    Beautiful yard with huge trees

Location location location close to all the attractions and restaurants, best place to stay on the Keys! Resort is beautiful with Banyan trees surrounding the villas, so peaceful yet in the middle of the action, highly recommended!!

We have stayed at The Banyan a number of times over the past 15 years and have always enjoyed it. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we bought a week five years ago. The location cannot be beat. It is one block off Duval st and within walking distance of everything. If you fly into Key West airport, resist the urge to rent a car and just take a cab from the airport. The complex consists of six- 1800s era homes which have been turned into one and two bedroom timeshares/suites. Each room is a bit different due to the existing architecture. We've stayed in a two bedroom unit, a one bedroom unit and a unit with a sleeping loft and enjoyed each one. Depending on the unit's location, traffic noise can be a bit loud and the ever present "time challenged" roosters who crow day and night are an annoying bit of local flavor. The landscaping is absolutely gorgeous. You really feel like you are in a tropical paradise. There are two smallish pools and a tiki bar. They never seem to feel overly crowded. The tiki bar has free coffee for the early risers. Parking is a challenge. They have a couple of small lots on site (where timeshare owners get first dibs) and an overflow lot a block or so away. I've parked in both with no problem. Parking is paid but hey, it's Key West. Parking is a horror everywhere in Old Town. I have always found the housekeeping staff to be accommodating. The housekeeping terms are clearly spelled out in advance. Heck, they even wash and fold your laundry for $6.00 per load. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can rent bicycles on site for $25 per week and the staff is full of tips on activities and restaurants. The towel/key deposits are a bit annoying. However, given the areas "party town" reputation and the college students that surge in a couple of times a year, I guess I understand why they do it. Rates are pretty reasonable given the average lodging cost in the Keys. If you are two couples traveling together, try for a 2 bedroom unit and share costs. That make sit down right reasonable. It's great to have a living room and kitchen to hang out in. As the Governator says, I'll be back...

My wife has been coming here for years and brought me for my first time this year. These are apartment style rooms, which is great since we were able to cook for ourselves a couple times! The proximity to Duval Street and all of the downtown area is amazing. We rented bikes for the week and that was all we needed! The staff was friendly and helpful, and they kept the grounds clean daily. Would highly recommend. This resort also has a really cool history of you're into it!

This is the perfect place! I couldn't even try to find anything wrong..... The location, the ambiance with the trees, the nice updated rooms, the cute little bar, the secluded pool, the staff, the price.... If I could give it 10 stars I would! I live in south Florida and this made me feel like I was in another world. Vacation spot for sure..... I will DEFINITELY be back! Love this place! Happy is an understatement ... I feel blessed and thankful..... So glad I found this place!(-; PARADISE= Banyon Resort!

Location, location, location! The Banyan resort is in the heart of Key West and walking distance to EVERYTHING! The hotel is charming with wrap around white porches, beautiful lush foliage, intimate pools, shaded flowery walkways and cool front desk staff. We stayed in a one bed room apartment and it was HUGE! We had a full and functional kitchen, living room with pull out couch (which was super uncomfortable), comfy bed and spacious bathroom. We even had our own private wrap around porch and pool! We only shared the pool with 3 other apartments which was NICE! Our little Key West home away from home was perfect! One of the downfalls is that there is no front desk or house keeping staff after 11PM and parking being $20... But hey it's Key west and everywhere charges for parking. The Banyan Resort is a timeshare so the resort gives priority on property parking to time share owners and then non-timeshare guests. We did not have a timeshare but arrived at noon and were able to park on site. So I guess the key is arriving early to get a spot! Get the ultimate Key West experience and live like a resident in the Conch Republic and stay at the Banyan Resort. It is absolutely wonderful and a nice change from the typical chain hotel experience!

