Long review but worth reading if you're considering servicing your vehicle here. I ordered four new tires with installation online and scheduled a 9:00 AM appointment at Pep Boys. I arrived at 8:55 AM only to find the doors still locked. At 9:00 they finally opened, and the employee at the front desk informed customers that the technicians were late, so no work could begin yet. The first technician didn't arrive until around 9:15, and nobody working there seemed remotely concerned that he was late for work while customers were already waiting. I left my car and returned later that day when the work was supposedly completed. In the parking lot, I immediately noticed one valve stem was missing a cap. When I went back inside, they handed me a random mismatched cap that barely fit the threads. Shortly after driving away, my tire pressure monitoring system began updating, and one sensor showed "unavailable." I also noticed one tire was losing air. Because I was rushing to an event at my daughter's school, I could not return immediately. The next day I brought the car back. To his credit, the employee at the front desk seemed overwhelmed and understaffed, but he genuinely tried to help. While assisting me outside with a diagnostic tool, another employee--presumably his manager--came outside and reprimanded him in front of me for leaving a customer waiting inside. They argued in front of me and even tried to pull me into the disagreement by asking for my opinion on how the situation should have been handled. Completely unprofessional. They eventually discovered they had forgotten to install a tire pressure sensor in one wheel, and the leaking tire had air escaping around the valve stem. While fixing it, another employee informed me that the leak I found (a separate tire from the one with the sensor issue) was caused by a barcode sticker had been left on the tire during installation, preventing a proper seal, so they had to remount the tire. He seemed amused by this mistake. After already making a second trip and spending hours there, I did not find it funny. When they finally finished what they could, they informed me that "Blake" had apparently taken the sensor programming tool home, so I would need to return again in two days when he was working. On my third visit, things somehow got worse. They informed me they had run out of the adhesive wheel weights needed to rebalance the tires and it would take hours for more to arrive. Sensing my frustration, one employee went into the garage and found some loose weights lying around to use instead. After waiting yet again, I was finally handed my keys and told that Blake still could not program the tire sensor and would call me back once he figured out a solution, but he did not know what the exact issue was because he was "out of the loop". It has now been well over a week, and nobody has called. This entire experience was so absurd that I honestly worry people reading this review won't believe it actually happened, but I assure you every word is true. Beyond the repeated mistakes, what stood out most was the complete lack of pride, professionalism, accountability, or quality control. Nothing was checked before returning the vehicle to me, and every visit uncovered another careless error. The condition of the store itself reflects the same lack of standards and pride. The front area was cluttered with trash, dirty rags, random boxes, and layers of dust and dirt that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. It genuinely appears that nobody from corporate Pep Boys has inspected or managed this location in years. This was easily one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. read more

