The bomb. It kinda feels like a cool-girl club that you're automatically a member of when u walk through the door. Every instructor is not just friendly, but learns your name (instantly) and takes extra care of you throughout the class. They focus a lot of attention on checking your form, and helping you get to the right position safely and effectively. At first I thought it was kind of pricey, but honestly you get what you pay for with these kind of things. It's the real deal, and totally worth every penny. Not gonna lie, I've done it for about 4 months and my friends and family have made numerous comments/questions about how I'm getting so toned (and no, I haven't changed my diet)! I went to the bar method Honolulu for a little over a month before moving back to the mainland. In that time I did not hear of anyone who wasn't happy after class. The bar method Honolulu staff got me hooked and I'm now continuing going to classes in Southern California! The staff is absolutely wonderful; Elaina, Tiana, and Heidi run a tight ship over there! They are all dedicated to making sure that you're doing the exercises right and that you're enjoying the workout. Their attitude in class keeps the mood of the class light even when you're doing the most difficult moves. The studio is beautiful. There is a nice beachy feel and a great view of the valley from the window in the exercise room. There's a shower with all the amenities and lockers for your things. Also, this workout has done amazing things for my body. I ended my collegiate athletic career in the spring and had gotten pretty out of shape before coming to the bar method. I began to feel my body changing after the first couple of classes and after five weeks my body has completely changed. I feel much more fit now and strong in a way I haven't felt before. Hands down the absolute best complete workout ever! Beautiful place lockers for your belongings, showers and even some refreshments. Parking is a minimum so get there early, though probably it was my personal feeling is that as a knowing I was a first timer I wasn't treated properly during the workout being shuffled everywhere which was not comfortable at all, description from workout to workout at times were vague instead of shown I was relying on others what was going on. The teachers pay attention to form and help you to protect your joints and body by correcting you if your not in the right form. Each teacher has their own style which i like. Also the class times always vary so if your schedule is changing, you can at least make it to one class during the day. read more

I love the bar method. It's a great low impact but high intensity workout. I see the effects on my body bc I'm stronger and my muscles are more toned/lean. The studio is clean and teachers are great, as many have already said. What I love is that this type of exercise works and minimizes risk of injury; plus it's fun. I like to think of myself as a pretty active/athletic person. I run on a regular basis, take boxing classes and hike at least once a week. I can say that all of that means NOTHING when you take your first class at the Bar Method Honolulu. It's about 4 days after taking my first class, and some of my muscles are still mad at me for it. First off, the location is great, lots of street parking and even parking in the lot. Secondly, the staff is amazing. The person who I emailed to arrange my appointment, was the same one who greeted me and walked me through a tour of the facility. She introduced me to the instructor, Kelly, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. She walked me to lockers that are available to the patrons (they even have a shower and fully stocked bathroom). The facility is beautiful and fresh, very modern looking and clean. Let me just tell you about the class though. The class starts off with warm ups with weights, and progresses in difficulty with different exercises at the bar and uses your body weight. Kelly the instructor walked around the class and corrected posture for those in the class rather than stood in the front of the class and did the exercise. That was really helpful, especially for a first-timer like me. She remembered everyone's name which I thought was amazing and very nice and personal. I absolutely LOVE the Bar Method, and the Honolulu Bar Method is my #1 "happy place." I stepped into the studio on June 7, 2016, and I have come back everyday since (sometimes twice a day). I've just completed my 50th Bar class in 6 weeks, losing 6 lbs. in the process. I am still far from my goal, but the spa-like environment, welcoming atmosphere, and fun but extremely challenging workout keep me coming back day after day. The amazing teachers and staff know everyone by name, and the sorority-like camaraderie keeps drawing me back. I have both rekindled old friendships as well as made new ones. The new studio in Kailua is beautiful! White thick carpet, natural lighting comes in through the windows, nice and cool with fans and ac. There were so many instructors helping us as it was my first class. I was amazed at how many names the instructor remembered as we were mostly new. I have so many positive things to say about the Bar Method! The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. There are a number of classes available throughout the day. It would be awesome to offer a few more to accommodate the growing number of customers. There are various options for parking, which you will want to secure early to make it to classes on time. The exercises are great for people of all ages and sizes. The Bar Method is not like any other place where you feel intimidated by the regulars or the well-toned, active and flexible bodies but a place where people influence/ support each other while engaging themselves in a fun full-body work out. Still a new student I am slowly getting into the rhythm of things and loosening up my body that participates in no physical workout aside from having and chasing my kids. I paid $100 for one class. I had initially signed up for a month long pass, but after a tragic incident, I had to stop working out for a couple of months. I called in a timely manner and tried to explain my situation in hopes of putting a hold on my month long pass but when I called, the woman who answered said she couldn't even find me in their system. She said it was most likely an error and that she would call me back once they fixed the technical issues... when she called me back, said she didn't have time to help me. She said that she would get back to me in a few days when she had time for me, but she never called back. For a place that looks to empower women (as I had hoped they would do), they certainly didn't care about me. I can't believe I paid $100 for one class and I truly can't believe they feel OK charging me that amount. read more

