    Avocado benedict for breakfast
    Bruce K.

The most Instagram-worthy restaurant in all of Amsterdam and yeah, the food is pretty and it's decent but it's not five stars. There can be a long wait standing in line outside the restaurant and that gets worse when some clown decides that now's a good time to light up. Clown. They will not seat incomplete parties and I completely get that. Yep, everything is avocados and we got the avocado fries to share and I chose the avocado florentine benedict which was good. Eggs poached perfectly, though the avocado was a little under ripe in my opinion. Service is good. Menus in English and other languages. Host spoke excellent English as did our waitress. Overall, a good meal and I am a fan. [Review 12099 overall, 1883 of 2019.]

    Avocado Fries w/ Truffle Mayo

Avocados, FTWWWW! My friends and I came here for lunch because, duh, avocados! An entire eatery with an avocado theme? Yes, please! I am still impressed by every food and drink item, using avocado in their creation. Think I'm wrong? They sell a cookbook here, proving so! There was an hour wait for lunch, so we put our name in 'til they texted us when a table was ready. Cool with us, since we just went to a bar nearby to drink. It only made lunch all the more better. We were starving by the time we came back. And I gotta say, The Avocado Show was worth the hour-wait. It's definitely a restaurant to try while in Amsterdam, at least, that's what your Instagram profile is telling you. I ordered the truffle treasure toast with avocado fries. Yep, sure did. It was exactly what I needed to after day-drinking. The truffle treasure toast had smashed avocado, chicken, parmesan cheese, radishes and truffle mayo. I love truffle and I love avocado, so you do the math. It was a winning combination on toast. The avocado fries were solid, with a light batter to coat the slices of avocado that literally make up the fry. It also came with more truffle mayo for dipping! We all enjoyed our lunch and were happy that the avocado was the main feature of everything we ordered. The place was super busy, with a line outside the door throughout our entire time there. And somehow the staff was able to seat as many people as possible, so don't expect privacy here, since the neighboring table will be able to hear your convo and vice versa. The Avocado Show is a fun place to eat in Amsterdam, with a theme based off of one of the most popular and trendy food items. What's not to love?

Ok, so I definitely came for the instagram (and I totally found this restaurant on instagram) like many others who were there on Saturday morning. I went first thing, a few minutes after opening, so I didn't have to wait in line. There were a few tables but it definitely filled up quickly. The interior is decked out with millenial pink and green. I was totally into it. When they handed me the menu, they were sure to tell me (and everyone else) that because it's morning hours (9am-12pm), they only had the breakfast menu available and they also only take card, no cash, which is not uncommon in Amsterdam. I ordered The French Florentine, which was sauteed spinach, flowers, homemade Hollandaise sauce, avocado, watercress and two poached eggs. I was a little disappointed when it came out lukewarm, like barely warm. I felt like the eggs at least should have been warmer. The toasted English muffin tasted like it came out of a cardboard box. Even if it did, I feel like they could have used not old bread or something so it didn't taste like box. I also tried the Guaca Mary (vodka, tequila, guacamole, avocado oil, lime juice, sugar syrup, salt and pepper), which wasn't my favorite (I wouldn't get it again) but that may only be due to taste. Last, I ordered a white tea which the waiter kindly asked if I wanted first before the food and the drink. I was curious about other menu items but I'm not sure if I'd come back because I was underwhelmed about the eggs. But they were beautiful. And so instagrammable.

I was really looking forward to this place as I added it to my todo list while in town. My friend and I had planned to eat here between going to the musuems near by. We came on a Sunday around 11am and there was a little crowd. I walked in thinking we put our name on the list but a gentleman quickly told us to wait outside and he'd be with us. About 5 min later he came over to put our name down. And took my cell number to notify us when the table was ready. He said 20 min so we stick around. It ended up being about 35min which was ok. When we sat down we we're quickly given a menu. And we ordered right away. I was super excited to try this place out. I love avocados and especially good food presentation. I was disappointed when my good came. It looked less vibrant than what I saw online. It said it came with flowers but more like one flower. I wanted the full immersed experience especially with the edible flowers. The flavors we're ok too, I rarely say food is bland but I felt it was. We left still hungry so we ate something small else after. I say try it out, it's a cool concept but the food execution could use some work. **Ask for extra flowers! Hopefully they will accept the request.