Made an appointment online. Brakes pads and tires. Without even looking at the vehicle, the brake price went from $200 to $1100. According to them, as soon as you hear a squeak, you've probably ruined your rotors. A bait and switch scam. Declined the brake job. The manager told me that they would check them and see what I needed anyway since brake checks was a service they provided. That did not happen, And he was long gone when my tires were finally done. Appointment was at 2. They come out at 3:30, after I have already waited 90 minutes, and tell me I ordered the wrong size tires. I had used the option on their website to determine the size, I put in my license plate and it pulls my car info from the DMV. They are just now getting started 90 minutes after I arrived with my car with the cheapest tires they have in stock that fits - and I have zero info on which tires. 4.5+ hours to get tires. Only tires. And offered 10% discount for the wait. You know what would've been great? A phone charger to use. Some water while I am trapped here. A bathroom that isn't visibly filthy, a hook to hang my bag while I use it, and maybe paper towels to dry my hands. Not sure what happened to the car before me, but they paid and left, then the mechanic ran out alarmed and told the desk to call them on the phone and have them come back NOW. Another customer just returned with their vehicle. They got an oil change. It was overfilled and they had to have it towed. Everyone I've met in my half day of getting tires swear they will never come back here. I can't even tell you what I've heard coming out of the garage. Brought my truck here for a new tires I was told by the service manager my new tires won't be covered under warranty in the future unless i get an alignment. I said my truck only has 17,000 miles. Are you sure I need one I saw online you guys check the alignment first then let me know if it needs to be done he said no you have to do the alignment . He just wanted to sell me Something extra that i honestly didn't need but he made it sounds like my tires wouldn't ever be covered if I didn't so I said ok I guess do it then . Picked up my truck 6 hours after I was supposed to pick it up. Not a big deal I understand they fell behind totally understand. Took my truck on the highway the steering wheel was crooked when driving straight . Called them they said ok bring the truck back so I did the following day . While waiting in the waiting room, I went online and contacted BF Goodridge and they stated that the tire is only need to be rotated. Every 5000 miles with proof for the warranty. I did not need an alignment so paid for something I didn't need . The mechanic came out and said it's all set. Steering wheel was very crooked and that He fixed it I said thank you handed me my keys and i left . Took The truck back on the highway steering wheel is now crooked in the opposite direction . Took the truck back nicely approached the counter and said my steering wheel is now crooked in the other direction . The manager got all worked up stormed out said I'm going for a test drive . While he was gone, employee inside, stated that their system is never calibrated, and he keeps telling him to do it and they don't listen . Manager returned 2 min later rushed me outside . Your truck is fine I just drove it down the road it's good . I said you took it on the highways in 2 min he said no I took it down the road I had it going 60 mph . Another lie you can't do 60 down cowesett road and if you could prob isn't a safe idea . So I told him you need to take it on the highways on a straightaway and you will see it's not straight he said we arnt doing that . I said well how can you tell me is fine when you haven't taken on the highway.Then he going extra rude just cuz you say sir before your a dick don't make it rite .asked me sir what do you do for work I told him . He stated I'm not qualified to say it's wrong cuz I'm just a truck driver . Handed me a form said this says it's good I said they just told me you don't get the Machine calibrated and you told me it was good last time and your mechanic told me he fixed it cuz it wasn't right after the first time you said it was good to go you can't hand me a form saying the truck has been calibrated if the machine is never calibrated.The guy literally kept going saying I'm just trying to get my money back I said no I just want my steering wheel on my truck with 17k on it to be like it was when I dropped it off the first time . And that if there system can't do it I'll take it somewhere else . He said I don't need to because it's fine when It isn't . I wish I read all the reviews online before going here now seeing them they're all 100% correct don't bring your vehicle to this place The mechanic and the kid at the counter were nice and agreed with me on everything I was saying . Now I have to spend extra money to fix a problem I didn't have before I brought my truck to this place . went to change my tires last year, of course being a girl they take advantage of that. They sold me 5 year old over priced tires, lasted me less than a year. went in to get a new ones, LIED to get out of a warranty and tried to sell me more overpriced tires. went somewhere else to get tires and paid half of what pep boys wanted. would never recommend anyone to come here awful business and service. read more

All we wanted was the sticker number lol. My wife and I had used their services a few times. We even had a family member back in Michigan whom worked for the company so we figured why not. Well things why..... All we wanted to know was what number you wrote on the sticker that fell off her window. Now I have a feeling you document what the mileage is was the last time we visited so I'm guessing the individual who was working the phone one the morning of June 20th 2025 is just mentally challenged and can't use a compooter .... And your customer service sucks. Thanks for nothing. If you ask me the service is meh 4/10 and their mechanics are ok. Watch a your tube video and you'll probably have the same effect. Service sucks. Some of the techs aren't that great. Services are sorta cheap but you get what you pay for. The only thing this place is good for is a quick patch and maybe windshield wipers if you need someone to do that just go to Orielys down the street. 100x nicer. Whoever I spoke to on the phone today should work at the dmv seeing as his abysmally shit personality would probably serve him better there than at a pep boys. read more

What is the point in having an appointment if they can never work on your car at that time??? Pre-ordered 4 tires and made an appointment for a few days later only to get there and be told they didn't have the tires I ordered and I'd have to leave my car all day. I live 30 minutes away so this wasn't an option so I made a new appointment telling them I'd have to wait and when I came back they AGAIN tried telling me it would be hours before they could get to it. Now 3 months later I'm here again replacing a tire and made a 2:00 appointment. I called yesterday and said I'd be waiting and was told I should be in and out fairly quick. Now I've been here 2 hours to have ONE tire put on and it's still not ready. I will never come back here. I only came back this time because it's the only place that had the exact tire I needed. Basically appointments mean nothing. I suppose if you live close and can get rides this place might be fine but if you plan on waiting, bring a novel. read more

I had an appointment for a 2-tire installation + rotation & alignment. Seemed a bit pricey at $200 as they were installing tires that I had already purchased separately, but not outrageous... Until they wanted to replace all my struts for $1,500! This is a fast and easy DIY repair, mind you - and I was able to purchase 2 rear struts online for just $100. The service appointment took literally three and a half hours (I waited, not a drop-off appt) & when I got home I realized they didn't even rotate the tires. It's not worth going back and waiting for another service appointment. I won't be returning & can't recommend. read more

