Tried the new Clemente Way Sandwich today and it didn't disappoint. From the bread to the meats, it was delicious. Definitely highly recommended!! Pro move- order online and it'll be ready when you arrive.

No joke authentic Italian old school spot. No free samples so don't try the puppy dog eyes! They have sandwiches, bread, meats, and it's of other items from Italy!! Service is manageable and tolerable but just imagine the soup guy and tune down the volume Also come early if you have a shopping list - stuff goes by fast

    Amazing fresh sandwiches!!

What a phenomenal spot!! Great Italian groceries, a wide variety of hot and cold food, as well as freshly made sandwiches/wraps. Since it was my first visit, I got a complimentary chunk of fresh mozzarella.... amazing. We split the Clemente special and Donato sandwiches. We also tried 2 sides, the avocado and tomato salad and the mozzarella, arugula and tomato salad. Everything was amazing as well as the service. Definitely a great place!!

Hands down the best bakery in NJ . I understand why it is always packed !!!! Quality bread ,sandwiches , hot food , pizza , desserts & crew . The owners make everyone feel like family & it is a given that they do everything with love ! Must go visit !

    Bad old chicken

I ordered a chicken cutlet broccoli rabe and fresh mozzarella hero the chicken cutlet is old, and the meat was shiny and brown and to top it off they didn't even heat up the sandwich cutlets were cold broccoli rabe was cold bread was rock hard this sandwich was disgusting. they charged 18 dollars for this sandwich I really hope I don't get sick from the portion I ate. I very upset and i will have them reported. Don't eat here there selling old food because their prices are high and no one is buying. Be careful and look at your sandwich if you decide to eat here, I'M DISGUSTED HOW CAN YOU SELL ANYTHING LIKE THIS TO PEOPLE WHO SUPPORTS YOUR BUSINESS. IF I CAN GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD.

    Clemente Special Hero

Where is the meat? We ordered the Clemente special aka the Italian hero. The bread was hard and barely had any meat. The mozzarella was barely on the sandwich. We ordered oil and vinegar they forgot to put it on! How do you forget the oil and vinegar!!! The prices are ridiculous for getting a brick of bread and no meat. I used to order from them. It seems could be under new management. I will not be ordering from them again! Sad because it used to be a place to get a good hero and used to recommend the business.

Large Clemente Special and homemade chips
    Kyle V.

This was a fantastic spot for a lunch near Teterboro on a layover. The line moved rather quickly with 3 guys making sandwiches and filling orders. I ordered the Large Clemente Special with a side of their homemade chips. The sandwich was massive, the prices were reasonable, and the chips were tasty. I loved the sandwich even though I didn't know what was on it when I ordered. The menu isn't very descriptive so I just went off of other Yelp pictures and decided to try the special. The fresh bread they use was probably what made the sandwich so delicious. Combine the bread with the freshly sliced meat and my lunch was great. I'll definitely be back.

This place is unbelievable. Love the samples they force u to try.

Great sandwiches but a bit pricy. Their food is also good. Lunch time can be very busy, so if you go there, expect the place to be busy.

Boy, I gotta say I was not disappointed as soon as I walked in, I got a sense that I was definitely in the right spot. The look , feel & smell of it immediately brought me back to my cherished Jersey City roots. Everything on display looked fresh & inviting. The guy behind the counter (damn I don't recall his name) was super friendly & helpful in assisting me with my choices. Ordered the Godfather Sammy, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes & pulpo salad. Everything was delicious ! I travel will be back to NJ several times a year but I think I found my new "Go to spot" ! Just writing this review & thinking about my next trip up (in 3 days) has me salivating for another trip to this place. I will follow up this review with another very shortly to ensure that this wasn't just catching them on a good day but I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed. Stay tuned & I promise to include the counter guys name as he was Aces !

When I was in there, I saw the stuffed bread. After a bit of a conversation about what was in them I opted to get two of them one with broccoli Rabe And one with mixed vegetable vegetables. Boy were we both unhappy with what we got. My boyfriend's father found his braciole and sauce to be so salty it was inedible. He likes food and he is rarely disappointed in an Italian meal. But he said it was so bad that he couldn't even eat it. He ended up throwing it away. I was equally disappointed. Maybe more so. There was no way that vegetable roll was made that day let alone any sooner than two days before. It was so stale. It was hard as a rock. And I hadn't even heated it up. I cut into it right after I brought it home. It also tasted stale. I ended up throwing it away too. Broccoli Rabe roll was a tad better. It wasn't hard as a rock. But it wasn't fresh either. It tasted meh. The only thing I was happy with are the prepackaged taralli. They were imported and were lovely. Go there for the prepackaged imported food products. Don't waste your money on the dicey homemade food experience.

Nestled in an old world-like, half Sicilian half Albanian neighborhood, right across from the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Montevergine, the entire experience took us pleasantly back in time ... salumeria along the wall, aged provolone hanging from rope, and just about every handmade delicacy you could imagine.....and some new ones we hadn't seen before... Then there's .... the bread..... the bread.... Nowhere in America is there bread like this. This is the real deal (NOT the chain supermarkets--you know who you are) that offer supposedly "Italian" or "French" bread with marshmallow softness attributed to all the preservatives and polysorbate 80. No Signore, this bread contains all the goodness of that crispy crunchy exterior with pure angelic cloud interior that melts in your mouth! Bread this good can be eaten as dessert... (if there aren't any cannolis around).... Yeah they got those here too... We couldn't decide, and we were running late so we ended up grabbing a loaf of semolina bread just in from the oven and a container of Sicilian olives (with pits! Don't waste my time with pitted olives that taste like salted cardboard). Could say more but why? Veni e guarda (look and see for yourself)... Highly recommended. We'll be back! Ce' vediamo dopo.

