Previously we've had great food and service at the Arlington. Tonight was a disappointment. We were seated in the "overflow" room with two other tables. The main restaurant was not crowded as they had tables available from 7 to 10. The three tables in this room were serviced by 3 different servers all with tables in the main room. Our server apologized immediately for being slow as she wasn't used to coving this room. The table next to us was unhappy with their service as well. When we were served, several of the apps were cold, but we waited so long we didn't send them back. Our server was never around, I had to get my own steak knife from a shelf. Two of us had the short ribs which were tasty, one portion was half the size of the other. When asked for muddled limes in a cocktail, the bar tender told our server he didn't have time to do it. It's no surprise the restaurant was pretty empty with mediocre service and a lazy kitchen. Suggestion: assign one server to that room and make sure they communicate with the runners and the kitchen. read more

Terrific scallops and a great long beer list (25+ drafts, all interesting). Construct your own flight -- a good serving option. Flatiron steak was overpowered a bit, swimming in chimmichurri, but otherwise a very nice higher end meal for LBI. Entrees perhaps a little overpriced. Cheery servers and good atmosphere. Skip it for dinner. Ate there recently and the kitchen service was awful. Our server was nice but the issue was we waited 90 minutes for our entrees. The excuse was 'there are two eight tops ahead of you'. I don't care, manage your restaurant properly and that doesn't happen. After we complained we were comped some dessert. The food was ok, salads were over dressed and the paella rice was burned. Would not rush back for dinner. Bar looked good. Maybe stick to the beer flight? read more

This is my personal favorite when visiting LBI. From the craft beers and cocktails to the elegantly rustic decor to the deliciously creative and flavorful dishes, everything about The Arlington comes together to create a special dining experience. Being a creature of habit, I usually get the braised shortribs with baby bock Chou, kimchee and Korean BBQ. But I've also ordered and recommend the brussel and kale caeser salad, the village viking swordfish, the double cheeseburger and the oysters on the half shell. read more

Unfortunately one of the worst places I have had dinner in in the 27 years I've been on LBI. Food was weird and very inconsistent.

My husband and I decided to try The Arlington after reading about it in the Sand Paper. We never patroned the Bayberry Inn and wanted something not too far from our rental. This was a date night for us away from our toddler. Our dinners were delicious and priced comparably to anywhere else on the island for a nice restaurant. I called for reservations at 5 for a table st 6:30 on a Tuesday night in July. It was easily obtained. The parking lot is a bit tight but we got a spot. Service was excellent, refilling water and checking on us, though a bit slow. We were actually fine with this because we didn't feel rushed and could talk. We each had two drinks. I had a pinot noir and he had craft beer. We shared the calamari app and I had the seafood paella while he had the sword fish. We were offered two helpings of delicious flatbreads that had olive oil and spices on them before our app arrived. Meals were perfect. Not too much not too little. The quality was fantastic. Too often you are given a Ton of crappy food instead of a normal sized portion of delicious food. Not the case here. Ended the meal witn the peanut butter chocolate bomba which was perfect to share. Has a great vibe, looks like something you'd find in NYC. Love the bar snacks, would definitely recommend sitting at a high top or the bar to take advantage of that food. Opted for the noodle bowl which was excellent. Of course had to get an order of the crispy chicken skins which is one of my absolute favorites- perfect amount of crunch and grease. Sipped on a French 76, a version of the French 75 except with grapefruit flavors instead of lemon. A must hit when in LBI! read more

Totally delicious. Went there on a busy night in the peak of the season and were seated (4) immediately. Owner was at the front of the house greeting personally and was warm and friendly. This went hand in hand with the rustic decor that just sucks your soul right into wanting to sit and get comfy with a drink. Countdown to hell yes, that was delicious: We ordered the chefs special crudo... Dang it was delicious. So fresh. Nothing over powering the raw scallops. Homemade Gnocchi: yum! I think the sauce was made with beer which is fine by me... Pork Belly + Grits: get it. Def my favorite. There a few people on here giving this place so so ratings which made me hesitant.. Now I'm wondering what in the world they think is good then?! Best fresh creative culinary and craft beer experience on the island. Bring your wallet - it's not cheap. But nothing good ever is.. Ps- My scallops were some of if not THE best I've ever had!! I am a scallop nazi. They were huge, sweet, meaty and juicy, slightly carmelized on the outside but moist. The charred taste of the corn alongside made my mouth happy. The verde wine was sooooo good and chilled to perfection. Out server was spot on... We had absolutely no issues with service. Food came out at a great pace. Our kids were so good there too which is a fine reason to return any time we will be in LBI if everything else above isn't! Disappointed with the service and small menu for food. More of a bar than a restaurant. Long wait for food. The waitress forgot to get our drinks and the bread. When we finally got the food we all were disappointed with the small portion size. At least the food was good. They only had one bench outside people were fighting over waiting for their table. Came here on a Monday night in the summer. It was busy, but not crowded. We had a pretty big group (~15 or so), and were seated promptly / waited on attentively. Overall, the wait staff was extremely courteous, friendly, maybe a bit too bubbly for my liking, but hey, better than the alternative. The food was pretty good. Not mind blowing or anything, but we ordered a little bit of everything, and nothing was bad. They offer a decent drink selection, along with a handful of "specialty" cocktails - I feel they are a little bit too proud of themselves on these, the speech we got on how "special" their G&Ts were was a little over the top, but hey, they weren't bad. Service was attentive but not especially fast. This is one of the better choices in the area. A little bit pricey for what it is, but you should enjoy yourself and your meal. read more

