Here's a short story of poor salesmanship. Back story- I work a mile down the street from this place and I have been eyeing this specific truck for a little longer than a week and have been searching for an F150 to swap the powertrain into a Bronco. I have also looked at 2 other car sales lots on the same street one of them being Karz Plus. I walk in and instead of being greeted or asked what they can do for me, I have to ask looking at them both "who wants to help me" and I kid you not, BOTH salesman pointed at each other. Mind you they were sitting at adjacent desks and separated by a partition. So I point my attention to one since neither seemed interested in really helping. So I ask how much is the black F150. The salesman says "its already sold someone is already coming" then as I'm about to leave he then says "its actually not sold and for the right price though" then I ask "how much is it". Still yet he doesn't mention any pricing and says "I have to call the owner to see what we can do and how serious are you about buying" then I ask again "well how much is it" eventually he finally answers. After all that, 1) no salesman takes initiative 2) lied about it being already sold 3)couldn't answer a simple question after being asked 3 times. 4)couldn't actually be a salesman and was going to have to call the owner even though we hadn't even started making a deal yet. Karz plus greeted me, let me inside the truck and do a walk around. They made me an agreeable offer and financing and said they would be willing to work with me and my credit union if i do finance through them and gave me a printout of the carfax and the saleswoman even gave me her personal cell if I had any immediate questions. I have lived in this town my whole life so I have seen how these dealerships have changed over the years. The vast difference between both places is astounding and it really shows why one is expanding and the other isn't. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO HERE AGAIN. read more

Came home from a 2nd trip today after being home for less than 48 hours a week ago and the price magically increased $5,000. The salesman said that Tomas said the old ad was an error. I'm updating my yelp review, due to hopefully putting this whole situation behind us, we stood in front of a judge today, my faith & prayers were answered and this mega mind in ripping people off has been answered, Mr. Roberts has to pay for the repairs to our vehicle. People get the word out and stop this crook from staying in business DO NOT BUY CARS @ CARMART in National City,Ca. It has been a nightmare to work with this man. Thank you in advance for everyone who took the time to read & share. What could I say, I wish I was updating this review to tell you that there was a positive outcome, that Mr. Ben Roberts was willing to do the right thing. The night I wrote the first review he reached out and said to let's try to figure something out. That maybe he could get an approve to go 50/50 to have the car repaired, and I agreed to do it cause I wanted our repaired. But days went by and nothing. So I spoke to the auto repair shop where the vehicle has been and ask them to get me an estimate in writing so I could present to Mr. Roberts. So I reached out him again, and again til finally he reached out to me. I shared with him what the auto shop had given me. And they are had said they could repair the car with a used motor for $6,200 give us a year warranty on the motor and he declined and said "NO" we had to go through people he knew. The estimated he had was for $7,500, but didn't want to share where, how many mileage the motor had and won't provide nothing in writing, and he declined and starting yelling at me that I was too demanding and he was going to do it his way. ..and my response was that why we're in the situation were in because we trusted you the first time around with taking care of noise that the car had.(we didn't need in writing, we had his word) And his responded was it was out of courtesy. Lol. So I reached out to a place that would be willing to mediate between the two of us, because I could not tolerate how this person wants to continue to be disrespectful and pushy. I could not handle it anymore, along with mourning my loved ones (a niece, my grandfather and a very special family friend)...I didn't have the strength to continue basically begging him to take care of what should be done right the first time. And he declined working with them. After he declines he messages me again about the story of us racing the car home, on freeways we don't need to take to get home, shady of him and his so call call Mickey Mouse mechanics...I will definitively give you guys a update because this situation will have to be escalated to the next step...I hope people stay away from this place and hope there is a positive outcome for us like there was for them when we handed them a 14,500 check.....ty for taking the time to read. read more

