We recently adopted a two-year-old Ridgeback and we hadn't trimmed his nails since we owned him. I called the bark ark and they were able to get him in the same day for a quick nail trim. I wasn't sure how he would act but she reassured me that he would do fine and that they would take care of him. The visit went very well and our pup was in and out in five minutes. I'm going to have to agree with Bob's review, that's EXACTLY why we left. We knew our dog Sadie would have ZERO problems going anywhere, vet, etc, but when she came here it's like she knew where she was and she started shaking each and every time which made you wonder what was up. I and my husband too would tell them exactly how we wanted her to look. And then come back to the hair too short or not cut the way you asked in certain areas, it's like she had a mind of her own on what she wanted for your dog, much like hairdressers that think they know it all, and you would end up paying outrageous prices for a grooming you didn't like. Additionally we always found she had an attitude. Maybe because she was overbooked - we don't know - but we were glad to get away from this place. read more

I have a double coated dog that just needed a routine trim. This was communicated to the groomers, and yet our pup came back completely shaved. His breed should not be shaved or clipped short as he has a fur double coat, and shaving is likely to leave permanent damage and cause "shave shock". Something the Bark Ark should know. Extremely disappointed with the service, as this could now be a long term issue for my dog's fur. A few other reviews (here and on Google) reiterate that they do their own thing and decide to shave the dogs- a process that requires no skill or care, particularly for well-cared after dog breeds that should NEVER be shaved. They acknowledged this was not what was discussed, saying "yeah...it's a little shorter than we talked about". On top of that, they charged a ridiculous price for something they put no care or thought into. This experience has been incredibly frustrating as now my dog has no insulation or protection entering the colder months, and may suffer permanent damage to his coat. read more

I have been taking my dogs to the Bark Ark for the past 30 yrs. The staff is wonderful and so caring. My current dog is a Shih Tzu and she always comes home looking so cute and smelling so good. She loves going to be groomed and I think she likes seeing the other dogs being groomed. The area is open so when you walk in you can see dogs being bathed or on tables. Nothing is hidden behind walls. I now drive 50 minutes to the Bark Ark and would never consider going any where else. And, they are just as wonderful with cats. read more

Brought my dog in and spoke to a very nice tech, girl with long dark hair, and I explained what I wanted....mainly how I am trying to grow her face out so it's round and full. Well they did the opposite. Cut the hair on her ears short as well as around her face because the groomer thought she was a Westie so gave her a Westie look. Found out the groomer was not who I spoke to but rather it was the owner who neglected to listen to the tech I spoke to or read the note card that also explained what I wanted. I've been bringing my two English bulldogs here for the past two years. It is the only place that the dogs enjoy going to they are all butts wagging when I pull into the lot. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating and I think their prices are on par with other places I've been. The dogs are always groomed well and smell great. I also love how its open and you can see them washing and grooming the dogs. I highly recommend them. read more

I've been bringing my Persian cat here for years and they do a great job with him. I can always get an appointment, they are very accommodating even with emergencies. He had a very poopy butt once on a holiday and they took him right away no questions asked. Debbie is the one who takes care of cats and she's really great with him, always remembers his name even if I see her around town and he always comes home happy and looking great. My cat is pretty hard to groom and other groomers that I have used in the past had to call me to come in and help them. This is not so with the Bark Ark. I would highly recommend the Bark Ark to anyone. read more

My Border Collie/Jack Russell mix is deeply afraid of scissors and the electric shaver but he will let the nice ladies at Bark Ark shave him and he has A LOT of hair. I took him to another place once that was run by a really nice guy but the dog was so freaked out the guy couldn't shave him. The Ladies of the Bark Ark just have the right touch with my dog. Our old groomer had left the area and I was searching for someone to groom my Australian Shepherd. He has a lot of hair to start and hadn't been groomed in while because of health issues. So needless to say the team at the Bark Ark has their work cut out for them. They did a great job. He looked great and was groomed correctly for an Aussie. Pricing was very reasonable. Do not bring your pet here to be groomed!!!!! The workers have no patience with the animals and are VERY rude to customers. They also overcharge for minor services and do NOT do a good job. HORRIBLE and RUDE workers to both the animals and customers!!!!! read more

The team at the Bark Ark is amazing! We moved from Boston and were having a hard time finding a groomer that was convenient to our work hours, Saturday availability, but the Bark Ark is totally accommodating. Our cat, Humbert-Humbert, does not like the car and hates a carrier even more! He has an "accident" every time we put him in a carrier to go anywhere. The Bark Ark bathes, brushes, and dries him all before even cutting any of his long hair. We love his lion shave and it takes years off his behavior; we pick up a spry cat evertime. We are so appreciative to the attention and love they give to our cat. read more

Do not bring your pet to this place. They are rude and incompetent. If I could give this pet torture chamber negative stars, I would. We brought our dog to get her nails clipped and they twisted her arm and split her nails. Our dog is a gentle, friendly dog and they wanted to muzzle her----ridiculous. And they inisisted on clipping her nails in the foyer/lobby, not on the available raised table as a professional place would do. And to top off the experience--their tools were old and dull. If you care about your pet STEER CLEAR of this establishment---they are dismissive to the owners and completely lacking in compassion for animals---they should find another line of work. read more

The Bark Ark did an amazing job with the Lion Cut for my Ragdoll. I've had Lion Cuts from other groomers, but the Bark Ark did the BEST. They left a perfect main that was also nicely trimmed, and my favorite was that they even trimmed the long fur on his toes. That was a first. He looked spectacular! read more

I have a very tricky breed in terms of Grooming- a Skye Terrier. We have brought her to several different groomers and finally decided to go back to my "home town" to see how they did- as we were extremely dissapointed with everyone else. And they did a great job! She was perfectly groomed, no awful clipper marks or anything. Skye Terriers matt up very easily and they can always get through it, and keep my pup happy. I also have a very finicky dachshund who NEVER lets anyone cut her nails- and they can do it- she's not thrilled, but she actually allows them to do it, and thats a huge plus for me. They are a bit old school..not extremely "hospitable" to the customers (my boyfriend was turned off by the customer service a couple times) but hey...they take great care of my dogs. And that is the service I am going for. read more