Love love love Bar Method in Honolulu!! I've tried Sweat & Soul and Pure Barre and Bar Method is by far the best! I've had the opportunity to be in Sonny, Danielle and Meghan's class and they're all excellent teachers! My only critique is that the 5:15/5:30p classes are always full because everyone wants to be there! I appreciate the hands on correction and the teacher's attention to proper positions in order to help us avoid getting injured. I would love to continue to attend Bar Method..but it's not very cost effective for me. (That's not their problem though, that's more mine). Seriously felt the benefits of the workouts instantly! I'll definitely be telling (and already have been)/ recommending those who are looking for a workout class to attend, that they should definitely check this place out! read more

The Bar Method is a fun, low-impact yet highly challenging workout. I really enjoyed the class, although it's simply not the workout I can see myself doing routinely. The space itself is gorgeous: neutral beachy colors, hardwood floors, plush carpets, and soft lighting. They truly have achieved the "spa" vibe with fragrant candles flickering around the well air-conditioned studio. Shoes off at the door. Lockers (and keys), as well as use of the shower and various hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, face wash, etc), are complimentary. We began the class with some dynamic stretching, high-knees, butt-kickers, etc, and then dove right into the Bar Method's signature exercises: the repetition of small, intensely focused movements. We engaged our cores, biceps, triceps, pecs, glutes, quads, hamstrings- the works. The first class can be a little fast-paced. I would've appreciated it if Tiana had slowed down when speaking and clearly explained the moves so that we could've known what was going on (instead of exchanging sweaty, confused gazes with each other). However, I only found myself lost a handful of times, and I'm sure I'd get the hang of things if I returned for more classes. While my quads were certainly quivering after this class, I think I'll stick to my good old cardio and hot yoga for now. read more

I'm giving this place one star. It gets a half star for Danielle the instructor who was awesome and peppy and cheery early in the morning, and it gets another half star for the class format (barre) which I had no idea what that was before taking the class. I am an ex-Jazzercise instructor, current Zumba student, and current P.E. teacher so I was interested in taking one of these classes because I was recently released from physical therapy to work out again after two major back surgeries this past year. Having put on 40 lbs from it - I'll try anything! The class itself was great! I was sore for a couple days after and shaking walking down the stairs to my car (it's on the 2nd floor). It was different than any aerobics class I've ever taken and I am huge fan of group X classes. I would have totally signed up and returned because I was invited by TWO friends to join them last Friday for the class. I enjoy working out with my friends and they were both excited to have me join them being we also attend Zumba classes together. We even enjoyed a nice coffee date together afterwards. Great Friday morning right? WRONG! My whole experience was completely convoluted by this raging bitch Renee that worked the front desk. After having drove around for parking forever because there was none, I FINALLY found a spot and walked to the facility. I was 5 minutes early instead of 15 (not my fault there's like 20 spots in the whole lot and an entire strip mall plus 30 people in the class) which pissed her off because apparently you HAVE to be early. Then I left my purse in a corner... on the floor... in the lobby... not in anyone's way, which is not allowed. Well my SERVICE DOG who travels EVERYWHERE with me including to work was in the purse. I explained to her that she would go COMPLETELY undetected and no one would even realize she was there. That's what an actual service dog does. She wouldn't even listen to an explanation or look at the service vest, I.D. card, keychain license I had or any paperwork I OFFERED to show her (which I don't even legally have to offer up!). She just kept looking away, not making eye contact repeating, "That's not the point! That's not the point!" when I asked her if a single person in the class even realized the dog was there for an hour. Well YES BITCH - it IS the point! It IS the point because I've spent over $3k actually TRAINING this dog, she has passed MULTIPLE tests, still attends police canine training weekly for $75/hour EVERY damn time and I have MULTIPLE doctor notes explaining exactly WHAT she is trained for. Renee did NOT want to hear it. She didn't even want me to stay and take the class! Her excuse was that they don't allow children to even sit in the lobby during class, let alone dogs. This is not an emotional support animal - this is an actual HIGHLY TRAINED service dog with paperwork to fly legitimately back and forth from my 2 homes in CA to my house here in HI. She is approved by both the FAA to fly in the cabin for free and approved to skip Hawaii quarantine with the Dept. of Agriculture. She is also the first dog in 58 years to be approved by the co-op condo association where we live because they spent thousands on a lawyer to keep us from purchasing our condo and the lawyer researched her training, doctor notes, & certifications and said there was nothing they could do. She could actually SIT on my damn mat at barre class and be within my legal rights. Let me know if you actually know any dogs you could tell to sit and stay outside a classroom for AN HOUR completely undetected, not barking, not moving, and staying leash free like my dog did during class. I GUARANTEE not ONE single person in that class other than my two friends even knew or realized there was a dog there! Renee was not friendly, not welcoming, not nice, was even rude to my friend who invited me that IS A MEMBER, and is completely misinformed about service animals. I don't know how she is working a front desk in customer service. She wouldn't even shut up long enough to listen to me explain anything to her. "That's not the point. That's not the point." Well, YES that is the point. And I certainly WON'T be returning with my two friends who keep asking me to, because this place needs to research ACTUAL service animals & the law. read more