Can't say enough good things about these guys, especially Nico. His extra effort to get my tires delivered to the store and mounted on my car was outstanding. Things got a little messed up in the morning and he solved the problem and was kind enough to give me a 10% discount for my trouble. I purchased tires from eBay which uses Pep boy's as one of their locations to put the new tires on my rims. I'm am sooo sorry for choosing this location. I wouldn't recommend this place to a Democrat. On second thought I probably would. As it turns out the place has litter outside and inside the location like you can't believe. When I arrived I actually thought the place was closed. I addressed my concern to the female manager and all she could say was she wasn't strong enough to lift the trash cans so I recommend she spend 10 minutes with her employees and throw out the trash. She made up all kind of excuses while she sat there on her cell phone playing around manning the store phone. It was not busy in case you are wondering. I came this close to leaving but I already paid eBay. Anyway as it turns out while putting my new tires on the rims the mechanic scratched my alloy Rims and bent them to the point while driving now I can feel my car going up and down while driving. This never happened before and no other person ever mentioned my rims were bent. While he was putting the new tires on I could hear the tire machine struggling to do it's job. While forcing the tire on the rims he actually bent them. he left all kinds of white grease on the tires and never wiped it off. As a matter of fact he left greasy hand prints on the outside and inside of my car. While taking pictures of the trash outside a customer walked up and immediately turned around after seeing the filth. There is more to this horrible story and I have other things to do. Made appointment to have my A/C repaired. Was there for 3- hours then got the news that the car needed a new compressor and clutch. Back the next day and there for 8-hours and now car needed a pressure switch. Back again for 2.5 hours and informed they can't fix the issue and they charged me $1000.00 to give me my car back. at one point was a good place.. but has honestly fallen to crap. Four times in the past year I have made an appointment. I show up and 1.) the shop wasn't open 2.) " the tech that knows how to do that isn't here today" ( that happened twice) 3.) and today once rebooking the appointment yesterday, found out that " the tech who has to look at your car isn't in yet, and we have to wait until his tool box gets here before he can do anything" Very " back alley" type of woman at the desk, really a lovely poised professional. I made an appointment a week before I went in for service and "pre-ordered" four tires that were on sale. I drove 35 miles to the store to be told they didn't have them in stock. I stopped in to have a screw patched on my tire. Was told that it could not be repaired and I would need a new tire. They did not have the same brand/ size. I ordered a replacement from Amazon. I made a subsequent appoint online to have the new tire installed. I waited two hours to have this simple install done, after making an appointment. I would suggest you go to a different establishment, I typically would have used my local garage but they are closed for vacation and felt making an appointment would have saved me time. Terrible customer service by person answering phones (man) who hung up on me as I checked on my car that they had for over a week "waiting" on a part and the actual service technician. The actual service tech was nice and seemed competent. Alyssa was originally helpful and truthful that they had staffing issues but then went on vacation. After purchasing tires from Tire Rack, I opted to have 4 tires mounted and balanced on my 2020 Tundra (that previously was only dealer serviced) at this store. So I figured what the hell do an oil change while it's here. BAD IDEA! Got the truck home to find oil pouring out of the filter housing and I mean pouring out. The whole ride home it was just coating my undercarriage. These techs are incompetent and useless. I will continue this review after I get the truck back from the dealer to explain exactly what they did wrong and whether or not I am compensated for the hack job oil change. I have never used them for automotive repair (nor would I, seeing all the poor reviews), but I have stopped there a few times over the years for auto parts, supplies or fluids. A long time had elapsed since my last visit, and when I stopped there last weekend, I was reminded why my visits there are sparse - getting in and out of their parking lot from Cowesett Avenue requires a combination of luck and the patience of a saint! The nearly steady stream of traffic coming off Bald Hill Road ensures you will worry about being rear-ended pulling in, and trapped there a long time, waiting to pull out. It's a horrible location. My visit last Saturday proved not worth the traffic hassle of stopping here. First, I hate the layout inside the store. It's not customer-friendly, in my opinion. And, when I asked a female employee where to find funnels, she just pointed in a general direction, which was very un-helpful. I grabbed some transmission fluid (which seemed more expensive than other automotive chains), and headed for the cashier. An elderly woman was ahead of me. This customer either seemed to be asking the cashier several questions, or just attempting to engage him in a long-winded conversation - I wasn't sure. I brought my car in for an inspection. The horn wasn't working so I made an appointment to bring it back for an electrical assessmemy. They had the car for3 days but the 'specialist' never came in so they wanted me to leave it for a fourth day but I decided to pick up. Also, they turn on an automated answering service that just keeps bringing you back to the original options so you can't call them back. read more

