My first time I got the Bison Burger and this past time we all got the Pulled Pork Sandwich special and it was so freaking good. The staff is friendly, and super attentive. I enjoyed the old building and local art on the walls. Pay attention to the specials board because we missed out the first time around by not noticing it until after we ordered. Can't wait to try new specials next time.

However, I Visited on Mother's Day with my daughter and sister and had a completely different experience. I have a gluten allergy, one daughter has gluten sensitivity, and my other daughter has celiac disease. We informed our waitress that we needed gluten-free options and were told they were out of gluten-free buns but had gluten-free sourdough. After double-checking, the chef confirmed it was gluten-free. Something didn't seem right, so we asked to see the packaging. Wheat was listed as an ingredient. Thankfully, we caught the mistake before eating it. Unfortunately, when our food arrived, two of the gluten-free meals were still served with gluten-containing items, including a flour tortilla and the same bread we'd already identified as not gluten-free. The food itself was actually delicious, and I wish I could leave a more positive review based on that alone. However, for anyone with celiac disease, a gluten allergy, or a serious gluten sensitivity, accurate ingredient information is not optional--it's a health and safety issue. The repeated errors from both the kitchen and serving staff were extremely disappointing and left me with little confidence in their ability to safely accommodate gluten-free guests.

The service is a little on the slow side, but no one eating here seems to be in a hurry. People like to come here and watch the games on the big screen TV. The first night we had the French dip with onion rings and the chicken cranberry walnut salad. We enjoyed both meals the second night we split the fried chicken breast dinner. This is so big that three people could eat it. We could not eat it all. We also ordered two side Caesars for starters, but for some reason, they came out with the chicken. Luckily, the food didn't cool off too much and was still fairly warm by the time we got to eat our entrée. I guess next time, we need to specify we'd like our salad before our entrée comes.

We did not have a reservation but we dined in around 5pm on a Friday with no wait since the place just opened up. Our server was really nice/friendly and she really knew the menu by heart. Ambiance was nice, not too impressive and not much of a view either. We ordered the mussel sautéd with wine and garlic as an appetizer (not listed but I think it's one of the newer dishes they are trying out?) The mussels were cooked perfectly and matched the sauce. I forgot to mention they gave complimentary bread--garlic focaccia and sour dough with butter. Prior to the main entrees our server gave us a palate cleanser sorbet which was refreshing. I ordered the shrimp scampi--shrimp was perfectly cooked and juicy..not chewy and dry at all. The linguine was a tad sour for me but it's ok. My partner ordered the ribeye medium cooked with potatoes and brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked to perfection as well! He was highly impressed and every bite he took it seemed like he was in heaven. The Brussel sprouts was a perfect complement to the dish. We managed to have some room for dessert and ordered the sticky toffee pudding. Since it was our anniversary, it was complimentary. Can't complaint about free dessert. Overall, we were surprised by this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. Compliments to the chef!

It's located in a casino but well insulated away from the smoke and clamor of the gambling floor. There are pasta items and fresh vegetables for the vegetarians. Prices are higher than the quality. Staff are nice, possibly over stretched to provide attentive service. Food downstairs is at least as good and good value. Choices are not great in Tuolumne County. Maybe go to Murphys if you are serious about getting great food and good wine in a darling gold country town.

The restaurant is very small, which makes total sense why it's so busy come summer time. I recommend coming in the off season for an easier chance getting a table and enjoying the experience. I don't quite count but I would say there were about 8 tables inside for dining. Sam was our server and he was an absolute joy, he has a great personality and was very present in conversation at each table he served. All of us enjoyed our meals, the food is very good and flavorful. I cannot recommend the garlic mashed potatoes enough!!! These were my favorite item I had, and I've been talking about them since my visit! A mashed potato is my least favorite potato dish, and these were stellar. I also had the chicken club sandwich and it was good, came with lots of avocado on it. My husband went gourmet and had the duck dish and he really enjoyed it as well, said it was very tasty. My sister ordered the ravioli, and raved as well. Each of us finished all of our plates clean. We'd like to come in the future for a special date night, so if you're in the mountains and looking for somewhere special to celebrate something check out the Steam Donkey!

What a hidden gem!…read more While everyone is rushing to the oldest salon across the street, this nice restaurant at the first floor of the hotel is relatively empty and we were quick to snatch our table for a Friday dinner. Service was a bit slow but pleasant, totally a small town ambiance without the rush. The decoration was cozy with a full size bar and you see the hotel's front desk lounge from across. The menu is amazing with good quality and reasonable prices! Their top 2 dishes are the Little Rooster and the Wine & Bone Ossobuco. The Little Rooster was beautifully stacked on in layers of pistachio-crusted chicken breast seared in EVOO with prosciutto, mozzarella, over creamy red potato mash and topped with apple vinaigrette salad. The taste was so complex and the chicken was so juicy that I couldn't believe it's the chicken breast. The prosciutto in the middle came as a nice surprise (I did not read the menu but was captivated by the dish when a waiter was delivering it to another table) and the portion and taste puts it well above the price tag of $25. I was so elated biting into it. The Wine & Bone Ossobuco in contrast is slightly less satisfying as the meat portion was smaller than what I used to get, but we are paying $30 here vs $45 in the Bay Area. The taste is consistent to what a wine braised ossobuco is. We also tried the wagyu burger that came with a red looking sauce that I thought was spicy but it was actually sweet and sour and had a good balance for the burger patty. The personal size salad was also good in taste and size. Overall we couldn't stop talking about the food for our entire weekend trip to Yosemite. It looks like they have an extensive beer, wine and cocktail menu as well. I strongly recommend this place!
