I came in with a humming noise that I believed was a bad wheel bearing but was unsure. Alex was upfront from the beginning after making the same diagnosis and even encouraged me to get quotes from other mechanics if it made me feel more comfortable so I could make sure I was getting a fair deal. That kind of confidence and transparency is hard to find. When I arrived, he was able to get my car in within about 30 minutes to diagnose it. While the part was being delivered, I went to lunch, and once I came back, he had the wheel bearing replaced in about 45 minutes. Before I left, he took the time to show me both the old and new wheel bearings, explaining how they worked and letting me hear and feel the difference. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me instead of just handing me a bill. One thing I noticed while I was waiting was how many customers came in who clearly knew Alex. Earlier this year, she'd started leaking transmission fluid and she'd already had a long time issue with keeping the cooling system going... I also knew my brakes were acting up but well...money! So for months and months it was refill the radiator and transmission and cross my fingers! Finally I did some research and decided John's was the place to go! After I dropped her off, I was given a list of other issues she had (a few belts and hoses) which didn't surprise me any given her age! lol! My chassis and internal mechanisms aren't what THEY once were either! Ha! Anyway I told them yes, to go ahead and repair the "must have fixed" issues! She was returned to me in a timely manner and for what I would call an extremely fair price (under $2500) for 3 major repairs, an oil change and even a few new belts and filters! The staff were wonderful with keeping me up to date on how things were going along the way too ...as she's nearly 40 some parts took a minute! Anyway after all these months since I took her in, she's STILL running like a top and even though I check my coolant and transmission fluid regularly, she has never even needed topping off so she's sound as a drum! Rather than charging me for a battery, they suggested I call AAA for a battery replacement since it was still under warranty and then they would check everything else out to figure out where the problem was. After the battery got swapped it was obvious that it was my alternator. They got it fixed within the day! A couple of months later, my car broke down in the same way it did previously. I called them up to explain the issue again, and had the car towed out to them. I wasn't sure if the fix would be covered under warranty, but once a new alternator was installed, they told me everything was covered and I was good to go. Haven't had any issues with it since. Really appreciate the professionalism, transparency, and cost of the fix and re-fix. Will come back here for any future repairs!