I had to update my review after going in for drinks and acoustic set the other night. The beer selection alone should bump them up an extra star. There is such a lack of good bars on the island that The Arlington really stands out as a gem. Places like Joe Pops, Buckalews, The Marlin etc. show such a lack of effort on the food and service front; it's nice to have a decent place where you can get some reliable service and a beer that's not bud or course light. read more

Nicely redone. The former Bayberry Inn has lost all of its former colonial stuffiness and been replaced with an understated upscale tavern named The Arlington. Most of the reviews here have it right. Imaginative menu, fresh ingredients and solid food quality. The bar is a nice casual option and they have live acoustic music on the weekends. Highs include an awesome cocktail list relying on small batch bourbons and fizzy sweet drinks for the ladies. Beer selection towers above anything else on the island. Staff is friendly and knowledgable (if somewhat rushed) and entree choices make it difficult to make a decision. Lows are few but on Sunday night they ran out of Oysters, Corn Chowder and Red Fish but apparently that was driven by higher than expected sales over the weekend. They really need to throw down some carpet and install some soft fixtures or fabric panels to absorb the noise from the bar, dining area and kitchen. It sounds like a high school cafeteria when it's full. Otherwise an entirely pleasant experience. We'll be back. read more

Not a foodie. Came in to check out the craft beer during happy hour and have some nibbles. I enjoyed some IPA's which were crisp and hoppy (and brewed in Cal) - there is a good selection here and well put together. I had some ricotta on French bread and their bacon, macaroni & cheese which was good to the last creamy, chunks of bacon goodness bite. Friendly, clean environment and bar hostess made me feel welcome. read more

I came here with a group of six girls on a busy Saturday night and we lucked out getting one of the 6-top tables in the bar area. The interior has a rustic tavern vibe and the bar is pretty big. Because the bar area was so busy, it was pretty loud and service was a little slow. They have a large selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Our group shared the wings and bacon mac and cheese to start - All were just okay, nothing to write home about. I started with the onion soup, and had the steamed mussels in coconut curry broth for my meal - Both of which had great flavor. I shared a side of fries with someone and they were not good. They were dried out, burnt and tasted like they had been frozen and reheated a couple of times or had been sitting under a heat lamp for way too long. Nice place located off the main street. The ambiance is low-key with a vintage feel. The presentation was nice. We had two waiters. One waiter did not card us before we ordered drinks. After we had received our drinks, another person at the table ordered one more drink, and the waiter came back and asked "who gave you that?" and then asked to see our IDs. I thought that was bizarre. As for the food, I had the blackened chicken wings with chipotle sauce. These were hot and very tasty. They are bit more oily than I expected. Usually while on vacation in LBI, we go to Plantation but this year is our 1st anniversary and wanted to try something new. So happy we did that! This place is absolutley amazing in so many ways. My husband and I wanted to try a lot so we started with oysters and they were fantastic, so fresh and tasty. We tried the kale salad with caesar dressing and both thought it was delicious. We also had the ox tale pappardelle and that was my favorite dish!!!! So good. My husband had the scallops and I had the filet mignon, both were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. We ended the night with cheesecake that was incredible. Our new favorite spot for sure. A must try read more

We were able to make a reservation on short notice and were extremely impressed with both the quality of food and knowledgeable waitstaff. Went there for Easter brunch. Probably one of the most underperformed experiences I ever had. Been there several times for dinner so maybe my expectations were too high but it was 2 pm and the "buffet" had an omelette station a processed ham and turkey carving station pesto pasta salad eggs benedict scrambled egg bacon sausage fries and french toast, the bill... just under two hundred for five people. A friend came to visit last week, we decided on the Arlington, since neither of us ever tried it. Our waitress was very nice, and was always there when one of us needed something. We each had a glass of wine, I ordered crab cakes $27 for 2 rather small ones, he ordered short ribs, which were rather tough. The meals didn't come with a salad, only some rye bread. The place has been renovated since it was the Bayberry, to each his own, but in my mind, it didn't appeal to me. They have a large bar in the back. Overpriced for what you get. read more

There were only 3 other tables seated and the crab cakes were the consistency of crab salad with little pieces of crab, my fries were little half inch ends and they got one of our orders wrong. I asked my friend for a bar/restaurant that offered craft beers. The Arlington he said. The four of us went there. We placed our order for the first round. The waitress took the order. Then came back a second later because she forgot what we ordered. She brought our drinks, placed them in front of each of us. We drank them. I didn't like mine. She returned and told us that she placed the wrong beer in front of me. She gave it to my fiancee. My fiancee loved hers. :-( Okay, I brought this up to her.