I am about to graduate from SDSU in May an I was in the process of looking for a new car. I always drove pass this place so I wanted to check it out. This place helped me find the best car for me and my financial situation. They showed me the various cars that fit my needs and left me alone to go through them! With that said, I am pretty happy with the car I got. Got everything done in a single day, all I had to do to get into a car as to walk in and talk to them. Super fast and great experience. I love my ol truck and we have been through a lot. Good times, bad times, fun times. Road trips, drive ins, picking up all my drunk friends being an uber driver before uber existed. Don't think my truck qualifies as an uber though. Too many band stickers on the back and it's dirty, and there's a dent on the side that I refuse to fix. Anyways, enough about my truck that nobody cares about, it's out with the old and in with the new, and this was the place to do it. I came here and got a very good price, good service and they even recommended an insurance company. Thanx to my friend visiting from NJ, I ended up at this place. My friend is in car business and I felt much more confident purchasing a car with his assistance. So unexpectedly I got a nice Christmas gift for myself :) I did not plan to get any car before February and was getting myself ready for this purchase for a couple of months. But if i only knew it would be so easy, fast and with only USD 400 down, i would have gone for it much earlier. Customer service is definitely what makes this place different. These guys appraised my vehicle then made me wait 3 bus days to get my money. During this time I got 1 text saying call me. this was from an unknown number to this I replied Who is this ? That was it ! The time came to pick up my money. i get there and im told tgat nonwe can take your vehicle we didnt notice dents in it. Not only did I disclose the dents but the appraiser has the gift of sight. It put me in a horrible position because I borrowed money and spent it already. Went there to buy SUV found via Carguru at price they advertised online. Seemed like "good deal". Arrived in person and told it was $5k more. Noted price online and then it was his bad, he was thinking of a different car. Ok. Wanted to get this deal done . Take our money and let's go. Then told only took cash or cashier's check. It was a Sunday late afternoon. Or needed to run credit check. Ok. Hit to my credit to run this check, but let's get this done today. Ready to use my debit card and pay all at once. Nope. 5 guys there that had no decision/making ability. The sales guy kept calling the owner and leaving me for every.single.question. Ran credit and had full check written out - THEN told the "boss" on phone would not honor 30-day warranty on car sticker in window for any major engine or transmission issues for which they will only pay 75% of IF such a major issue. That was it for me. No mas. Walked away. BTW, the SUV I was going to buy had all the personal information of the previous owner in the glove compartment. I knew his address, phone number, financing info, etc. Not cool. read more

The strangest experience ever with Carzone in Escondido. I recommend avoiding this place at all costs. We found a car for my granddaughter at Carzone on Car Guru and went to see it. We are in our seventies with pre-existing conditions, so we are extremely careful where we go and always practice social distancing. The man in the back room came out and exclaimed that "Coronavirus is a not real. It's people who have been shot or have died of cancer and they say it's Coronavirus." I should have left then knowing I was dealing with crazy people. But it got worse. We decided to take the car. Offered to pay cash with my bank card. They said they could only take a $2,000 deposit from my card and I had to get the rest in cash or cashier's check. They said they'd had too many problems with bank card transactions. They took my card into the back room and came back and said their electronic link to process bank cards was not working and we'd have to get cash or cashier's check. We agreed and called my granddaughter to come from Carlsbad since the car would be in her name. We let them know we were going to get a sandwich and would be back with the cashier's check. They said that was fine. Went to the bank, waited in a line with 25 other people, got the cashier's check and returned with my granddaughter to finalize the transaction. Every five minutes the salesman had to go to the back room to ask questions throughout this whole ordeal. We handed them the cashier's check and our granddaughter was ready to sign the paperwork. Then, the guy from the back room, who thinks the Coronavirus is a hoax, comes out and says he can't sell us the car. I explain that we have already gotten the cashier's check and had my granddaughter drive from the coast to sign the paperwork. The guy from the back room says he can't sell us the car. Says he's had problems with people and we're making him nervous because we are trying to social distance. This is the strangest place with the weirdest people I've ever encountered. Guessing they didn't want to sell the car for the advertised price because we weren't financing it or they decided they wanted more money for it. It's possible they didn't know how to register it with DMV. This was the weirdest group of people I've ever dealt with and they put us through the ringer, made us go through standing in line in a crowded bank to get a cashier's check, then we had to go back to the bank and wait in a line with 25 people to re-deposit the cashier's check since they decided not to sell the car. Truly insane group of people at Carzone in Escondido. Pass on this place unless you want to waste 3 hours of your time dealing with a bunch of pathetic clowns. read more

I purchased a Scion tC 2009 about 6 months ago or so. My boyfriend and I went to just look at the cars, but ended buying a car. The car is in great conditions, still is. We did have to replace the break pads after 2 weeks of purchasing the car. Although the car was overpriced, we realized after we had purchased it, that was our mistake for not comparing prices. Then again the car is in great condition. Amazing team they have! They did the impossible to find a bank to finance us just when I thought we were going to be denied, we were approved. Extremely shady my parent went there to purchase their first car, first off they made them sign the contract before getting a to test drive the car. On top of that they told them they could pay the down payment later and they called them three weeks later and told them they were repossessing the car. My parents lost $2000 because they were thinking they could pay the rest of the down payment later. When they arrived home the car had the check engine light on, the radio was locked and the dash board is full of air bumps. They took advantage of my parents who they knew didn't know about buying a car. My dad is a hard working man who lost his money due to their miscommunication. So, I wanted to get my mom a new car after seeing her drive her minivan for years. It was time she updated. So we came here, she took her time and test drove different cars. Buying a new car is very stressful, but this place made it easy! I wanted a Mazda 3 hatchback and I've been having trouble finding one for a good price since they are apparently really high in demand. However, to my surprise, they had a decent selection of the car I wanted and for a reasonable price. I ended up with a 2008 Mazda 3 hatchback with less than 100K on it. It came with the full history of the car so I felt very safe buying it. Besides needing new brake pads in 6 months, the used car inspection went very well.
