I have used Paws Bed and Biscuit a few times over the past 4 years primarily for boarding my two dogs. The last boarding was for 11 days. It was nice to see that the drop off/pickup area was at the play yard entrance. There is a small holding area for dogs to safely meet and greet other dogs before new arrivals are released to the main area. The play yard is huge and has an obstacle course, pools and offers plenty of shading. When I picked up my dogs they were a part of the general population and seemed happy as their tails were wagging. Our little Havapoo Alex has spent time at daycare, and he has been boarded there for a bit more than a week several times. They took great care of him. Once I had to change the pickup time due to our plane being delayed. Only took minutes and I received a message that he was all set for another day. This was over fourth of July... Blindly rejected my dog, solely because he's not neutered even though he has never shown aggression or has had behavioral issues. I understand if this is their policy, but wasted a bunch of time filling out forms online because they don't answer their phones, only to find out they wouldn't accept him. Very impersonal and presents a corporate business feel, with all automated responses to email questions. Could have saved my time with a 30 sec phone call with a human. Furthermore, they proceeded to take my original review and summarize a private email taken completely out of context and posted to their social media so that people who have no real idea of the conversation can criticize me. We did extensive research on finding a place to bring our new puppy for daycare and socialization. We decided to try Paws even though it was a 30 min ride from our home and we have been so grateful to have found them! Our pup Winnie now gets so excited when we get to downtown Mendon and turn down the road cause she knows where she's going and loves to see her friends when she gets dropped off. We have also had to board her a few times and they were the only place in the area that specifically catered to young puppies needs and they pay such attention to detail to ensure each dog is well taken care of. They also post a lot on their social media pages of how much fun the dogs are having and we enjoy seeing our dog on there on the days she goes. We boarded our sweet girl recently and when we got her back her vocal cords are now damaged as it seems they were probably dragging her around so hard to do that. We had to ask how she did and all we got was a generic email saying she did great. We call during office hours multiple times and no one picks up. I have nothing but incredible things to say about Dan and his team at Paws Bed and Biscuit. We knew when we adopted our labradoodle, Winnie, last July that we had a weekend we would need to board her just 2 months after bringing her home. We had friends who recommended Paws and we were so happy to find that they had exceptional reviews and even special accommodations for puppies under 5 months old. Despite the trying times of Covid and being unable to tour the facility, the team at Paws put our worries at bay and gave so much love to our doodle that we began taking Winnie to daycare at Paws 2x/week. For the past 6 months, we have driven a half hour each way from Worcester to Mendon to bring Winnie to a daycare that loves her and provides a stimulating, fun and happy environment. Winnie is so happy when we pull up to the driveway at Paws and cries when it's time to go home, where she is exhausted and sleeps for hours upon her return. We are so lucky that we just moved about 5 minutes away from Paws so now Winnie can spend more time with her extended family and furry friends! Our move was made so much easier by Paws in knowing that Winnie was well taken care of and loved for the 2 additional weekends that we boarded her. We understood the risks of bringing our dog to a doggy daycare. During one of her visits she was bitten by another dog. The facility called (No caller id) and had tried my fiance. There was no message left and no further calls were mad. There is a large gap in communication, we should've never gotten the update at pick up, especially when first aid was applied to my pup and a visit to the vet was required. The bite went through her ear and required antibiotics. Please, ask about their call policy when there is an emergency. read more

Disclaimer: NOT a customer, just was a potential customers. My wife and I use a popular local doggy daycare facility, and it has been fine for our dog, but we were exploring options in the area, especially to see if there was a place that offered real outdoor play areas. We checked Yelp and found this business. Noted a lot of good reviews, and one from a customer upset by their interaction with the owners. We decided to ignore the bad one and check it out anyway. We did take a drive by the place first and saw the driveways and parking were roped off because they have very strict rules on pick up and drop off and we couldn't see anything from the accessible part. Actually, if you visit their website, which I encourage you to do, they have a LOT of rules. Unable to really see the facility from