Not only did they send ALL of her food back with her, she came home with cuts and sores all over her skin, a chemical burn on her stomach, and had lost 17 lbs in the 10 days she was there. They claimed to me that the food container, which was premeasured for the duration of her stay, was "too heavy to carry" and that they fed her in house food. We took her to another veterinarian office to have her evaluated because she was so traumatized and unwell.The vet was not even able to gather a fecal sample because they starved her while she was in their "care". Do NOT send your pet here. They are abusive and should be ashamed. Animal control should shut this place down. They lied to me and told me multiple different stories, and then lied and told another different story to the animal control officer. They don't refund the boarding fee after they clearly neglected to provide the service they promised. In addition, we had to pay almost $600 for veterinary treatment for the injuries our puppy sustained in their "care". I will tell every person I know how horrific they were to our sweet puppy.

I love how she gets to play with other small dogs, indoors and out; we appreciate them having separate areas for large and small dogs. Well a few things…read more.. This company is very loving and professional regarding your animals. However you can not get anyone on the phone... ever. Not only that but they do not call you back. If you create an account and sign up online, you are sent an autogenerated email saying your appt is not confirmed until you hear from a staff member which I never did. I took the chance and showed up for my requested unconfirmed appt and luckily it was our correct appt time. All this being said, I stayed for my babies appt and I could tell that was awkward for them but if you don't answer the phone I'm not leaving my pet with you ever. They were kind to me regardless. Our groomer did an amazing job and they really do take the time to make your baby a priority. I think hiring a secretary full time would really make a difference in the reviews. All that matters to me is that my baby girl is safe and loved. I believe this is achieved at Pet Mahal.

This place is a real find. Washing my fidgety hound in the tub at home is not an easy process. I…read morelove the elevated tubs. For a very reasonable price you get all the things you need for a professional wash (including 4 different shampoos to choose from), wipes for their ears, wipes for their eyes, and a dryer to make sure your pup comes home nice and dry. There's a mat in the bottom of the tub so your dude or dudette isn't slipping around and panicking. The water is warm and the sprayer helps get all the soap out of their coat. From the time we hit the door to the time we are checking out it only takes me about 20 minutes to get my buddy washed and dried. You can also have them handle the wash if you want. They also have a grooming service. My buddy doesn't need much grooming but I have seen the results of their work and its all very nice (I used to own a grooming shop so I know a good cut). The staff is very friendly and helpful and they carry a wide variety of food and other supplies. Highly recommended!

After 2 hours of driving to fix their mistake, the owner Chad refused to apologize, refund, or take accountability and claimed a quick 20-minute brush counted as the full service deshedding. Details: We scheduled a deshedding appointment for our dog the week of the 9th for Friday afternoon. At pickup, I noticed my dog was not fully dry, and the total charge was $55 instead of the $70 we previously paid for a deshedding service. When I asked Eric about the price difference, he assured me the deshedding had been completed and that the groomer simply adjusted the price because my dog was not shedding as much. Later that evening, my dog was shedding more than before the appointment. The following morning (Saturday the 14th), I contacted the owner, Chad, who apologized and asked us to return Tuesday or Wednesday after 5 p.m. so he could correct the issue personally. We drove from Mount Pleasant (30 minutes each way) on Tuesday, but Chad was not present. Eric took our dog back for approximately 20 minutes and later acknowledged that the deshedding service had not been performed. He showed us the amount of hair removed and stated he would inform Chad so the situation could be made right. After not hearing back for several days, we contacted Island Pet again regarding a resolution, including the time spent driving to correct the mistake. During that conversation, Chad was defensive, raised his voice, and stated there would be no refund, credit, or further resolution. He claimed the 20-minute brushing session qualified as a deshedding service, defining it as de-shed shampoo, time to sit, followed by blow drying and brushing. However, that full process was not performed during the original appointment. We booked and expected a deshedding service but were instead charged for a basic wash, plus tip, and spent two additional hours driving.