    1 bedroom with queen bed

Very nice place, especially if you need a Multiple bed option. The staff is very nice and the property is well cared for. We stayed in a 1 bedroom that offered a mini kitchen, dinette and a living room with a pull out bed. Additional amenities: Two pools (1 adult only) and a hot tub plus a tiki bar. Off-street parking for $25/day. The positive and the minus was the location. Great location for walking to Duval but woke up at all hours due to our location facing the street.

The Banyan Resort is amazing. It's our last day here and we're enjoying it poolside. Very friendly staff and a chill environment.

Front desk manager is clueless and don't know how to handle issues and he has kids working for him who do not know how to handle anything. They are like teenagers. We wish we had checked out and stayed at Marquesa hotel instead. But everyone was at the same hotel for the weekend so we stuck it out. For the price point, ones expectations are commensurate and this place was not even in the same universe as other hotels charging the same rate. The hotel is right on the water but in key west, the same can also be said for a gas station. Right away you know there's a problem because the elevator to reception smells like rotting seaweed (sargassum). The reception area seems like a guest room that was adapted and its small and dark and doesn't work. Then you get to the guest rooms from the year 1985 with chair railing and crown molding that has never seen a magic eraser in its life. Covered in 40 years of dust and who knows what else. The blinds have never been dusted or replaced in 40 years. Are you getting the picture? The head board had mystery smears on it. Floors were filthy with 40 years of accumulated dust. We dared not step one toe into the murky pool. We watched as guests sat there for hours, drink after drink, and never got out. Not even to use the bathroom? Ewwww. Every day the streets flood with high tide and poor civil planning so coming and going from the hotel means wading in ankle deep water and probably sewage, which is probably why the elevator smells so terribly. No wonder all the associates there seem so sad. I would be too if I worked there. I was sad for the resources and time spent here that I wont get back.

We've stayed here several times over the years, including during the renovations, so we've seen the resort through all its phases. One thing we've learned is that if you have a special request, just ask , they're happy to help whenever they can. Our two-bedroom suite was perfect for our family. We love the layout and found it incredibly comfortable. While many guests prefer the ocean-view rooms, we actually enjoy them, even with the occasional cruise ship in the harbor. Besides, you're in Key West! Take a walk and explore, you'll find gorgeous ocean views all around the island. The location truly couldn't be better. You're within walking distance of Duval Street, Mallory Square, great restaurants, shopping, and so many Key West attractions. A female guest was verbally cornered and aggressively berated by an enraged male patron over a minor non-issue involving a bird near the family pool deck. Despite multiple eyewitnesses, who were asked to confirm the woman did nothing wrong and that the man was the sole aggressor, hotel security decided to de-escalate his threatening behavior. In addition, it seems security contacted local police on behalf of the man to have the female guest and her children removed under threat of arrest. We fully understand that this hotel is private property and management has the right to enforce rules on its premises. However, paying patrons also have rights. One of them is the right to a safe environment and fair treatment. Using private property rights to shield an aggressive patron while penalizing a victimized woman is a complete failure of duty of care. As a paying guest, watching management handle this safety concern the way it did was alarming and disappointing. While this was a verbal assault and not a physical assault, it should not diminish the fact that the female patron responded to the man to de-escalate using logic instead of emotions. To the mom - please reach out here via message to let us know you are safe and sound with your family. We tried reaching out through the hotel and on OoenTable/Google Business. Hope you're doing ok now! To the man with anger issues on principle - just because you thought your child (and the woman's children) may have overheard a swear word when a bird was being shooed away from tainting the pool water, it could have stopped with you. Teach your child to not say that word instead of dressing down a mom in public for your audience. This could be a core memory for children and adults, especially those who witness this in the home. My own children, who watched this performance, said to me they were worried the argument would turn physically violent. I'm happy it didn't, but it did ruin our afternoon. We have not been back to the family pool since then. Life is short, my brother, and you got your free drink. Please choose better next time. There was no need to get security and local police involved. I am sharing this with you, sir, and others here because I, too, have anxiety and PTSD from work, life, and other challenges. It's an ongoing process, and never too late to work through it.