the road, we left and my wife called to schedule a visit. This was a couple of days ago, and she was told that the earliest possibly visit would be in September (2-3 months away!). I think she expressed to the owners that she didn't understand why there would be such a long delay, and I don't think they responded very well, and said something along the lines of visits disturbing the dogs. I understand it's a family owned business, but that's not really an excuse for being inflexible, especially compared to similar businesses. Not being able to tour a facility is a huge red flag for us - it implies a place isn't really fit for visitors most of the time. We will never know. We certainly can't tell anyone how to run their business, but it didn't seem reasonable to us, so we continue to look at other places. read more

Our big fur-baby, Bubba, has been going to PAWS Bed & Biscuit daily for the past 1 1/2 years (since he was 4 months old) and loves it! He jumps out of the car every morning, tail wagging, dragging me to the door, ready to play with all his friends. The owners, Dan & Maegan are excellent to interact with and always professional. It's evident that they and the handlers have big hearts and take a great deal of pride in their work when it comes to caring for the dogs. We visited a lot of boarding facilities before deciding on Paws. In 2001 while on vacation we had a dog pass away while being boarded at another facility. Because of this we were very apprehensive about leaving our dog(s) anywhere for any period of time after that. After deciding that Paws may be a good fit, Daniel allowed us to tour the facility and required our dog to do a trial run before we went away. He wanted to ensure that she was as good of a fit for them as they were for us. After that first day when she came home, we knew it was great fit. We have been customers of Paws since 2012. Here we are many years later and two of our dogs go to Paws for daycare weekly. I am relieved when I have to go away that my dogs are cared for and loved. The staff at Paws love all of the dogs and treat them as their own. Every day when I go to drop the dogs off and they pull me IN the door I know I made the best decision. Having had such a bad experience with a boarding facility previously, I am happy that I do not need to worry about my dogs while I am away. Disappointed to say the least. They would never win my vote for "best of". My intent was to bring my 7 month puppy there to get acclimated to others and to board her when I travel. I thought I found the perfect doggie daycare when I first walked it. Eventually, I learned I was wrong.. First few days went well. They only have 2 sections: small and all. After a few days, they moved her to the big dogs and that was overwhelming. I was told she has anxiety (probably because she is with me all day) and that they may not be able to keep her. But to keep coming back. Note - they never said how they would work with her to help her. Next steps were 1) keep sending her, 2)keep her separated from me during the day, put her upstairs and kennel her while I worked (umm, what's the point of having a dog/companion if she can't be with me?) and 3) I would have to have a zoom call with him and then he can recommend a program for her? And even if I did all that, there is no guarantees he could "fix" this or that they would board her in a few weeks. Something definitely doesn't feel right. As a Mom, you always go with your gut. Easiest decision was to no longer send her from there. She is now in a better place and does not "experience these anxiety issues" they claim she has. It's didn't work out for us and I'm glad I figured it out sooner rather than later. read more

Our dogs Grace & Arthur spent the week at the Bed & Biscuit, and although they missed home...I can tell they had a great time! Grace even received a complimentary bath...thank you! Grace is a rescue and can be very timid, so I worry about her being "stressed" in an enclosed space. Arthur is also a rescue, but considering the amount of neglect he endured, I worry about him getting along with others....two completely different dog temperaments. I must say that I was and am still very impressed at how well adjusted my two very special dogs have behaved in the care of Dan and Marianne. Daniel and Marianne Antonellis are two of the most wonderful caring people. Each time we bring our Golden Retriever over, she is so very excited to spend the day there. They love, love, love dogs, and it is very evident that they take care of each dog as if they were their own. They are able to establish safe boundaries, but still allow for the dogs to play with them, and with each other in a manner that socializes and most importantly- tires them out!! I did a lot of research before selecting a home away from home for our little one. After reading reviews and soliciting feedback from friends, PAWS did come up a few times. We have been taking our little Havanese Bingley to PAWS since he was 3 months old. Daniel, Marianne and their team have always done a phenomenal job caring for him. He's a little pup weighing in at under 10 lbs. They always make sure that he's with like sized friends