Wow I wish I would have read all these reviews before placing my order 6 weeks ago. They said I would have it in 2 weeks. No communication and no chair. I have called and talked to 3 people all have talked bad about the original employee I spoke to. No one has an answer, I tried speaking to the manager and was there was no manager on site. This makes sense no one is running this store. I NEED HELP SOMEONE TELL ME WHEN MY CHAIR IS ARRIVING. I NEEDED FOR TODAY FOR A PROCEDURE I AM HAVING. The store took care of my warranty but you have to pay for shipping and labor. The company should have parts sent to consumer's home not from factory to store and then charge me 125 for shipping. Its clueless. Be aware of their warranty policy. Not too happy customer. read more

The most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I would have given them minus 5 stars if it was an option. Our sales person Orlis told my wife and I that we would receive a FULL refund if returned within 30 days. We return it in 7 days and after several days of phone calls and emails we still had not received credit back to my card. After filling a dispute with my CC company, I finally received an email from Bruce saying they are charging me a restocking fee. I emailed Bruce back & cc Orlis that Orlis promised we would receive a FULL refund. It's been over 2 weeks and they both cannot even give you the courtesy to reply back. Don't rely on what these people tell you. On the phone, they described a chair "on order, arriving in 3 weeks," in time for an anniversary present. The factory order time was 9 weeks, so I placed a deposit. But when it was due to ship, 3 weeks became 10 weeks. After talking with the factory, I concluded that the "chair on order" never existed; they just placed a new order after getting my deposit. I found Backstore through Amazon, where they advertise a wide selection of scarce chairs that they don't have in stock, also operating as VitalityWeb. The only reliable way to get a popular chair fast is to order one that Amazon has in stock; it will say "Sold and fulfilled by Amazon." But be careful - click a different color choice and it's from Backstore, VitalityWeb or another, probably untrustworthy, dealer. read more

Words cannot describe how grateful I am for Tammy & The Back Store. Ever since sitting in a Stressless chair in an Airbnb 5 years ago, I've been dreaming about owning one. These chairs and couches are ergonomic yet beautifully designed. When my husband gave me the ok time buy a sectional Stressless couch. These are investment furniture pieces! I started my search online living in Los Angeles. I called at least 6 other stores to find customer service lacking or used car sales type tactics. I called The Back Store and Tammy answered all the way in San Diego. What an angel she is! Tammy was patient, thorough and cared to get me exactly what I was looking for. She took the time to research answers to every question I had. Let me tell you I had a LOT of questions. Tammy even called the manufacturer to see if there were any clearance item matching my order to get the cost down. While they did not she worked with her manager to throw in a few extra items (side tables) for free. We placed the order and she stayed in constant communication with me until we received the beautiful couch, coffee table and side tables. Tammy and I became friends and she even sent me a box filled to the rim with baby items for our newborn! Who does this? I have yet to meet Tammy in person but she will be a friend for life. We purchased a Noweigen recliner, we thought, turned out; it was made in Thailand and very uncomfortable. We requested a return and refund. They approved it. We were told we had to pay 279.00 to ship it back, which we were unhappy with. Upon issue of refund, the deducted over 550.00 from the refund. They said itcwas a restocking fee which wr were not told of prior returning. A complaint has been filed with Amazon. Stay away from these fraudsters. read more

I purchased a power lift chair by mega motion from amazon.com. It was supplied by the back store. This chair was not up to the advertisement claims. It will not support 500 pounds as stated in amazon.com. The chair was fixed numerous times it has been replaced and it still does not work. I do not use the chair anymore. My wife does. I am simply saying that I have purchased this chair from your company. The technician you sent to repair it took the chair therefore I do not have this chair, you have my money. I don't have the chair and I have asked your company to talk with me and help me resolve this issue as a professional manner no one no one will talk to me on the phone you Shipley persist that is the manufacturer who is to send me the refund and they insist that they do not have my money that you have my money, and that they cannot give me a refund. My sister & I bought our Mom a BarcaLounger recliner from The Back Store. Terrific customer service from Orlis. He told my Mom to call before we visited to make sure chair was on hand. We didn't call and the exact chair we wanted wasn't on the showroom floor. Orlis arranged to have it in the showroom the day my Mom went back to see it. She loved it and the chair was delivered within a couple of days. Mom is so happy. She's supposed to keep her legs elevated but the old recliner she had hurt her legs after 10 minutes. The new recliner allows her to keep her legs up comfortably for a few hours. Surprised by the bad reviews because our experience was excellent as is the quality of the chair. read more