Amazing amazing food! Seems like a tourist trap but the food is actually incredible. Don't sleep on the burger and nachos. The avocado fries are also really yummy.

We went to the Avocado Show for lunch in a Tuesday. We arrived shortly after noon and were greeted outside by the staff taking names and numbers of everyone who waiting for a table. They have a great system that sends a text to alert you when you're table is almost ready, giving you the freedom to not mull about waiting outside. To our delight we were called much sooner than estimated, which was great because we were hungry. The interior is small and quaint and the service was prompt. We ordered the avo salmon poké bowl, the truffle treasure toast and the nachos. The poké bowl and truffle toast were great! The poké bowl was a bit on the small size but delish and the toast was yummy! Both when served look like a piece of art. The nachos... I wouldn't consider myself a nacho snob but they weren't made with any sort of love. The guacamole on the nachos didn't taste fresh and tasted like is had a filler (maybe sour cream?), it had a mediocre amount of liquid cheese, jarred salsa and a handful of kidney beans. Overall the flavor was ok - reminding me of movie theater nachos. The nachos bring the review down to 3 stars.

04/17 - I'm 4 months late on my review, but I came here the first month it was open back in April. I saw that it was opened in time for my trip to Amsterdam. I was really excited to try it, but in all, it was more of a 3.5 stars experience, but I'll round it up to 4 stars. First, the wait was about 45 minutes but I expected it since it was just opened and people would walk by and get intrigued. Once we got seated, I got the avocado burger which came with sausage, prosciutto and the buns were avocados. I think it could have been an open-faced burger because the top avocado portion wasn't equal to the filling and you're eating more avocado than anything else. It came with a side of salsa and nachos, but no guacamole? It would have been perfect if it came with guacamole. This is an avocado restaurant, after all. The avocado garden was cute and my husband loved it, it came with crackers and the avocados were topped with herbs and spices. I got the nachos for my kids and the amount of guacamole was depressing, not much at all and it didn't seem to have the avocado effect we were expecting. It came to be a rather expensive meal for what you get and not much avocados. It was a nice concept and I'm glad we tried it but I wasn't as impressed as I expected it to be.

The Avocado Show makes for a great Instagram photo, but does it actually make for a good meal? We didn't waste much time trying to find the answer! First-ever time in Amsterdam, the entire group was unanimous on where we wanted to go for our first meal. Entire group had their orders, but my friend and I chose what appeared to be two of the most popular offerings: The Bun Burger and The Poké Bowl. The Bun Burger stood out more to me because it was so unique to look at it with it's two avocado "buns" and the Dutch raw beef sausage in between. An odd combo, but it was actually pretty delicious. The Poké Bowl wins on presentation, but I feel like I could've gotten better if I was ordering a poke bowl at home. I can imagine poke bowls aren't too available in Amsterdam though, so for them having this option is a big deal. I imagine that this particular establishment draws more than the usual amount of tourists, so it was good that everyone in the restaurant could speak English. Was odd for them to be card only, but I could only wish for something like this back in the U.S. instead of places being cash only. Wait wasn't too bad, but we did come at a super weird time of 2 pm on a Wednesday. Definitely worth stopping by to try and get our IG photos in. Not sure if it's a necessity to come back the next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Truly an experience. This is a spot for all of you Food Instagramers. There is always at least a 20 min wait. I love it that they provide water while you wait because it gets hot outside. The hostess is hilarious. She definitely keeps it real. My name on the list was "American Diana" haha After the wait, we were able to order. I ordered the poke bowl while my friend had the super bowl salad. The presentation was beautiful & we both enjoyed our meals. We were so full but decided to order dessert. I tried the avocado ice cream, which I totes recommend. While my friend had the blind date, truly unique dessert. If you go before 12 pm, order their eggs Benedict. It looked amazing! Service was great considering how busy they were. I'm an easy girl to please. I just need food. Tip: water is 3 euros!! So you might as well order something else. My only regret is not taking a picture of their cute bicycle in the front. Also, they only take cards. & no Amex!