Went to get a front end alignment they told me it couldn't be done because I needed lower control arms on both sides. I thought this was odd because we just replaced this stuff not to long ago. So I went back to my normal mechanic and it was a bent strut on the left side not control arms. So after they told me it would be close to $800 here at pep boys to get the control arms and front end alignment I said no way and glad I did. Only ended up spending about $250 for two new struts and the front end alignment and car is back to normal. Never again will I go to pep boys. And while I was checking out for the two tires they balance for me two more customers walked in bringing their cars back that Pep boys had recently worked on and I over heard complaining that problems were not fixed. read more

I sent my wife to purchase rotors and brake pads. This is her statement as to what happened. Worst service ever. I am sorry but Alyssa "Retail Manager" made me feel so dumb. I get my oil changed in your store, i know very little about cars. I asked for break pad and routers tonight. I told her i go there for oil changes to make it easy so she can look me up by phone number or name. Nooo, the abrupt rudeness of interrupting me while i was talking took me back. She basically was asking me questions i really didnt know. She obviously did not want to be bothered. Her facial expression and body language said it all. When i was done cashing out she followed me out the door with the other associate that was behind the counter with her (who was ok) but, it appears that i may have interrupted her intended break for a cigarette. I will never be coming back. I just hope i dont have to return the pads and routers. Never will i step foot in there again. Poor poor service. read more

If you have 3 hours available to have them only look at your flat tire, this is the place for you. If you enjoy attitude when you ask for you car back, this is place for you. Maybe they are understaffed, maybe the guy had been yelled at all day... but I certainly don't recommend this place for anything ever. read more

This review is for the service department only. Do not bother to even get a quote because These guys will try to rip you off. The guy in the service department told me it would take an hour to change my headlight... They told me that my specific vehicle required the wheel would have to come off etc. etc. and they were going to charge me $100! Guessing he just made that price up without even researching my car.. I went to the place next-door where I bought a headlight and they did it for free. Guess what they popped the hood and did it that way and it took a total of 4 minutes. read more

I wanted to just buy tires as I had a friend that was going to install them. they would not give me the sale price without installation from them. I agreed to have them do the installation and he told me that the car would be ready in an hour. 4 1/2 hours later, I got my car back. When I asked the guy at the desk why my car was taking so long he made it sound like he was doing me a favor by installing the tires that I didn't want installed in the first place. After 3 1/2 hours of waiting, I got a text that my car was finished and they hadn't even taken the tires off yet. when I questioned the front desk he said that I was wrong and the car was almost finished. I went to the window to watch the guy who was supposedly working on my car and he was walking around cleaning up and even went out to his car. when I again questioned the front desk, he just shrugged at me. worse experience ever and I will never return. read more

Made an online appointment to get my battery checked/replaced that day at 4 pm. At 2:30 I received a phone call saying that they couldn't accommodate my appointment and that I would have to reschedule for the next day. I understand that things get busy, however wish that they would have called me earlier. I stopped at AutoZone on my way home and they checked and replaced my battery for free! No wait time, I was in and out of there in 20 mins- Salesman was super helpful... Will be going to Auto Zone from now on..... read more

I needed an unusual size tire and found it on the Pep Boys website. Went through the process of ordering it on line at which point it asked me if I wanted the tires delivered to me or if I wanted them installed by Pep Boys. I choose installed by Pep Boys. The website then directed be to the site for my local Pep Boys on Quaker Lane where I set up an appointment 5 days later. Showed up that morning for my install and was told they didn't have the tires. They did email me the day before but I missed that email. Disappointed that they couldn't get the tires there in 5 day. Probably more of an ecommerce mess up than the fault of the local Pep Boys. read more

This store is full of sexist jerks. I went in there for a simple alignment. I was not called back for over 2 hours and when they did call they told me I needed over 500$ worth of work before they could even do the alignment. I picked up my car and was charged $22 for them to look at it. I then drove straight to sears auto where they did the alignment no problem. They took advantage of the fact that I was a young women.
