After visiting and a full day of play at the Barker Lounge!

Still finding the Barker Lounge to be the best daycare for my boy Sterling. Best of all he comes home ready to sleep! He needs that kind of energy release, and I can't always give it. I trust the crew at the Barker Lounge and they ALWAYS come through!!

Our pup, Luna, has been going to the Barker Lounge for over a year. She loves it so much and we make a game of going to "Barker" or "daycare". We tell her where we're going the night before and she literally can't wait! Once she arrives, she wants nothing to do with mom and can't wait til she's with her friends. We love to check out their Instagram to see if LuLu has made an appearance. She gets lots of love and attention from everyone there. They've even taught her certain commands which shows just how much they do. Luna has made lots of friends and we love to hear who she's hung out with that day. She also gets the Barker Lounge "hangover" where she is so worn out she can't even keep her eyes open on the ride home. She sleeps well that night! The owners, Heidi and Kevin, are great and Heidi remembers the smallest details and every dog's name. She really cares about the pups. Luna has also been boarded several times and loves her that too. Each pup has their own open-air "kennel" (indoor) with a see-through plexiglass door so they can see other pups. One of my favorite things they have done was to have a Christmas photo shoot which produced the cutest pics ever! I hope they continue to do that tradition. They also collect donations for local animal shelters. Can't recommend Barker enough!

This review for The Barker Lounge is long overdue! We have been taking our 2 Maltese here for over two years now. This location is very convenient for us since it is located on Hwy 17 in the south side of West Ashley. Dog Lovers this is the spot for Doggie Daycare, Boarding, and Grooming!! Our 2 boys love Heidi and her Staff, they are incredible!! We never have a problem Boarding here make sure you call ahead because they book up quickly on Holidays and I would expect it with the great care they give to the dogs! The Barker Lounge easily gets 5 Stars ! Thanks Heidi for being Awesome!

Our lil Tater girl had a great experience at Barker Lounge. Before she stayed there, she had a trial day to make sure she was comfortable and got along with the other puppies. When we picked her up from the trial day, the owner had notes on how she did and we got a full tour of the facilities. We also got a breakdown of her schedule for the day, which was comprised of her playing inside, outside, nap time, food time, more play time, then bed time! The owner was very friendly and you could tell she deeply cares about every puppy in their facility. After the tour and her trial day, I was confident Tater would have a great time! We went on vacation for four nights and we received an email update on the second day, which was very nice. They also posted a picture of Tater on their Instagram, and it was great to see her so happy! When we picked her up, she was a happy and healthy girl and that's all I needed to see! It was nice being on vacation and knowing exactly what Tater was doing while we were gone. Will definitely use them again the next time we go out of town!

I love this place, but more importantly, my dog loves this place. I've used them about twice weekly for daycare for the past 10 months, and have done occasional boarding and nail trimming. My dog loves other dogs but is extremely anxious around humans, and daycare has provided an amazing outlet for him to socialize and play. He always comes home exhausted! It's clear that Heidi and Kevin, who run this location, love dogs and are passionate about maintaining a clean environment. The facilities are great - both indoor and outdoor play space, as well as great sized kennels for nap time. For daycare, all the dogs have a midday nap time in the kennel and are provided a kong with 2 tsp of peanut butter while soft jazz music plays. Talk about luxury! Booking daycare/boarding is super easy (in person, online, or via phone). I'm currently pregnant, and Heidi and Kevin have said they will accommodate whenever we need to drop our dog off when I go into labor. I really appreciate how they go out of their way!

A doggy day care. I don't always bring my dog here, but when I do........Actually, picking up dog for someone. They pay a monthly fee and drop dog off whenever they want. Busy schedule of playtime, nap, and more playtime. Super friendly staff and reception area bright and clean. Never actually got to see dog space, but must be very nice for this dog to be left here

We just picked our sweet boy up yesterday after being boarded for 9 days. I was called only Saturday evening (the night before he was to be picked up) and was told he may have kennel cough and that they separated him from the rest of the dogs. When I arrived I was told he ate good and besides the mucus in his nose and a slight cough, he had been acting just fine. He was excited to see me, but once we were in the truck I immediately knew something was wrong. He laid there the whole ride home, hardly moving. Once home I noticed he seemed much thinner and all he did was sleep all day, wouldn't eat or drink. I got him into his vet early Monday morning and was told he had a terrible infection, fever and had lost 7 pounds. He was put on strong antibiotics for 10 days and they sent us home with wet food because they were worried about the weight loss and dehydration. That certainly doesn't sound like a dog that was acting fine and eating well!! I am beyond angry with the owners of The Barker Lounge and the lack of care they showed our poor puppy. If you care at all about your animals, TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE!! These pictures were taken the morning I picked him up. This is not the healthy dog we left in their care!!