If you love avocados, this is the place for you! Came here during a trip to Europe and was blown away by the extravagant combinations and dishes. This is definitely NOT just an avocado toast place! From avocado pancakes to fries, there is nothing usual about this place. Luckily we got to the restaurant on a weekday right as it opened so they were able to immediately seat us! Just be smart about what time you go or expect a long line and a wait!

Saw this on Buzzfeed while scrolling Facebook in the US. Had to stop here while in Amsterdam. This place does not disappoint! The menu was concise but I was happy because what they do, they do well. The prices are a little higher than what I thought but you're paying for an experience. The service was a little slow but this place had a long wait and I went at like 2pm on a Thursday. The lack of 5 stars was the fact that the service was lacking. I had my order taken, food brought and then I had to hour the sever for my check.

The Heart Beet Rose Avocado Toast (Mango Curry Tango toast is in the back)

I had to check out The Avocado Show during my time here in Amsterdam. It didn't disappoint! My brother, dad, and I came here for breakfast on a Wednesday in September around 10AM and we were seated immediately. It was fairly busy in there while we ate but there were still tables open. I ordered The Heart Beet Rose Toast (€10) while my dad has The Mango Curry Tango Toast (€10). Both were absolutely beautiful! Both toasts were served a large slice of bread with a generous layer of hummus an avocado rose on top. Very substantial and filling. My brother enjoyed the Vegan Paradise poke bowl (€15.50). It was a spectacle to look at! The bowl featured rice, mango mayonnaise, seaweed salad, mango chunks, edamame, cucumber, & was surrounded by avocado slices. Our server gave him soy sauce to enjoy it with. It was very fresh tasting but sadly not very filling nor substantial. Too bad since it was €5 more than our massive toasts. We all had a great experience here though! I would definitely give it a try if you're an avocado fiend like me.

As the name of the place suggests, this place goes HAM on avocado. Pancakes?! Let's put some avocado on it! Poke bowl? Lets surround it with a ring of avocado slices! Avocado here, there, everywhere! Came here for brunch. It felt a little gimmicky basing a whole restaurant concept around the avocado, a beloved food of the basic man and woman. I like guacamole, but do I really need it on my pancakes or in my bloody mary? The answer was not really. Not that the food wasn't tasty - it was - but just throwing a bunch of avocado on things felt unnecessary. I could have done for less avocado and more emphasis on using it more effectively.

The waiter was super cool and told us to have a seat anywhere we liked and brought us a drink menu. He knew we wanted to eat so at exactly 4:30 he came and took our orders. Through out the meal he was on top of everything and even offered many suggestions! The food was spectacular as well. I had the trio of fries and my friends had other small plates that were all so good! And the sauces that come with the fries, mamma mia! We also shared the Boca's Platter and it was absolutely to die for. Do not pass this up. I repeat, do not pass this up! Between 4 people, the medium was plenty of food. The space itself was also nice. They had outdoor seating for nicer days. We went right when food service began on a Monday afternoon so can't speak to how busy it gets during peak hours. The boca platter was HUGE and we got the medium for 4 people. Came with steak, fried shrimp, mackerel potato salad, crostini, and an assortment of cheeses and some pepperoni. Last but not least...my favorite...the tartare. The quail egg was delicately placed atop the center of the meat and placed alongside the four little crostini on the plate. It was juicy and had so much flavor, a little spicy but not an overwhelming amount of chili spice. This meal reminded me of tapas in Madrid; definitely stop by bocas and get everything!

After waiting to be seated, our hostess guided us upstairs to the third floor, where they have several more dining tables and cozy couches that you can sit on while you enjoy your coffee. My parents, having visited this cafe before during their last trip to Amsterdam, raved about this place and suggested that I try their famous coconut coffee. All three of us ordered their coconut coffee, with my dad adding an espresso shot to his own so that he could stay awake for the rest of the night. Once I reached that first sip, OMG. SO DELICIOUS. How can I make my own coconut coffee back at home?! I loved it so much that I really want to make a copycat of it. The straws are also bendable, which really makes it handy if you need to lower your straw a bit. If I could, I would get on a plane to Amsterdam just to come back for their coconut coffee.
