The Battery Shop has serviced our vehicles for years. Tyler at the desk is always so pleasant and patient, no matter the situation. All of the staff are friendly. Last Thursday our Tow vehicle broke down, which put us in a situation because we needed it for the weekend. We could not find an available rental in the state. I've been having trouble with my battery in a high mile, older vehicle. When AAA jumped it a few days back, the driver told me that the battery needed to be replaced. I had a couple of estimates and was ready to go to a shop I use on occasion when a buddy referred me to The Battery Shop. I gave them a ring and they said to come by any time, no appointment was needed. My friend couldn't have given a better description. My battery was replaced in 15-30 minutes (closer to 15), and the job came in at the low end of the estimate range they quoted me on the phone. The price was $35 and $140 LOWER than the other two estimates I was given by competing garages. I won't hesitate to use these guys again. My friend has been using them for 25-30 years and has nothing by glowing reviews of their knowledge and level of service. read more

My wife and I have been going to the Battery Shop for 30+ years. I do some of my own repairs but use them for most routine stuff and some more challenging issues. I realize today why I keep going back - I can talk to actual mechanics who know what they're doing - not a service writer who knows less than I do. In addition, I can ask questions and discuss repairs without offending them. Their prices my not be the lowest but they are much less than dealers and the same people take care of my vehicles every visit. They are honest and do their best. I'm not sure if they are a AAA authorized repair shop (thinking about the 10% discount on repairs) but I can say with certainty that many AAA members ask to get towed here for auto repairs. Now that AAA battery prices have skyrocketed, it's a wise choice to go here for a replacement battery and much cheaper too. AAA member and can't get your car going to get it here ? Just call AAA for a tow instead of battery service. They will both be glad to assist. read more

I have been taking my car to dealership for service for years. I know I pay more, but my expectation is that I am getting it done right. I have recently moved to Coventry RI and have quickly learned the local Honda Dealer knowingly overcharges (and, in fact, ended up recently rebating some labor costs when the service manager was unable to explain what was done to warrant the 4 hours of labor that were charged during a recent diagnosis). That was the end of my relationship with this dealer. Inquiring locally about quality service shops, I was directed to the Battery Shop multiple times. I read the online reviews and was a bit concerned with some of the negative comments, but having used the shop, want to help offset the negatives because my experience was very positive. The high notes: Service - Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. My questions and follow up questions were answered happily, thoroughly and non-begrudgingly. Pricing - Estimates came in right in line with end result. Prices extremely reasonable compared to dealer (ie. dealer quote for timing belt replace $1250; battery shop rate for same service (including water pump, etc $750.) No Up-sell - Asked them to check clunk in front suspension, they could have jumped on opportunity to sell me work, but checked it out as well as drove the car to hear noise and suggested that there were no critical issues. I will update if there are concerns, but I really have nothing bad to say and am comfortable recommending the shop. read more

Recently my wife's car and daughter's cars inspected by the Battery Shop on Post Rd. Was given an appointment within 3 days for both and dropped the vehicles off the night before. By 11am the following day, I was contacted and received a time and price estimate. Both were reasonable. I would be happy to recommend this repair shop to anyone. Bad experience. I took my car to this place from providence. My battery was death and the AAA guy told me that it had to be recharged. I leave them the car as they say it will take half a day to recharge the battery, so i take an uber to go home. On the way home they call me back saying that the battery had to be replaced and that it would take 10 mins. So I ask my uber to go back. Total cost for uber 30 bucks. I get back to the store and they keep me 40 mins waiting for the car. I am not even sure the battery could not be recharged. 100 bucks for a new battery and I am not sure it was needed. Plus the 30$ for uber because they didn't even look at the car when I got there. Never again. read more

Being a father of a 29 year old daughter who is self sufficient and having just moved to Rhode Island I was pleased to hear she got her brakes and oil changed at the battery shop the other day and was treated with respect and the quoted price was exactly what she paid. I just returned from picking up my car. I thought they were very fast and very fair with the price. While servicing another part of the car, they noticed my taillight bulb needed replacing and did that for about the price of the bulb!! I took my car to The Battery Shop for a yearly inspection, and paid $40. The car ended up needing new control arms and failed the inspection. We were told we had 30 days to fix the car and bring it back so we could get our sticker. In three weeks time we had the car repaired, and brought it back to The Battery Shop to get our sticker... only to find out that they were closed for vacation. They were closed for an entire week. We had not been informed that the business was going on "vacation", if we had known we would have rushed the repairs and brought the car in before they closed. We brought the car back on the very first day that The Battery Shop came back from vacation... only to be told there was nothing they could do for us and we would have to pay the $40 again for another inspection. Seriously? Poor communication and poor service. read more

The worst! They never repair, only replace, so many others that do not write reviews in this town also agree! Went in for an inspection I was called an told I needed two new tires in the rear to pass. My tires were 3 month old yokohamas with 728 miles on them! When I got there they had an entire print out of all they're tires! Wow they took a shot at grabbing 500 from me! The best was the other problem the man said "also I forgot yo mention it on the phone sir you need brakes, your brake pads are very worn". THEY WERE REPLACED 1 WEEK EARLIER!! When demanded to see them they refused unless I payed the labor for them to remove them and show me!!! With so many other repair shops looking for buisness there is no need to set foot in The battery shop unless you want to overpay for a battery you can purchase at Bennys! read more

My truck broke down next to this shop and I called to see if they had time to fix it, they said yes bring it in. I live out of state and this was the closest garage and they told me to come in after I called and explained my situation. After waiting an he for AAA I did bring it there. After arriving and AAA leaving the shop told me they could not look at my truck until later on that day or possibly the following morning?! I didn't understand as I had just called and they told me to have it towed there. The rude man behind the front desk named Chris told me I could go across the street and Rent a car at the airport and go home.! I said that was not an option . No one seemed to care I was literally stuck now in their shop. Not being from the area I asked Chris if there was another garage around the area I could go to and he claimed not to know of anything in the area. I sat in the waiting area as new customers walked through the door with issues with their car and they took them right in but they could not even look at my truck to tell me what the issue was. So I had to call AAA back and waited almost 3 hours, due to this frigid weather, for a tow to come with a flatbed to tow me back to my state. No one seemed to concerned or even offered alternative solutions. Except for the couple of women in the shop who offered me coffee the men behind the front desk are rude and ignorant. I do not recommend the shop to anyone their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. It's not even worth the one star I gave it but there is no option for less than that. read more
