Been meaning to write this for ages, but now that I'm getting more than 2 consecutive hours of sleep a night (wait, did I really just type that!?) I must! I started Bar Method back in August of 2012, when my first child was about 10 months. After my first class (which was a gift from my husband, don't judge, I asked for it!) I couldn't make it up the stairs to my house (we only have 3 steps). I was hooked instantly and told all of my friends about my new found obsession. I had danced my way through high school and college but after a back injury and my first kiddo my fitness went out the window and so did my flexibility. Bar Method targeted muscles I never knew I had and literally changed the shape of my legs. I had always hated my thighs and after a few months of classes I remember trying on a pair of shorts and doing a double take. The back of my legs weren't all lumpy anymore but actually felt flat. I'm sure there's a technical term for that, but you know what I mean. Major change!! When I found out I was pregnant with number two I knew I had to commit to continuing my classes. Both of my pregnancies I've had hyperemesis gravidum (made famous by Princess Kate) that requires me to be on a zofran pump, but I was still determined that I would keep working out. OB approved I made it to classes whenever I could. My OB loved the idea of a low impact workout that I could tailor to my growing body. Even with sneaking out during abs (because that wouldn't be pretty) I always felt better and stronger after each class. I continued until my doctor told me I needed to stay put (about 34 weeks) and vowed to start back up as soon as I could. I credit Bar Method to my second delivery being crazy fast with a quick recovery. As my husband likes to say, baby #2 was express delivery service, with no doctor making it in time and barley a chance to slip out of my forgiving lulu pants and into a gown! Pretty sure my calm attitude and breathing during delivery was all credited to Bar, who needs Lamaze!? I'll never forget my husband exclaiming "it's a boy." My response was "I feel so much better!" Recovery was awesome, in and out of the hospital in 24 hours, a completely different experience then my first baby. Six weeks after baby arrived I was ready to start back but with two little ones couldn't get out that much. I began using the "Dancers Body" DVD at home with a bar and although I'd rather be in class, the at home option is great for a mom with little ones and some free nap time. Within 2 weeks I started losing the baby weight, finishing Marnie Alton's sentences, and not laughing out loud at the "standing split" option. Once I got back into the actual studio I dropped the last stubborn pounds and felt myself toning again. When my fiends talk about fears of having more children because of the wear and tear on their bodies I tell them about Bar Method! Their husband's reallllly appreciate this ("wait, what, you want another one!?"). I love how the instructors know your name and can help you with adjustments throughout class to ensure you get the best workout for you. The modifications available and the optional challenges are so wonderful. It's so nice to do a workout where I can protect my old back injury and push myself in other areas where I feel stronger without causing pain. Bar Method was my first "boutique" studio based class that I had decided to attend. I thought I would be a little intimidated, but from the first time I walked through the door, I have always felt that I was a part of a wonderful fitness-minded family! The instructors are very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They have always made me feel comfortable with their ability to acknowledge each student as an individual and assist them in achieving the maximum results the Bar Method classes have to offer. After just a few classes I noticed that my posture had improved along with my flexibility. Aside from being a challenging (and fun) workout that targets all muscles in my body, the classes always leave me feeling more energized and eloquent. I few months ago, I suggested to my daughter that she attend a class with me. After the first class she became totally hooked! We have really enjoyed being able to attend classes together along with one of my daughter's friends (who also became hooked after the first class). I have tried other workout programs including utilizing a personal trainer and bar method is the best program hands down. The instructors are highly trained and help you if your are not in the correct position so you don't injure yourself. Not all other bar programs are the same as bar method especially from a place of keeping you safe. It's like having a personal trainer, but better. I also love that you have a lot of regulars that go at the same time so you become a little workout family. I am not flexible, but I am slowly working on it. They meet you where you are and there is no pressure to keep up with the person next to you although it is a good motivator. I HIGHLY recommend Bar Method Plano for anyone that is wanting to get a great cardio workout while toning your muscles as the same time. read more

I am addicted to the Bar Method! I have done so many different exercise routines in my lifetime..... none have given me the results that the Bar Method has. I have been a runner for many years but was starting to experience pain in my hips and other areas. I considered physical therapy but decided to try the Bar Method first and work on my flexibility. I can say that after only 4 classes I could feel and see the definition in my arms and after a couple of weeks......the aches and pains in my hips started to fade!!!! I am thrilled......I look forward to class and my days aren't the same anymore if I have to miss. The instructors are awesome and the atmosphere is relaxing and fun. The Bar Method in Plano, Texas is the best exercise studio I have ever been in! Marin and her staff are passionate about the Bar Method technique and do a fabulous job leading and instructing! The studio is gorgeous and the workout is upbeat and very challenging! I have been taking several classes weekly for over three years and continue to feel inspired and challenged every single time I attend! Bar Method Plano is a great place to go for a full body workout and to be surrounded and encouraged by awesome members that are looking to work hard and have fun! When I discovered the Bar Method my body was ready for a different workout! I love The Bar Method Plano! I usually run for my exercise, but I hate running in the cold weather and I needed to focus more on toning- so this has been a nice change to my work-out schedule. My favorite part about this exercise is that it combines intense work-outs with stretching. These classes get your heart rate up without making you jump/run around like crazy. It focuses on toning your entire body. I feel stronger AND more flexible. I also like the diversity of the classes - all ages, body shapes, beginners and advanced. The Bar Method is the most fabulous overall workout a person can get. The instructors are superior. Each class is like a "Box of Chocolates." You never know what you are going to get, as each class is a wonderful surprise. I have never been disappointed. You leave at the end of the class, "thankful" that you came. I personally, have lost inches, my core is strengthened and my posture improved in just six weeks. When you are in class, you forget about the outside world -- concentrating on cues for each routine working your muscles groups. I am a runner and always looking for ways to work on my body core muscles, been using cross training and Yoga classes for several years but after my wife introduced me to Bar Method, I must say I was very impressed by depth of exercises they offer which is mainly focuses on core muscles, exactly what I needed. I have been going for over 3 years and still enjoy the exercises etc....it has helped with muscles, posture, balance etc....all of the instructors are very courteous and helpful. It is amazing after going for so long I still sweat and enjoy the classes!! All the other gyms and work out places I have left but I know I will stick around for more great classes. The Bar Method Plano is an amazing studio where the teachers truly care about you and they are well-trained.