I bought expensive Ekornes Stressless Recliner Chairs with Ottomans and a Sofa almost 5 years ago. One of the recliners broke about 2 months ago and the chair is now wobbly in all directions. Something is broken in the base that allows the reclining motion. For the last 3 weeks I have tried to get the chair fixed, but have just gotten the runaround. First they told me to contact the manufacturer directly (not true) only to find out that any warranty work will be done by the retailer. They won't let me drop off the chair at their store for repairs either. Then they request my original invoice, which I can't locate, but have copy of the credit card statement (they don't care). Funny that the store doesn't have their copy of the invoice either (they don't keep them for 5 years). The warranty employee refuses to connect me directly to a manager or store owner. Worst customer service ever for a chair that retails new for around $2500-3000! read more

If you are reading this save your money and find a different company to purchase from!! I had purchased a message chair from them in July 2020 for my business. Everything did work great. Then the week of Christmas 2020 the chair stopped working. I called them in hopes it was going to be a quick fix. I was told to called the manufacturer to trouble shoot. The manufacturer told me I needed to replace the remote. I called The Back Store to tell them what the manufacturer had told me. The woman I was corresponding with said she would have to figure out what to do since I was outside of their 3 month warranty and the Extended Warranty I purchased did not cover my chair until a YEAR after my purchase WHAT?!?. Which was sounding to me like I will be waiting. I was getting frustrated and this is during COVID. I tried to contact them many different times on all their phone number lines which no one would pick up so I left messages. Emails were never returned. I went directly to their website online form requesting an update. Someone email me back saying "someone is already helping you with this" I couldn't believe that was their responds! The following day the lady that was originally helping me emailed to say she never got any messages or emails from me. A new remote was sent in April 2021. I installed it and that didn't fix the problem. Now it is May and I am stilled waiting. Probably for nothing now. I feel stupid and ripped off because they already got my money and I have a broken chair. BTW they use cheap material for the chair. As soon as you sit in the chair the fabric rips and peels away. My 87-year-old mom purchased a Power Lift and Recline chair from The Backstore in December 2021 and it broke in August 2022 - the chair was stuck in the reclined position. She contacted the store requesting a technician to come out and they told her to e-mail her warranty first. She needed help with that so I went over to help and check the chair myself. At that time, I checked the Owner's Manual trouble shooting section and followed instructions to reprogram the chair if that problem occurred, but it didn't solve the issue. The warranty information we e-mailed did not have the chair's serial number, so we were told to look in the back of the chair for the number. I went over again, found a number and sent it but it wasn't the right number. We were told to check under the footrest, so I went over a third time. There was nothing under the footrest, so I looked behind the chair again and found another serial number on the motor. That wasn't the right number, either, and the company rep was adamant that the serial number was under the footrest. So, I went over a fourth time with my husband and he confirmed there was no number under the footrest so we literally tipped the chair completely over and found another serial number under the frame of the chair. That was not the number either, so we were told to go to the trouble shooting section of the Owner's Manual and follow the instructions for reprograming the chair if it doesn't incline. I explained I'd already tried that and it didn't work and, and after three weeks of jumping through hoops and getting nowhere, they needed to send a technician out. A technician came out a few days later and said the motor needed to be replaced but he had to contact Golden Technologies, the manufacturer of the chair, about getting the part. He told my mom he would have an answer for her by the end of the week. By midweek the following week, we still hadn't heard from the technician, so my mom and I went into The Backstore to complain and try to return the chair. The Backstore employees were apologetic and explained they are only distributors, all warranty issues are handled directly with Golden Technologies, the manufacturer. Jeremy, who works in the warranty department of The Backstore and is the middleman for the store and the manufacturer, contacted Golden Technologies and was able to speed up the process to get the technician out to help us. The Golden Technologies technician was nice and helpful and was able to replace the motor quickly. It literally took five weeks to get a technician out and 15 minutes to replace the part. All of the people we dealt with at The Backstore were nice, Jeremy was professional and did his best to help us, but Golden Technologies gets an F for customer service when it comes to fixing their product that broke eight months after the sale. And what was most frustrating was that they were completely insensitive to the fact that my mom is a senior citizen who struggles with technology and e-mailing and who can't get out of a chair, much less crawl behind and under it looking for a serial number that wasn't even on the chair, before sending anyone out! So, buyer beware, if your Power Lift and Recline chair from Golden Technologies needs repair, don't expect it to be quick and easy to get a technician out to help. read more