Happy and tired from playing all day

Love this place. Heidi is the best! She is knowledgeable and passionate about dogs, which I appreciate. Also, the facilities are so clean! My dog, Blue, came home happy and tired. As a young Labrador Retriever, it's rare to find him asleep before dinner time. Definitely recommend and we will be back!

While our dogs were there, we got no communication or indication of anything. When my boyfriend picked our pups up, he felt extremely rushed because of the line and didn't get to talk long to anyone about their stay. I ended up calling myself and literally had to "prod" for answers about how everything went. Only got "they did well" and no details of anything. I know no news is good news, but I could've used a little more detail instead of one word answers and me being the only one talking. The icing on the cake was when our dogs came home, the one who was w other dogs got EXTREMELY sick and the other who was in private play caught the bug 24 hours later from the first. We know anxiety poops after change of scenery/boarding/etc. this was NOT that and our vet needed to prescribe antibiotics because it continued to last into a week and wasn't getting any better. Not saying the bug is anyones fault, but it's the last straw I needed to never go back. Thanks but no thanks!

They will provide updates (if asked) and are very flexible with last minute bookings. One of my dogs has a seizure disorder and had a seizure during boarding. This review is from 2+ years ago but I doubt anything has changed. STAY AWAY…read more If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I just moved to Charleston from Boston and brought my shih tzu, Coconut, into this place in hopes of finding a new daycare for her. I like her to get socialization and I work from home. I came in after filling out paperwork for an assessment. On the phone, I was told the assessment would cost $7 for 2-3 hours onsite. When I came in, they told me it's $7 per hour. I told them that wasn't what was communicated to me (multiple times really) and that they should go by the pricing I was quoted. Then they called the manager who basically said $7 per hour. I asked to speak to her (many times actually) and was told I could not because she was off site today. Eventually, we moved past this. I expressed that I was willing to get a large package of daycare sessions, but $7 an hour just isn't worth it for an assessment when they're normally quick & free. They start showing me the facility. They admit that many dogs pee inside (which is odd - I understand dogs/excitement/etc. but that shouldn't be the norm). I asked about walks - they don't do them due to the location. I asked about outdoor visits. She said your dog would be in the small dog area. They DO NOT have access to outdoors... for the full day. Are you kidding me? Dogs could hypothetically be there from 7am-7pm and you aren't going to let those poor things outside? She said if you request it, they can let them out. She told me to go to go to Summerville where they have access to the outdoors. That is completely unrealistic and far from where I live. At that point, I was so horrified that I left. I asked to speak to the manager again (more because I think their practices aren't healthy or safe) and she said what do you want to speak to her about? You've asked a lot of questions. Overall, I've taken my dog to 3 daycare facilities before in and out of state. I can't believe this place has good reviews. I would never send my dog here. Be mindful of how this place treats your pets. They also have almost no one watching the dogs and look at them on a webcam. Just shameful.

Consistentency in experience could improve. Have only been twice for Vet and grooming in past year…read more Last year would have given 5 stars, (for grooming experience (senior cat) and the Vet and tech. I even recently recommended it to a few people. But had an entirely different experience for the second time. A different tech/dr., neither one showed much interest in the pet, whereas last year the tech was super friendly and helpful when pet was under stress-- she even went to get a towel and calming spray to see if that would help (it did), this year very different, rather cold experience. Not very communicative. Basic questions were asked , I brought up most of them and felt like maybe after 2-3 I should stop. Same with groomer. Last year things were gone over, any concerns, (since a senior pet, like arthritis, positioning , stress response and heart murmur etc), was great I thought. This year , barely a hello, or care for the pet, sorta like "you want same as last year?", and a hand off...and a clapback saying well of course she's going to be sore after a grooming appt., when I reminded her of arthritis in back legs/positioning etc. I know that! I'm talking about effects that last for months, so just reminding groomer of situation (or tried to), as she's walking off with pet in the carrier. Very dismissive! And seemed uncaring in my concern for pet ! Totally different experience than last year. I don't usually write reviews, but this was such a Whiplash experience from a year ago, I chose to do so.
