Taylor Ham, 2 Eggs, and Cheese Sandwich
Heidi P.

The service was quick and the food was very well priced. They have $2 any size ice coffee which is great. It's small inside so it's all take out. It wasn't the best THEC I've had but the bagel was soft and it was super tasty! Normally I only eat half my THEC but I demolished this in 5 minutes which makes me feel like it was smaller than normal.. or maybe It was just that good

A definite must for breakfast! The bagels and rolls taste fresh and soft. The breakfast sandwiches are so good and are filling. The iced coffee was really good too and a great price. The lox was fresh too, definitely should try that. The chocolate chip muffin was delicious, perfect amount of sweetness. The hash browns were soft, not crispy at all which I prefer so I wouldn't order that again but I'll definitely be back for the breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee.

Bacon Bacon, 2 Eggs, and Cheese Sandwich (whole wheat)

The Bagel Store delivers that classic Jersey energy--starting with a guy yelling into his phone on the stoop, like a scene straight out of a movie. The whole vibe screams local, but they surprisingly take credit cards, which is a bonus. I grabbed the bacon, egg, and cheese on a whole wheat bagel (untoasted, as God intended), and it absolutely hit. Everything was melty and balanced--the kind of sandwich that doesn't need frills to be perfect. That double chocolate chip muffin? Unreal. Crispy edges, soft and chewy in the middle, rich but not over the top. Just pure satisfaction. Honestly, it stole the show. Parking's a bit of a lottery, but we got lucky. And even though I forgot to ask for ketchup on my wife's bagel, she still enjoyed every bite. That says a lot. Foil-wrapped goodness, napkins everywhere, a receipt tossed aside--no pretense, just proper bagels. California could never. This spot understands what breakfast should be: fast, messy, flavorful, and totally satisfying. Would absolutely go back, next time with ketchup.

Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese

Ordered a bagel and a hash brown from here today via DoorDash, requested a scooped-out bagel, and foolishly expected the bagel to at least be from today. What I received was a stale, unscooped bagel with such a little amount of cream cheese that it might as well have been dry. The hash brown was way undercooked, falling apart just trying to pick it up. There are too many good bagel shops in the area to waste your time with this mediocrity. You'd be better off with a sleeve of Lender's and a tub of Philly from the supermarket.

Decent breakfast and lunch spot. We DoorDash from here a lot and it's consistently good. Everything tastes fresh and is packaged well!

Home fries

I stopped here this morning on the way to a friend's house and wish I would've gone somewhere else. I ordered an everything bagel TOASTED and it's definitely not toasted at all. I also ordered a side of home fries which are flavorless. But the best part is I'm sitting here in my car eating them with my fingers because they don't give you any kind of utensils or napkins at all. It's a good thing I have napkins in my car but a fork or spoon would've been nice to be able to eat these properly. With the lack of flavor or taste in any of this food I would not go back to this place again, then add no utensils or napkins... hard pass. Go elsewhere. Waste of $12

HALF OF BACON

Yep. Just gna leave this post here.. Half piece of Bacon , egg and cheese which I had to take a photo, this is a what the f moment.. i dont knownwho the hell put my bagel together . Ive been coming here for years and ive always run into an issue here, wheter its smushed bagels which I saw the young lady choosing the worst bagels for me as I noticed her scrambling to the back of the bagel bin instead of the one in the front, borderline disrespected... as an in towner of Carlstadt that supports local business , this is poor practice and not acceptable. Place is runned by high schoolers on the weekend with ZERO customer retention and lack of empathy. Sorry, but not sorry.

Ok I'm adding an extra star. I have no idea how the math worked out. We got bagels, 1.5 lbs cream cheese, and three coffees with tax for $42? That's an amazing deal. I thought we ordered 2 dozen but I'm trying to count them out and we must have gotten 3 dozen for the price of 2. Am I taking crazy pills? How am I going to sleep tonight?

A really excellent bagel that had the perfect ratio of chewiness and texture. Had it with veggie cream cheese and was impressed.

How exactly am I supposed to divide this fairly without looking like the cheap friend who takes the larger piece? What makes this worse is that this was not cut by a new kid or someone learning the ropes. This was cut by one of the senior guys at the deli. The veteran. The supposed professional. Come on man, check your eyes. I literally felt robbed because I had to take the smaller half out of principle. No one should have to suffer like this over a sandwich. Food tasted fine, but the cut ruined the vibe. Do better. A straight line should not be this hard.

But the staff was incredibly welcoming right from the start, and that alone earns them five stars. You never know what to expect in a new neighborhood, but they set the tone immediately. The vibe of the restaurant is very comfortable. It is the kind of spot you walk into after a long day or a productive day and you just know you are about to eat something good. It feels like a family run place, even if it is not actually run by family. It has that warmth. You can tell it is an important part of the neighborhood. I even noticed pictures of community members on the wall, which says a lot. Now, the food. There is hot food, cold food, and plenty of items you can take home. I ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich, and let me tell you, it was the size of a skinny football. I am not exaggerating. It took me almost a day and a half to finish it. It tasted exceptional, and I actually had to stop myself from eating the whole thing in one sitting so I would not slip into a food coma. One tip, eat it while it is hot. That is when it is at its peak power. My friend agreed with me about the overall vibe and quality. If I am ever in the neighborhood again, I will gladly go out of my way just to try more of their dishes. You do not find spots like this easily. New York City has great food, but a place with this combination of warmth, quality, portion size, and charm is rare. In another city, this could easily be a reservation only spot packed every night. Here, it fits perfectly in the community. Great job to everyone there. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

That said, I'm not in the camp that every good restaurant is automatically a five-star spot. When everything is a five, it gets harder to separate the truly elite places, the hometown heroes, and the restaurants worth planning a trip around. Harold's lands for me as a very solid three-point-something, graciously rounded to four because they have a Marine Corps flag hung in reception. The food was good, the portions were whatever you make it, and the whole place has novelty value without feeling like a total gimmick. The sandwiches are large enough to satisfy a hungry, medium-sized guy without completely defeating him. And honestly, on a menu full of meat, my favorite thing may have been the healthy pickled salad/pickle bar situation -- bright, crunchy, and a great counterbalance to the heavier deli classics. My biggest knock was the service atmosphere. There seemed to be an army of staff, but not much interaction beyond their phones. Maybe I caught it at an off time, and maybe the place comes alive when it's packed, but that kept the experience from feeling warmer or more special. Overall: fun stop, good food, convenient location, and worth doing if you're passing through. Memorable four.
