring random words like "he's gonna get ya" and "that's a nice one". He was talking to himself. Very much reminiscent of someone on drugs. Our table was right across from the kitchen door, which proudly showcased a microwave right in front of the door, actively heating up food. As someone who eats German cuisine frequently, this food was inedible. Obviously microwaved as the plate was piping hot. The sausage was dry, rubbery, and the meat inside was separated from the sausage casing. Felt like cutting into an old sock with playdoh inside. Also, sauerkraut that comes from a jar of Heinz does not make it "German". There is no amount of words in the English language that can describe how horrid and gross the German pasta was (the spatzle). It tasted like puss, but flavorless. It looked like puss. Or maybe a ripped up mattress padding. It was absolutely disgusting. I wish I had taken a photo, you wouldn't even believe how revolting it looked. Our waitress comes back and asks how everything is. I tell her, politely, that this food was really not for us, and difficult to eat, and that the pasta was inedible. She does not apologize, she does not offer any solution, and instead rolls her eyes and looks at me angrily. Her only response she can mutter is "okay". Okay? No, not okay. Paid full price for this joke of a meal, and was offered no solution regardless of how polite I was while I was there. Now leaving this review, Bavarian Haus, if you're reading this, I should've spoken to your manager and let them know you're running this place like you don't even care. Absolute joke of a restaurant and there is zero care for quality or consistency in this place. Oh and to our waitress: act like an adult, and rethink your place in the service industry if that's how you're going to act. I genuinely have zero idea how any review here can say the food was good. Maybe if you drink enough German beer you'll be drunk and can just have zero inhibitions about this material you're eating. Unfortunately we were not able to try the food, we showed up at 1:30pm this past Sunday, the waitress / host? asked how many and when we told her 2, she stated we can not fit you as she glanced at the one open table for 4, I get maybe waiting for a bigger party, however not even a statement of " I can not fit you" in a rude tone, my wife then asked how long the wait would be and she stated I don't know maybe 20 - 30 minutes, we just felt that should have been offered not "we can not fit you", its too bad, we eat out often and bring family out specifically for German food, oh well their loss, I gave 2 stars, just because I don't know the food quality, maybe a lesson in manners is appropriate, I would have waited, but not with that attitude. We usually go to Sanford for our German but someone recommended we try the BH and glad we did. The restaurant was not busy (snow birds not back yet I guess) we were seated right away and the hostess waitress sous chef was friendly and got us our requests quickly and with a smile. We started by trying the potato pancakes with apple sauce/ sour cream which we loved. We both got schnitzel with spetzel though I got the potato dumplings and she got the German potato salad. We also got a side of red cabbage and it all was great and did not disappoint. Time to get out if you can and support this and all small restaurants :) read more

Food is always good, the red cabbage is my favorite side. It is best to call before going to verify times. I know they are closed on Mondays and have short Sunday hours. And if you get there late your subject to miss out, the kitchen closes before the restaurant does. It's a mom and pop operation so the staff that is there is there all day from open to close. I try to go at least twice a month I love it! And the beer is always good :) And yes I've been there too late and missed the kitchen too, so call first verify the hours worth it if you do! read more

Great super friendly German restaurant with an extensive and authentic menu. They have a small indoor seating and a patio. Waiter and waitress were super helpful answering questions and just chatting given it was a slow Friday afternoon. My group had a blast. Of course they've got authentic German beer. I had the 32 oz dunkel. Sorry, I forget which brewery. But it was sweet and delicious. We all got schnitzels and we all loved them. Potato salad was very good. And the red cabbage was very strong but helped spice up the schnitzel as well. Giant pretzel was good with very good mustard. And the potato pancakes were amazing. Prices are very reasonable as well. We came here on a Wednesday evening with our family. We made reservations for six people. We were able to get right in and get a nice table in the back. The inside is not real big but quaint and has a small bar. There's also plenty of outside seating. Most of the food was really good. some of it was just passable. My favorite was the warm red cabbage. The only really odd thing here was that if you wanted bread it was $1 a slice. Nothing fancy just a sourdough bread served on a plate. So if you're looking for some German food this is a place to come and Mount Dora. Our waiter who was a young man was knowledgeable and friendly. read more