Recieved a cat napped chair that was well over 1k for it to break the next day for them to come out a week later due to communication problems & staffing issues only for them to not only have the correct part for the chair so when i spoke to the mechanic that came bath times he said he would be here BEFORE 10:15 in the morning on monday due to plenty of things i have to do and take care of before going out of town this week, only to have to call them to find out he wasnt going to be here until i was leaving for my day and to be told the timeframe i have available for them to come by again is too short for what they usually give even though i was finally accomadated after explaining the situation further, i.e no one else being here due to jobs/activities to let the mechanic repair it & their own schedules, while further more me explaining how the inconvenience is costing me & having to wait since only having the chair one day before breaking then having little things happen like misscommunication & bringing the wrong parts like I mentioned, needless to say i got rudely hung up on after explaining all that & was told they will be there, click. Was pretty shocked i couldnt even get a last word in & didnt even want to call back to say anything. The chair is comfortable but the process & service isnt. Vitality Web aka The Backstore - Worst company EVER to deal with. I purchased a Getaway Elite RMS-10 Robotic Massage Chair on June 22, 2017. My Chiropractor had one & I loved it. She wanted to sell it to me for $2000 because the leg hydraulics didn't work and she couldn't get them fixed. I opted for a new one thru the Backstore. I specifically asked about the warranty because of the aforementioned problem. I bought the extended in-home warranty and was assured the contracted company could fix any problems. I received the chair on July 11 and on July 26 informed VWB the left arm massage didn't work and the leg hydraulics bled out in a matter of minutes. It is now 11/28/2017. They sent me a new arm, and I had to fix that myself. They never sent anyone out to fix the leg mechanism, and two months later, they finally insisted I must send the chair back for their factory tech to fix. After never receiving a call tag, in-home service or basically answers to any of my questions, on 10/26/17 I told them I was done. I wanted all of my money back. I told them to send a smaller truck, as a semi trailer would not be able to get here. They sent me a BOL with liftgate stipulated. That was three carriers ago. I took off work two days and waited, only to find out those carriers only had semi's or didn't come to this area. I paid for a crate to be made on the pallet instead of relying on the original cardboard only. I'm still waiting. They told me Roadrunner wouldn't pick up here even though they are the ones who delivered it. I just called Roadrunner. They WILL pick up here. A week ago I asked for a refund now, and they can get their chair whenever they CAN find someone to pick it up. I've not received a reply. I've had this huge thing sitting in my garage for nearly a month now. I'm out close to a thousand dollars in wages and crate building fees not to mention the 3K for the chair and extended warranty. Do not purchase anything from this store or web site called Vitality web. I live in Hawaii and had a tree fall on me and crush my leg and explained this to the seller Backstore and purchased thru Amazon in January. the chair was delivered damaged bent frame and ripped canvas, chair was from Cozzia modelAG6000 I paid $1365.00 and Till today I am still trying to get a refund, they dragged this out for month and wanted me to pay shipping of about $500.00-$600.00 which was crazy since it was delivered damaged they should have taken it back and replaced instead they told me to contact Cozzia which said they would send a new on after 270 email and over 100 phone calls and dispute with credit card they said if I take $600.00 as a refund and stop the dispute it would all end so I have a non working chair Cozziz the manufacturer said I have no warranty, Backstore or Vitality web never refunded me confirmed by American Express and Amazon. This is how they treat their customers even the disabled ones that are in need. Bruce or Mark cannot be reach by telephone as Philip said to me they do not speak with people, introverts or some issue. So do not purchase anything from them or you will see what I am talking about. The Cozzia AG6000 has a canvas like a childs back pack and is sewn with 1 stitch which will tear on you and the frame on mine is not inline and keeps popping out of track, very poor quality. Cozzia said if I paid for shipping of parts and got my own tech maybe it can be repaired which should have been done by them. What about the exchange they said they would do? Well they charged me $237.03 for a box of used parts and a ripped canvas, the tech told me this chair is useless and not to even try to repair and spend more money on. These people Mark and Bruce have no heart and just care about the money and if I can stop just a few people from getting stuck like me I would be happy. Save your money, better yet look under the pretty bonded leather cover and see what you are getting. Search bonded leather and see what you are buying. Look before buying I wish all buyers the best but avoid this store, save yourself the problems I am still dealing with, also reported to BBB!