during play group time. We have had him visit just for the day to get some energy out, and had him stay with them for over a week on more than a few occasions. Bingley can be a little timid and would have no hesitation to bark if he felt uneasy. It's a classic contradiction every time we approach; first he's sad because he knows he may not see us for a bit. Then as soon as we get in the office, he's wagging his tail. When we go to pick him up, he darts all over the office because he's excited to be reunited with us, then he whines on the way home because he misses his furry friends. Usually however, within minutes he's asleep! From all perspectives, they take health very seriously. They follow up after every visit with a note asking how Bingley is doing. They are also judicious with making sure that all guests are up to date on their required vaccinations. Personally, I'm glad they do this because I know my dog is in good company. To sum it up, PAWS is run with the operational integrity of a 5 star resort, with the personal touch of a New England Bed & Biscuit. Our family would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Daisy, my 5 year old golden retriever, has been going to Paws since I adopted her in 2009. It is her only chance to run off leash and play with other dogs and she loves it. I can tell because her tail starts wagging and her ears perk up when I pull in the driveway . Daniel and Paul are great with our furry friends. I like seeing the videos and pics of the dogs playing on their Facebook page. I have read a couple of negative reviews and believe that misunderstandings sometimes occur. It is unfortunate that they did not work out a mutually agreed upon solution to the issue before brandishing off a harsh review. All I can say is that other dog owners that I have talked to while picking up or dropping off their four legged family member had nothing but good things to say about Paws. The staff are friendly and absolutely love dogs-its clear from the moment we walk in with Marley that she is a welcomed guest. We brought our daughter (1 year old) in with us to drop her off this last time and the people behind the front desk had a puppy in a crate. Seeing our daughter looking at the pup, they took him out and brought him over for her to pet. They are personable and professional and I hate to see a review like the harsh critique below try to take down a family business. Trying to get ahold of anyone is near impossible by phone and by email takes forever. Not allowed to see the facility before bringing pup for daycare which is a huge red flag. Didn't get a good vibe from the staff, something seemed off, not very friendly. I paid for the day in the morning and they charged my wife again when she picked the pup up. They would not give her a receipt for the payment. When she turned around, went back and mentioned that we had paid in the morning, they said I never paid but agreed to refund the money to her. They have many rules that seem a bit excessive and told us we would be quizzed on their packet of rules when we returned to pick up our pup. They excessively stressed not to allow our pup drink or eat for 30 min after picking her. Sorry, but i'm paying you to watch my dog, not tell me how to raise my dog. We only looked for a new doggy daycare because our current was in the opposite direction of our work, i would rather drive the extra distance. read more

We have been sending our dogs to Paws for probably 10 years now. We started with our previous dog because we were using another local kennel that actually charged extra for a 30 minute outdoor play time when being kenneled there, and it truly was being run like a warehouse for dogs. We love the fact that at Paws the dogs are outside for most of the day playing which is included in the rate, and they really do care about Ellie when she is there. We send Ellie once a week for "daycare" so she gets her interaction playing with other dogs, and we use them to board. Ellie will be going soon again to board while we are away. We love the fact that when we pick Ellie up from boarding she is her normal happy self, albeit tired from all the play time, and not sad/depressed like our old dog coming back from the other kennel we used to use. Daniel and Maegan truly are the best, they live on-site, and truly care for the dogs and their owners. On a couple of occasions Ellie was dropped off past the normal time, or picked up a little late, and we never received any "attitude" from them, just a reminder of the drop off/pick up times. I like the fact that they don't allow visitors in at any time of the day which I could see as being very upsetting to the dogs. Whenever anyone is looking for a place to take their dogs Paws is the first and only place I will recommend. read more