Mr. Anzalone…read more(who turns 70 in June of 2025!) and Vitamia (nipping at his heels with about 60 years of being in the biz). I've made my way here now a few times and for whatever reason - Siri will only get me to the general area but just won't 'accept' Vitamia's specific/actual address. (I know I've 'arrived' when I see the crisscrossing of American and Italian flags at the start-and-end of the blocks denoting a very little Little Italy portion of the town.) And don't get me started on how jacked the entire length of Harrison Avenue is - causing my poor car's suspension and axle to suffer - or how much gas I usually waste when continually circling the block looking for a (legal) parking spot. Crankiness aside... for a small 'basic' deli they sure do pack a punch. An incredible selection of legit (crunchy) breads, a slew of prepared platters and meals in the refrigerated cases, all sorts of goodies hanging from hooks and then there's the freezer with an absurd amount of specialty ravioli, tortellini, tortelloni, mezzelune, cappelletti, gigante, agnolotti, fagottini... Two guys behind the counter (casually speaking Italian to each other) are able to keep up with all the foot traffic (that never seems to let up) and a few guys manning the ovens in the back that are continually refilling the metal bins by the cash register. (With 800 days of Duolingo under my belt I was tempted to try, "È delizioso. Mi dai la ricetta?" when leaving but flaked out and just went with, "Grazie mille!" which... fell flat.) Parking (as mentioned before) stinks. For every item I've tried and loved (stuffed breads, stuffed pastas) there's been a few that were major disappointments, unfortunately. Their pricing is a tad too rough on my wallet. On a prior visit I dropped over $80 and I made a mental not to not do that again. Most recent visit? Over $100. So, yeah... that's not good. (And just in case you give a hoot - Glenn Anzalone is better known by his stage name of 'Danzig'. Now go and crank some early Misfits songs and thank me later!)

These sandwiches aren't small; each half is likely a pretty hearty meal on its own, and when served on decorative wax paper and a wooden serving board, it's a pretty sight. That said, nothing really wowed. I ordered the vodka parmigiana sandwich while my husband went with the sausage sandwich. The orders took some time to come out, which felt like an assurance that things were being prepared fresh, but I was surprised at how lukewarm the chicken cutlet, sauce, and sausage pieces were. On the plus side, the bread is the seeded variety (in my book, the ultimate type for a sandwich) and nicely toasted. My husband thought his sausage sandwich needed some sort of a sauce, to which the owners happily obliged with some ketchup. It helped, but his overall impression of his meal was similar to my own - good, not great. While our meal didn't blow us away, what everyone else has shared about the owners is true. These are the nicest, most welcoming folks behind the counter. They greeted us the moment we entered and guided us through the bestsellers of the menu.

On the right as you enter there is a section with all kinds of Polish dairy products, butter, farmer cheese, etc., herring and smoked fish. Continue and you come to a hot food bar, which is attended. So far we have tried the stuffed cabbage and the red cabbage, both very good. La Portena picked up a container of beef tripe soup. A bit salty, but very tender. Continue on, and you will come to a deli counter with many types of kielbasa, kabanosy, hams and all manner of Polish pork products. If you're like me, you'll want to find an English speaker, or you can just gesture. Prices are modest, quality is high. There's a large baked goods section as well. I'm always a little nervous about pastry items in these places, but the rye bread was excellent. The pastries look the part. Along the far wall, you'll find pierogies and the excellent pickles they also sell at the Pastrami Grill. As you wait to pay, you can peruse the selection of herbs, spices, and dried mushrooms. Unfortunately for me, the packaging is all in Polish. Check out is pretty efficient. Overall, I would say the store is friendlier than the Polish places I used to visit in Greenpoint, and it has become my favorite store of its type in the tri-state area. Recommended.

They have everything here - produce, fresh kielbasa, household items, skincare, pastries, and hot foods just to name a few. The pastries are just kind of on a shelf out in the open, which didn't seem too sanitary (or the buffet for that matter) because the store is VERY tight and the aisles are narrow, so I could see it being easy to knock a hand into it, not to mention the conversations happening next to the cramped buffet station. We ended up ordering hot food from behind the counter since none of the buffet items appealed to us anyway. Nothing was labeled so you have to either know what you want, or guess what the food items are. Or if you want to roll the dice and just point, that works too. It seemed there was only one person behind the counter who spoke English but she was busy helping other customers. We ended up getting the stuffed cabbage. You can order the food by weight, or a dinner portion ($9) where you get an entree, potatoes (choose from 3 different styles) and a salad. We did the roasted potatoes and beet salad and both were great, especially the beet salad. The stuff cabbage was just okay. I thought stuffed cabbage was supposed to be mostly meat, but this one was mostly rice with a few specks of meat. We dug into some of it in the parking lot and it was already cold. I wouldn't order this again. Maybe we just didn't order the right thing. I do wish they had cooked kielbasa behind the hot food counter because I would have loved to try those. There's also a packaged cold food section (i.e. various salads, stews, and pierogies) you can bring home and heat up. I ended up getting a quart of half sour pickles to take home. I wouldn't mind giving this spot another try - possibly some of the kielbasa to throw on the grill at home. I don't know of many Polish grocery stores around, especially with such a variety, so I can see why it's so popular.