Love the Bar Method! I've been going to class for half a year now and I'm addicted to it. I've always worked out a lot but I think Bar Method is THE BEST body shaping workout there is! I especially love the level 2 classes and Danielle is my favorite teacher! I tried other bar classes before, like Pure Barre, but did not like it as much. I think the The Bar method space is much nicer, the workout room has a window and the carpet is more comfortable. I also like that the music isn't too loud so I can still understand the instructors which I had trouble with at Pure Barre. I truly enjoy going to class at the Bar Method Honolulu! I was a bit skeptical that I'd like the barre classes here but I decided to give it a fair try. From the first step in the door the staff was really friendly & welcoming. Its very clean & kept well. The amenities are superb: shower, locker, all the bathroom amenities, water cooler, even coffee machine. They give you a tour of the place so that you're not completly lost. The popular class times fill up pretty quick so it's recommended to sign up a bit in advanced. Its an online system which makes scheduling easy & convenient. The instructor is down right awesome. She makes it a point know your name & make you feel welcomed in the class. Correction is given when needed and you're not out there using bad technique, which I totally appreciate. The workout seemed a bit slow at first but OMG was I shaking and quivering before I knew it. It's an awesome workout. I enjoyed it thoroughly and couldn't wait to come back. The only bad thing is that they're up on the second floor. I had to hold on to the railings going down. But that's a good sign I think. Would definitely recommend this workout to everyone. read more

I started coming to Bar Method Honolulu in April and after three months of classes, I'm hooked! I really enjoy the classes, as well as the instructors. The classes are fast-paced and the instructors are full of energy and consistently engage with students throughout the class and are always available to adjust and/or correct students so that they are able to get the most out of their workout! The classes are challenging and the different postures and positions can be altered in order to accommodate each student's physical limitations and/or abilities. Although the class lasts a full 60 minutes, I never feel like I'm counting down the minutes before the class is over, which has been a welcome surprise. I noticed differences in my body, including my breathing, posture and strength, within the first few weeks. The studio space itself is very clean. Lockers are provided to students so that you are able to store your belongings during the duration of the class. Ample parking is available in the lot below; there has never been an instance where I had to look for street parking, although that is an option if the lot is ever full. I try to arrive about 10-15 minutes before class begins in order to avoid the need to hunt for street parking. The best part about The Bar Method Honolulu besides the great workout has to be the staff. The staff is so welcoming and greets everyone by name when you arrive (I don't know how they do it!). GO!! I have worked out 4-6 days a week for my entire life. Not once have I ever stuck with a group class. I never felt like I got enough out of it, not consistently challenged, or I would easily get sick of the routine of it. I currently attend classes at Bar Method 3-5 times a week and can tell you that I definitely believe in it! Although a pattern is followed - ensuring that each class is a full body workout - each class is always different and always challenging. The most notable thing is that the instructors are very professional and knowledgeable. Although they are warm and encouraging, their prime concern is attention to form and alignment for each individual throughout an entire class session. They ensure that everyone gets all that they can from the session and help you push yourself past any mental barriers. At any class, you will find a complete age range of members. Beginners will NOT feel awkward or behind - they will be given the attention they need, just as the rest of the class. Bring a friend. Bring your man. Go alone. Such an amazing workout!!! Its different than any other typical workout class... when the instructor asks you to do something it sounds so easy, but then when you do it you feel the burn... Ha! Its not super hard and lots of fun! You definitely feel sore days later and I love that... On top of the high quality of classes the studio space is beautiful. Its clean, open, with a shower, locker spaces for your stuff, and a couch area to drink coffee/tea and chat... I recommend everyone give it a try. Its the type of exercise that anyone would love... I love The Bar Method. I came to my first class at the Honolulu studio with my sister-in-law earlier this month and I have been addicted ever since. The studio is cool, clean, and pretty. The workouts are challenging, but they are really fun and effective. I love that the instructors motivate and guide, but also correct individual form. When I came back to California, I got a sweet postcard from Elaina that also referred me to the nearest studio, where I am now enjoying my first few weeks of unlimited membership! Even though the location I'm at now is great, I can't wait to come back and visit the Honolulu studio!! read more
