This was my first time trying an Argentina Empanada, Spanish bechamel to be exact, and this reminded me of a Quiche but the inside was more moist and 'raw'. The reviews looked good so it was a perfect opportunity for a new post. They have classic tacos and premium tacos. They also offer burritos and bowls. I decided to go for some tacos. Tacos are sold individually unless you get the taco combo with a side of beans a rice. I went individual because I wanted to try a few different ones. I decided on Pork Carnitas, Chicken Tinga, Ground Beef and Grilled Steak. You get the option of corn or flour tortillas. Also you choose the spice level of medium or hot. Guacamole is an extra $0.75 per taco. I skipped the guac this time. I chose corn tortillas for all my tacos. This may have been a mistake. The fresh corn tortillas was great but I had to walk a bit before I could enjoy my tacos and the corn tortillas did not hold up. Out of the 4 tacos 3 of them fell apart from all the toppings and moisture. Next time I will switch to flour tortillas if I am doing take out. I'm sure they would have been amazing if I had sat down and eaten them on the spot. Maybe the restaurant should double up on the shells for the corn tortillas? The food was super fresh on the first three tacos. Meat was tender and the crema sauce was perfect. The only downside was the grilled steak taco. I found the taco a bit dry. The flavour was great though. I will come back and hopefully next time be able to sit down and dine in. The place has a great atmosphere! Bonus element is they also have Bubba's crispy fried chicken available as well. We will save that for another day.

Was in the mood for tacos and found Mi Taco on Google maps with good reviews. There was no dine in,…read moreso we walked in to do a take out. Staff was very welcoming and the place was vibrant and more importantly, clean. Looked at the menu and opted in for the following tacos: Chicken Tinga, Vegan Chorizo & Grilled Shrimp, on corn tortilla ($4.50, $4.50 & $6, respectively), and the Orange Jarritos bottled pop (the staff recommended we try the lime next time). It was easy placing our order and we waited a bit before receiving them. Taste & verdict: The tacos were a little smaller than I had expected for the price paid, but they were loaded. The taco started to fall apart as I bit into it, but the first thing that popped into my mind was how good the corn tortilla tasted. Chicken Taco: I was a little disappointed with the chicken taco, it had shredded chicken in it which did not taste very fresh/had a very strong, and rather offsetting meat taste to it. Vegan Chorizo Taco: I did not try the vegan chorizo taco, however I was told that it tasted good but nothing particularly amazing. Grilled Shrimp Taco: Despite enjoying shrimp, I kept my expectations low after trying the chicken taco, but my taste buds were definitely in for a surprise and this taco turned out to be the best of the 3 we picked. It was considered "premium" and packed more heavily than the other 2, and had shredded cabbage in it unlike the others. It was my definitely our favourite among the ones we had gotten, and my friend who doesn't usually fancy shrimp was wowed as well, and we actually went back and got 2 more after. Overall, really good taco, but I personally feel like the shrimp tacos were a bit pricey, but it does accordingly live up to that price/standards. I would definitely go back for the shrimp taco again.

Since I already had a pretty heavy meal earlier in the day, I decided to keep it light. Went with the Nopal Taco (the one with grilled cactus) and A La Mexicana, which is a shrimp dish cooked in salsa ranchera, served with rice and salad. Paired that with Inca Kola, which apparently tastes just like cream soda. To be honest, for a Saturday evening with nearly empty house and all that casual chaos, I didn't expect too much. But in a weird way, I actually enjoy that slightly offbeat, mismatched energy you often get at Latin spots. There's always something a little awkward going on, and I don't know why, but I kind of love that. Sure, the taco shell could've been better, and the server wasn't exactly on point with the drink availability. Could've also explained the dishes a bit more instead of just saying "I don't know", but hey, the food itself hit the spot. Would've liked a bit more kick in the seasoning, but at least the server was open to adjusting and didn't miss a thing once asked. Bonus point goes to the heart-shaped rice. No idea why that detail stuck with me, but it did. All in all, it's one of those places that might not check every box perfectly, but something about it makes you want to come back.

They were prepared with cornmeal (as opposed to pastry), seasoned shredded beef and a slight amount of potato - not stingy on the meat! The hot sauce was the perfect condiment as it was a bit vinegary, which balanced the richness of the meat/cornmeal. A thought I had for next time was to make my own Chimichurri sauce (I have a great recipe) as an accompaniment. The establishment itself is slightly easy to miss. It's in a small plaza, on the north side of Lakeshore Rd E (Mississauga), just east of Cawthra and has limited parking. They had other pastries there as well and I'm pretty sure I saw tamales in the refrigerator. The service was friendly as well. Empanadas were $1.80 each and they accept either debit or cash.