Our dog Odin, just spent 15 days at PAWS, and had an absolutely wonderful time! I couldn't have been happier with the level of attention they provided, keeping us informed of anything they thought might be a concern. This was our first time leaving him for so long, and we definitely missed him a lot, but felt good about where he was. They were very responsive when we checked in on Odin via email, and we were even lucky enough to see a video of Odin on their Facebook page, which was great! We also send Odin for play days occasionally too (doggie daycare), and he loves it! He's still a puppy (10 months old), so the socialization he gets playing all day is important and helps him learn about and from other dogs. We love the fact that the dogs get to play all day long, supervised of course, and that someone is always nearby 24/7 in case of an emergency. I have a hard time reading the negative review below as it is clearly stated multiple times before you even sign up your dog that there are very specific drop off and pick up times. We manage our schedule around it in order to give our pup a full day of fun. I would think that a very fragmented schedule of dogs coming and going all day would be horrible for all the dogs. Our dog Henry has a good time every time he goes .. I can tell because he goes nuts as soon as we pull into the PAWS driveway and is all tuckered out when he gets home. Daniel and Marianne are the absolute BEST!! My old lab, Bruce spent 10 long days with them. When we picked him up - it was quite obvious that he was extremely well taken care of. He did not re-act to us like he has in the past, when we have taken him to other places. I know he is tired, and he must have had a wonderful time. He ate all of his two meals a day, which he normally would skip a meal. I highly recommend this Bed and Bisquit to anyone who needs a place a great place for their dog. Pet owners understand that dogs are members of your family. My husband and I rescued our "Chloe" 2 years ago when she was 4 years old. Being a rescue, Chloe is timid and anxious about new people and experiences. She is also a Weimaraner, which means she is super high energy. I was referred to PAWS last year and was a little skeptical about boarding Chloe at all. From the first meeting, Daniel put me at ease. He answered all of my questions and explained their philosophy about ensuring the dogs get to play most of the day so that they get their exercise and reduce anxiety. On our first visit, I brought Chloe to play for the day and she LOVED it! As my husband and I travel often, we have boarded Chloe at PAWS and have also taken her to "daycare" just to keep up her socialization. I am so grateful to have found a place that Chloe loves and that I trust! read more

I don't like to leave bad reviews, but after the events of the last few days, I feel this one is necessary. We chose to board our two dogs at PAWS Bed & Biscuit after learning that our normal kennel was already full over the Fourth of July week/weekend. The place looked nice and the people were friendly enough when I dropped off our dogs. We then headed out of state to spend the long weekend with family that we only get to see about once per year. To our surprise, a few days into our trip we received a phone call at 6:30am (7:30am Eastern time) letting us know that our dogs were "very sick" and we needed to get in contact with the kennel ASAP. I immediately returned the phone call and was told that both of our dogs had contracted an upper respiratory infection of some kind (severe coughing, etc.) and that someone would need to come pick them both up as an outbreak like this could be "devastating to a small business" like their own (he repeated this phrase to me several times - showing much more concern for his business than for our "very sick" dogs). Since we are fairly new to the area, we did not have anyone that we knew that would be able to go pick up our dogs. Out of concern for the health of our dogs, we promptly called the airline and chalked up $350 to change our flight home to that very day. We also then were forced to waste $100 on a non-refundable hotel reservation. After several hours at the airport, on the plane, an hour drive to the kennel and much stress worrying about our pups, we finally arrived to the kennel at 9:00pm. It was only then that we were made aware that what started this whole thing was that one of the dogs had thrown up (he couldn't remember which one); which, as far as I'm concerned, is not anything too out of the ordinary for a dog, especially when he is out of his normal elements and doing a lot of playing/romping around with other dogs. In the end, we wasted a lot of time, money and stress over some "very sick dogs" that are in perfectly good health. We have been home now for over a day and we've yet to see any symptoms or signs that would indicate that our dogs are ill in any way. They are both acting completely normal, wagging their tails, haven't coughed once, and eating and drinking as normal. Most of all, due to the kennel over-reacting and their being ill-prepared for an event such as this, we lost out on precious time with family that we only get to see about once a year. I won't tell you not to board your dog here, but I will tell you that I definitely do not recommend this kennel. Despite having what appears to be a nice facility (although I never heard a dog bark either time we were there, which I find odd), I question their ability to properly handle situations that should be fairly routine for a dog kennel. We will certainly NOT be back. read more
